What are some of the best Android games? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What are some of the best Android games to use the power of the nexus? I mostly play computer games, right now my main game I play on my phone is Texas Hold 'Em.
I am also aware of N64 and Playstation emulators, will probably mess around with some games on those. But right now I feel like I'm missing a void. I have this power house phone and I only play Hearthstone and poker on it.
What can you recommend me? I mostly enjoy multiplayer games. I absolutely can't stand waiting games, like Clash of Clans or Boom Beach. Sorry for being so vague

Hey, if you're into arcade-type games and don't mind wasting some time away there is a cool pinball one called Zen Pinball HD; be forwarned it only comes with one table and the rest require a small sum to be spent. They just released a Portal (from Valve) based table which I'm addicted to at this time. This one is single player.
Otherwise, if you want multiplayer there is one called Taichi Panda which is multiplayer and has stuff going on at all times. They have just received an update which raised the level cap. If you decide to jump on this one, play on server US-S16 Gubbly and add me, my IGN is LiQuiDDiGitZ.

It depends what you like really.
Dead trigger 2 looks great with the graphics set all the way up, however I don't like the control system.
Some of my favourite games that look nice:
Warhammer 40,000 Space wolf (beta) - Geeky turn based strategy
Need for Speed Most wanted - Arcade racer
GT Racing 3 - Nearly simulation racer
Hitman Go - puzzle / micro strategy
Modern Combat 4 - FPS, much better control system than Dead trigger 2
Edge of Tomorrow - FPS based on the Movie
Sould Calibur - Sega Dreamcast "port" beat em up
Galaxy on Fire 2 HD - Space flight / trading / dog fighting
Limbo - 2d platform game
Frozen Synapse Prime - Sort of a turn based strategy
GTA San Andreas - Needs no introduction
IMHO Emulated games are always a let down. The controls work poorly on a touch screen and the graphics are never as good as native games. PSP games look OK but you're stuck with one joystick which is a pain in modern gaming.

6 best multiplayer android games 2016
1. Clash of Clans - is without doubt the most grossing game on every ones list. Not to forget, the game has already been awarded the best multiplayer game in 2013. This probably is one such game which shall never go out of trend. Here, basically what you do is protect your village from the enemy.
2. 8 Ball Pool - This one is for all the peace loving people out there. Generally people associate multiplayer games on android with fighting and war; but this is one of the best games to keep you busy and well entertained. If you like billiards and you can play it well on your android phones, then this is it for you.
3. Ice Age Village - Now that is something, isn’t it? All you do is unlock levels by building up a new habitat for all the characters from the movie. Though there isn’t much to do (unlike COC, which needs you to come back every once in a while), but it surely is a great way to pass your leisure time.
While you visit the villages created by your friends, you also get additional benefits and points. What makes this game stand out is the fact that it needs nothing much to be done; just work on it when you feel like doing nothing and you have your way out!
4. Asphalt 8: Airborne - is a one of the best racing multiplayer game on Android. A game from Gameloft needs no definition, and this is asphalt we are talking about. This is one of the most trending game from the entire series of Asphalt and I am sure it has surely been the all time favorite of any of you!
5. Modern Combat 5: Blackout - This one is probably the ideal replacement for Call of Duty on your android phones. This is a great multiplayer game on your android devices. Team up with your other friends on the game and fight the enemy. The leader boards allow you to keep a track of how fairly you have performed; all you need to do here is make use of the right weapon, right tactic, at the right time.
6. Words With Friends - The best multiplayer game to always keep up with the times when you are bored. This game allows you to chat with friends, challenge people who you think you can out do and of course better your vocabulary. Play it with the best possible person who matches your level and see if you can still be the winner.

