Hi, guys.
I've been of for almost a year. I moved to WP, well after getting the disappointment with the applications I decided to move back to android.
Right now, I can't decide whether I should buy the Mi 3 or the new Redmi 2 Pro.
http://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_redmi_2-6884.php (the 2gb version)
http://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_mi_3-5678.php (the phone I bet you already know )
My concern here is that the redmi 2 has the newer 64bit processor, and the mi 3 works on the Snapdragon 800.
I can't decide by myself, so any opinions will be welcomed
See you around.

Almost NO APPs are making use of 64-bit yet and that's not expected to change in anytime soon. I'd say Mi3 over Redmi2 (but get the 64GB one maybe, as no SD card slot as mentioned by @patelumangv
What answer do you want, placed vote in a branch mi3? xD

Redmi 2 is no match for Mi3. Mi3 wins it hands down... except for the microSD card department (which many of our beloved members already mentioned in the thread) but there also if you can get hold of a Mi3 64GB version then just forget about Redmi 2 for good

Hi there,
The Xiaomi Mi Note Pro has been out for a year now. Has anyone any info on an upgraded or new version?
I'm looking for a 5.7 device and really like this, but (knowing my luck), I'll order and the next week Xiaomi will release info on a new model !
Thanks
do you want my opinion wait and see for one plus 3
I think asus zenfone 3 deluxe must be the mobile what you want, im waiting for it and some revew of zf 3 deluxe, sd820, 5.7" FHD 6RAM... sound so great
I would personally go with nexus 6p over the current mi note pro. As a previous amoled user, I find it the screen to be pretty dim on my MNP.
Unless you are happy with running miui, I would stay clear from this. Another thing, I should add, phone definitely heats up when running asop and early miui roms. I do not care what other user say but having the phone on charge and trying to talk to someone whilst putting the phone next to your years gets extremely hot and uncomfortable.
I would wait for one plus or even the nexus 6
PS: I'm running mokee rom.

There is a rumor that Mi Note 2 will be released mid-July, together with the Xiaomi laptop. The latest news on it: http://mobile.it168.com/a2016/0530/2672/000002672797.shtml
The specs are supposedly: SD823 (MSM8996 Pro), 4/6 GB RAM, 32-256 GB ROM, Sony IMX378 sensor, 12 Mpx camera with laser autofocus, screen resolution and size same as the predecessor, iris recognition. Pricing is supposed to start at 3299 CNY for the cheapest version.
Mi Note Pro still a very good phone except perhaps for camera

I also have both, Mi Note Pro and Nexus 6p. Nexus 6p is a little bit faster (probably because of stock android) and has a better camera, but overall i still prefer the Mi Note pro. The 6p is thicker, heavier and bulkier and the sound quality on it (which is very important to me) is complete ****, while on the Note pro the sound is absolutely brilliant (over headphones of course, speakers are better on 6p). Screen is a little brighter on the 6p, but they`re both too dark in sunny weather for me. I also love MIUI, did even install a MIUI launcher on my 6p . I think it comes down to preferences. Both are great devices, but there`s one major downside to the Note Pro, which is the battery life.

An event is planned this month... there are rumors of a new flagship.
mipro is a good phone except the software sucks (both miui and unoficial roms). for exemple semi-official (i believe he is a miui developper) ivan aosp rom 6.0.1 is using april security patchs lol and no updates... and others roms are worst and bugged. yea i would take the 6p only because of the software part, i have bought 3 phones from xiaomi and it's the LAST TIME.
Android Pure put out a screenshot of ‘About Phone’ of the alleged Mi Note 2 Pro which is said to run Android Nougat out of the box. Leaks claim Mi Note 2 Pro will be the first Xiaomi smartphone to come with Android Nougat.
The screenshot reveals Mi Note 2 Pro will be powered by a quad-core (Snapdragon 821 rumoured) processor clocked at 2.6GHz. It is said to come with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Pro will run MIUI 8 with Android Nougat.
Who will be getting one?
I definitely will.

The screen is supposed to have curved edges, so that will be AMOLED since you can't bend IPS
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Then I would buy something else. Colors of modern art are more lovely on Amoled but I feel natural photos much more real on IPS
---------- Post added at 08:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:12 PM ----------
Plus I prefer small borders like on Nubia phones than curved edges
I prefer AMOLED over IPS as it has better battery life.
That's a good reason, also it provides battery friendly "always on notifications" which is quite nice.
Only thing I can see there's much less sub pixels, and maybe that's why I find amoled less true to life than IPS.
That would be great to have the choice between them but that would never happen, there's already so much different models.
After first mi note pro fail (flagship killer 2015 that had 0 android updates, rly?) I won't buy xiaomi. ever. For me Google pixels looks great + they will have newest soft and tons, just tons of developers working with them.
Miui 8 offers everything Google updates can offer (app permissions, data usage, etc...): which specific feature do you want?
My gut feel, it won't be Android 7 !
Any ATT users of the older Note, I have to admit the specs of the new model have me looking at what little info there is about it here in the US.
So did you guys buy Mi Note 2.
I personally bought OnePlus 3 and been on ported Miui 8 nearly all the way. I miss 5.7 inches and 2k a bit though.

