Samsung recently launched the S6 Active which almost comes with the same specifications with the standard S6. But it goes the more bigger battery capacity of 13.48Wh(3500mAh). But S6 9.81Wh / S6 Edge 10.01Wh.
Weird to ask that on a Verizon forum... Verizon isn't releasing the active - AT&T is.
But to answer your question - no.
I probably would.
i have never been mesmerized by a screen as i upgrade often and find them to all be great as i upgrade and losing the Edge screen would be tough now BUT that would tempt me
I don't really care for the physical buttons on the Active.
Bigger battery and waterproofing would be nice though.
If it would have had SD card it would have been VERY tempting.

I just can't wait until it is finally announced, these rumours are like a rollercoaster. Apparently the S6 Edge Plus has the 3000mAh battery, which makes me wonder if the Note 5 will use the same when it has a larger display. Unpacked cannot come soon enough.
So, samsung discriminates its worldwide customers over those living in Asia...

Hello Everyone,
Its time to change my phone finally. After eagerly waiting for the Note 5 for a while now, I was looking at the specs of the phone but, is it just me or does the S6 Edge+ specs although almost identical to the Note 5, is better? Or am I missing something here?
At almost $770 it quite a hefty investment!
They are literally identical besides the S-pen for the note5, and the curved edges on the S6 edge+. Everything else is the same. The S6 edge+ is more expensive for the same storage though, so I personally went with the Note5, as I also believe the S-pen offers more functionality than a curved screen.
From GSMArena:
Note5:
- S Pen stylus
5 MP Secondary Camera.
S6 Edge+:
- Samsung Pay (Visa, MasterCard certified)
5 MP, [email protected], dual video call, Auto HDR
These are the only different features i could see.
And you said you bought it. How?? Isn't the launch on August 21?

The Note5 has samsung pay as well, the literal only differences are the screens and the S-pen.
And yes, I bought mine last thursday when it was announced from AT&T, it arrived monday afternoon and I have been using it all day today. It's a really nice phone.
Ah... AT&T! I am planning to buy it. Lets see when its available on Expansys! Currently on pre-order there.
it's the same resolution screen on both phones the curved edge technically makes you lose some of that however. the edge gives you a couple features that aren't on the note but the note has the pen which has way more functionality than any edge screen in my opinion. i've been using my phone since yesterday and it's definitely a great device!
Yup. The S pen is really beneficial. I am gonna order it as soon as its available. Thanks!
They're slightly different screens for example the edge+ is brighter while the note has a better delta
My Note edge broke down and got money from insurance.
Now, I'm wondering whether to buy note edge again or to buy note 5.
Any owner note 5 used note edge before ?
Is it worth to change Note Edge for Note 5?
To me Note 5 is a regression in terms of features that power users value. It has got a much better screen (have done a side by side comparison), more powerful CPU and an extra gig of ram and touch type finger print sensor but in turn it looses wired MHL TV out, MicroSD card, removable battery among others. I do not know how much you value these features but if I could go back in time I would leave Note 5 altogether and buy something else.

I upgraded from the Note Edge to the Note 5 and do not regret the decision. I did go with the 64 gb model to ensure I have enough space. Battery life has been MUCH better on the Note 5 and I am in love with the upgraded camera. I was sold with how quickly I can access the camera. I also like the size and feel of the Note 5 much better. The Note Edge was always a bit awkward for me with the curved edge on the one side. I never really got much added benefit from the edge screen, so I have not missed it. I never used the IR port and never changed batteries on the Note Edge. At the end of the day, it became a no-brainer for me and I am so happy with the Note 5. I think it really comes down to how important are the SD slot, removeable battery, IR port, and edge screen. I am even more happy with the Note 5 than I expected to be. Not sure if that helps.

Heck yeah.

I don't really think it is, truthfully. If you have the money to buy a new device why not go for the newer device, sure but to actually upgrade from a normal working edge it doesn't offer enough. It's the same screen as the Note 4/edge, albeit a little brighter, both are 515 ppi i believe. The camera is the same the only difference is the aperature size lets in a little more light for better exposure, however this is not always noticeable as you can see for yourself in reviews by credible reviewers such as android authority and many others on youtube. If you prefer expandable memory, removable battery and the curved screen aspect definitely stay with the note edge, if you MUST have the faster cpu and extra ram for VERY HEAVY multitasking and absolutely MUST HAVE the newest handset then get the Note 5.
Hi gang i`m due for a new phone in April and as much as the gorgeous S7 Edge looks appealing the rumours that starts lingering about the Note 6 sounds very promising but that phone is at least 4 months away, what's your thinking?

What's the point of this thread? We barely have any rumors on N6, nor any real info. It's too soon to compare the two - because you can't.

