[Easy] Root The T-Mobile D415 using a script - LG Optimus L90

Root The D415
Rooting a device is a serious procedure. If you stick your finger into my face saying I bricked your device, I will laugh at you!
I may be a junior member here at XDA, but trust me. I have a lot of knowledge on Android.
Requirements
- D415 Device
- USB Cable
- LG Drivers
- Access to a computer with internet
- Rooting Script by: Avicohh Download Found at bottom of post.
I can actually help! I rooted my T-Mobile D415 using this one click root CMD script. All credit goes to Avicohh.
1- To properly root, go to your settings on the phone and go down to the about device section. Click on the software info section and spam the build number.
2- Get to the main settings screen and there will be a new section called developer options. click on it and check USB debugging. Your phone should be plugged into your computer at this time all the way until the end of the procedure.
3- Now, go to your computer and launch the root script from there.
4- On the phone, a popup saying allow USB Debugging comes up. Click Ok and the rest you have to follow on the script itself.
5- After it finishes, you should see your phone reboot. After that, you have rooted your phone!
Note
After the phone reboots from step 4, another USB debugging popup will come. You need to click OK.

root access Lollipop 5.0.2 D41520b
I had rooted my LG L90 when I had kitkat on the phone. Got a new phone and had not used it for a few months. When I checked it the other day I found that it said that I did not have root access. Since then I have gotten the upgrade to Lollipop 5.0.2 D41520b. Will this method work for me now ?

T-mobile LG optimus l90 D41520b Android 5.0.2 ROOTED
T-mobile LG optimus l90 D41520b Android 5.0.2 ROOTED:angel:

There's a big problem with 32-bit Windows XP while rooting L90. After turning the phone back on with software upload mode (volume up + connecting USB) a new XP device appears (Android MTP Device) and there's no way to install it because there's always a yellow cloud icon. In this case, the script cannot see the phone and will not continue rooting the phone. Even if I manage to install "proper" driver, the yellow cloud icon appears again after few seconds, and the driver is installing again and again in the loop without proper finish of installation.
How to make XP keep the driver for goodand avoid looping of installing process?

Sadly, I cannot help you due to many reasons:
- XP is outdated and many things do not work on it
- I have never seen an yellow cloud icon and do not know what it is.
- I'm pretty sure the script was not made to work on XP. So there might be compatibility issues and it may not have rooted properly.

This might be a dunb question....
I"m new at this, What Application do you use to run the script? I feel like I'm missing a basic core program that everyone uses.

You need no program! You only need to have Windows! The script launched a CMD that comes with Windows.

I've been trying to root my LG L90 phone and I get to the Firmware Update screen. Script says waiting for device. How long does this part take. Have been waiting for over 5 minutes and its still at 0%
---------- Post added at 01:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:38 PM ----------
Finally able to complete process. How do I delete the bloatware ?

What variant of the Lg l90 do you have? It is easier to downgrade to KitKat with kdz to get root with towelroot. Or you could use kingroot

Thanks for this. Might want to add that for the USB debugging to take affect the phone can't be on charge only mode. I tend to forget myself since my own phones usually defaulted to MTP.

My device never has "a popup saying allow USB Debugging comes up"
USB debugging is on, it's in MTP, and it says USB debugging connected. No matter what option I use to root this phone it never shows a pop-up. Any ideas?

