Hi
I have the AT&T galaxy s6 edge 128GB, I've being using it for about a month now. The phone is amazing except for when I hit the home button which causes a short pause before showing the widgets and the shortcuts. After contacting Samsung they gave me these instructions which seems to work:
Enter into safemode by:
1. Switching the phone off.
2. Switch the phone on + hold the volume down button.
3. when the screen turn on, release the power button and keep holding the volume down button until seeing the lock screen.
*THIS PROCESS WILL SOFT REST YOUR PHONE. MEANING THAT YOU BE LOGGED OUT OF ALL YOUR ACCOUNTS LIKE TWITTER AND INSTAGRAM AND IT WILL DISABLE ALL THE PLAY STORE INSTALLED APPS UNTIL YOU SWITCH BACK TO NORMAL MODE*
After entering the safemode, use the phone for about 25 minutes then restart it to normal mode. That's it.
So have you seen any performance improvements?

I saw a difference. The phone was fast and smooth in the safemode, which means that one of the apps that I installed is causing an issue when I use it in normal mode.
Sorry for the late reply

Hello all,
Maybe that will be a bit helpful, I've discovered SAFE MODE.
When I changed back shell in one of mine HTC Raiders, I left protecting tape on side buttons,
what means they were pushed-in all the time during powering up.
I was a bit surprised when watermark SAFE MODE came up in bottom left corner of my screen.
1. Pull battery out the phone.
2. Press power button and in the same time press and hold both volume buttons.
3. Hold both volume buttons down till you will see your home screen.
4. To exit SAFE MODE normally reboot phone.
I do not know what we can do in that mode yet.
But I think is hidden mode.
see screenshots.
Yeah I got this too on my att vivid I am confused as to what this actually is for
Edit: I am also on 4.0.3 ics

I've used Safe Mode on other Android devices to uninstall apps that were causing force close loops (you know, boot the device, app force closes, restarts, force closes, never letting you get past a force close box). All it does is boot the phone without launching third-party apps.

Hi,
Is it possible to boot in safe mode, i.e. with no user application autoloading ? Does this capability exist with any stock or custom ROM or Kernel ?
Nope

Thanks.
Does it exist in any Android implementation ? If yes, is any Dev working on it for the SGN ?
Android doesnt know what safe mode is

I think that's not entirely true.
A couple of users complained about their device booting in safe mode accidentaly, and someone knowledgeable (like Dr. Ketan, for instance, I'm not sure) said that you can boot in safe mode like this:
Tap repeatedly on the menu button while your Note is beginning its boot.
Never tried it though.
The trick is to be holding the left/menu button during the transition from the animated "S" screen to the screen that follows. BUT, the key must also be unlit. Because the LED automatically turns on again after 3 seconds, you have to tap and hold the key every couple of seconds, and do it quickly.
Update: Depending on the phone and firmware, you may just need to hold the menu button until Safe Mode appears - which makes it easier.
To exit safe mode, hold the power button for 8-10 seconds. It will force a full shut down. Then power it back up normally.

Its like the safe mode in PC
Basically crash the sgn and I think it will boot safe mode, although I didn't do it on purpose
(I think you can make it happen by fully using up all the ram and thus making it super laggy which could freeze the device then constantly press the home button constantly) but take my word on it...

If some misbehaving application autoloads and makes the phone unstable (bootloops) it is often impossible to identify the culprit and frezze/uninstall it. Safe mode may help regaining control and diagnosing & correcting the problem.
Safe Boot does work
You've got to constantly tap the left/menu touch button, tap-hold-let-go the button on every one second interval while powering on. Then it'll show when it reaches the lock screen, that device is running in Safe Mode.
As said above, Just keep pressing legt touchscreen button and home button, it worked for me, but all apps in the app drawer are set back to 'the begin' ;p

experienced going to safe mode accidentally when im showing off my new bootanimation with my brother... silly right?
You can Simply boot safe mode without 3rd party apps
Boot your phone holding both up volume and down volume key
and your phone will start in safemode so you can remove any app that may coz problems
I turned on the new extreme power saver mode when my battery was low, which gives you a limited home screen. If I try to exit it, it just hangs at "Please wait...". There is no way for me to get back to my regular home screen, apps, setup, etc. I can launch the browser from my lock screen, but I do not have access to the pulldown shade. I've tried soft and hard rebooting the phone. I'm fully stock s-on.
Anyone else have trouble with this? Any way for me to get back to a normal working phone?
I contacted HTC support, they said there may be apps that interfere with the extreme power saver mode. I had to factory reset the phone.
Hopefully they figure out the issues.
Here's how I got out of it. I went into kid mode by pressing the power button. Then I rebooted into safe mode. Then I deactivated it and rebooted. It happened a few days ago. Play around with turning it on and off if it doesn't work! Never touching that mode for a while!

