[Q] Please Help Me (Support Needed) - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

Hello, I just wanted to say I just made an account and this site looks awesome but anyways lets get into the problem.
So, I have recently flashed my ATT Galaxy S5 to a stock 4.4.2 ROM because I was having troubles with updating to Lollipop, Now that I have contacted ATT, I am now outside the boundaries of ATT and they said I am "on my own" because I decided to mess with the firmware and such. I also want to inform you that I am pretty techy and I am really good with modding and stuff like that so I am not dumb, I am just new into the "exploiting" "modding" "hacking" smart phones, I had a past history on modding and jailbreaking famous CFW for the PS3.
I need someone to explain to me step by step on how to flash to Lollipop since I can't get it over the air and having att not wanting to support me because I changed and altered the firmware. I want to get the best modified version of Lollipop and the best one you guys recommend. I need help, I am basic as of now and need help on flashing my phone to a good lollipop firmware.
Currently, I am on KitKat 4.4.2 and yes, STILL on 4.4.2, I am really behind on the updates and I need help on getting Lollipop and at this point, I don't care about custom firmware, I just want something bad ass, and since I joined the exploiting and flashing custom ROMS, I am here to start to have fun with the benefits you can do with flashing custom ROMS.
Reply and help me step by step on how to flash to Lollipop, I seen the Twisted Lollipop, that looked cool.
But keep in mind that I am still on kitkat 4.4.2

If you didn't take the ota use this.

You don't want the update man.. You will lock up your bootloader.
Also even if u never plan root... It's still best to stay with KitKat. Lolipoop imposes stricter permissions and you will have less control over the device.
I wish I could go back.. My phones updated and now I'm stuck.
If you truly do want to upgrade... Do it threw a manual process that will allow you to change later if you choose.. The ota update is the last thing you want

Questions about rooting a AUS HTC Dream...

Hi all,
I'm newish on the block when it comes to jailbreaking phones, and I've got a few questions before I jump into the mix and possibly screw my HTC dream up.
1. Does having root access inpose any security holes? In other words, if I jailbreak my phone, will it get hax'd from hackers?
2. My HTC had a RC8 build of android 1.1 before I upgraded it to the optus suppiled OTA update of CupCake (1.5). Is it still possible to downgrade despite this version of android?
3. There's a few custom roms of the Os around and I like the addition features they provide. Do I need to be worried about flashing a us custom rom on a aus (uk?) Handset? Or do custom roms have no actual region setting?
4. What are some good custom versions of android?
Alright, I'll be awaiting a response so I can start jailbreaking my phone. Cheers all!
1. No
2. Yes
3. Dont know about that one, im on US lol
4. CyanogenMod
Good Luck!
Alright, I'm getting ready to take the plunge.
I was looking at CyanogenMod and it looks awesome, is there any simple step-by-step tutorials on how to install it? I've read ways of installing it, but I just want to be sure I install it the correct way and not botch something up.
What version should I use? CyanogenMod v3.6.8 or v3.9.7?

[Q] Flash the 5.1.1 w/o losing root?

Has anyone heard if there is a way to flash the 5.1.1 update yet? We could flash with Odin and flashfire with the OF4, so I was curious about this one. Thanks.
Anyone able to do this yet?
It's not possible because of the new kernel. You're going to have to update if you want the new features.
Actually id say it's not possible because of the small user base and general lack of interest in the g920a as most devs have different variants of this phone and don't give a hoot about uh issues a small subset of users are having. Otherwise I am sure someone with more skill could easily work it out given enough time and incentive