I think, you should wait for note 6, there are two reasons for that:
1) u'll get spen and more improvements over s series.
2) in countries like india, there will be a price cut after few months, u'll be able to get better deals if u wanted to go for a s7 edge.
I gotta admit that this is pretty pointless thread, but we all love tech and stuff so, here is my opinion:
I'd wait for the note 6. While the s7 edge is certainly appealing, it will suffer a strong price drop as all samsung phones do in the first months. Hence, waiting for the note 6 will not only give you clarity about whether or not you like the note 6, but it also will make the decision to go with the s7 edge less expensive. Looking at the differences between the s6 and s7, I'd argue that samsung will do pretty much the same thing with the note 6: Same processor and camera like the s7, bigger battery, refined design, more software features, slightly larger display, micro-sd slot. I highly doubt that they will increase the amount of RAM to like 6GB though. It will stay at 4GB I guess.
To sum it up: if you need/want the S-Pen, wait for the note. If you don't, go for something else.
I'd definitely wait for the Note 6.. 5.7" vs 5.5" for the S7 edge.. and if it sees the same battery capacity bump it's likely to have ~4000mAh with the S Pen bonus and other optimizations to the OS
I purchased the regular S7 as I wamted something a bit smaller, but haven't been entirely satisfied as I do miss the s-pen and larger screen (the screen on the S7 edge is really irritating). So I'm going to get the Note 6 once it launches.
I agree about jumping the gun but it's only because i`m due for a new phone in 2 weeks time, l love my Note 4 which is why I was wondering if l should stick with the Note family .

Keep it until the Note 6 is launched.
i gave my wife my s7 edge and im waiting for the note 6.. im back on my note 4 atm and happy i gave the s7 edge away
I am following news about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 6. There are rumors about the next Galaxy Note will come with great new features, except a downgraded display with only 1024 pressure points.
(Source: "http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_note_6_rumored_to_come_with_whoppin g_6gb_ram_58inch_display-news-16649.php")
Quote:"In addition, the rumor also notes that the handset's screen will be pressure-sensitive with 1,024 pressure points. This, however, doesn't seem correct as it's a downgrade from the Note5, which already has 2,048 pressure points."
My question is, how relevant are pressure points, and how may it affect the general use? (Couldn't find anything specific on the web).
Also, is this possible? Can Samsung decide to "Downgrade" their display on the Note 6 compared to previous phones?

i prefer having a non edge phone ... i realized im not going to use the edge features and didnt like how i had to use it differently (holding etc) also i didnt like the tall and thin screen style .. prefer the notes wider stance
I just got the s7 and happy I did! Its an amazing phone and blazing fast. The camera is top notch! I also use my note 4 as a secondary phone and while using both, there is a huge step above with the s7. The note 5 was never released in Europe and if they do bring the note 6 here, I will give my wife the s7 LOL
note 6 for me. upgrade in september, so perfect timing. don't like the s7.
Wait for the Note 6, the Note phones tend to set the standard for at least the following 1.5years.
The Note 6 is said to bring:
5.8inch display
6GB RAM
IP68 protection
And of course the SPen and its software that still to this day set the Note range apart from everything else on the market.
Gladly waiting for the Note 6 as nothing so far has matched the Note 4.

The Edge devices also tend to feel very fragile.
I agree, the Note tends to have a far more solid build and stance. Its like comparing a Range Rover Evoque (Edge) to the big body Range Rover Vogue Autobiography (Note).

I have been using Note4 for one year bought a s6 edge+ 64gb .broke it when it dropped from just 0.5m hieght on a carpeted floor
The screen was shattered completely although the phone had a spigen rugged cover on. The repair was very expensive nearly 1/3 price of the phone.
Sold it the day i recieved it back after repair. And will stick to my Note4 , its the best phone for me using it with a 128GB Sandisk sdcard
Advice: Dont buy a Note Edge phone if you have fumbling hands.
if an upgrade is necessary and you can bare the smaller screen on S7 i.e 5.1 inch go ahead.
otherwise wait for Note 6.
I am thinking of shifting to some other brand e.g Xperia X performance may be amazing.. As i am fedup of fragile glass build phones . and xperia x perfomance is not made of glass by sony this time.
i think note 6 is not right choice it will be the first device supporting Type-C that meaning you will faces a lot of troubles with it
my current plan upgrading to S7E then waiting for Note 7 or S8E
one more thing .... Samsung will forced to make a big step forward in S8E and N7 because Chinese manufactures has got a big piece of market cake .
if you just waiting for N6 you will not get any real development compared with S7E
Hi all I've been a note user since the note 1 lol but cause the note was cancelled this year ive gone for the s21 ultra an I ask
Does the spen pro bring all the features of the regular note series and is they any cases that are able to store the spen or am I better of getting the regular spen and the case of samsung website
Thanks
Also what are your thoughts on the whole note series I personally think samsung are working the note series out and pushing the fold devices in its place
Samsung says they'll be a Note released next year.
I have the Ultra along with the Samsung case that stores the proper S-Pen for the S21 Ultra. It works OK. It doesn't have bluetooth so you can't use it as a remote like you could on the Note. But, it draws on the screen and does all that same stuff as a Note. It just has to be really close to the screen before it does anything. That seems to be good enough for me but still I kind of hope that they don't cancel the Note series outright.

Yeah I thought the remote didn't work. That's actually for me it's most useful feature, a remote shutter release.
That and smart select.
I think it's kinda disappointing and stupid that they made the S-Pen Pro so large. You will have to carry around separately. I doubt I would do so and I doubt many others would as well.
The spen variants are getting complicated...

I guess the pro variant supports bt shutter release? It does some cool tricks across devices like cut/paste.
The one cool trick it can't do without a dedicated slot is safely nest. Losing and breaking these little wisps is all too easy even with a dedicated slot. So far I've avoided destroying my 10+'s spen but only narrowly.
With no physical tethering you need to keep it on a very short leash...
