Please put pit files for SM-G800F online... i erased efs file without make a Backup... i cant make and receive calls and i dont have network.... please any solution ??? Can i type my imei manually into phone?
Factory reset then reflash stock firmware via Odin. Should regenerate EFS.
No.. I make it but no successfull
Using the EFS of another device would be illegal as the IMEI goes with it. Are you absolutely sure you performed a factory reset from recovery, wiped cache and reflashed firmware form SamMobile? This worked on a Note 2 the last time I had this problem...
Phone info+ app show me no build date, no product code, no Hardware rev. and show me wrong imei number..... its curios.. i make varies factorys resets, hard resets and i flash via odin stock rom....
EFS PIT ??
Could you post the result of the following command in a terminal on your phone?
Code:
mount | grep efs
In the terminal i put your command... without su and with su .. .. I have busybox installed....
Partition itself seems fine then. The following should just return blank. If not, you need to wipe the partition again.
Code:
su -t ls /efs
Efs
Terminal
Till now the commands gives answer... Till now everything fine my friend?
Your imei is ok, not generic number or empty....
The IMEI should be fine if the command returns non-blank. The IMEI I saw on your previous screenshot looked like that of a demo model, which means it was generate due to the EFS partition being unreadable. If you still cannot connect you may try EFS profressional if you haven't already.(Backup current on backup tab, head over to Samsung Tools tab and in other tools select "Format EFS folder". After this flash firmware file in Odin before booting up again). Otherwise I'm afraid to say you may need to take it to a service center.
I did a tutorial for backup in two ways, search in general threads
Did a little research. Seems Samsung (or carriers) has made IMEI repair impossible for S5 and up(including all variants) without a service box. Seems like a service centre is the only option for now in the absence of a backup. Apologies.
I have the same problem with my S5 SM-G900F, IMEI NULL and i think the EFS partition was deleted without backup, more infos in the screenshots.
I dont know what to do guys, help plz.

Again, the only way to repair the EFS on newer Samsung devices is by using a certified Samsung service box, which, unfortunately, costs money. Samsung service centers will have this equipment, but will obviously charge for its usage too. If you manage to get your hands on one via other means, there are plenty of video tutorials around showing how to use it. It should only be a matter of time before a tool is designed for use on a PC, but for now, there is no other option. Sorry for your inconvenience and please ensure you use the correct subforum next time as per XDA rules.

OK, I have one BIG problem. Yesterday I flashed XXJPK and all went smoothly. Even rooting the phone went smoothly. Today I wanted to change back my product code but I forgot to remove the SIM card while I was "playing" with the phone and ADB. Now when I put my SIM card in the phone, the phone won't detect it. It just say "No service". I don't know what to do...
I tried flashing to XXJPK once again and rooted the phone again. Everything went smoothly EXCEPT that I still have "No service".
Of course, I tried wiping the SIM card with soft cloth but it didn't help. Please help me because I really don't know what to do...
EDIT: The one who helps me gets $5 for beer
Did you back up your efs folder? Im not an expert but you could try restoring it from your backup. I've read this can help if your imei gets changed during the flashing process.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Yes I did. But I don't know how can I restore the /efs folder that I backuped before flashing...

OK, I don't know what I did and how I did it, but all of a sudden my SIM card is again recognized. Man... I think I lost few years of my life just now... Huh...
Anyways, as promised, SkinBobUk if you give me Paypal link, I will send you $5 for beer. I don't know if your answer helped or not, but you are the only one that tried to help so... Can I buy you a beer?
Lol you dont have to do that mate. Save it or donate it to one of the clever people on here who made the rooting/flashing, etc possible!
Glad you got it sorted in the end tho.
Which phone exactly are you using? What was your stock firmware?
I don't understand one thing:
-> I have a netlocked phone (yes i have my efs folder backed up from JM7)
-> I flashed JPK, no simcard inside
-> I put simcard
-> Everything is OK!
Howcome you got netlocked?
1. enable usb-debugging
2. adb shell
3. su
4. cp /efs/nv_data.bin /sdcard/nv_data.bin
5. disable usb-debugging
6. connect your phone to your pc with mass-storage enabled
7. open nv_data.bin from your internal SD-Card with an Hex-Editor
8. search for KOR and replace both findings with your original product code, save the file
9. enable usb-debugging
10. adb shell
11. su
12. rm /efs/nv_data.*
13. rm /efs/.nv_data.*
14. cp /sdcard/nv_data.bin /efs/nv_data.bin
15. reboot