Computer doesn't detect P990 through USB

Ok guys I'm a noob around here. I've had my P990 for about 7 months and I'm ready to throw it against the wall:crying: I've been searching for info on this type of fault and I read that it happens pretty often. I really didn't have the need to plug my phone to my computer, so I never did, until about two days ago I decided I was bored with my stock phone and decided to install the latest version of android, so I downloaded the LG IV suite. Installed it, I'm following the directions, connect my phone and bam, NOTHING I kept getting an error on the LG suite, can't find phone, check connection and try again. At this time I also notices that my phone was charging through the USB cable. So my basic troubleshooting techniques kicked in, and performed the basic steps:
-Made sure Mass storage only box is checked
-Switched USB cable
-Re-installed the driver
-Downloaded the latest driver from LG website
-Downloaded drivers recommended by XDA
-Tried two other computers with two different OS
So none of this worked:crying:
After monkeying around for a couple of hours with my phone, I read somewhere on this forum to take out the battery, connect to USB cable to your computer, hold down the power and volume down buttons at the same time, this would put my phone in some mode, I don't know what that mode is, but decided to do it. My phone powers up, then I see the green android little man with a white box and an arrow coming out of the box. Ok, finish doing it's thing and then it reboots. I go into my phone and find that everything has been erased and the phone was back to it's original state when I received it over the mail.
Since my phone is back to stock, I decided to go the root road. Downloaded SuperOneClick, installed it connect my phone via USB and I'm back to step one. I get nothing!!! So then I decide to go the root flash road. So I downloaded the z4root adk file and put in the flash, pop the flash in my phone and nothing. Can't see my flash card on my phone (never used an SD card on my phone and decided to buy one for this instance). Kept reading on-line and found that I need a file manager application, so I installed Linda Manager on phone, opened the z4root adk file and installed on my phone. So now I'm getting very excited and I'm giggling like a school girl because I'm starting to see light at the end of the tunnel. So I run the z4root application and go with permanent selection, the application start the root, then BAMMMMMMM. The application just stops and my phone takes me to my home page. I decide to restart the z4root application and I can't get the app to run. I re-booted my phone, restarted the app, and keep getting stuck. The app stops and I can't never successfully get a root. I'm out of ideas, I've going at it with my phone for two day and reading on the net.
The two thing I want to accomplish is to be able to use my phone via the USB cable and to root my phone. Can you guys point me in the right direction. At this point I'm willing to try anything on my phone since everything got erased.
by the way here's is what stock I'm running on my phone:
Android version: 2.2.2
Baseband version: 1035.21_20110725
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9
Built number: FRG83G
LGE version: LGP990-V10d
My computer is running Windows Vista, I also tried a Window 7 and a Windows XP computer and still nothing for the USB.
I would appreciate any help guys, throw me a bone over here:laugh:
Same thing happened to my friend. No USB detection (the phone was charging through usb but nothing showed up on the pc). He tried everything then he called me (I have o2x too) , i tried everything you did too. His pc detected my o2x , but when he connected his (on the same cable) ... nothing .
Finally he remembered the phone had warranty and took it to tech suppport. First they reflashed it , but when he tried it home ... nothing . He took it to support again , they kept it for about 10 days and told him they had to change the motherboard.
Phone works now.
He was on stock froyo too , Vodafone Romania version.

Sorry for the bump, but I got some update.
when dialing the above mentioned 1809#*990# in the Port menu, switching from default AP USB to AP/CP UART gave me life signs.
After switching to AP UART I linked the Unknown device driver to lgusbdiag.inf located in C:/ProgramFiles(x86)/LG United Mobile Driver.
Suddenly it started installing it and is now recognized as: LGE Platform Android USB Device.
Once disconnected I lose USB again, I'm able to recreate the first steps though even in default AP USB mode by now.
The only thing I need USB for is for flashing a custom recovery but the only thing I don't have is ADB somehow : / Clockwork telling me: device not found.
Any help on this one?

I get the exact same symptom, as soon as I change from AP USB to AP/CP UART, my battery icon on my phone goes to charging, without the being plugged in
Well I'm pretty tired of monkeying around with this phone, but I really like phone and really don't want to change model. So I decided to order a brand new one:laugh:
I should be getting it within the next two week, hopefully that doesn't give me the same problem
I'll keep you guys updated.
Help??
A very good friend of us noobs toying with our O2x's are Paul O'Brien.
I could not get any other flashing tool to root my O2X other than his. Here is link to his guide:
modaco.com/topic/335474-25-mar-nvflash-stock-rom-release-v10b-dated-1300166062-15032011/#entry1645587
He also has the tool to completely restore your O2X back to factory standards, and in the O2X forum here you will find all the different stock roms, you need to get your phone back to these factory standards and restore your warranty.
After you flashed your phone and get ready to try all the marvellous ROMs, waiting on the other side, I can only recommend to purchase the PRO version of Clock Work Mod, it really brings out the fun in rooting your phone.
Seeing your description of your troubles, I think you have softwareproblems, more than hardware problems, so a complete flash and maybe restore, will likely solve many if not all of your problems.
Best regards
Mike
And dont forget to show your support to the developers, they do a marvellous job for us!!!
Thanks mike,
I followed the link you provided and did a lot of reading. So decided to try that method. No luck with that, my computer doesn't detect APX mode while holding down both volume keys. I tried it like 10 times every time holding the keys at different intervals. I even tried it on my wife's laptop running windows 7, didn't work either.
I did find a lot of good info on the link you posted.
Thanks, just waiting on my new O2x to come in the mail.
Possible solution
Some days ago, I also had a problem connecting my LG Optimus 2X to my PC (Windows 7).
I solved my problem using this instructions I found in the G2X forum, by conspirator_boff user (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15899923&postcount=10)
Similar issue. This worked for me on Win 7.
Uninstall the LG Drivers and reinstall the G2x 2.2 package from LG.COM /us/support/mc-support/mobile-phone-support.jsp (I can't post links)
Plug the phone in and go to Device Manager. There should be a USB Composite Device that is not properly installed. Right click it and select Update Driver Software.
Select 'Browse my computer', then 'Let me pick'. Choose have disk, and browse to where the LG Drivers are installed. Likely C:\Program Files\LG Electronics\LG United Mobile Driver\ and select lgbus9x.inf.
Then pick LGE Android Platform Composite USB Device from the list of drivers. Should be the top option. Hit next.
I let it sit for a minute while the drivers installed. Some things registered in device manager right away, the LGE USB Modem for one. But, the drives didn't. Unplugged the phone, plugged it back in, and the drives popped up under Portable Devices.

