How to get CSC from stock ROM base (update) - Galaxy Note 4 General

Many users wanted to flash their own CSC on custom ROM. Here is small guide how to get original CSC from base and add to custom ROM.
1.Download your desired ROM from SamMobile (OR use if you have any base already with you from same region)
2.Extract zip to get tar.md5 - again extract it to get cache.img.
3.Get Img Extractor from here Extract exe file on a new folder. copy extracted Cache.img in this folder as well.
4.Drag and drop cache.img you have extracted from base on ImgExtractor.exe
5.You will see newly created folder cache.img_ along with exe
6.Open cache.img_ - recovery - sec_csc folder, you will see system folder. - Drag and drop that system folder on you desktop.
7.Now download csc_changer_new.zip template from here and drag and drop system folder on root of zip. (so after this when you open zip you should see three folders data, META-INF and system)
8.Flash that zip immediately after flashing ROM.
Update : Updated script so it will auto backup all ROM CSC features and auto restore after changing CSC

Repo
Here is sample ready made pack. (you can submit if you make for your region)

Using 7zip on Windows I get a cache.img.ext4 file which does not create the expected files when dropped onto ImgExtractor.exe.
May I get a clue?

Thank you for your reply...
I put both files on my desktop and then dropped the file onto the .exe.
It seemed to do something but still no folder.

Log saying folder created. Look again folder somewhere on desktop. Better you make new folder and put exe inside it then drop cache.img so it's can easily located inside that new folder

Okey dokey, I think I'll settle this once and for all.
@catseyenu was using the wrong download link. As you can see from going to the download page there are 2 download buttons, the first which says "Download" is a fake download link and will redirect you to another site and try to get you to download some sort of software in .exe form.
The correct link is the one that says "Download Now" which I have verified this and was able to download it without any problems.
With Dev-Host it is a case of knowing which download link to press. On a side note, our (XDA's) partnership with Dev-Host has ended due to them not wanting to control the ads that they have and often redirecting users to other sites and trying to get them to download possibly malicious software. Due to this I would encourage the OP to use other file hosts such as AndroidFileHost for example.

Thank you Jonny for clarifying the status of the malicious host.

Actually for small Download I also prefer mega which is now a days offers highest Download speed and most users prefer it. Initially I have posted link was mega. But I need to update it and particularly this file targeted for Indian users, and many provider in India have blocked mega so this time I made dev host upload.
For rom I prefer dev /pCloud and Media fire bcoz all three gives Web upload (remote uoload) option so I can provide three mirrors by uploading at one place.
Again thank you very much for being with us always.

Sir, this method can be used for completely stock rom?

German CSC for N910F
Hey Guys,
if anybody is looking for the german csc you can download it from here: http://workupload.com/file/Km2FjCof
I made it according to dr. ketans explanation. Just one thing when I go into phone info / CSC-Code it states:
Original CSC.-Code: INU
Firmware CSC-Code: DBT
Active CSC Code: INU/ DBT
Available CSC.-Codes: BTU, CPW, DBT, ITV, KOR, XEF, XEO
CSC Country: Germany/DE
Do I need to use the csc changer apk and therefore wipe everything? Or am I good even though active CSC is Indian and German??
I am on Nameless Rom 4.2 and the reason for me doing this was because of the message I receive on every boot up stating: Texting just got better.... Where you need to give your mobile number (you can also just click 2 times on no but thats not an option for me) But even after I flashed my CSC zip it still shows up.
@dr. Ketan do you have a solution or did i do something wrong? I did it step by step. Hope to receive an answer.

Probably that is issue of rom and not csc.
Indian csc causing send a text message to Indian number that should be fixed (on latest nameless I think prefixed) by changing csc
Sent from my SM-N920I using xda premium

I solved with the csc changer app, i switched to dbt and had to wipe everything. Restored my apps and date with titanium backup, now i am running with german csc on nameless rom 4.2
And the texting got better pop up disappeared

CSC Note 5
I tried this on my new note 5. I flashed a TMOBILE rom and that totally screws with csc and features. This does work in the sense that it brings back my multi csc for my Canadian note. However where I get the problems is similar to the gentleman above. It only partially applies the csc that I need. When I flash the zip. It attributes a generic out of the US csc XAC. When i try something like Phone info Samsung to change it to RWC. It only changes where its says active csc and it still shows XAC as also active. ANd firmware csc and original csc still show as XAC. Why when i flash the stock rom does it default to RWC eventhough the csc files are the same, but with a custom rom XAC?

[Q] Flashing a different CSC package

Does anyone know where I can grab a stand alone Odin/CWM flashable CSC package, I need to have the right CSC actiavated on my phone so that I wont have market errors. The CSC is GLB which can be found from a DXKK1 firmware (OLBKJ6) or is there a way to extract the CSC package from a single .tar firmware odin flashable?

In case you flashed a non multi-csc ROM and now are missing your CSC you can do this:
1. Get hold of an old ROM update package. Open it up and browse to /system/csc
2. Copy your regional CSC folder(in your case GLB) from that archive to your phone SD card.
3. Dive into a root explorer on the phone (make sure 'system' is mounted as writable) and copy the folder you have in Step-2 to your phone's /system/csc
4. Dial *#272*{your imei number goes here}# and install your CSC.
Hope that helped.
Cheers.