I purchased an unlocked, unbranded i9305 S3 LTE and have not been able to back up the NV Data.
I tried this with it completely stock and even though I have tried both settings with DM in Qualcomm USB settings and the port is found in QPST it always says 'No Phone'.
After trying this on several computers, I then installed Clockwork Recovery Mod and Rooted the phone successfully, and still had no luck connecting with QPST with the same 'No phone' message.
I also tried using EFS Pro and the Qualcomm NV Tools, the phone says at first it is connected but the program freezes and then says the phone has disconnected. I tried unticking 'Read Phone version information' and it connects. But as soon as I try to read any data the Rx Tx indicators flash a couple of times in the app and then I get the same Phone disconnected message.
Can anyone help? I have searched here and online and found lots of similar cases but no solutions...
Thank you very much in advance.

I don't own this phone but are you sure you have a Qualcomm processor? From these 2 pages:
http://www.morecellphone.com/phones/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-gt-i9305/304
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i9305_galaxy_s_iii-5001.php
it should have an exynos processor, so those qualcomm tools won't work. (think qualcomms are just some specific models)
Can't you just get into some custom recovery, adb to it from your computer (or terminal emulator) and 'dd' an image from the /efs partition out of it (needs root)?
How i did it:
Opened terminal emulator and typed "mount" to check my mounts. Looked up the one that had /efs on it. It should also say something like "/dev/block/mmcblk0p3" (this is the one on mine, use whatever you got from "mount"). Then do something like:
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 of=/sdcard/efs.img
where the "/sdcard" is the directory where you want your efs image to go. Then you just need to copy the efs.img file to a safe place and you're done.
If you need to recover just do the opposite
su
dd if=/sdcard/efs.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3
Careful with the "if" "of" order, and with what you type. dd is a powerful command and it's easy to screw up irreversibly if you overwrite a different partition by accident.
Another method, I've manually copied /efs file contents with root explorer to my sdcard and later to my computer and was able to use them to recover my phone (had an app wiping my /efs by accident).
This is how i did on mine and worked but i've heard those qualcomm's (if you really have one) have a different method and what i'm saying may simply not apply
Thank you for your response. Unfortunately even though it does not have a Qualcomm processor it does use this chipset for the modem I believe.
I've been following the instructions in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1946915 but not having any luck. The phone is fine but it is not recognised correctly in QPST or EFS Pro....