I think it's an issue from the newest LG Drivers because when I first tried to connect it a year ago I had no problems.
Hope it helps.

Good luck and I hope your new phone will behave properly.
Remember Paul also has tools for bringing your phone back to factory standards, so you keep your warranty.:good:
Enough said, good luck and remember our O2X is probably one of the easiest phones to try out different ROMs at and I have never enjoyed this little gadget as much as after I flashed it!!:

Fixed
Sorry guys for the late update.
I received my new P990 about two weeks ago. As soon I pluged the phone into my computer it started installing the drivers and I was able to use my phone via the USB cable. Another thing I noticed, on this new phone when I pluged the USB cable, I noticed it went in nice and firm, on my old phone the cable seemed to be a little loose. Anyway it was definately a hardware issue with my phone. I'm pretty happy with 2x.

[SOLVED] Rooting Issues

hi
clearly this wasn't as simple as the unrevoked method for my last phone,
I ran the script 'root many phone' and it cracked on whilst moaning about permissions and by the time it had finished the phone restarted a bit broken.
It had not play store, none of the previous apps on, wasn't actually rooted at all.
I managed to get play back on there but installing via adb.exe from the command line, and its almost like when I install something, that was on there before, it still has all the settings, so not quite sure what has gone on.
can anyone offer some advice, is it simplest to somehow get myself back to stock and start agin.
maybe I didnt run the root script from the right place. - phone was on and plugged in , usb debugging enabled.
any help much appreicated
I don't know of starting fresh is the 'best' option, but if you haven't done anything that you can't miss our can't do again it's never a wrong try.
Some people also reported that you need allow test locations on. And allow installation of external apps must also be set.
You can always try re rooting without reinstalling.
If you want to reinstall you're best of using Sony update service. Googling is fastest way to find it (not Sony pc companion)
Good luck,

hi
yes that was what I tried
do I need anything more than that script? (eg those ftf files i keep reading about?)
does the phone need to be on, or in the volume down on boot state
it appears I need 'test locations' and 'external apps' set
anything else I need?
i will try again today at some point
thanks
sure I am being a spanner, but I cant even find the test locations or external apps setting anywhere?
where might that be?
unless test locations is 'mock locations' (guess so)
stilll not finding the external apps option, thought it would be in apps setting somewhere..?
ok found that too in security > unknown sources.

That root script didn't work for me either; it kept asking me to connect my device with USB-debugging enabled even though I had already done that.
I would suggest getting back to stock and trying again, BUT use FlashTool instead. It worked perfectly for me in mere seconds.

I downloaded version 0.9.0.0 version, but no XperiaT in the list when I plug it in..
which phone did you pick?
presume the steps are
1. download flashtool
2. Install it on your PC
3. Run the Flashtool and connect your phone (enable USB debugging first)
4. Hit the Root button (second in row)
5. When you see "waiting for restore to finish" open your phone and run Backup&Restore app and restore RootMe.tar file.
6. Wait until Flashtool do the rest of work
thanks

If you mean in the adb drivers list, select Xperia TX. That was the only time I had to select a device.
OK finally success
although using the initial method.
maybe the problem was created by reading the 'root many phones' thread and where it says there is a special case for Xperia T/S etc I took that to mean when running the tool, to pick option '2) special case Xperia S tablet etc' - which didn't work
ran it again picked option '1) Normal' which did work
thanks for all your help
nat
Not necessarily relevant to the OP's problem but I thought I'd share in case it helps anyone else out...
When I tried rooting using Bin4ry's method I kept getting a adb server out of date error and the root failed.
I eventually traced this to having DROID explorer installed which was forcing an old version of adb to be running and stopped the newer version from starting up.
Once I uninstalled the old version I was able to runMe and root the phone.

