[Q] Why does flight mode automatically enable itself? - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm on Android 5.0.2 with firmware 23.1.A.1.28 (which I got through Sony instead of a "manual" install/update). I've noticed that sometimes the phone will auto-enable flight mode. It can happen once every few weeks or multiple times a day. Any idea what's going on?

I'm assuming that's a software problem, you can always try flashing a fresh FW Ftf file via Flashtool, just be sure to download the firmware corresponding to your model number ( Either D5803/833 )

you might need to do a factory reset then update the firmware again, I think the update to 534 didn't go too well... also happened to my samsung phones preiously after updating to latest firmware...

I was just about to post about the same issue. Twice now when driving I have noticed that the phone suddenly reboots. It's sitting in a passive car holder (no power, NFC, bluetooth etc). But it's just in my line of sight so I quickly notice when it suddenly boots.
I have no idea if it does this the rest of the day or not as well. But this is not a good sign.
if resetting to factory setting then re-updating the firmware does not work, try to re-flash the stock firmware using FTF files...

this usually happens when there is some conflict with the firmware.. very common issue with all android phones...
I'd flash it with flashtool.
I did a "reflash" of the latest firmware using the PC companion software that came with the phone. Will report back in it helped or not.
I did a factory reset.hope will solve it

Random reboots

Hi. I hate this phone.
After three months since I got it, one day it turned off by itself and never turned on again. I sent it to customer care in the store where it came from, and they changed the battery. The moment I got home, the phone had the same problem. So I tried Sony PCC to repair it. It turned on, I installed some apps and suddendly it turned off again. I suspected it was because I deactivated bravia engine, but I'm not so sure that's the problem. Anyway, I decided to downgrade to Android 4.1 version .254 with root. Now the phone seems to be working. But sometimes it just reboots by itself. It happened once when I was scrolling Facebook, and twice when I was using Chrome. It just reboots and restars like nothing happened.
Is this a Ram problem? I can't put the latest firmware because the phone doesn't work AT ALL with it. What can I do?
Hi. Try to flash 254 fw with flashtool. It could help.
Flash the latest FTF via Flashtool
I have quite similar issue on my Xperia SP (random reboots). I have latest official rom installed via PCC.
Try switching off Stamina Mode and see if it keeps happening. It seems to work in my case.

S800G ANJ2 crushes (restarts)

Last Month when i bought s800g And first Run I saw an update to ANJ2. OF course i've completed an update. During month od using it restarted itself 5-6 times at night. This is disturbing, when coudnt wake up because phone is of and clock And alarm just dont work.
I found that in beginning of december they have realesed ANL1 firmware, but my phone doesnt see this even in kies. Is it reasonable to try to do it manually? Will it help? Or maybie this is hardware issue? Has someone similar problems?
S800G? You mean G800F maybe?
Yes, I had ANJ2 for a short time and it was indeed very buggy. Problems with receiving calls and random phone restarts. Luckily I had an update to ANL1 a few days ago and it seems to work OK now. What region is your phone CSC? You can try and manually install a ROM from a different region, although there are some issues reported with updates failing to install due to partition size incompatibility.
You can see all the available firmwares on sammobile.com or samsung-updates.com