@ klooher,
Hi. The two games I am addicted to are Huff n' Puff, which is an Angry Birds-like game, and Ivy the Kiwi. Both have great looking graphics and they are fun to play. They are also challenging. Here is some info on both games:
Huff n' Puff is a game to kill the pigs in their structures, or homes. You play as the Big Bad Wolf and you want to go out and collect your "hams". You go and kill Pigs using your breath to blow the house down. What sets this game apart is the game supports two modes of play: tapping the screen, or using the microphone on your device to "blow" into. What this does is when you are in the level, it activates the Wolf's breath inhale so depending on how soft or hard you blow air into the mic also affects the power Wolf will use to blow down the house. you can toggle between the two. As the levels progress, you could use something like a chili pepper to eat and then use Wolf's breath to set fire to wodden structures. There are also two other food items (ice cream and onion).
The drawback on playing this game on the Touch Pro, or on any VGA screen device, is it was meant for WVGA screens. The game formats itself (but there will be black bars on top and bottom of the screen when the game is in its default landscape mode), but the touch points where to activate the soft buttons are a little off, so you wouldn't be touching some the icon(s) directly, but rather slightly above them. If you can live with that then this is a great choice to play. Suggest to use your stylus when playing.
The second game, Ivy the Kiwi, is a platformer game (side scroll game like Mario). You do not directly control Kiwi (which is a bird). Kiwi moves back and forth on its own. What you do is you use your stylus to create vines for Kiwi to get across from the start to the Goal. The concept itself is fairly simple, but the levels do get harder and more complexed. Each level is timed, and the optional objective is to collect feathers. In each level there are 10 feathers to grab. The game was eventually ported to the Nintendo Wii and the Nintendo DS. Windows Mobile seemed to have been forgotten, but it is available in the marketplace. I havent beaten this game yet. There are two tutprial videos in the game so you can get aquainted with the gameplay. The color scheme is fairly bland in a way, since there isn't much color but at the same time there is a beauty in the game visually. It looks hand drawn and the versions for Nintendo have much more color, but I still enjoy the game immensely.
If you are into an RPG style action/adventure game, play Zenonia. I havent tried it yet, and I have the .cab file for it but i havent installed it yet so i can't really say. I would suggest going on youtube and check these games out and watch the videos to see if you woudl like them (better yet, do a Google search). If you are into the RTS games, how about checking out Autumn Dynasty Lite? The game is really short, but you can replay it. Both Autumn Dynasty and Huff n' Puff are made by Touch Dimensions. Go on their site and look up those two games. Autumn Dynasty looks like artwork. Trust me, it does!
If you send me a PM, then i can send you links to where I found games and you can check them out for yourself. i found certain full-games (that are on sale through Handango and such) on certain hosting sites and downloaded them from there but I suggest if you are going to do that then to find the .cab file, extract on your PC and run a virus scanner just to be safe. Not sure if a desktop virus scanner would actually pick up a virus extracted out of a .cab file meant for Windows Mobile, but it gives me peace of mind, and I have yet to get a virus. I also have Lookout Mobile Security on my device too for the virus protection (i highly recommend this product).
I hope I was able to help. Please let me know if you found any interesting games.

Game
My favorites games are Skyforce and Bejaweled
I did want to add another post to this thread: if anyone has played Rolling With Katamari, comment on if you liked it or not. The cartoon graphics look nice as it seems to fit with the franchise. There is no real 3D graphics but the game is fun to play and it is addicting. Some of the levels are quite challenging.
One criticism is the on screen controls are not that great. I have to sometimes swipe 4 or 5 times to get the character and the rolling ball to go fast, as that is a speed boost in the game. It makes certain levels almost unbeatable with the time limit and what your objective is.
Other than that, I believe the game is worth checking out. It is a bizarre game but fun nonetheless.

Hi, I would have to check out Skyforce, and bejeweled is a very addicting game to play. I like to just pick up my phone and play a few rounds.
anymore suggestions on what other games you like to play?
the most addicting game i have ever play on my device (well if you like scenarios game-type like i do) is Age of Empires. :x

Must have/Best games to get for Android?