Hi all,
I have a few small concerns about "[IMPORTANT][GUIDE] What to do after you have bought your Galaxy S3 4G GT-I9305?" - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1967124
I've now rooted my phone and done almost everything exactly as instructed (I also fell into the boot-recovery.p in system folder-trap, but got up again). I finished doing steps 1-5 including Nandroid backup from CWM recovery. Am now back at step 6: "Remember where you left off in 2nd step above? Well now you can go back and complete the partition backup of the efs folders. You should be left with 4 backup files for this final section of the backup process". This I don't fully understand.... I understand that I need to go back to this page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33048706&postcount=1
And what I previously did at step 2 is the 3 headlines shown below with *....*. What I didn't do at step 2 is (---*....*---) below:
-------------------------------------
*Setting up QPST with your PC:*
*Backing Up IMEI / NV Data:*
(---*Restoring IMEI / NV Data:*---)
*Restore USB Settings after Backup / Restore:*
(---*Recovering IMEI And Data Connection After Flashing WRONG Root Package Intended For I9300:*---)
-------------------------------------
I don't really see any headlines regarding "partition backup of the efs folders"? But in the top it says: "Click HERE for information on the long awaited and all new EFS Professional v2.0 including download! Now supporting Qualcomm devices!". I downloaded this program, ran it but am a bit confused about all these settings and options in these programs. I'm also confused because I think that the "[IMPORTANT][GUIDE] What to do after you have bought your Galaxy S3 4G GT-I9305?" is a bit unclear here. I think it's unclear how I exactly get these 4 backup files aka "partition backup of the efs folders". I've tried to search the forum for instructions and it seems like I can do:
1) Download ktool app to phone - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1314719
2a) Install terminal emulator and issue the command: "dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 of=/storage/extSdCard/efs.img bs=4096" - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2269318
2b) Similar method, I think - with busybox and a few other commands: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1089039
3) Just copy/paste the /efs folder - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2369049
4) Use efs backup windows program - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1673059
Question 1: Are there other methods?
Question 2: Are any of these methods better or worser than the other methods? Consider the worst-possible cases, i.e. a some time the phone gets bricked. I suppose using a phone app for trying to restore /efs isn't a good strategy if you cannot even boot the phone?
Question 3: Do all backup /efs-folder applications do the same thing, only copy /efs so I don't need to use "multiple strategies" / "multiple methods"?
Question 4: Do you recommend something, e.g. using multiple of the methods above ("multiple strategies")?
I just would like to ask, because I think the "[IMPORTANT][GUIDE] What to do after you have bought your Galaxy S3 4G GT-I9305" is a bit unclear here and right now I don't really know what exactly to do. I think I'll go for method 3 above if all methods are equally appropriate...? I've never tried to restore /efs and hope I'll never have to do it...
If you have an i9305, you're in the wrong section. This is the i9300 Q&A within the i9300/i9305 section. The i9305 has it's own Q&A given that it has a different hardware specification.
If you have an i9305, please use the /!\ report button top right of your post to report the thread be moved by a moderator.
If you have the i9300, please clarify this in post 1 and remove the link to teh i9305 thread as yuou shouldn't use guides / info about other devices as you could end up bricking your device.

I already linked to this page - this page is what my 4 questions are about. What are you trying to say with the same link to the same page I already linked to? I mean: We're only talking about EFS backup, ok? I also wrote that I did all the steps except doing the EFS backup - did you read that? At least I don't understand your answer, because I don't think your reply answers any of the 4 questions about EFS backup.

Also a very similar and IMHO simpler method is to use ADB with a very similar command line (it is also much simpler since you will be typing on your computer on presumably a normal keyboard and big screen).
To do that in ADB you need to have USB debugging enabled in your ROM (and very likely you need to be rooted). But even simpler/nicer is to actually use ADB with a smarter recovery (I am using Philz on my i9300) - in those ADB is enabled and you are rooted by default

I don't understand you. Why do you think my questions are not for the I9305?
I have NOT - I repeat: NOT edited anything in my original post, but as you can see the original post was in the wrong location and it was then moved to the correct location where it is now. I have no idea why you think my questions are not about the I9305 ?
Ok, now I think maybe I can guess what you mean:
The first question I ask is not very clear, agreed. I write: I think it's unclear how I exactly get these 4 backup files aka "partition backup of the efs folders" + "I don't really see any headlines regarding "partition backup of the efs folders"? " - so sorry about that. But my first question is: What do I do now, because the instructions seems unclear?
The next 4 questions are actually also for the I9305. Maybe you think this shouldn't work on the I9305 but AFAICS I would guess all the mentioned methods are valid on the I9305. Maybe you don't know the answer then - that's fair. My problem is that I haven't made my EFS backup yet, because I wanted to hear you guys first. I write that I'm stuck because the instructions are unclear to me and then I searched the forum for alternative methods. Am I supposed to use the "new EFS Professional v2.0" program and is this the recommended method for EFS backup on the I9305?

