Hey,
My HTC One is a GPE device and is currently running version 5.1. I would like to switch over to CM 12.1.
What is the best way to keep all settings after the ROM has been installed? It's recommended to clear all caches and data while installing CM, so all settings are gone.
I would like to keep all the settings and configurations like: accounts, bluetooth devices, wifi networks, apps settings,.... As much as possible.
The device is not rooted and I can't change it, because some applications I need for work stop working when the device is rooted.
Is Titanium Backup a possibility? Are there other (and better) ways?
Thx,
W.

Since you can not root the phone then you should not put a custom ROM on the phone since most will root your phone. Also, Titanium Backup requires root.

One of the highlighted features in froyo announcement was data backup
http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-2.2-highlights.html
when you flash a new firmware or factory reset your phone the settings, applications and more important application data are being restored automatically.
SGS doesn't do this.
Did samsung disabled this feature? is there a way to enable it?
I know it's in the settings, but it doesn't seem to work.
When I had nexus one and when I tried CM7 on SGS it worked like a charm
(although many applications doesn't use this feature so application data doesn't restore).
it works... at least for me, but the truth is that there arent many applications using the backup agent. i have built one and the data backup is working flawlessly
after factory reset, does all of your previous applications are installed automaticlly?
does it restore the custom settings you had?
It does when I use CM7, but not when I use firmware based on samsung.
Evening All.
I have not long since got my HTC One (UK version of it makes any difference).
It is S-Off, bootlooader unlocked and rooted with TWRP 2.6.3 recovery but currently running stock firmware. I've had a play with ARHD and liked it. However it's a bit of a nause having to re download apps every time I update. The internet were I am is very slow so this takes time.
I know backup solutions exist however I get conflicting reports about the apps. Having come from an iPhone (which I still use as a work phone) I am looking for a backup solution that with either a brand new phone or a factory reset and a new/custom Rom I just hit restore and it puts all my apps data and settings as it was when I backed up. Including things like my layout in widget locker and nova launcher.
I was going to be using helium but then read that you still have to download the APK for all the apps again from Google so that seems a pretty defunct choice.
It's there an app which will backup my phone, I can remove this to my laptop. Then factory reset, reinstall the app (I'm assuming you have to do this) and then I put the backup back on the phone and restore it?
Cloud options are no use due to the slow internet.
Apologies if this has been covered before but I just can't seem to find a definitive answer.
Thanks in advance.
Carl.

I use ES File Explorer to backup all the app apk's and HTC backup to my google drive for settings / mms / contacts/ etc
Titanium Backup
Sorry if this is in the wrong category.
I want to switch to cyanogen 14.1 on my sprint HTC one m8. My plan is to make a backup of everything with twrp, flash cm14.1 nighty, then restore the apps. I have multiple questions.
1. Will this plan work
2. If I have the super su and Xposed installer apps, I'll just need to install the framework stuff, right?
3. If I do brick my phone, will the backup fix it?
4. Will I have to reconfigure my phone with my carrier?
5. Will cyanogen be able to read the restored apps?
I think that's all. Thanks for the answers in advance!
Stability
I have also heard of stability issues with cm14.1. I guess another question is is it a good idea? One main reason for cm14.1 is android 7.
I'm currently running MIUI Global 8.2, Stable 8.2.2.0(NAAMIEB). I want to back up my app data before flashing Paranoid Android. This is my first time installing ROMs, and therefore I haven't yet unlocked my bootloader, installed TWRP or rooted my device. How can I backup my app data in MIUI, without root, so I can restore the app data in my Paranoid Android ROM?
I've tried Helium without any success - it keeps asking me to enable PTP mode and install ADB drivers (both of which I have done, but the phone isn't detected by ADB command prompt). Google backup of app data doesn't work well in MIUI; I can only backup Google apps with a few third party apps.
Thanks.
If anyone could come up with something?
:crying:
I'm in the same situation.
You will need to unlock your bootloader and install TWRP anyway to flash third-party ROM like Paranoid, so just go ahead to unlock your bl.
but, if want to backup and restore data from and to MIUI system, it can be done in Settings-Additional Settings-Backup and restore(doesn't require a unlocked bl). It will backup your data in your /sdcard/MIUI folder, copy it else where and keep it safe.
You Can use Helium, works on non-rooted devices and is able to backup app data from most of the apps. But once you do root, I'd recommend switching to Titanium Backup Pro because it is just so much more better. Helium is the app you're looking for buddy. Hit the thanks button if I helped.
I don't get notifications working. Tried just about everything. Different stock roms, unlocked or locked bootloader, with or without twrp, with or without SuperSU/Magisk root...
In SafeCenter, and in later 3.5 Roms 'Security' app I disable all auto accelerate, anti spam, antivirus, auto cleanup. I white listed all apps/associated apps in autostart.
Enabled/disabled USB debugging.
Disabled all apps in Battery optimization
Sync on in account settings
In notifications settings everything enabled.
And still I don't get no freaking notifications! Only if open the app the notification appears..
Anything else I could try, and please don't tell me to use custom ROM! I want to get this fixed, it should be possible right?!
Edit;
Currently running 3.5.344ST/unlocked/twrp/supersu root
did u use a backup to restore apps or did u fresh install from store?
move app for /system/priv-app
Was it solved by moving into system/priv-app?
Did you get to the bottom of this ?
It makes a difference if you upgrade from very old ROM versions, or newer versions.
E.g. I started with ZUI 1.9xx (QFIL) and then OTA all the way up to the newest version (3.4xx)
Everything basically worked, but I had battery issues and some notification issues which I couldn't fix.
Then I tried to encrypt my device and it critically failed, so I had to switch to a new ROM anyway.
Then I took the newest possible full ROM for QFIL, I think it was ZUI 3.1xx and then OTA the short way up to the newest version.
Now Everything works, also encryption and with good battery life and notifications. But I feel the ROM is a little less snappy then before, maybe because of encryption.
Besides it still has 2 turn-downs:
- Some apps like Amazon Prime Video complain about an "uncompatible device ID" thus won't start
- Language is english and I can't manage to change the language permanently (not even with morelocale and ADB commands)
So our ZUK2 Pro's always have some funny behaviour... But I really feel the device is at its best now after ~1 Year in my pocket.
€dit: All with locked bootloader and without root
