Hi,
It's my first post on this forum so excuse me if I didn't post into the best section..
I work on a VAB-820 development board powered by Freescale. I installed Android 4.4.2 on it and I need to root the system to run some applications who needs su rights.
I tried to follow steps to steps to include su in my build image but nothing was very concluent.
All apps like framaroot, towelroot & co don't work for my board.
I would like to know if anyone could help me giving root access to my system, using a special tool after installing stock android or by compiling it from sources.
Thanks in advance for any kind of help of tips you could give to me and sorry my bad english...
Solution !
Hi,
I finally found a solution to my problem.
I made a little script to include root binaries after installing a stock Android build.
You can run this script via the console from serial port.
You can download it from the link below.
Enjoy !

2 weeks ago I upgraded my phone to a HTC One (M7, on sprint) and I decided I wanted to try and root it. So I followed the htconeroot (dot) com root guide for M7 exactly and everything worked fine up until when it asked to have me boot up SuperSU. It gave me the error "There is no SU binary installed and SuperSU cannot install it". I've looked around for a fix and a lot of searches have led me to this forum, and a lot of the posts did have fixes. But 1. I'm too ignorant and new to all this to fully understand the fixes given, and 2. I want to make sure that the fix I use is for my device.
Anyways, I'm on android 4.4.2 and I believe that may be the issue, but I'm not sure what to do. So if someone can help me out and give me an easy to understand beginners step to step guide on how to fix my issue I would be very grateful. Thanks!!
Edit: Fixed. The guide I used had a written, and video guide for rooting. I followed the video version, but went though the written guide while troubleshooting. It turns out the video guide tells you to put in a certain file that is not needed for users using Android 4.4.2, and that you need to use another file. I switched files and it now works. I'm good now.
edit :fixed
Hello I have the same problem. I have a HTC one sprint and I tried rooting it and I installed root checker and it said no root access and supersu said no binary and stuff and your seems as it is fixed please reply I need you help on how you got it to work and the links to everything . Thanks

You CANNOT use SuperSU as of yet. Use this app

False. I have been using SuperSU to gain root access for apps that require it. It just fails to update the SU binary (which isn't essential, since it is only a newer version of it).

This doesn't get any further, since it requires a custom recovery to install the new binaries. Stick with SuperSU... after a couple reboots it should successfully be granting root access to applications, but will just continue to peskier about updating the binary (which is NOT necessary at the moment).

Updates after root
Hi.
I have been using this root method for a while on Australian 510 and its working superbly, many thanks! Of late though, I am frequently being bugged by a recurring notification that there is an update for the phone available, to version 1.50.841.2. I have tried installing the update several times but it always fails. Does anyone know a work around? As an aside, after unlocking the bootloader I got a message that there was an updated HTC Service Pack available but my phone was detected as being modified so the install was not available and I wouldn't get any further notification of updates. What are these service packs? Do they effect system functionality or are they only updates to HTC apps? Is it possible to still install these somehow?
Cheers.

error: cannot load 'HTC-Desire-510-64bit-Root.img'
if i fastboot devices the phone is showing so drivers are ok ?
It seems that I have root for...most...intents and purposes, but not when it come to things like xposed or next app so fix. Now I'm running 1.4.4.B.0.37 On Xperia Z1s. Rooted using flash tool, note... Does seem to freeze at the reboot part when it tries to install busybox so I manually install from marke. I had root for awhile then saw on xda that you could "proper" root by updating threw ota. Tried and failed multiple times. I have a screenshot of the error from xposed. Any help greatly appreciated.

Figured Out
Well, i never gave up and figured out the problem. Even though i had the newest version through OTA, it did me no good to revert back to last version since thats the version you have to "proper" root. Sooo, i downgraded...again...to stock (C6916_14.2.C.0.159_TMobile.ftf) then rooted and it worked. doing installs and checking as i type but so far viper4android and xposed are g2g. now to upgrade to next version (C6916_14.4.B.0.37_T-Mobile.ftf) for "proper" root. thanks and glad if i could help others with same problem. I think i will post a guide for z1s so others (seems to be alot of us) can have noob friendly guide. :highfive:
starting my guide...
I am starting my guide and wanted to know if there should be a specific area i should post it? Is the correct place here in the Q&A area? or in the Development area?
Hey so do you think the blu advance 5.0 hd will be compatible with the work being done on the R1 hd? I would really like to jump on this hype train with my similar but slightly less powerful phone.
I am hoping that I will be able to install a custom rom like R1 users. I also want to root my phone to disable google services in the meantime.

