You could do that but at risk of bricking your device, many others have done it which is why I haven't.... Lollipop and kitkat are very different in how they handle operations

I dunno what app is doing it. Though Facebook and Google services are the top two drainers.
Annoying.. Gsam doesn't help me figure out which app I need to delete.

why the hell would he do that? factory reset would be an absolute last resort.... and i have no idea why the hell you think installing apex would help him?
OP do you have google now enabled?
first thing i would do is disable data and disconnect wifi - make sure it is an app trying to fetch data that is causing the problem, if that turns out to be the case then simply stop all apps from syncing automatically and reenable a few at a time until you capture the problem one.
check out whether your GPS is being used too - google now would use your location and fetch data a lot, my money is on it.

Factory reset not working.. Ideas?

I'm rooted (VZW) and use most of the Xposed modules. I woke up this morning and tried to use touchless controls. Didn't work so I did some investigating. Noticed it was turned off so I turned it on. Didn't work. Rebooted then noticed that reboots turned touchless control off. I tried Google now and while it worked, I didn't hear the usual sound that plays once it's acknowledged "Google". From there I noticed I had no sound whatsoever. Bluetooth was on. I turned it off, sound came back but not touchless controls.
Last night I remembered trying to install themed Google keyboards. While it worked, it took uninstalling the stock Google keyboard, installing the one from Google play, uninstalling Google play version, then installing the themed apk. I had since backed up all my apps, meaning I've written over the stock keyboard. Now I don't really think this would effect touchless controls, since I can't seem to fix them, I figured I'd factory reset and see what happened. Unfortunately, it doesn't work through settings. Just reboots my phone. Any ideas? I've yet to try it through a stock recovery or something similar. I've yet to find answers on how that works on this phone (actually haven't searched yet).

If you rooted using PwnMyMoto then it has overwritten the stock recovery. Basically it writes an Android system without write protection on the recovery partition when you root. You will have to flash stock recovery back and then a factory reset will work.

Excuse me for butting in. I've been checking out some threads for the Moto X on both the Q&A and General boards for some time and your the first person that has written about such an issue as far as I've seen. Very strange. Hopefully that factory reset works in your favor.

Please, butt in! I'm hoping to avoid going to stock recovery. Which I'm assuming requires unrooting. I was also having sound issues. No sound until I went into settings and went through ring tones. None would work, no sound. Until I cleared settings from recents and then went back into it and tried again. Then it would work. I began deleting all root apps. It was a module within Xposed. Not sure which but now sound works as it should. I've since deleted all root apps but still haven't fixed touchless controls. It almost seems as if the microphone for touchless isn't working? Aren't there two microphones on this device?

So you've removed Xposed and all modules? Have you rebooted the system since removing them? If I were in your position, I would want to completely unroot and start fresh because if it's a problem with the microphone, it's covered under warranty and you need to get a replacement.
You can follow this tutorial to return to stock, just make sure you download the correct version for your phone. If you're familiar with adb and fastboot, it may be easier to just fastboot flash recovery and system and that should return you to 100% stock unrooted.

Yes, rebooted so much thought I was going to wear out the power button lol. I've switched to my G2 to prepare to go to stock on the X. Was just hoping to avoid going to the VZW store, I really hate dealing those people. Loathe it.
I'm familiar with adb. Just need a good internet connection. I have to use hotspot for internet where I live and while we have TWRP on the G2, no bypass on wireless tether. I thought about trying the method I used on the X but I'm not savvy enough to know if that'll break something. .bak isn't always a sure thing.
Did you have a link to the stock file? I can search it but it looked like in your post you had it.
Edit: all these new phones forgot about the S4. There's my hotspot.
Thanks for help bro

Touchless control apk from kitkat

Can anyone provide touchless control apk latest one from kitkat?
I am on 4.2.2 and touchless control options are different from that of 4.4.
In 4.4 we will get a feedback sound after saying ok google now but in 4.2.2 it doesnt do that.
Please provide the system app.

Touchless control is now updated independent of the OS version as a separate in the Play Store. There is no more 4.4 or 4.2.2 version.

They are a bit different but that's probably due to differences in the OS not the app. Again, the most current version of the touch less control application is in the Play Store.

There is absolutely some difference.. Same with assist.. in 4.2.2 it doesnt have ability to to respond back to messages by voice..

That may be a limitation of 4.2.2 then because the version of Assist in the Play Store allows you to respond to text messages by voice.
Again the differences you are seeing are differences in the OS itself not the apps. The apps are now updated separately through the Play Store. There is no 4.4 or 4.2.2 versions of those apps.

a.) why are you still on 4.2.2?
b.) i'm sure you've already examined this, but are you sure that your phone is not on silent mode when using touchless control? for me, when I use touchless control while the phone is muted, I do NOT get any audio feedback. also make sure to check your volume settings

[Q] Okay Google refuse to listen.. [KK]

** found the problem in post #17**
Does anyone managed to set the okay Google everywhere to work?
First the auto detection from home screen is not working at all..
The icon of the mic that supposed to be filled that means it is listening is always hollow aka not listening..
Also trying to install the okay Google everywhere but when trying to train my voice.. Saying 3 times okay Google... It refuse to hear me.. Kinda like my mic is broken but its not.. When I press manually the mic button and speak, it recognizes me perfectly!
Just to mention that I have it also installed on my tablet, Samsung galaxy note 10.1 kitkat and it works perfect on it..
Also installed it on my brother's Moto G kitkat..
I have the official leaked version of 4.4.2 kitkat.
Anyone ran into this weird problem too?
Thanks

Note the hallow mic on the home screen and the other pic is where I can't continue.. It won't hear me saying "Okay Google" no matter how I say it.. Tried to scream on it.. Whisper it, let my brother try, use a record of the google voice saying it.. Nothing..

It was an app called Floating WhatsApp that caused the mic to be used in the background or something..

Android auto will not open

I've tried everything. Ever since Google play services updated along with the AA app the app closes, and when I plug it in to my head unit I get a notification saying Google play services has stopped.
