When I purchase the phone without contract will it be unlocked or will I have to pay to get an unlock code? Does anybody know? Also its 500 to buy without contract. what sort of taxes will be added to that?
Cheers guys
JD
I bought it from Tmobile off contract and I think it was like around $40 taxes. Probably still need to get an unlock code because it's a Tmobile phone

It's locked to T-Mobile. Either wait 90 days and T-Mobile will then provide the unlock code free of charge, upon request within 24h or pay to get it unlocked now.

Do you know how much instant unlock is?
JD
Depends from site to site, shop around but unless they jack it up ( it's a known fact the device has AT&T HSPA+) it should be cheaper than the HDMI cable, strangely omitted from the package.
I've been asking around and several people have informed me that if you purchase the phone for full retail, t-mobile will provide you with an unlock code. I also found this on wikipedia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIM_lock#United_States
"One of the two national GSM carriers, T-Mobile,[43] will unlock handsets for those with active account in good standing for at least 40 days and no unlock code request in the last 90 days. T-Mobile will also unlock a phone if the full retail price is paid and proof of purchase is provided through a faxed document. "

If we wait long enough they may even come up with a way to unlock the phone without an unlock code, kinda like how they did with the mytouch4g. Root brings some great things with it

So as of this morning Moto Maker is finally live for all 4 major US carriers. At the end of the checkout process there's an option to enter a Promo Code. Does anyone know of one that will work on Verizon (if that matters)? I tried VERIZON30 and FIFTYRMN which I found through Google searches that may work through Verizon's website, but nothing works on the Moto Maker site. Anyone know of a working code?

You also get $10 Google Play credit if you share after you make your order.

Thank you. It appears that will work for a vzw one as well.
Looks like it's dead... Tried using it for TMo version. It accepts the code, but it says "NOT APPLIED" and no discount is shown.

I got the same thing. I contacted Motorola support and they advised the code was for accessories only, not phones.

Doubtful. I think it was probably a bug with the coupon in the beginning. I also called Motorola, as the above poster, and got a similar response: the coupon is for accessories and there is no coupon for the X itself at this time. Congrats to those who got to take advantage of it. I'm jealous.
As am I
Anyone have any April Fools day promo codes? I'm trying to get my dad a Moto X for his birthday.
Trying to figure out if the at&t version will work 100%,no drops, on t-mobile network.
I saw a couple post saying that the tmobile version works on at&t and that the 2 version are almost identical *source needed*. But nothing yet saying it works the other way
Reason is I have a bunch of reward certificates and a gift card for Best Buy, I know the att version is a little more expensive $825 vs $770, but i have enough to offset the difference and still make it cheaper.
Why would you want the att version lol, cost more
No original box
No headphones
No download booster
No unlocked boot loader
I have the same question about whether or not the AT&T Note 4 will work perfectly the same as a T-mobile version on the T-mobile network. I don't know why no one has mentioned how much cheaper it is to just go set up a new AT&T account to get the discount at Best Buy. You could buy it for $300 minus the $200 trade-in promotion + $70 in sales tax. So $170, then you have $40 activation + $60 for one month service + $350 ETF after 15 days, then get it unlocked. So the total out of pocket cost for the AT&T version is $620. Why would you buy the $750 T-mobile version, which would be $815 after sales tax. You save nearly $200 after all is said and done. Am I missing anything here? I haven't seen a single person mention doing this on this forum or over at androidcentral.

You are missing that you have to return the Note 4 to the manufacturer. See http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/returnpolicy.html#fbid=qD17b06g8-s

What does have to do with anything? Ive been lurking around xda since the 1st iphone came out
Well as I said I have a bunch of money in best buy that it would make it cheaper. But, after looking around the att version forum, found out that the bootloader is locked. So im just going to buy one straight from t-mobile, once they get more in-stock
So what if its my first post? I've used these forums for years as a lurker getting info on rooting, starting with my Sprint Epic Touch 4G. I've read all the posts I can on the Note 4, and seriously just wondered why no one discusses starting a new contract to get the phone at such a steep discount. I'm not trolling anyone, although there seems to be way more uneducated/uninformed people on here than usual.

After 15 days into a new contract with AT&T, if you want to cancel your service, you do NOT have to return the phone. To fulfill your contractual obligations, you pay the ETF. That seems to be it. You are stuck with the phone after 15 days if anything goes wrong, and yes, you would have to send it to the manufacturer for any warranty claims. But wouldn't that be the same case if you bought it without insurance anyways?
Back to the original question though, does anyone know of any issues with using the AT&T version on T-mobile once its been unlocked by AT&T? It has band 12 support, but could T-mobile pull some sort of throttling BS for it being an AT&T imei?

It's NOT the t mobile version of the phone, it's their service for some reason.
I get REALLY slow speeds on my t mobile note 4, but when I used an AT&T sim card, LTE was really fast and no PROBLEMS. I can't believe anyone would even consider a NOTE 4 AT&T version....unless they like that $300+ 2 year contract deal.

The deal has been extended at Best Buy until November 1.
Does T-Mobile Charge an Activation Fee when Signing up for New Service with Note 4?
If so, is it waived if purchased online?
Is it also waived if I purchase at the store?
Or does it vary?
I'm looking into the Simple Choice Plan (Postpaid).
Depends on the promo they have.. Best advice is call the store and ask

I just signed up (in-store), and there was a $15 "SIM Kit" charge. I believe it's the same online. No other fees.
no activation fees; thats so "verizon/att/sprint" ish...
No activation fees. I just switched from Verizon, and they only charged $10 for the sim kits.

Did tmobile give a free lg g4 to all its employees? I see round many if them sell these for cheap because they got them for free.
Sent from my SM-G920T
No, they do have a LG partner program that allows employees to purchase one for a discounted price. It's not free.

You tell me lol I have had 4 different lg g4 purchased online and all came from tmobile employees. I don't think they stole them or else they would not sell them online with name and address. They all said it was a gift and I believe them because when you check the imei on tmo website it shows not recognized, meaning it was a gift for real and never registered for sale. So there is something going on with tmobile and this phone.

Talk with your store manager they should have been contacted by a LG rep.
I think it's a limited time promotion that started about 3 weeks ago.

Only problem with these LG G4 units is that their IMEI's do not seem to be recognized by T-mobile...
http://lgpartnerpurchaseprogram.com/password password LGG4
So, I ended up buying one of these units unknowingly online. Like was said here, the IMEI isn't blacklisted per se, but it doesn't show up in tmobile's registry so I'm having a hell of a time trying to unlock it. Anybody successfully unlock one of these units? I've tried several online unlock services and tmobile has tried several times. Seems like even installing the h815 firmware hasn't worked for others. Any ideas?

Hey, I wanted to quickly ask anyone about the password they changed it to for the G5. I am a tech care employee as well and can't seem to find it. I already have my partnerpurchaseprogram account registered with my t-mobile.com email from the G4 and the V10 sale, but I feel like I didn't even get the G5 email and no one seems to know it. Does anyone know what they changed it to?
