1. First, I would like to thank the XDA forum for its excellent tutorial on flashing lollipop rom using flashtool and for the lollipop ftf file. I have successfully flashed my xperia z.
2. I then "successfully" rooted my phone using Kingroot.
3. Please note the word successfully in quotes -- root checker apks tell me that my phone is rooted. Yet there are system programmes that I cannot uninstall.
4. Is it because I have not unlocked my bootloader?
Please share your experience. Thanks to all the people here.
No you don't need to unlock your bootloader.
Kingroot is not a good root tool.

Thanks for the reply. I have gone through the thread you mention. But I get the message which says that sdcard cannot be mounted. Thanks again.

You're saying Kingroot isn't a good rooting tool as it is but within the same answer you're linking him to a step-by-step guide which requires him to use Kingroot ^^
I've had good experiences with Kingroot, just dont use the "Purify"-Functionality after the rooting process
Apart from this, if you use Kingroot and it works for you (meaning no random reboots because of the RIC-issue) you're good to go! Otherwise consider replacing KingUser with SuperSU

You should post this to Q&A Forum and not here
Thread on unlocking bootloader
I don't know what's up with the drm keys and how to recover or back-up them but you don't need to unlock bootloader to root your phone.Instead you can make your own .ftf file or download a pre-rooted rom from mrjraider or from any other user(eXistenZ is a good rooted rom 4.3).
There are instructions on how to do it (depending on what you're needing to).
Good luck with it!
Mods please move it to Q&A Forum.
If you have been reading much the last week or so, it is no longer necessary to unlock the BL to root (assuming you want to stay with 4.3).
It is not for the faint-hearted though, but this applies to those who unlock BL and those who mug around with the 4.3 stock FTF anyway

Here is the link to get unlocked, recovery, and rooted.
I believe this method is very safe as long as you follow it correctly. I've done it multiple times, but like you said, "yes i know i assume all risks involved in the unlock and root process."
You're in luck. As far as I know, kingoroot does not work, so you don't have to mess around with that.
Hello, newbie here. Sorry If I'm in the wrong place, just needed some advice. I recently rooted my moto g via king root then replaced it with super su via wolfdroid method with terminal emulator. I've read it was a bad choice to use kingroot. Well anyhow I wanted to be able to install a custom recovery but have read it's not possible unless I unlock the bootloader as kingroot bypasses that procedure. My question is, is it possible to install a custom recovery on my device with a locked bootloader? Maybe via flashify or twrp manager? If not. What's the best way to fully unroot without doing any damage? Thank you in advance (p.s. I used kingroot as my laptop charger is broke)

I am looking to root, but I'm afraid
I don't speak much english. Sorry!!! (laughs)
This gets asked often.
Fact is, you cannot root the Z3+/Z4 wirh a tool or utility. The only way to do so is to unlock your bootloader, then flash a rooted rom.
I tried using KingRoot, but with no luck. It didn't break anything, though. What I had to do was unlocking the bootloader, then booting up a temporary TWRP-recovery and installing a SuperSU-installer with root binaries through that, as well as a kernel that allowed root privileges. It worked like a charm in Android 6.0 without any signs of misbehaviours
Can it? I don't have access to a pc so I can't really install any of the more complicated ones. And since we're probably not getting Oreo, might as well root my device. I just need confirmation if P9 can be rooted with Kingroot.
For the beginning, without unlocking Bootloader you can't affect Boot partition to get it rooted
you can root huawei p9 with kingroot, if your phone are on b136 or b166, if your phone are on never version, then you cant root it with kingroot!
It only works on marshmallow I think
Maybe you can root MM builds with Kingroot or Kingoroot, but IMO only upon you unlock Bootliader - for which you need fastboot from PC

Told you, this is not old KK or L. You need PC (maybe MAC can do) for Fastboot commands
Btw, take Kiingroot/Kngoroot or whatever and try yourself

Can you give me a link on how to root P9 with a PC? What do I need to do?
Please use Google and search for the corresponding threads/guides on XDA
Read them carefully and if you have furtger questions please ask in the correspondibg threads
1) Unlock Bootliader, same procedure for P9, Honor, etc
https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-root-honor-7x/amp/
https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...ide-unlock-bootloader-twrp-root-t3405701/amp/
If Huawei site to obtain the code is not available, search again on XDA, somebody recently posted an e-mail address to ask for the code there.
Or search and pay for DC Unlocker
2) Do not use TWRP from SRK tool in (1) - it's for old EMUI and MM, flash TWRP for EMUI 5.01/Nougat:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/twrp-t3565703
3) Root by SuperSU
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/root-supersu-2-81-emui-5-t3612258
or search for how to root by Magisk
or flash pre-rooted ROMs
