I always put my phone in silent mode and plug it in before going to bed. I noticed it turns its screen on several times while charging. I can only assume this is caused by short interruptions in the charging, as the screen always turns on when plugging in the phone.
When the battery is almost full, this often gets extreme as the screen starts turning on and off rapidly. This morning, I took a screenshot of battery usage before unplugging. It shows a decrease in the charging rate towards 100%, indicating my phone put on another light show.
I have tried two different chargers, (one came with the Z3C we're talking about, the other with my Xperia V) a magnetic cable and regular mini-usb, and even two different power outlets (in the same room). Problem persists.
I'm on 23.1.A.0.690, rooted, locked BL.
While I'm not noticing an impact on my battery's performance, I'm afraid this will wreck my battery eventually. My phone is only six weeks old. Anyone seen this before? Any ideas to resolve this?
Anyone? So far nothing has exploded, but I'm still concerned about this.

are you using greenify by any chance? i had this problem, and eventually i checked the supersu app and it showed that it silently denied root access to greenify for some reason like every 5 minutes, that is why the screen turned on constantly. after i disabled greenify, the problem was solved.

I indeed have Greenify installed. SuperSU is set to allow without asking permission. Was yours set to deny? SuperSU's log doesn't show denying access to Greenify. Thanks for the pointer, but I suppose that's not what's causing the problem here.

I finally figured it out: turns out an alarm clock plugged into another outlet in the same room was causing the problem.
I hope my battery didn't suffer too much from these bumpy charging sessions.

Hi guys. Last night, for the second time, something odd happened to my note. I was at 39% battery at about 1 o'clock in the night when I went to bed, and this morning, for the second time, the phone was dead. No battery whatsoever. The first time I didn't worry about it, but now I'm thinking about taking it to warranty.
I had Wi-fi off, 3G-off, no apps in the background(except basic services and avast) , I don't use sync, I have a custom battery saver (same settings as the default one, except I always keep GPS-on). I have XXLC1-ROM (stock - rooted). I have frozen some useless processes with Titanium Back-up(the mini-diary, AP-mobile, Social-hub, Readers hub). I also used the app Battery Calibration when the phone was at 100%, the one created by Nema. Should I be worried and take it to warranty ? It doesn't happen a lot because I usually let the phone charge overnight.
Added a screenshot of battery usage: http://www.picz.ro/show-image.php?id=7873c3532838d733974b56544cc222f5
Install betterbatterystatus app and monitor which app or hardware draining the battery particularly. So that you can monitor and control as wanted. You don't have to take to warranty. There are lot of threads regarding this topic, surf it, lot of ppl got relived from this same problem.
Did u turn off fast dormancy

dude. uninstall avast first of all then do a restart and test it that way
My note went from 98% to 'dead' in 6 hours with Battery monitor showing 'Kernel' as the cause.
I had missed seeing an SMS arrive and the 'preview' of the message was on the screen. This seemed to be the cause.
I love the phone but battery performance is poor. I installed BBS. Enclosed a screenshot. I'm not rooted so can't look into alarm details. Makes me sad. LTE speed amazing but how can you enjoy phone if recharging once during day? Any advice greatly appreciated. I have disabled anything extraneous that I could
I'm using 2x.battery pro right now. Tried all the others too.
The same app set on my Xperia U has none of these battery issues.
Just charge in overnight, I don't see the problem in that. Then you won't have any problems.

charging continuously over extended periods can cause battery failure also heavy use of the phone whilst charging can damage the battery and as the T is a solid phone (cannot change battery) id recommend having it turned off whilst charging that way it will fully charge and you wont damage the battery more .... also try turning data connection 3g wifi etc etc off when your not using it as they can drain the battery a lot checking for facebook ,gmail and almost all your other apps , also listening to music and using bluetooth use more battery too
AW: [Q] Xperia T battery just not there, advice?
1. is that avast installed? Remove it. Useless anyway if you'd ever need it and only uses resources if yu dont need it.
2. battery surveillance crap? Remove it. Known to be very prone to cause wakeup.
3. Update your system, .3.195 is not the latest available.
4. About 5000 wakeups by what looks to me a failing google backup. A wakeup multiplied by 3-6 seconds on-time equals 15000-30000 seconds. Thats 5-8 hours. Thats like what the battery can give. Something is ****ed up, I suggest a fullwipe and start over from scratch.
Oh, and never mind that crap about turning all services off and totally rendering your device useless. Correctly setup the T (TL...?) lasts for a whole day with quite some abuse. And I simply dont trust the minimally booted kernel not enough to correctly regulate charging current and keep the voltages and temperatures in check. I trust the fully booted and full fledged kernel more in that regard. And turning off your device to make it use MORE battery after turning it on in the morning because it needs to go and sync all services again, check all data and find out if anything in the cloud got updated in the meantime and most importantly, needs to run the media scanner again, a very battery hungry process...? No thanks. I'll leave it on. And if that would make me feel bad, I'd use the flightmode as a maximum measure. Still better than killing the device alltogether.
Seems like to me that you might be using loads of craps that you don't need mate.

