I'm sorry if I'm posting in the wrong area, or if this is posted somewhere else, but I have a cricket HTC Desire 512. Does anyone know if the Desire 510 ROMs will work with this phone?
Thank you in advance,
Casey.
They're identical on the outside but have slightly different guts. I highly doubt 510 ROMs will work with it

Yeah, none of the rom's work on this phone, I've been hacking at this for hours:
1983 fastboot flash recovery twrp-2.8.5.0-golfu.img
1991 fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-bravo.img
1999 fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-ace.img
2008 fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-bravoc.img
2012 fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-saga.img
2021 fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.2-protou.img
If anyone figures it out let us know!

STOP. Don't just flash recoveries from other devices to your device! You can potentially screw yourself royally.
Support for the 512 is virtually non-existant (I'm unaware of any), so if you can.... then I'd return the 512 to Walmart and visit a Cricket store and pick up the 510.

WHAT DO I NEED?
1- Ubuntu (i'm on ubuntu 13.04 but also other Linux based distros should work)
2- rom.zip (follow the above guide if you don't have it)
HOW TO INSTALL THE TOOL
Ok guys now we are going to install the tool
Create a folder named htc_tools (if you already did it in the previous guide then you can use it)
Code:
$ mkdir htc_tools
navigate to that folder and download the source of the tool by typing
Code:
$ git clone https://github.com/kmdm/ruuveal.git
ok now we have to set up this tool
Code:
$ ./autogen.sh
$ ./configure
$ make
Allright, now you are ready to use this tool!
Code:
$ ./ruuveal --device [device code name] rom.zip (name of rom.zip decrypted).zip
for example
and now you're done you can find the file in the ruuveal folder!
Good guide!
It can help some guys with the first look in HTC devices
yeah, HTC has changed the encryption method with the latest HTC One RUUs so it is also needed for the Devs that are jumping onto it
Thanks Matt, great guide, anyway, i will pm you again for this task

That's bigger than me mate i didn't make this tool so i cannot make it available for the DHD. I'm sorry to tell this but probably you won't see this for it cause it is an outdated device nowadays...
well, that's unfortunate!
BUT if I open this rom.zip, get the system.img and flash it through the recovery WILL it work? what are the risks of doing this?

Nope.
1) you can't flash an image (.img) in recovery
2) There are a lot of risk, don't so this.
3) Rom.zip is the base for develop a custom rom.
You have to extract the folder with all the folder and libs from it...

OK, I see. But what if I extract and then repack the contents of system.img?
Sorry for being so pushy and/or ask stupid questions but I want to have some kind of closure of this issue.

Which issue?

The issue is if I can flash an original HTC rom... not the entire RUU, as it contains some other stuff which I don't want to change... recovery, splash, Hboot, radio...
the reason is, when I flash a new ROM and something doesn't work or stops working, I would flash this "stock" rom and test whether the hardware works or not. I know there is Android revolution HD which is basically a stock rom, but it has also some tweaks which I'm not interested in.
Hope I'm clear about what I want to accomplish.

So there isn't any issue.
And we are totally ot here, because this thread talk about how to decrypt a ruu.
When you have the rom.zip, you have to use this kitchen and build the stock rom.
p.s. Probably the rom you flashed aren't fully compatible with the hboot/kernel that you have.
In fact, is better use the full ruu.
If you're s-off, is the better choise, because you can flash the splash screen, the hboot and other thing in 2 min
Mine is only an advice
If once extracted you end up with a system.img you can flash this through fastboot just fine. You can also change the contents inside, remove and add things but it may not flash unless you are s-off.
And you can flash an image in recovery but you need to create the proper updater-script to do so.

Nice guide. I had to do it a little differently (running on Ubuntu 13.10 x64). Now if only I can find the right places in the open source to manually add K2_CL. Been reviewing the updates made on git and reviewing all the most recent changes given by dates in hopes to see what is added when support for a device has been implemented. Issue has been sent, but I'm getting impatient. Really need it for my project. :-/
What would it take to get this to work with the htc one m8? I would like to decrypt the rom.zip out of the official at&t 1.58 ruu. I have already grabbed the rom.zip out of the exe, but seeing as m8 is not listed here I was wondering if m7 or anything else might work for this. A lot of people are asking for the decrypted ruu so they can flash through fastboot. Thanks in advance for any advice.

You need to grab the ruu for that specific device and you also need to grab your devices' HBoot image. Send both to the developer and he can add support.

