hey guys, my girlfriens SXL has a few issues. It has no vol up and vol down buttons. They broke off.
I managed to root the phone using the Chinese iroot apk and it rooted the phone with out a problem and managed to enter fastboot via quick boot apk.
Locally the bootloader was already unlocked.
So i used the Felshify apk to flash twrp.
It all went with out any problems.
And i flashed runny kitkat 4.4.2.
the rom is pretty nice and seams stable. But the phone has a nother problem besides the missing vol up and vol down buttons.
the head phones dont work. They didnt work on stock in the first place.
Could this be a baseband problem like on some other devices? Is there a different baseband that can be flashed?
or is it a internal device problem?
And are the parts for the headphones and vol buttons removable. Can they be changed?
Ty

Hi all,
I recently got a samsung i9000 after owning an htc desire for a while.... I was more than happy with cm7 on the htc so i rooted etc and installed it on my galaxy... but it seems that its a bit more buggy on the i9000 port and i had loads of force closes and my phone was pretty unusable... so i then used clockwork recovery to install what i believed was the correct version of darky's rom 10.2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=814091) and now im stuck in a bootloop... when i turn it on for 'normal' use, the original GALAXY S logo comes up (the one that says SAMSUNG at the bottom of the screen.... then it switches to the GALAXY S logo with cyanogen(mod) underneath it, then it restarts and im back to the original SAMSUNG logo.
I've tried to enter download mode (vol down, home then power) and when i do this, it just restarts with the original logo in a loop until i let go, then the cyanogen(mod) logo comes up.
Ive downloaded kies and odin to a fresh machine, but when i connect the phone over usb, I get the litter circular timer icon lighting up my phone for a few seconds, then the cyanogen(mod) screen comes up for a few seconds.... and then reboots....
Anyone got a way out for me? ive been without a phone for a few days and its really hurting now!
So you can't get into download mode??, did you flash back to stock rom before flashing Darky's? Because with CM7 a froyo bootloader is needed, and with Darky's a GB bootloader is needed. If you can get into recovery, go to mounts and storage, format system, data, cache, and datadata. Then pull battery out and try getting into download mode again Vol down + home + power. Report back dude

No I'm afraid not, their are two other things you could try....using adb booting into download mode from their....or a jig....that will force it into download mode, u in the UK??

I guess you need a jig to get into download mode. after that, try to flash to different ROMs and see if you have fix the problem.
If you internal sd card is physically damaged, try this method here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1188482
Yep, Im in the UK.... I dont think the internal sd is damaged as it was fine before flashing darkies rom... Ive not used adb to try and force a 'download mode' before.... handy link to a tute?
sorry for my brevety, im quickly writing this at work!

Unfortunately no.
I know you can issue keypress commands from adb, but I'm not sure about fastboot. If you can issue them via fastboot, the code for the power button is 116.
Alternatively, you can try the passimg trick and root via exploit...
So after posting this I found a way to do it. If anyone want to know how, I can type out the steps.

I would like to know how to unlock the bootloader without using the power button.
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
I did not have to touch the bootloader. I downloaded "PASSIMG_Passion_Google_WWE_2.18.1700.1_FRG83_release_signed" renamed it to passimg flashed that using the volume down reboot option then I downloaded and installed GINGERBREAK and ROM MANAGER which allowed me to root and install a recovery manager. Then installed CyanogenMOD 7.1.0 it got stuck at CyanogenMOD screen. I then redid it making sure to wipe the system, data & cache partitions. Its working great!
That would be my second suggestion above...
cannot root 2.3.6 using zergRush exploit
I ran the runme.bat and everything ran just fine. no errors at all. After the phone booted back up i don't have SU permission. Still unrooted. Will zergrush 4.0 not work with 2.3.6, even though it looked like everything ran just fine? I wanted to post this in another, more appropriate forum but since I'm a noob, XDA wouldn't let me. BTW, I'm not looking to flash to a different ROM, just root.
So im trying to fix a friends cappy. its running miui but im not sure which version. all i know is that its running gingerbread. it doesnt have CWM installed and its bootlooping the miui logo screen. if i hold down the power and volume down button, it just goes to download mode. but heres the thing, the microusb port is broken. the only thing that works would be the microsd slot but unfortunately theres no CWM installed so i cant even install a rom via recovery. any tips on how to fix this?
I recommend that you fix the micro usb. you can find replacements via goigle search, as well as vendors who will do repair.
examples
http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/samsung-captivate-usb-port-repair/
http://www.cellulardr.com/samsung-s...ro-usb-system-connector-socket-interface.html
I'd suggest using a pc with odin 1.85 via usb cable, once you are fixed - I've had good luck with it, including from soft brick.

edit: added mobiletechvideos link, a vendor recommended by many here at xda forums.
I decided to install the AIO mod, i camed from Omar latest rom, did a clean install with rsd light and everything worked fine, instaled CWM and i flashed the aio mod zip, the debugging zip, the apps zip and a framework zip, and now it's stuck in the bootloader screen. I can't seem to acces fastboot mode or recovery, any ideas on how to fix this?
If it is stuck. Restart your device by holding all 4 buttons. Than when it starts to restart hold the volume down button. It will always get you in bootloader. Only when u hard brick the device with a downgrade methods it won't.
Sometimes it helps to have your device on charger. Just keep trying

The framework zip is your fault. They won't work with InfiniROM

The problem is that I can not connect the phone so I cannot flash the KDZ, do you have a good tutorial how I can flash it?
Have you already got CWM installed on your phone? If you have you need to do power on and volume up, not volume down so put a ROM on the SD card first, full wipe and flash a new ROM and gapps.. If that doesn't work then you need to try get adb access, and run commands such as adb reboot recovery etc, otherwise you need to reflash the .kdz of stock, if you search you'll find it!

Hey Bionic, do you know a good tutorial how I can get adb acces onto my phone?
@bionicsquirell It is volume DOWN + Power button don't spread misinfos.
@memo357 did you try holding Volume down while plugging into the PC? See if it will light up and show new devices on PC, then start searching here and you'll figure it out. If nothing happens, you're in too deep I'm afraid..

Volume UP still works to boot to recovery, just tried it now, its not misinfo ^.^
If your bootlooping maybe you could use adb to reboot to recovery!
I had this problem. I had to flash the stock boot loader on. Google search should have an lg exe for it. And instructions. I found it pretty easy and once back it should work. You will have to root again and just make sure you unlock your bootloader before applying a custom recover. The exe is called LG mobile support tool, the exe to restore the bootloader.