I want to get a list of must have games for my gtablet, so far I have Jet Car Stunts (works great after re-calibration in the options menu) and Angry birds...
What are some other really good games that work well on this tablet ?
You didn't mention which ROM you are rocking but if it isn't one of the newer ones - Stupid Zombies is hilarious fun.
Also Pocket Legends (which works great on Bottle of Smoke HC port) is extremely addicting. I spent two hours playing today and hardly noticed.
Oh, I am on Bottle of Smoke 3.3 ... I assume Stupid Zombies doesn't work on BoS ? I have also noticed I am unable to download stuff through Market lately Maybe I should change to a more stable ROM ...
I'm on Vegan GE and this is the list of games I got working perfectly:
Fruit Ninja
Doodle Jump
Riptide GP
TurboFly 3D
Samurai Vengeance II
They are all pretty damn good. A couple are Tegra exclusives. But they all cost between $1 and $7. Riptide is $7... a little much but its one of the best of the bunch.
Get Android Market...every day they have a free (paid)app download, yesterday's was yoo ninja. It works, but screen is upside down (have to hold tablet with softkeys in your left hand.)
Games I like:
Bolded ones were acquired free from Amazon
The following run fine in landscape mode:
Angry Birds (obviously)
backbreaker (HD) - Football, control running back ot avoid tackles
Samurai II (HD) - Scrolling mash 'em up fighting game
Hero of Sparta - same as ^^
Gem Miner: Dig Deeper - control a miner to find precious metals/gems
Dillo Hills - Android version of tiny wings...gliding and jumping game
Air Control - plan safe landing paths for planes...not as easy as it sounds
Guerilla Bob - scrolling shooter
Guns 'n Glory - pussle based kill the villagers game
Pool Break Pro - best pool game I've probably EVER played
Raging Thunder 2 - racing game, in HD
Shadow Era - Magic the Gathering type game, can be played on, or off line
Walkabout - move a little guy around to collect stars, pussle game
Virtual Table Tennis - uh...ping pong
Hungry Shark - you're a shark and you're hungry...eat things
impossible - not REALLY impossible, just annoying, jump a block to clear obstacles
The following must be run in portrait mode
Air Attack - vertical scrolling airplane shooter
Roller - Skee ball game
Spin Air Hockey - 1 or 2 player air hockey...good, but sometimes my 7 year old son doesn't get the point that multitouch is picky
Pinball deluxe - pinball, pretty cool
Meteor - kind of like Breakout from Atari, but modern and updated
The following run in landscape, but inverted, so your left hand is holding the tablet near hte softbuttons
Deathworm - the movie Tremors? yeah, you're the worm, and you kill things
Yoo ninja - make a ninja jump over gaps
There are other games that I've downloaded from Amazon that either didn't work, or I just don't play (uninstalled) BUT, the fact that they are free...I download them anyway.
Gun bros is a Mega time killer.
Speed x is also a ton of fun.
Open tyrien is an awesome top view flying shooter.
Dweller is my favorite old school rogue like dungeon rpg.
Super tumble is a very cool physics puzzler.
Realms of fortune is an epic first person RPG.
Frozen bubble is good classic puzzle bobble gameplay.
Shadow era is a really fun card based straregy RPG.
The other night, I was looking for racing games that used the tablet's accelerometer to steer and the best ones I found were Riptide GP (jet ski racing) and Raging Thunder 2 (car racing). I had to adjust the steering sensitivity on both of these to get them to drive nicely, but since I did that they both work great. The handling on Riptide GP is a little bit more responsive than it is on Raging Thunder 2, but they both work pretty well after the adjustments.
Most of the other racing games I've tried so far either didn't work or weren't that great:
-Need For Speed Shift said the device was not supported
-Asphalt 5 would get to the menu screen, then would become completely unresponsive
-Raging Thunder (the original one) tilted the accelerometer default about 45 degrees to the right so that you'd have to hold the tablet at an angle just to go straight
-Bang Bang Racing THD (one of the games featured in TegraZone) worked fine, but the view of your car was a little weird and the controls didn't use the accelerometer, so I uninstalled it
Running CM 7.0.3
Reckless Racing by Polarbit plays and looks awesome on the tab. (using Vegan 5.1.1).
For a freebie, iRunner is pretty entertaining and plays well too.
9innings works great for baseball fans.
I quite enjoy playing Full Tilt Rush Poker (with play money of course). Game works fine in landscape.

Full Tilt Rush's domain has been seized by the FBI and the whole "real money" aspect has been called into question.
That said, the game still downloads from market fine, you just can't play it on HC (requires flash) so I can't comment on play.

[Q] I am going to buy a galaxy note in 2 weeks..need to knw about game compatibility

I have read in your gaming thread that many games are not compatible with galaxy note.As i am a gaming freak.itz the main reason i want to buy galaxy note.I want to know in future will this game compatibility issue will be taken care of?or will games be released compatible with the high resolution of note...plz help me...thanx in advance
Tintin from Gameloft
So far, a few games are not quite compatible with the Note, in the sense of looking too "soft" as they were not designed for the larger screen. The most notable fail for me is Adventures of Tintin in HD, which I was excited about seeing on a larger screen, as I purchased it when I owned the Galaxy S2. But the game is a different 2D version (horrible, ultra-pixelated 1980s game kind of look) on the Note. Subsequently, Gameloft prevented Note users from downloading the game but there's no refund. What a bummer, and certainly not an extremely pleasant experience dealing with the customer service, who sounded too matter of fact about it.
I suggest that you list the games that are critical to you, and some of us can help to check.
Help me with gta 3..nfs hot pursuit..9mm..i have read the whole gaming thread..for some people the games run for some they doesnt..vry confusing..
Can you spell out the names of the games? I don't play them...

