Hi, i have moto x xt1092 and today i tried to install the update but there was an error. Like a dead Android with a red exclamation dot. What can i do to install the update? Thanks
It sounds like you booted into the stock recovery, did you do the button combination to get the menu to pop up?
No, when the update began, the blue bar started to grow but then it appeared on the screen "error" and a dead Android with the red exclamation dot and a triangle. I didn't update via sdcard, i received the message to update the phone... I think i have no recovery installed because when i boot to fastboot and then to recovery there is an error and the dead Android with de red exclamation dot
I dont know rhe button combination... Bue when i try to boot into stock recovery i cant and the phone revolts automatically... Can you push me the recovery file for Android 5.0 and teach me how to install it?

I dont think you have successfully unlock your bootloader. Your attempt was failed. If it says "Bootloader unlock allowed : No" then how can u unlock it? If u think u unlocked it then try relocking your bootloader using flashtools and flash ftf.
Thanks for reply
But i was sure to unlock my bootloader before flashing that custom kernel (Williams v5.1)
After flashing that kernel my phone bricked
I flashed stock kernel
My phone powered on but bootloader unlocking allow changed to no and my phone show "invalid card"

Is your phone carrier locked or not?
Just tell me which method you unlocked your bootloader(flashtools or adb).
This could be RIL isuue(or maybe I'm thinking too much).

Just flash stock using flashmode(volume down) and boot stock ROM. Just check if SIM is working.
It can be that your SIM may have damaged so you check your SIM in some other phone.
I also see that you have no access to fastboot mode.I think the fastmode drivers are missing on your computer.
I can give you detailed steps if you want to know.

How to update manually:
If you do not have Android SDK, follow the following steps:
1- Download OTA and move it to your external memory card.
2- Download minimal adb and fastboot (instead of android sdk)
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347803384
3- Download and install all proper drivers.
https://userscloud.com/yh0mdislay2c
4- go to settings in your phone/about phone / build number : click on it 7 times to enable developers options.
5- in developer options enable adb debugging.
7- open "search" in your computer and search for "cmd", once it apperas drag it to your "minimal adb" directory/folder and start it. (easier)
or you can run command prompt and navigate using commands to "minimal adb" directory. (ask Google if you don't know how)
8- In adb window type: "adb devices"
a message will appear on your phone. Click ok.
Back into adb window type: "adb reboot recovery"
Your phone will restart and you will see android icon with red exclamation mark.
Hold your finger on power button then press volume up, you will see the recovery menu
With volume keys move and select "apply update from SD card" using power button and then choose ota.zip
i flashed it by twr 3.0 recovery but it's need flash twr recovery and super su files and xposed again
Let's see what google can do about OTG missing feature

You may try to force stop system update (google services framework) or freeze it, but it doesn't seem to be a good idea.

So i got a custom recovery (TeamWin project). I disabled OEM Unlock on purpose, because i thought it wouldn't show the red line up in the bootscreen.
After trying to reboot, it wouldn't reboot, and i can't go into Recovery mode. I can't install any custom firmware too, because i've got the OEM Unlock set to "off"
Can someone please help, i can't find a topic similiar to my case, where i've bricked my phone and have no idea what to do.

Tried several times to do the update through the settings menu.
Everytime it reboots the screen stays black.
I can turn it on, it vibrates for half a second. I see the Android one screen and the screen turns black. So i tried holding the volume up button and power button but no Dev menu.
So I thought it was bricked but after a few tries it rebooted and says it can't install the update.
I've attached the screenshot of the issue. I've tried it 3 times. It redownloaded the update and failed again.
Any ideas?
FIXED

Unfortunately the error is not informative. I had this error when installing November update. The only way I found to see what went wrong is to check logcat during upgrade, but I think it requires root. In the end I flashed the OTA using fastboot. Still didn't get this update. Try opening shell from adb and reading logcat. I don't think anyone can help you unless we know what is 5he reason for failure

The november update has a bug in it that it only boots in english with a simcard inserted , other languages make the screen bug out ( at least that's what I had ) and only boot without a simcard
Worked greatly
Hey folks, just reinforcing the answer: removing the sim card before restart did the trick, the update went smooth.

Ok, my phone is not rooted.
I was having the same issue. In the past I've unlocked in order to enable camera2api.
December/2018 (V10.0.2.0.PDIMIFJ) to January/2019 (V10.0.3.0) was failing via OTA.
This is how I solved it:
Download V10.0.2.0.PDIMIFJ dump from this thread
Reboot phone to Fastboot mode (vol down+power)
Run flash_all_except_data.sh or if you're in windowsflash_all_except_data.bat
In my case my environment is:
Linux Fedora 29
fastboot version c7815d675 from android-tools package (just make sure you have the latest fastboot)
Using original USB-C cable
After flashing and reboot the OTA update installed normally without any issues

You need to read this thread to install TWRP. You do it with Odin and not fastboot. Odin is what Samsung uses INSTEAD of fastboot.
I cannot install TWRP,..
1.I Shut down
2.Press power and Vol up button
3.Gets in Recovery
4. I scroll to Reboot to bootloader
5. Goes into download mode. Freezes
6.Press power and Vol down buttons
7.Goes back to home screen
8. Rinse and repeat

Do you have Odin running? Do you get the "added message" in Odin? That is the only way to tell if it is connected. You say it "freezes" but that is normal. So long as you get the added notice in Odin, you are ready to flash. If you don't get the "added" message, then you have to enter the download mode manually and NOT from the recovery menu. Also, have you unlocked the bootloader? That has to be the very first step. Nothing will work till you do that.

I've been at this for three days and can't find a solution. I can get in to recovery but when I hit reboot to bootloader it gets stuck in download mode. I can get back out.And the cycle repeats.... Have also done a reset. Any solutions for this besides sending it in for service? Thanks

I think I know what your problem is. You've had other tablets and have always used fastboot for rooting, unlocking and flashing. FORGET EVERYTHING YOU KNOW. Samsung doesn't work like other tablets. The ONLY time you use fastboot with this device is AFTER you have unlocked it, installed TWRP, rooted and want to install a GSI ROM. You DO NOT use fastboot to unlock the bootloader, root the tablet or flash TWRP, stock ROMs or custom ROMs. You can find instruction for unlocking the bootloader here. It is for the A7 but the A8 unlocks the same way. Then use the other link I posted for installing TWRP.
ONG he was using fastboot.

My understanding is different. The problem is that the download mode can't be started because there is a hangup. So how can you use Odin, which requires a working phone in download mode?