I bought it. Waiting for it to ship still though. Won't expect it here until sometime next month ?. Considering the support the Mi Note Pro got, it was a hard decision though. Hopefully it's better this time around since the device seems more popular

Guys, we need help, bunch of people is working for enabling lte band 20 in xiaomi mi 5. All we need is some data, from xiaomi note 2 pro, so it would be wonderfull if somebody could do this. Check this link to topic I talked about http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-5/how-to/progress-trying-to-unlock-bands-t3337476/page51
If you want help, just say there, so people who are working on it would be notified, cause I don t know how to build that data.
Cheers to all happy owners!!

The only but big problem for me is that lack of fingerprint scanner, I don't want a thief starting to buy on Ebay or Amazon from my accounts and I don't want to unlock it with a pin a hundred time a day...

Hi Guys, are You speaking about "Mi Mix 2 is the new Mi Mix"?
WRONG!
Mi Mix 2 is just a new version of Xiaomi Borderless smartphone.
At the end of march/first days of april, Xiaomi will have an event to show a new device:
XIAOMI MI MIX 2+ (Mi Mix 2 Plus)
same design of the Mi Mix2 but with 6,4" Oled display.
Other technical features:
94,3% display area
Qualcomm 945 (not confirmed)
8Gb ram
256Gb memory
MicroSD + Wireless Charge (we all hope....)
Miui 9 with Android Oreo
same NOT good camera like Mi Mix/Mi Mix 2 (but with 4k 60fps Video) :crying:
*Source internal worker, confirmed from gearbest friends
What do you think about Mi Mix 2 Plus?
Honestly? Sounds Like bs

It's going to be the Mix 2S, not the Mix 2+. So it wasn't true. It's not going to be a 6,4inch screen.. This guy probably just summed up some specs he made up which seemed likely to happen in a newer model. (SD 945, really??)
wtf u can do with 8 gb ) ...maxim 6 gb is enough to make the rutine of the day. And second, version with 8 gb ram is not everywehere disponible. so guys, if u want more sofisticate, buy a laptop and when u want to go somewhere, throw it in ur asssss ))

He was just as accurate as most of the "leaks" on the tech websites when it comes to upcoming models. The fact that he did it a month after the original came out is quite commendable. Good for him. You need to chill.
Mix 2S made official today https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-launches-xiaomi-mi-mix-2s-qualcomm-snapdragon-845/
So which after seller usually has it first?
I wonder if it will be compliant with Project Treble
I that case may be it could be worth to change mimix2 to mimix2s....
I thought any phone that comes with Oreo is project treble by default?
Its a shame it only does 4k video recording at 30fps
I have a 4/64GB Xiaomi Mi A2, bought it the exact same month it was release so I think I have one of the first units.
With that being said, I have noticed some backlight bleeding with this device over the course of 5 months, I'm also affected by the eMMC "bug".
And since Xiaomi keeps screwing up more and more within each newest (and late) monthly system update, I keep noticing this phone's counterpart, Nokia 7 Plus, isn't suffering from those issues.
So I have the opportunity to return this device back to Amazon and getting my full money back, so I figured I'd pick up either the 128GB version of Xiaomi Mi A2 or a Nokia 7 Plus of 64GB as well.
I need an opinion on this.

