Bad roms with no deep sleep or missing links. - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So far out of 9 roms I have tried here most of them have deep sleep issue's and bugs.
No offence meant but this is very frustrating for me as the downloads cost me a lot "don't try resolve my internet problem it's a paradox"
I'm thankful for all the developers efforts but I have seen better roms on lesser phones developed in much much less time.
On top of this everyone here is SOO helpful.
Just getting a verified safe to use rom and Gapps seems to be hell.
Would rather be on stock bloatware.

I'm using CM11 with the default kernel (& even when I used custom kernels) & deep sleep works perfectly. Regarding the bugs, there's no ROM without bugs even the stock ones. Roms without bugs is an urban mith. Good luck

I'm using cm11 with xposed for a long time. Cm12.1 works too, but the is not so stable for my needs right now nor xposed, since it's in an alpha stage yet.

Thanks a lot for all the help buddy.
One last question i did a search and clicked a few links .. is there a flashable xposed framework?
And what Kernel would you suggest?

Don't know, I installed xf as an apk. All the kernels that I tried, still prefer the default one. It has some limitations but it's more stable.

I personally flash every nightly, because I'm an update fiend. If you think you are a "noob" then just stay on stable.
Changelog can be found here: http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=encore I recommend adding it to your bookmarks.

Thank you very much for the opinion...im going to take it...wish me luck
Didn't want to start a new thread to ask a simple CM7 question. I understand there were release candidates, but what does "stable" actually mean? I know there are still outstanding issues like music playback and battery drainage due to lack of "deep sleep" and what not. I'm assuming there is still a good amount of development to be done. So what is considered "stable" on the road map?

IT MEANS AWESOME!
But seriously. CM has the best (imo) mods out there. They are perfectionist, and when we hit stable, that means everything (+BT) works. Dal is tweaking kernels because he is awesome and a perfectionist (did I mention awesome?), but everything works. Get the stable. Also, flash gapps. Then, flash Dal's OCd kernel 4/04 (the latest official build). Then you're golden.
No offense to other devs out there making nice roms. They are nice. I just tend to have zero problems with CM releases
EDIT: Yes, sleep is an issue (not much for me, but not stock [lose ~1%/hr w/CM, ~0.2% stock]). We have flash. We have more apps. I like new and exciting stuff. To each their own.
Also, wifi is flaky on some. It was when I went to the test 4/13 kernel and ALSA, but went back to everything that was "certified".
I'm stoked!
If I am already on nightly 36/Dal's kernel/gapps, do I need to reflash Dal's kernel/gapps when I flash to stable or nightly 39?
you need to reflash Dal's kernel after you flash a nightly each time, but you don't need to reflash gapps. This is assuming you didn't wipe. If you do a wipe you'll need to reflash gapps, i'm sure you know, but just in case
Thanks you will give it a whirl.

Will I need to stay on the nightly 39 kernel if I want to take screenshots? OR can I still flash Dal's kernel with nightly 39 and still be able to take screenshots?
I'd say just stay stable for now, since nightly 39 doesn't add anything feature-wise for NC.

Did you already try it yourself? NEVER I REPEAT NEVER release a ROM, without having tried it yourself... Noone wants a ROM, that probably bricks ones phone...
Ok, it's proved to work, obviously.
Sorry for my criticism then, but I have already seen a lot of guys publishing their stuff, without testing and then bricking a lot of noobs devices... quite uncool Hope you feel what I mean
---------- Post added at 11:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:16 PM ----------
Ok, I am still about to test it, so I cant say much on this right now, but I already have one thing, pls dont use my nandroid. Better flash a fresh rooted version by Serg... in the dev section, since my nandroid and Redys repack might contain bugs, that I brought in, in order to be able to root the phone. I changed a lot of settings and probably a lot of files through this and I dont know, if this bug wont keep on being in your ROM then and might cause failures. So this is the first thought
Ok, short run, and I gotta confess, it is FAST and very reactive. Good point.
Found a few bugs though.
And I am not a fan of the HTC look, but that's not important, I think some ppl like it a lot.