i bought my phone on 1st march and it was all fine (except the stamina mode led notification) until TODAY. I have experienced 2 sudden battery drainage on the same day and the battery can drop like 70% within an hr and the phone became VERY HOT. I have my stamina mode and location based wifi on.
Now my wifi and bluetooth is not working. I have rebooted my phone and switched off the location based wifi and trying to manually turn back on wifi and bluetooth but still failed! the wifi icon keep blinking but never able to turn on again. i also reset and erase everything of the phone and repair the phone once with the SUS. still NO LUCK!
I dunno if the abnormal battery drainage is something related to the location based wifi mode or the overheat killed my wifi or the wifi problem caused battery drain?. Has anyone experienced a similar issue? or just me? heres the battery screenshot.
Hi,
a member (November49) is having problems with their account, but they wanted me to post this for them in the meantime.
Hello mate,
I bought the Xperia Z the day it came out. I sent the first one back because I thought I was experiencing audio issues. The sellers claim they couldn't understand what I was complaining about, as they said caller audio was just fine.. but they sent me a new one anyway. I don't know, perhaps it is my network, because some callers sound muffled or like there is a separate layer of audio over their voices. I might change my sim card because the replacement unit is exhibiting the same behaviour.
Anyway, overheating and power drain. The phone was kind of ok. I was juicing it a fair bit because I watch movies, use the net, HSDPA+ constantly connected etc. All was relatively as expected, then suddenly, I was experiencing a massive power drain and overheating. Overheating while the phone was charging, really small increments in power when charging so it was taking forever, any use of the phone while charging would drain the battery (even though it is supposed to be receiving power), eg connecting to the net, watching movies, checking/sending messages, anything. The problem got so bad, I requested a second product return code from the dealer and was preparing to send it back.
Brain wave - "what if it was a software conflict with an app?". The phone is supposed to be some sort of behemoth and an app shouldn't have such an effect on it, but it was a thorn that felled St Jerome's' Lion. So I went over what I had installed recently and figured it may be a conflict with SystemPanelLite Task Manager. I immediately uninstalled it. Nothing.. no change. Eventually, the phone drained so badly, it shut down. I kept the charger plugged in, let it drink a little and powered it back up. I charged it to capacity. It was limping for a day or two, similar overheating problems and what not, did a second complete drain and shutdown, booted it back up.
Now it seems to be charging as normal, the battery percentage rising as it should, no extreme overheating while charging.. granted it warms up a little, but I'll take that over what was happening before. Tried streaming some video, watching native video, no overheating or exaggerated drainage. I think it's fixed. To be sure, though, I went to Sony's website, downloaded the software update tool, had it check my phone over, it said it was running the latest software, but I opted to do a factory reset and fresh install just to be safe. It recommends you do so if you are experiencing issues.
I'm in the middle of the fresh install now. If no one hears from me again on this issue, you can assume that uninstalling the offending app, draining and rebooting a couple of times and a factory reset fresh software install has fixed the problem. Well... that's what I'm hoping, anyway.
Good luck, buddy.
update: battery was heating up during use, not too much, but getting warm, losing about a percent every minute or two of watching video. Boxed it up. Sending back. I hope the fix worked for you as it did temporarily for me, but ultimately, I think I have a faulty unit.

I have realised (at least for me) that using Daydream whilst AC Charging is causing a wakelock on the phone after you remove from charge (no deep sleep at all aka 100% awake time).
My phone is pure stock at the moment, no root or any modifications.
I am not sure on the exact triggers, my wakelock seemed to activate when my alarm goes off in the morning causing my screen to turn to daydream mode, I then pick the phone up on the second alarm and unplug before turning the screen off, then the phone fails to enter deep sleep until you reboot.
Others appear to be having the same issues.
For now I have disabled Daydream on charging and I hope this stops the wakelock issue, but as to why it is happening at all I am not sure, the lack of battery stats on KitKat at the moment is fairly irritating.
Anyone else having 100% awake issues? and if so do you use daydream or alarms whilst charging? If so please let us know, and try to disable daydream whilst charging to see if that helps.
(FYI I am using CPU Spy to determine the exact time spent in "deep sleep", but you can get a general idea of how much awake time you have in the general android battery section of settings.)

Thank you for your post. I hav those issues too and was just starting to look into it. I too am using daydream on charge and seen a wakelock yesterday, that i could get rid off by rebooting. I then recharged to get through the rest of the day and the lock came back. And this morning: exact same thing again. I disabled Daydream alltogether and see if it really is the culprit on my system.
Edit: i don't use alarms on that phone at all.

This morning I had finished my first full charge since disabling daydream and my wake-lock issues appear to have gone (hopefully for good!).

First Full Charge after disabling Daydreams: 3h of the charger and AndroidOS kept my phone awake for 1,5h. So it seems that it was not daydream on my device
Just the same as wireless charging causing random wakelocks after you take it off charge, never got fixed on the N4 and the problem seems to have carried on with the N5. Problem is you sometimes don't realise until you have little or no battery left!

Has anyone found any wake lock app that works? I have no clue what's going on because the stock battery info shows my phone sleeping but the drain means there's a wake lock but no way to know what.

no not yet, they don't like 4.4 /nexus 5 do they. I just know something was up as I put it on the wireless charging pad over night and by lunch time I was at 60% with little usage. I recharged and rebooted and then it was back to normal. Seen it all before with the N4.
Phone is regular S5 (not Active) rooted stock. The last two days my phone has had a persistent notification saying Searching by GPS. The phone becomes extremely hot and battery is draining faster than 15% an hour.
I have several Xposed modules, but nothing that I have added in the last month and this started 2 days ago. I can stop the issue by turning off location, but that is not a permanent fix. Yesterday for some reason Plume was the biggest offender in the battery stats, so I deleted that app for good measure, but the issue persisted. Finally after shutting down the phone for 5 minutes and turning it back on, the issue disappeared, but is back today. Any ideas?
Check ur cpu make sure it not hanging.

Nothing hanging. Why is Searching using GPS persistent? I have a lock on location on Google Maps, so there is a GPS lock. What processes or apps might use this?