Galaxy S6 Edge 925A 5.1.1 Root/Downgrade/TWRP Questions

I purchased a S6 Edge and it was updated to 5.1.1 when I got it. I am a big fan of rooting/flashing ROMS/mods (My last phone was an extremely modded Oneplus One which met an untimely end) but I am not really sure how to do that on this phone. I would very much appreciate any help with info on how to root/install TWRP. Additionally I know that the S6 on 5.0.2 can be rooted but I also heard that once you update to 5.1.1 can't downgrade but it's worth a shot. I also heard that the [email protected] version has a locked boot loader is there any way to unlock it? If not would flashing say a T-Mobile stock ROM work? Thank you for any help. I also know that Devs don't like being asked for ETAs so instead I will ask if anyone knows how development of Cyenogenmod for the S6 Edge is progressing?
There's no way to unlock the bootloader on the AT&T version of the phone. You won't be able to use a custom recovery such as TWRP.
This is also my first Samsung phone (I've always used HTC devices, which were so easy to unlock/root). Since you're on 5.1.1, I don't think there's any way to achieve root (yet). I may be wrong there, though.
There is no way to root, if you want to do fun stuff with your phone, stay away from at&t

Hi, I'm also in the same boat. I know that this thread is old but I am planning to buy the s6 edge with AT&T (used). The phone is currently running on 5.1.1, (OJ9).
Before buying, is there any possible root YET? Am I possible to downgrade? I am sure these questions have been answered multiple times, but like I said, the threads that I have found via XDA are old. So before purchasing, I'd just like to make sure. Thank you so much!!

No and no , the only hope we have is when we get android 6 and wait for any possible new root method.

Status of root on a new GS6?

Hello,
I'm about to get a new work phone - My employer uses AT&T in the US and asked me which phone I want. I'd like to get a GS6 or GS6 edge+ but wanted to check the status of root, since having it is pretty important to me. I know pingpong root was working for a while but that doesn't seem to be the case any more? From the looks of the forums, it looks like root may not be available on the newer versions.
I'm going to have a look at the AT&T store tomorrow. What do I need to look for to determine if it's currently root-able? Am I looking for a specific revision of the phone itself, or only a certain Android software version?
Thanks.

Right now as it stands it looks like rooting the S6 AT&T variants that took the 5.1.1 updates won't be getting root for a long while. I would pick the LG V10 or a S6 edge+ if you had the choice to pick up an AT&T phone. If you don't care too much about specs AT&T also carries the HTC One A9 which you can unlock bootloader quickly and root. I am using the stock S6 right now and I just disabled a bunch of apps and use greenify and it works fine for the time. I miss having V4A and also titanium backup pro.
I heard chainfire released some CF-Auto root files for 5.1.1, not sure if they work with the AT&T variant, and I heard it is as simple as flashing in Odin, getting a bootloop, wiping cache and rebooting.

Interesting. If this isn't a direct means to get us root, then I don't know what is. Now we just need to find a developer or skilled person that could exploit this for our variant...

Hopefully some one with the skills can have a look at this.

Advice on installing Custom Rom on SM-G900A & SM-G900V

Hi all,
Im new to this website but not new to installing customs ROM's on phones. Its been a while but i did it years ago on my S3. Also, I know there are probably threads out there already for this so if this is just a redundant question please forward me to the right place b/c i haven't been able to find a clear answer on my own.
So here is my situation. I have a SM-G900A that I requested and unlock code from AT&T for and is now "unlocked" and I am running android 6.0.1. My girlfriend has a SM-G900V that is supposedly been unlocked by verizon and i moved over to my AT&T account and its working fine (with the exception of lack of LTE data). To my understanding it is not possible to flash a custom ROM on either of these if they are on anything post android 5.0 release. Is this true? I have not been able to find any custom ROM build that say they are made for these models and TWRP doesnt have a version specific to these either.
Has anyone successfully put customer ROM's/bootloaders on either of these 2 devices? I have really only used Cyanogenmod in the past and was very happy with it. But all i have seen is that people say that these 2 models are SOL if they have android v.6 on them.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
Check the link below, the first 4 posts or so have the information on downgrading and rooting. I don't know about the Verizon version, the AT&T version bootloader is completely locked down so we can not flash a custom recovery like twrp. Flashfire works like a charm though. The custom roms are limited and pretty much lollipop variants. There is currently no root or custom Rom for marshmallow.

flashfire gives the error "Please update SuperSU to v.2.40 or newer" which I already have. I tried the older ones 1st and it gives the same error. I am not sure what to think about it except I got it to work before with the exact same files from what I recall. is there another proceedure perhaps?