This will definitely be a wise thing to do,
Nokia 7 plus excels in every department (aside from Camera and day to day snappiness) , You will really enjoy having a more bug free experience
I've used a Nokia before and I wouldn't go back to another Nokia device although they're well built. One thing that I've personally noticed and others have reported with their Nokia devices too is that with every android upgrade the overall system performance degrades. On top of that, there is no official bootloader unlock method for majority of Nokia devices including Nokia 7 plus and no much third-party development.
It's a typical 'the grass is greener on the other side' effect. The Nokia 7 plus has its own set of android pie issues, just check its forum.. Nokia devices generally have horrible ram management even with greater ram capacities.
I personally love my Mi A2 and would never go back to a Nokia even if I want to change my device. Maybe try and get your Mi A2 replaced to get the emmc bug fixed? ?* I personally don't have the bug so my experience with this device is probably different from yours.
Quick look on the Nokias xda page reveals it has it's own bugs and if you are into custom roms and stuff it's lacking even more in development. Couple of my friends have 7 plus and my A2 is outperforming them in every category altough it's not fair comparison since I haven't been on stock rom in months. In my opinion a2 is better phone and I never experienced any bug aside that my mmc is also one of those ****ty micron ones, but it doesn't have any impact at all in day to day use. I think that bug is just exaggerated by bunch of benchmarkwankers.
In the end it all comes down to personal preference. But if I were you I would definately go for a change just for the fun of it.
Get the 128gb version. The Samsung flash memory doesn't suffer from the read write bug and if you can get it for like under 200USD (I got mine on sale for 190) then it's the best bargain ever....
Well of course it comes with bugs but still a bargain though lol
wait for the pixel lite
I would never buy a completely locked Android phone, since software support sucks on all of them.
If I had to buy a locked phone, it would be an iPhone
Amazon has the 128GB but not for that price, although it seems the grass is greener on the other side, Nokia 7 Plus has a few features I wish Mi A2 had, like micro SD slot and NFC respectively

I have to agree with you on the sd card and nfc part. I miss those features too.
You don't have to get the 128gb version to fix the emmc bug. I have 32gb version (I bought it last month so it's probably the newer batch with the fixed emmc). Just try and send it in for warranty.
But if you want another device, I would suggest the redmi note 7 - another device by Xiaomi (now redmi is a brand of its own). It doesn't run stock android though and instead runs miui 10 and has all of the features the mi a2 doesn't.
If you're looking for budget stock android, then the Nokia phones are probably your only other best option. Keeping in mind the bootloader unlock is basically non existent.
Some other devices I came across were motorola one power and asus zenfone Max pro M1. Hop onto their respective forums here on XDA and see how active the development for them is.
If you're someone who upgrades phones every year or two and don't mess around with the phone, then you don't have to bother with bootloader unlocking and modding. In that case, the Nokia 7 plus would be a good buy.

That's the thing, my current Mi A2 is bootloader unlocked and using Pixel Experience due to Xiaomi's incompetence with updates.
I figure the 128GB version has the eMMC bug but just in case if I buy the same exact model, will you think it's a newer batch? There's no way to check either.
Alright, I've owned both the Mi A2 and the Nokia 7 Plus so I think I can give you a better breakdown. Both phones are good and both phones are solid. It really depends on what you prioritize more.
Mi A2:
Thinner and sleeker
Better camera and video
Lighter
More RAM and Memory variant
Has more custom development support
Nokia 7 Plus:
Better battery
Feels premium
Nice unique back texture
Heavier
But the Nokia 8.1 just came out, maybe you should check that out too?
Nokia 7 Plus Pros:
-Great Battery
-Good Cameras, not the best but good in proper lighting
-Great Build
-Cam2Api enabled by default
Cons:
i. No bug fixes since first Pie release, they only send patches
ii. Low light cam bad
iii. Late updates i.e blot on the name of Android enterprise recommend
iv. Software not optimized properly, lags, freezing, etc
v. Can't unlock bootloader
I have both MiA2 and N7P, there is not much difference except better battery in N7P, but Mia2's battery improved after hard reset from recovery and following proper charge cycle.
I currently own a Xiaomi mi 8, I love my cell phone but I think it's time to give way to a flagship. My options are the Mi 9T Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S10 +. Which smartphone do you recommend?
Well, if you're happy with xiaomi I guess mi9T pro is a great phone, but if you want something else I whould recommend oneplus 7T or Samsung galaxy S10E if you want a Samsung phone.
But if you're looking for the best bang for your buck I think realme X2 pro is the best option along side OP 7T

I would strongly suggest that you wait until March..at least. This way you can buy one of the many new phones that will feature an Snapdragon 865 processor. Such as the Xiaomi Mi10, Mix 4, One Plus 8, 8T etc.
Moving one generation higher isn't really enough of a difference to justify moving. Plus many of the phones with the very latest processors will also be compatible with 5G., and once these new phones are released the price of current flagships will definitely drop, so it's financially wiser to be patient.
If you search you will see quite a few posts here on XDA , where people discuss how they bought a Mi9T or a Samsung and they wanted to share that they regretted buying a new phone because they were expecting the new phone to have dramatic differences.
By the way, I had also considered selling my mi8 and moving on. But I will definitely wait.

You are absolutely right, it is better to wait a couple of months and get a flagship, and this year all top-of-the-range smartphone will have the screen with a minimum refresh rate of 90Hz