Download 20A.bin extract it,and put somewhere in your computer.
and below there is a CWM flashable superuser.zip.
Download it and put to your Sd kart.Do not extract.
Then simply flash that patched 20A bin file with smart flash procedure posted here from radkor

After finished flashing with smartflash tool go to cwm recovery and install superuser.zip
and you get rooted original 20A ginger.

but we do not have 20N bin file yet.
we have only indian version 20B bin file, redpik posted it above

Ok. Let me try to understand this. They replace "system recovery.img" which is reside in the original rom bin file with "cwm recovery.img" (where to get this file?) and then flash it using smartflash tool. So after reset by smartflah, cwm is already in the phone installed. Then all is easy, proceed to install superuser.zip, etc..etc.zip.
How is it possible to obtain root by inserting cwm in the rom while cwm itself require root to run? Also, what's the "system recovery.img" that got replaced. Is it important?
Please investigate more. Need more info on how "patching" is done too. I don't understand russian.

I guess you need to investigate more how android works. Flashing recovery image with the whole system in a bin file makes cmw part of the "original" firmware so,like recovery that only can erase all this one can read/write in the system files. Sounds normal. I read on Samsung forums that they get root for latest versions by flashing a patched odin file and then a su zip. I will try it

Then we can say that this is universal method as long as cwm can be patch into the rom. Finding exploit is not necessary anymore. So, what's the function of the file replaced in the rom. Is it the original lg recovery method which is not available anymore if this we use this method?
Thanks for the explanation, I wonder why it hasn't be use before, maybe because lack of rom file in bin format?

to get the files out of a kdz: grab them while someone is using the KDZ program to update their phone. The files are extracted and put into "C:\ProgramData\LGMOBILEAX\Phone" but as soon as the program detects no phone the entire directory is blown away. Too fast to grab the files. So either you update for real (in which case you have the time to grab the files) or you create a symbolic link between the C:\ProgramData\LGMOBILEAX\Phone folder and another folder you create say name it C:\test. What happens is that files get extracted and then \phone folder deleted when no phone is detected but the files remain on the \test folder. So you get your files which are a "model.dll" file (in p970 case i guess something like lgp970.dll) and a .wdb file which is the firmware. How to proceed though to tinker further with the .wdb file so as to get bin file and baseband still elludes me

Can't install OTA using Mobile Odin, Odin and CWM

I downloaded a zip file from sammobile.com's OTA files section. The ZIP contains the following files:
debug_info ==> 1kb (size)
delta.hidden ==> 856kb
delta.modem ==> 1kb
delta.platform ==> 84455 kb
delta.Sbl ==> 1280kb
delta.ua ==> 241 kb
delta.zImage ==> 4936kb
the ZIP file won't install using Mobile Odin, Odin, and CWM. In mobile Odin, it says that the file is not an OTA / Update ZIP file, and merely extracted the contents.
the filename of the downloaded file is GT-N7000_SMA_93970111.zip.
any idea how i can install the OTA file?
I have tried searching this forum and google, but to no avail. it appears that nobody knows how to use the ZIP file.
Any leads would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help.
What was your purpose in downloading this OTA file anyway? A firmware zip file either contains a single file with "tar.md5" as the extension or 3 files for CSC, Modem/phone and PDA file all of which are recognized automatically by mobile odin or can be loaded on PC odin. I don't think sammobile has files for CWM. No idea about the several files that are contained on the one you downloaded. From the size of the files alone we can conclude that this is NOT firmware as normal size is 600-900 MB.
What I understand from the word OTA is Over The Air and as such can only be used either within the device itself to update or thru kies.
Good luck!
I think it is a very specific scenario to use ota.
The ota file probably need you to have previous released versions of csc installed.
Dont know much about mobile odin.
I think ota is a new feature in mobile odin. Best to check cf mobile odin thread.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
when Mobile Odin extracts the zip file you'll get a.md5 file. After the extraction just select this md5 file in Mobile Odin and you're good to go
According to the OP there is no md5 file contained on the zip file.
As per sammobile:

This section is specially for the die-hard Samsung owner.

If you dont know what to do with these files, you probably shouldn't touch them.
Let those who knows do it insead.
Not all OTA updates are officially released to public! Samsung may use OTA firmwares as tests first.

AFAIK OTA updates are firmware specific.You must be on certain firmwares to flash the OTA.For exampleTA update yyy may need you to be on xxx firmware for it to work.But sadly I dont know how to flash it....
Could it be that you have to be totally stock unrooted to be able to flash it via stock recovery (3e)? If that's the case the OTA .zip must be stored in external sd. I don't think need to rename it to update.zip, because we can still flash any .zip with the right signature on 3e. Thinking of trying on my Note but it has been 'out of flashed' for close to a month!

[Q] Cannot open Kies/Samsung firmware file

Hello forum-comers,
I want to update my cell's firmware using Kies, but neither this nor FOTA are possible. I've trying using Kies to download a firmware file (to %username%\appdata\local\temp\Binary\GT-I9000 folder), and got a "download complete" notice. The file is supposed to be a *.tar archive containing other *.tar archives that are flashable with Odin, but it has no extension (just a name) and I can't open it. I've tried adding a *.tar or a *.zip extension but it didn't seem to help.
Does anyone know how to open or use that file?
Problem solved
Okay, it turns out that the file is encrypted somehow, and there's a program that can open it (as well as check and download firmware without the Kies suite) - it's called Check Fus, and you can read about it on this thread from a couple of years ago, or head to the dev's website. The decrypted file is a zip containing both a firmware *.tar file that can be flashed using Odin, as well as a *.dll the purpose of which I don't know.