Here the bugs/things I would change.
Lockscreen: I dont like the LG look, i prefere the one Huexxx found/DxDiag32 ported or even the CM7 one, like this:
Remove the Musicplayer from notification, since it is without function:
Remove Widgets, that dont work:
Add reboot and recovery reboot option here:
Nice Widgets are in there as well:
And they are resizeable:
Pretty cool
So all in all, a cool ROM, but still need some work
And like I said, maybe use a clean v20n german ROM to begin with, even though it is really smooth.
A custom kernel plus some more governors would be nice, to make it completely laag free, but you could also at least implement the new kernel without turning off softkeys. Pretty easy, if you work with the kitchen
I would take the one with stock LG kernel, but DVFS disabled, cause then we can use apps like SetCPU, without a lagging/freezing phone and set stuff the way, we want it to.
Hope it helps you a bit
Tnx nooby im going to work on it but abouth the lockscreen i was thinking if htc lockscreen.

This is not my work.
This Rom is ported by spegelius. I've found this here: http://forum.slimroms.net/topic/100-galaxy-s4-active/
Everything seems to be ok.
Bugs:
720p video recording produces crap video(but 1080p works fine)
HDR
Download:
-Rom
-Gapps
Screenshots:
I am sorry I posted in General but i couldn't post in Development.
Thanks for making this more public, this way more people will get the chance to try it
Just one important hint, @spegelius didn't port it, he compiled that beast from Source, which is an important fact
I can confirm that this is a good, daily driver for sure!
Greetings
Thomas

Oh hey, thanks for putting this up . I never got around to it, didn't seem that too many users were interested about it. But good to hear it works for people. And about the build, i used LeJay's kernel sources etc to make it happen.
Happy to know about this! Already dowwloaded it but I need my phone working this weekend and I can't risk to have any kind of problem, I will surelly try it as soon as I get home next week.
Thanks a lot! Hope more people start working on I9295, my son's Moto G just got the OTA 4.4 update, lucky him!

What Android version is this based on? 4.2, by any chance? I was foolishly hoping that it could work with Safestrap for us suckers without the international variant.

Install the rom? Flash it with CWM. Install the kernel? Well i don't know about other devices than Intl S4 Active, but inst it like, even if there was such kernel, it can't be flashed due to locked bootloader?

This looks good. Has anyone (besides spegelius) flashed it? I'm reasonably satisfied with my rooted 4.2.2 stock ROM and really want to move to 4.4. On my SIII I already had KitKat and now I have to settle with 4.2
Cheers
I installed this ROM but google play acts strange. It doesn't reinstall all my packages and still refuses to install for instance swype. I chose for the aroma gapps but will do a new wipe and try another gapps
Cheers
Must have been the gapps. Up and running now and reinstalling apps. Looks good
Cheers
I have several issues. My titanium restored Wi-Fi passwords are disappearing each time. The phone discharges as fast as it is charging. It will probably be empty after 1 hour on battery.
I think I will switch to my LG G2 I recently acquired... any ideas?
Cheers

He is asking for kit kat rom (4.4)!
4.1.2 is JB!
Nowadays I m trying all differnt roms and want to share my persnol experience.
1. Slimkat- it is the fastest rom among all the roms i tried. It is very smooth but lags extra feature.
2. Liquid smooth- there are some bugs in it which will be fixed in next release.
3. SOKP- A good rom with lots and lots of features. But some options in the settings are crashing.
4- Reserrection Remix- The best rom with lots and lots of feature amd smooth too.
I would suggest slimkat if u want smooth rom and dont want much features. I was not able to use wifi direct in tht rom with superbeam too.
And if u want more features then u can go with RR. Its upto u.. Try several roms and see which suits u. Hit thanks if i helped

GB or JB? If you want GB, than JetMOD. Look for its thread.

[Q] Viper4Android not working on Tmo Note 4 after lollipop update

Ever since I updated to lollipop my V4A audio driver has stopped working and after several different kinds of reinstalls and whatnot i still cant get it to work. Any idea what I can do to fix this? I love the phone sadly it just lacks a bit in sound quality over the headphone jack and viper4audio helped a lot with that. Ive looked the issue up on several forums but I only get fixes for nexus or custom roms, help with stock rooted note 4 fix please

In order to get V4A audio, you need to install a custom kernel that supports and can change SELinux to permissive. In my case I'm stock rooted with AEL kernel installed.
You can install whichever kernel you like for Lollipop, but it needs to support Permissive, for V4A to work.
Hope it helps,
Cheers.

It shouldn't affect or interfere with your apps. I've been using AEL for a while, and it's been flawless. ?
As the previous post states, put the kernel on your SD and flash with TWRP or CWM.