Ok, so you agree with my theory that all the mentioned methods are equally good and basically no method is better/worser than the others as long as you have a backup on your pc harddisk?
I think you understood the questions correctly - thank you very much for that. This implies that I can use all methods and there's no difference and nothing is "recommended" in favor of other methods, is this correct? I've never bricked my phone, so I'm a bit unsure here...

Sorry, but I don't understand you. You only linked to a page which I already linked to and you didn't write any explanation or anything. I then explain that I already linked to this page - this page is what my 4 questions are about and I'm asking about how to proceed with making the EFS backup, because I think the page is unclear. I ask which tool is recommended. I ask what you are trying to say with the same link to the same page I already linked to?
I also wrote that I did all the steps except doing the EFS backup - did you read that? At least I don't understand your answer, because I don't think your reply answers any of the 4 questions about EFS backup. Then you deleted your link again (which I already posted to in the first place) and you write that you "give up" - sorry, but I don't understand a word of that. I'm very sorry - not trying to be rude or anything, but I don't have a clue about what you tried to say.
Another problem which I forgot to state earlier is that when I run the program "EFS Professional 2.0.68" I get this message:
BusyBox v.1.21.0 is an unstable release!
If you encounter any issues, it's strongly recommended that you downgrade to BusyBox v.1.20.2 before continuing to use EFS Professional.
Please visit (webpage) for more information.

This makes me afraid of making the EFS backup using this tool and this is also why I ask these 4 questions, before I actually do the EFS backup... Again: Not trying to be rude - so if I'm a noob, asking noob questions or something. I had the I9000 for 2 years and never really had any problems, forgot how I rooted the phone and how I made EFS backup. Now I get this "busybox"-warning, which I don't like... If I try to backup using this tool I use the "Backup"-tab + under "Backup Options" + "Device Filter" I select "*** All Partitions ***" and then I get:
"readlink: applet not found. Please install a BusyBox binary that contains the required applet. Busybox v1.20.2-Stericson is recommended for compatibility"

What now? The program hangs and nothing happens and I have to kill it - this made me post the 4 questions in the top. Sorry that I didn't give these details before now - now you got the whole situation I'm in and the background for my questions...

Preliminary answers to unclear instructions (I edited this post and add the busybox question to the EFS-thread where I think it belongs):
Answer 1: xclub_101 proposed ADB and/or Philz? I haven't tried this yet - not sure if I want to try it.
Answer 2: I would like to hear other opinions.
Answer 3: I don't understand it - using the "root explorer"-method provides a backup of /efs around 2-300 KB. I then tried the "Samsung Galaxy S3 ToolKit" - it produces "efs.img" around 20.480 KB + efs.tar: 205 KB. The "terminal emulator-strategy" gives also a 20.480 KB efs.img-file, but not exactly the same size as the one produced by "Samsung Galaxy S3 Toolkit". So I must conclude that not all applications/methods produce the same /efs-backup. This is pretty weird, I think...?
Answer 4: Now I have a backup using 3 different "strategies"/methods. By the way, I found out ktool is only for I9300 - weird in my opinion because the /efs folder is the same on both I9300 and I9305 and both the 20.480 KB files are produced using commands that work on other phones than the I9305 too...

All methods are very similar indeed - the only thing that you need to keep in mind is HOW you are going to restore the backup if things really go bad.
The "partition physical image" (with dd or similar) is IMHO simpler under all "normal" circumstances (and it might also hold older deleted files that other methods might not even see) but results in a slightly larger file. The only drawback that I see is if somehow you get bad sectors just in the middle of the memory for that partition - but as far as I know that is not really possible with modern NAND setups that have wear-leveling incorporated in their firmware.