[Q] A challenge for Captivate users!

Hey, im in Jamaica and ive got a challenge for Captivate users. No one has been able to figure this dilema out. Hopefully someone can solve this.
My captivates usb port has stopped doing anything. The details are:
1. The phone works fine and used to be rooted but the root is corrupt i think. Super user installed but the phone behaves unrooted and SU gives errors.
2. I cant flash ROMs since there is no usb.
3. Cannot sideload as the phone cant receive the AT&T OTA update since im in Jamaica.
4. I changed the USB port but same result (no charge, no connection to pc)
Im thinking the usb is bricked since the person i got it from says it charged the day before she reset the phone to give to me.
5. Cant update.zip via 3 recovery (i get e: siganture verification failed)
Can anyone figure this out!? Im thinking its impossible now. If only i could use sideload wonder machine wirelessly, then i could use Z4ROOT or Visionary to flash.
Maybe stupid question. But do u have the Samsung USB drivers installed? If yes then probably need a new USB cord. Try a different one.

1. Ive tried several usb cables but no response.
2. If the phone wont even charge via usb then im not sure installing the drivers will help.
3. Whats the jig supposed to do? Get me into download? If so, when i hold the volume buttons and power button, it takes me to a screen that gives me the options to clear cache, user data, and reinstall packages. but when i try various update.zip files i get the signed verification failed message. I think this is recovery mode but ill search for how to get into download mode. Does download mode work without usb?
Tried entering download mode but i guess since the usb doesnt work, thats why it doesnt function.

If the phone doesn't charge through the usb, you need a new usb port on your phone. If you know how to solder, you can probably get one for cheap and look at videos on how to do it. Otherwise, you can go through mobiletechvideos.com to get it replaced.
As for download mode, it's vol down + power.

There's a security feature, you can uncheck it in your settings.
And holding vol down+power while phone is off will boot it in download mode (don't have the usb plugged in). Also, formatting and resetting a phone doesn't break usb. My guess, the job wasn't done correctly.
Have you tried it on other pc? Perhaps your pc usb port is defective.

1. There isnt any such setting on the ATT version of my captivate. I guess that option came after the sideload OTA update.

1. I though I remembered being able to sideload back then (it has been a while) but could be wrong.
2. Not with the signature verification. You'd need a custom recovery (cwm).
Getting in download mode is something that always works (unless you mess up with the bootloaders = bricked phone), just like getting in recovery. It's something that comes with the phone.
Basically, not much can be done on the Captivate without a working usb.

Guess its cuz im not in the states. Respect though!! If u figure out anything else to try let me know. Bless!!
A way to sideload apps without USB is to download the Google Drive app from the Play Store then upload the APK from your computer to your Drive. Next access your Drive on your phone and select the APK it should begin the regular install.
**you will need to allow 3rd party applications**

try going to Setting > Security > Enable Unknown Sources
thats where it is on my phone but im running a custom Rom
if that doesnt work try to find anything in the settings that says enable unknown sources.
---------- Post added at 04:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:57 PM ----------
So I did some reading and if your running stock at&t ROM you most likely are not able to allow unknown sources (because for some reason AT&t blocks it).
You might want to try download an app called AppInstaller by FunTrigger from PlayStore (I have never used this and I'm not sure if it will get around the 3rd party problem you are having but its worth a shot)
You should be able to use it to install the APK in your Drive.

Okay I think I've got it. Note that i have not tried this myself and take no responsibility if something goes wrong.
How to enable unknown sources on AT&T phone:
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > select Customization Settings Provider and then Clear Data
Next go back one page and select Settings and then Clear Data
Now in Settings > Applications you should see the option unknown sources select it.
Now unknown sources are enabled!

thats where it is on my phone but im running a custom Rom
if that doesnt work try to find anything in the settings that says enable unknown sources.

So I did some reading and if your running stock at&t ROM you most likely are not able to allow unknown sources (because for some reason AT&t blocks it).

I don't know how set you are on keeping your data but why not try a complete factory reset?
And if that doesn't work then just flash a new CWM and ROM,,, there are ways to do that without connecting to a computer.