for me, gta3 ran when i downloaded over wifi, but not when i downloaded over 3g (probably due to crappy 3g in australia leading to corrupted files).
there are many different gta 3 versions on the market, there should be one for your area.
as for gameloft games, most dont really work too well. gameloft arent too great with their device support yet, but theyre not as bad as ea games.
Hey I also game a lot and I just got my galaxy note.
From the gameloft games, I am able to run (well):
- backstab
- asphalt 6
- brothers in arms 2 (there is a free version on the market)
- modern combat 3 (now available on the market)
What I am trying to run but can't:
- tintin (2d version...no way to get the normal one, I also copied the data over but nothing)
- 9mm - doesn't download the data: incompatible device
- shadow guardian : tried the galaxy tab version...data downloaded, gameloft logo than back to main screen
- rainbow six shadow guardian: the desire hd version i bought some time ago doesn't run. I am trying a samsung version now...downloading the data still don't know whether it will work
- let's golf 3: nothing...incompatible device. copying the data over doesn't help.
Other games:
- dead space: not on the market but you can find it and runs flawless
- shadowgun: no problems. available on the market
- shine runner : on the market
- riptide gp: same
- GTA 3 should run without problems...i still have to buy it, i have to finish some games before playing gta.
- sprinkle : flawless (no black bars on the sides)
- reckless racing
And of course some other minor games from the market...of course angry birds, cut the rope, apparatus and some others....but i am more interested in 'gameloft' games and unfortunately no game (apart from modern combat 3) is officially working. To get some to work you have to manually do everything...and not always work. That's why i am trying all the games (which I had bought and never played...what luck now they don't work on the new phone -_-) too see how many i can get to run.
Anyway in January gameloft should update most of the games and get them to run on the device. I am sure they are working on it.
So far every game I have has played perfectly on the note So no problems for me. But then again I don't play any of those games that you play. I'm a casual gamer (puzzles, word games, etc). I highly recommend the Note.
If any games don't run NOW, they probably will because all developers have to do is tweak their configurations.
good news for the original poster
http://tinyurl.com/7kfwsrn
thanks for the info guys
All the games I play kick ass on the Note..
Order&Chaos
Modern Combat 3
Death Rally (man this game is awesome)
I dont play a lot of games though..Also you can use chainfire3d to play games you couldnt normally.
Been using my Galaxy Note for like 3-4months game play is awesome....i have a few titles that jist look great...
Shawdowgun is one of the favorites...
And if your wearing headphones you got the option for 5.1 digital sound...works great in the car as well connected to car radio as well......works grwat for watching movies as well...

Nice vid, nice review
So I was thinking, since there's no dedicated gaming thread, should we make this one into one. I would really like to hear what games people are playing, it can serve as an inspiration to what games others might wanna try out.
This device is a beast with the current best CPU and GPU, so games on this phone is really a treat, also the large screen just makes it an even better experience!
Message has been Baconized
I've been playing NBA 2K14 and NBA Jam and both tend to freeze and cause the back of the phone to get hot.
I've been enjoying drastic emulator replaying all the DS games I've collected up over the years, very impressed as it never dips under 60fps?
Plague Inc gets the device really hot for some reason. The same hasn't happened to me with Trials Frontier or Ingress thus far.
The 3d mark benchmark blows away so many devices in performance. Give it a whirl.. Very impressive..

All phones get hot. OPO is better in dissipation compared to my nexus 4. Check what performance profile you are on. Freezing may occur if you are on "power saver" or "Balanced" modes.

Suggest a linear-ish FPS/3rd-person game with campaign?

So I finished Doom Eternal recently and loved it. I started playing Rage 2 and while the shooting feels great I don't have it in me to play a open-world game, and just feel like a lot of companies are making "open-world" games to artificially pad a game with extra "play time." I am playing Gears 5 currently and feel kind of "meh" about it since it just feels like every other Gears of War game.
Anyway, I wanted to get some suggestions for any fairly-recent (last 8 years or so) FPS games that you particularly liked... maybe even lesser-known games or something.
192.168.10.1
You can try MaxPayne Trilogy while 1st and 2nd versions are way better in terms of story, don't afraid about its age and oldness, it's pretty great to play them... you can also play Hitman 3
Keena and Immortals Fenyx Rising. Not shooter's but they are fantastic 3rd person action.