Thank you very much - I'm almost satisfied and relaxed now
I'm very happy with the "dd"-method, because it produces a file around 20 MB - the bigger the better, IMHO - better backup too much than too little!
If something happens to my phone, e.g. the /efs-partition gets corrupt, can I always expect that I can boot up the phone, put the backup on my external SD-card and start up a terminal emulator program and then use the "dd"-method to restore /efs? Or should I use the ADB-commands (not exactly sure how to do it). Most important: I have the impression that my two 20 MB backups are fine...
After bricking my device like 10 times, I realized efs backup is very neccessary. so i thought i should post it, so more people can back it up.. efs have major details like meid, imei, serial number, config, diag settings and radio settings, etc etc.. its something like registry in windows.
you can backup efs via adb, root is required..
Code:
adb shell
su
dd if=/dev/block/platform/f9824900.sdhci/by-name/modemst1 of=/sdcard/modemst1.bin
dd if=/dev/block/platform/f9824900.sdhci/by-name/modemst2 of=/sdcard/modemst2.bin
or you can also backup via this code :-
Code:
adb shell
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p24 of=/sdcard/modemst1.bin
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p25 of=/sdcard/modemst2.bin
done..
Restoring efs if you messed it up..
Code:
dd if=/sdcard/modemst1.bin of=/dev/block/platform/f9824900.sdhci/by-name/modemst1
dd if=/sdcard/modemst2.bin of=/dev/block/platform/f9824900.sdhci/by-name/modemst2
or
Code:
dd if=/sdcard/modemst1.bin of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p24
dd if=/sdcard/modemst2.bin of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p25

I actually bricked my phone like 10 to 15 times in 5 days, just to enable extra bands on my phone. i even extracted qcn files from h815, h8111. i was close untill i bricked it again, while playing with sprint policyman which have policies to connect to which band and stuff.. i followed a way from some chinese site and damn.. no qpst, no dfs, no tool were able to read, no imei, no meid, everything on my phone was unknown.. i flashed zv6 tot again, still i wasnt able to restore..
but eventually after going to marshmallow fixed, zv9 flashed new policyman.. THATS WHAT made me backup EFS>> cause in download mode you cant even restore nv via DFS. or qpst. no tool gets connected to the device except restoring via DD
till yet one guy was able to add extra band on sprint nexus (its just not adding band via dfs), it something more.. . and i learned his patching way, basically he extracted parameters from variant and added it on sprint nexus.
soon i will make a thread of my finding about it..

corrected. Thanks..
I bricked my device. Twice, first time i wrote g925f bootloader and unbricked after some time, opened thread about this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...t/guide-repair-hard-bricked-devices-t3573865/
But second time i wrote 5.1 At&T sboot and phone is now completely dead.
Tried everything, even build uart cable and converter...
I read here in xda that it is possible to unbrick with usb otg, i don't believe in this, but it is last option, can't hurt to try...
To try this i need backup of some device with 6.0 firmware with eng. boot (without root shell is impossible to dump backup)
And then in root shell type this for making backup:
adb dd if=/dev/block/sda of=/sdcard/mmcblk0 bs=1024 count=1048576 (pulls a 1GB raw dump)
adb pull /sdcard/mmcblk0 (saves it to the hard drive)
If someone is able to help, please upload me a backup.
I wrote all this here, it has more detailed axplanation: https://forum.xda-developers.com/at...-samsung-g920a-s6-g925a-s7edge-t3564637/page4
Edit: Didn't unbrick phone, at the end sent it to Samsung for warranty repair and they replaced charging board, motherboard, some coaxial cables (black and blue) and battery.
At least i have almost new phone now, Samsung accept warranty, didn't have to pay for repair.
If someone is willing to help and don't know how, here is rooted (adb only) odin flashable image:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/divdnst45jw1jp7/G925AUCS5DPJ1-rooted-upgrade.zip
This WILL NOT delete data, but use only on any 6.0 firmware.
After that just run bck.bat from this archive:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/uic3e6ea48bolox/adb-backup.zip
This will create 4. files. I need this files to try to restore my phone, but also is useful for making backup if someone likes to play like i played with my phone...