[SOLVED][D503][5.1.1] Wifi keeps dropping after 5.1.1 update

Hello,
After getting the latest 5.1.1 OTA (build 23.4.A.0.546), my Wifi connection keeps dropping irregularly: sometimes the connection is stable for one hour, most of the times it drops after a few seconds. This happens on any Wifi network (tried both home, work and public Wifi).
Sometimes after a reboot the WLAN mac address is "unknown" and then I can't get a connection at all (I have to reboot until my mac address "comes back")
The connection drop happens in Safe mode as well.
Steps I've tried to fix this:
-Repair phone with PC Companion => doesn't change anything, Wifi is even unavailable during the setup process after initial boot.
-Tried flashing with Flashtool to a previous Lollipop version (5.0.2 23.1.A.128 which worked fine with my phone before) =>
doesn't work: I can't flash the device, despite installing the latest (0.9.19.0) version of Flashtool and the drivers, I have the following error when preparing the firmware:
Code:
16/054/2015 18:54:07 - INFO - Selected Bundle for Sony Xperia Z3 Compact (D5803). FW release : 23.1.A.1.28. Customization : Customized_FR
16/054/2015 18:54:07 - INFO - Preparing files for flashing
16/054/2015 18:54:07 - ERROR -
16/054/2015 18:54:07 - INFO - Cannot open bundle. Flash operation canceled
The firmware was downloaded through Mega, with a link provided in the Xda forum thread with the firmwares list.
For the sake of it, I tried with two different firmwares: another downloaded from the forum, and one from Xperifirm; unfortunately the same error happens in Flashtool when preparing the firmware.
Any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks.
I'm using same version firmware and the Wifi works perfectly. have you tried deactivate "Auto IP support" and "Passpoint"? and try turn off Stamina mode.

Yes, both Auto IP support and Passpoint are deactivated.
The issue persists with or without Stamina mode activated as well.

I've downloaded two firmwares from that list and tried to flash my phone with Flashtool without success.
I already had installed the drivers while disabling the Driver Check Enforcement as specified on your link, and tried with the method described in http://www.xperiablog.net/2015/03/17/guide-to-installing-xperia-lollipop-using-xperifirm-and-flashtool/ as well but I'm having the same error message.
Any idea on how what I could have missed to make Flashtool work?
Thanks for your help.
Make sure you have the latest version of Flashtool and place it on root path C:/ or external HDD E:/ G:/ and so on. Firmware must be placed in C:/users/<your username>/.firmware (not sure if it is correct)

Thanks to you, I was able to find my mistake: I was foolishly trying to create the bundle from the downloaded firmware, but I just needed to paste the downloaded firmware in the folder: C:\Users\<UserName>\.flashTool\firmwares
I was able to flash my device with the 5.0.2 Lollipop version and the WiFi is working fine so far.
Still don't know why I had problems with 5.1.1 in the first place but I can work with the previous version while waiting for 6.x.x.
Thanks again for your help.

I'm having WiFi issue on 5.1.1 too, on my Z3 compact. Sometimes (seeming randomly) after waking the phone, the wifi icon in the status bar has a ' ! ' next to it for a while and I don't get an internet connection untill the ' ! ' is gone. Usually takes around 5 to 15 seconds.

Flashing stock firmware using Odin/Smar Switch - does not work

Hi all,
I'm having an odd issue. No matter whether I used Odin or Smart Switch I can simply not flash a stock firmware. Regardless of the method, the following always happens.
Downloads firmware to device
Reboots
Shows Android dude with "Installing update"
Stops half way through
Shows Android dude with "Erasing"
Disappears after few seconds
Reboots
Nothing is changed. Same as before the whole process...
EDIT: I actually got somewhere. I flashed an older firmware than the one on my device and it did change the firmware and baseband, but it didn't erase all the data... Is this the normal procedure when you flash a firmware using Odin?
Is it possible Android stops the software update if it sees the battery life is not high enough?
EDIT: nope. Charged to 100%, tried again in Odin. Same story...
Try changing usb cables or ports on your computer..make sure you are using a usb 2.0 port on your computer.

Stock firmware not correct work...
Good morning guys,
I have a problem installing a new firmware with Odin often you accept it as an update of the same non-erasing the data partition and then of course creates problems of battery drain absurd.
Other times aa deletion is successful but the phone has an abnormal battery consumption by approximately 6% per hour, in first place in consumption are the Android operating system entries and operating system that have a 40% higher consumption .. .
I also tried setting then further OTA but the situation does not change.
Can someone help me?
Have you rooted the phone previously? Rooting causes battery drain issues on the Note 5 which are fixed by installing the latest version of SuperSU.

Hi krazykirk thank you for your interest, I no longer want to root the device as I'd like to sell it. Anyway by the time here I install supersu with twrp o auto-root the battery drain disappears.