I switched on extreme power saving mode because I only had 6 percent battery life left and didn't have access to an outlet. Now that I do have it charging, it wont let me disable it. When I click exit it just says Please Wait (been like that for about 20 minutes). Any idea how to fix this?
I am completely stock and unrooted
I've tried shutting down and restarting

Only way i can think of is to reboot to bootloader and factory reset. Plug it in your computer to see if you can save your pics and stuff. If you went to a sprint store that is what they would do.
To get into bootloader power off device hold volume down and the power button. Click hboot then factory reset. That should do it.

Thanks for the response. After about an hour of trying any and everything to get it working I was able to find a way into the power save settings and disable it from there. Not really sure what happened

I was able to get mine greyed out by going into Developer Options and checking the High Performance Mode option. Maybe yours is checked?

Same thing happened to me I called HTC and we got it into safe mode and when I hit the home button extreme power saving mode pooped up as a homescreen/launcher along with blink feed and nova so I selected nova and no more issues

I'm having the same issue, it's been over an hour stuck like this. I went in through the phone to settings down to the High Performance Mode and nothing. I tried Safe Mode, nothing. I went into the power settings through system settings and the extreme mode was grayed out as well. I can't do anything to get it working.
Any other ideas? HTC had no idea what I was talking about and told me to take it back to Sprint.

This thread saved my life! I hope this gets to HTC and this bug is fixed! It apparently has something to do with the extreme power saving mode replaceing your home screen, and not being able to find and set the defult home screen back be it blink feed, or google now launcher ect.
Get the lastest software update to permanently fix this problem
I also ran into this problem, and was able to fix it permanently by updating the HTC software with the latest Sprint update. I got there by getting into the general setting by back-spacing while in the phone setting (it won't work for other settings). Now when in EPSM window the exit button works as intended (albeit a bit slowly)

I turn the extreme power safe mode on every night when I go to bed, and disable it the next morning. I had been doing it without a problem for 2 months and this morning had this problem as well. And the funny thing is, BlinkFeed is not my home screen. Reboot, nothing. Forced reboot, nothing. Anyways, toggling the extreme power safe mode on and then off did the trick for me as well.

Cant be Exit - Extremen Power Saver mode -
I have HTC Desire 816 rooted Kitkat version. Now my problem is exit extreme power saver mode.
i can enter exit extreme power saver mode. but i cant to exit extremen power saver mode, my another problem is i cant to bootloader, fastboot etc. so i cant to factory reset. now i am stuck with extreme power saver mode,, please help me to exit power saver mode.
The way out of that page is to click call icon, then setting icon, go back and finally put on (again) extreme power saving mode. Then you can easily exit from extreme power saving mode. Thank you! Jide
For those who are having same ussue on htc 10 devices. (cuz i had one just right now)-
Try holding wolume down button right after powering on to get in safe mode. From there you will be able to disable epsm.
*btw whos curse is this, i had this issue when my keyboard started to press ghost input where it a7ctua7lly type5s8 like5 this8 a7nd9 i ha7ve5 to d9e5le5te5 the5 numbers myself lol
this is silly. i simply did the factory rest and let Google restore my apps automatically... now when i long press the power button i get only a "power off" button. it feels weirdly naked.
before i used to have airplane mode, reset, power off and what i really miss, the 3 little Burtons with silent, vibrate and something else.
how do i get that back? what dumb thing did i do to lose them?
thanks!

OK. Your comment made me think I was crazy. So I factory reseted...
The power menu is back.
Also one Wi-Fi I was getting barely 1 bar (discovered often) now shows as full bars. With was going on?
I had zero mods and exploits. Nothing. Only unusual thing I did was update super su. But I didn't even had any app ask for permission yet besides me on the terminal reading system files...

btw, any one has any idea of what happened? I'm now afraid of losing those buttons again. there's no way to put on silent mode without pressing volume down, which retardedly beeps and vibrates all over (exactly what one want when lowering the volume)

No idea but you can use gravity box and change your notification tiles to have ringer mode etc.