That phone is based on the 6580 SoC, the R1 uses a 6735. There is a site that lists some roms for blu products that may help, I don't know how reliable they are, I have never used them, but if you want to check it out...

Did you use the desktop versions? Those have higher success rates. I tried rooting an HTC that way and it worked flawlessly even when the apk didn't.

You're going to have to do it manually.
no go on kingo
I'm in the same boat. I've got 20 of these BLU Advance 5.0 HD devices and I need to root them to gain access to the VirtualSensor app to emulate a gyroscope. I've tried Kingo and Mobogenie (barf-boo-hisssss). I'm wondering if kingo isn't working on these since they have Marshmallow. I read somewhere they originally shipped with Lollipop.
Did you get anywhere Devanttrio??

I was able to root mine successfully the long way.... had to obtain a dump of the boot.img / recovery.img using software that I'm not sure of the policy of discussion on here at XDA - compile TWRP - unlock bootloader - fastboot boot the compiled recovery - flash SuperSU to get patched boot.img (kitchen was being dumb and systemless root didn't want to work) - Flash SuperSU in system mode - Convert SuperSU.apk to system app so it doesn't get removed every reboot. I can post my compiled TWRP when I'm back at my office or grab it from my repository that I'm trying to establish - https://bluroms.info . Sorry for the design mess / lack of much there at moment haven't had much free time lately in process of cleaning up the device kernel sources to build from source... its sort of ... messy in there...... can post on github if anyone wants in

I've been trying to root a Blu Advance 5.0 HD for a while now and stumbled on this post. I visited your site but am not sure what a 'Scatter File' is, or in what order I need to do things in order to get root.
If you could provide a little more detailed info that would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!

EDIT: Sorry, to clarify I tried all of the other PC and APK rooting solutions but was able to unlock the bootloader using ADB. I guess I'm just looking for the proper way to root and add TWRP. Thanks!

I found a option in developer settings that is "Enable OEM unlocking" and it makes it so you can unlock the bootloader from fastboot, if you do adb reboot-bootloader and then fastboot unlock it should undo the bootloader for you

Like the others said, I would really appreciate if you could give an explanation or tutorial on how to use these files that you uploaded to root the phone. I'm willing to donate some money if required. I only know basic technical stuff haha.

I too am trying to root this device, and am unclear on a few of the steps here. I actually found your site with the recovery and boot images independently, really appreciated! I am at the point where I just need to patch the boot image, though I am not sure how to do this. If you could help me out with this step I might be able to put together some sort of list of steps to get through the whole process if you don't have the time.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
I thought I'd give the Galaxy tab active 2 / T395 a try out as I'm a big fan of the 'S pen' feature.
I have tried all the stand alone apks out there that claim they can root any android device; 'KingRoot, KingoRoot, OneClickRoot, z4mod.z4root, Rootmaster and Framaroot'. I'm sad to report, all of which do absolutely nothing, which is very dissapointing.
The only thing these ROOT apks do, is secretly install random unwanted programs and adverts to install other crap.
The device has been on the market for 7 months now, so can anyone provide any information updates as to when an official ROOT method for the Galaxy Tab Active 2 / T395 may be available by using Odin on the PC with the relevant 'CF-Auto-Root / TWRP' files?
Thanks for reading :good:
After much research and reading. There is a way of rooting the T395. Covered in this section by another member.
Having, myself followed the instructions, I can say my T395 active 2 , is fully rooted using the Magisk Manager method and patching the boot.img taken from the main downloaded firmware from sammobile website.
I guess things have moved on from using CF auto root and TWRP files for earlier android operating systems.
Hope this helps someone else out.
Step by step guide please