Hi, I have searched and I have tried, reaching out...
Desire C Cricket HBOOT 1.63 Radio 0.92.00.0903 Unlocked Bootloader S-On
I was trying to put a recovery on and root after unlocking bootloader and for whatever reason I cannot get into any recovery other than stock. Once in stock I cannot flash anything. Only thing I could tell was previous owner had a customer kernel on it but now I cannot get past the HTC red writing screen.
Normally in this situation I would go back to stock via PL01DIA.zip update in bootloader but I cannot find a viable one for this specific device.
OK, somehow got a working CWM Recovery. But I cannot get any roms to boot past the HTC red writting screen. Does anyone out there have a full CWM backup of a working Cricket rom?

Thanks guys! Sorry for bugging around this forum. Anyone with CDMA ping me, I'm not finding any friends I need a clean back up of any Cricket rom from CWM since it looks like the RUU was never made.
Or, if anyone knows how to change the CID on this phone without S-off. Just looking to make it an MP3 player.

I am wanting to download the Google edition of the 4.4.2 kit Kat update for the Sprint HTC One but am having no luck, can someone help me? I need a sense Rom and I don't like the new update Sprint provides. I'm currently on viperrom 3.5.0 because they don't have the newer versions for Sprint. Everything I look for good Roms they say I need TWRP 2.6.3.3 but the Sprint version is only 2.6.3.0. I'm just sad about this I really want the Google edition.
Use the latest version of TWRP,CWM, or PhilzTouch and you should be ok

I don't think that you can run Google edition. That is a GSM version and not CDMA. I would wait to see if someone can confirm that before you hose your phone. Know that they have unbrick directions for those that flash the GSM version on Sprint (which is CDMA).

Put the file in your platform tools folder
Open a cmd window from that folder
Type adb reboot bootloader
It should say fastbootusb
Type fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img

I rooted my new Desire 510 today and I want to change the DPI. I did some googling and couldn't find how to get S-Off on the Desire 510. It says S-ON when I go into fastboot. Anyone know how to get S-Off?
You have to flash a kernel for your carrier with write protection removed. Look in Desire 510/Android Develooment for the kernel that matches your carrier, download it, back up your stock kernel (boot img) or download your stock kernel from one of the threads in Desire 510 Android Development, flash the write protection removed kernel using ADB or Flashify (look for it in the Play Store), change your DPI, and then flash your stock kernel back if you so choose. Done!

Thanks for your input. My carrier is Telus, the Canadian variant. I'm not sure if using the Sprint/Virgin kernel will mess up my phone, or any other kernel for that matter. I asked the same question in that thread and I got a reply saying it will be fine, I'm not quite sure that is correct though. Any thoughts?
It will, DO NOT DO IT. Sprint is CDMA, Telus is GSM. There is a better way. DO you have this file: 0PCVIMG_A11_UL_K44_DESIRE_SENSE60_AIO_TELUS_WWE_1.11.661.1_Radio_1.101.1372.19.0725_10.22.4205.00L_release_391960_combined_signed_2_4.zip ?

I already got that file. What I need now is the HBoot file that goes with that version. It is needed to calculate the key to decode the zip file. The idea is to get a VM/Sprint CDMA phone running on a GSM network.

You do not need s-off to do that But you should still try it just purchase it http://theroot.ninja/... All you need is to install a recovery and then install a different kernel other than the stock one and then you'll be able to delete all of the bloatware.
Okay, thank you. Someone told me I needed s off. I have TWRP installed, so that should be good, right?

Yes, just make sure you use a different kernel/boot because if you don't and you delete all the bloatware, the minute you reboot your phone all of the bloatware is going to reinstall itself again. So don't waste time deleting anything if you don't flash another kernel/boot first!

In the end, no matter how much you delete you're only going to end up with close to 1GB of space out of the entire 4GB that's available on the phone because the other 3GB is on a partition that we don't have access to so trying to get all of the 4GB won't work.
That's fine. I'm not trying to obtain a whole bunch of space, just want them off.

I believe that the HTC desire 626s twrp image should work with the 626w. But you do realize that even if you flash the twrp image onto the device, you are going to need to need to s-off the device. If you don't s-off the device then everytime you try to flash GAPPS, the device will fail and reboot immediately. As of right now there isn't even a way to s-off the 626s let alone the 626w, Just a warning in advance.