Note 5 (N920I) USB/OTG Issue [No computer will recognise the device]

Ok ladies and gents,
I've been on a mission to root my Note 5 N920I for months now.
My problem is no computer will read/recognise the device. The Mac's seem to not even recognise it's plugged in, with Windows, no matter which driver I install it keeps telling me the "device descriptor failed blah blah blah". I managed to root my S4 very easily on Mac with Jodin3 so I know that it ain't no user error.
I've Googled and Googled ways to root without a computer or installing a custom recovery without root, but from what I understand I can't flash TWRP as recovery without a computer and therefore cannot root without a custom recovery.
I've Googled ways to fix the USB issue by making the xml file and putting it into the correct folder, but for that I need to be rooted. Right?
When she's plugged into a computer with USB debugging on or off nothing comes up in my notifications except for charging. I tried using the toolbox which I found on here (sorry can't remember the name) though it seemed like I was getting close, I couldn't get close enough before my temper got the better off me.
If my memory serves me correctly the OTG function worked when i first got the phone but didn't after the first update. My mate's Note 5 also has the same issue. I Googled it and seemed it was common issue on these phones.
I've tried to learn some Terminal/Command Prompt to see if I can fix it that way through Debian or whatever, only got as far as understanding it, kind of. Big ups to all you coders/programmers out there it really is an artform.
So PLZ PLZ can y'all help me, there has to be a way aside from setting this thing alight and getting a new phone.
My next mission, which I only embarked on a couple nights ago is unbricking my dad's Note 4 (N910G) that just hit the **** one day after spazzing out for a few days then would not turn on. I'm getting close though I haven't put much effort into that yet.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance. ?

1)First of all have you enabled usb debugging and oem unlocking options enabled from developers options?
2)Install latest usb drivers for your model no on pc, use original usb cable to connect your phone
3) Try different usb hub-ports on your pc, it is recommended to use main-usb port to connect device properly which is mostly located backside of cpu cabinet
4)Does odin recognises ur device? If yes then you can flash twrp and cf autoroot both ( Sometimes Kies or smartswtich like programmes enforces device not be reognised, so uninstall them before trying to connect and flashing thorugh odin)
5)Try to update device drivers manually from Pc's administration
6) Try to connect your phone on another pc running windows and see if it recognises your device or not
I've tried all of that, i have a 09 Macbook Pro hand me down running Yosemite with Windows 8.1 Pro n just put Ubuntu on her today through Parallels. None of which recognise the phone being there.
I've plugged it into 2 HP PC's and both just keep telling "device descriptor failed". They're both kinda old too.
Unless someone has a specific driver they've made or found or could make me?? Clearly I'm a noob.
Closest I've found is https://github.com/452/USBHIDTerminal/wiki/How-to-enable-USB-host-API-support but still need root or system mounted as rw.
Any other ideas? Any ADB codes anyone could help me with ?

Phone Won't Connect To Computer

https://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/help/sensors-t3655996
Here I posted my phones sensor issue so the user chazzmatt told me to flash the stock firmware through ADB or RSDlite
I have ADB drivers installed in my PC and RSDlite also installed my phone connects to the PC but its USB configuration doesn't change from "charging" to "File transfer" or anything else. i have the stock firmware in .zip file can i flash that without a PC? as whenever i try to change my USB configuration my phone disconnects and re-connects I've tried multiple cables and multiple USB ports I've also tried different computers but that doesn't seem to help I've also tried turning debugging mode on and off but that doesn't work either, my phone Isn't being recognized in ADB (I don't know if its because of the USB configuration is set as charging or what) Does anyone know how i can fix this? Should i give to some expert for any hardware repairing or checkup? Formatting didn't help.
RSDlite works from the bootloader, and usually makes the phone go there automatically. In your case, you need to do it manually before connecting the data cable.

This is a new issue, right? What I mean is before now you were able to connect to ADB. You had to connect to ADB when you were trying to install the temp root to unlock your bootloader. That's part of the temp root instructions.

Good advice.
If he's already on the bootloader screen, then plug in, ADB should recognize the phone better.
But just strange he could connect before in regular GUI and not now. His phone must be really messed up from the botched temp root attempt.

Um actually no I used sunshine to try to unlock my bootloader so it attempted to gain temproot using the app itself but I failed before this attempt the phone connected fine with the computer I'm not sure about the adb if that was working as I didn't try to connect my phone while Android debugging enabled as I had htc one before and I used that which worked pretty well the the adb so I'm not quite sure if this phone connected and was recognized before the temproot thingy or not anyways thanks both of you, at the moment my sensors automatically started working I didn't do anything other than try and connect my phone to my computer the sensors started working around 7pm or something (it's 11:58pm right now) and fortunately they are still working although what I noticed was that top left proximity sensor (one of the 4 sensors on each corner) isn't working other than that every sensor is working If the sensors stop working I'll surely try to flash the stock firmware probably using RSDlite as it seems to be easier.
As you probably know now, on the firmware version you are on there's another temp root you have to use first before using Sunshine. And it requires fastboot.
