[Q] Stuck on Htc logo / no more bootloader - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I had a twrp recovery and a viper rom
i wanted to get back to stock.
But when i flashed a stock rom i had no more touch
I changed radio from 4T to 4A
I wanted to try touchpad with a cyanogen to see...
It didn't work.
I made a wipe of everything.
It still didn't install. After reboot htc one m7 is stuck on htc logo.
I can't boot into bootloader or recovery anymore
when i hold power button it stop, but don't have time to try to boot to bootloader, it starts only on htc green logo
What can i do... i work on this for 3 days. I'm tired and don't know what to do anymore ...
thank you

FYI a "zip" is only a file extension, it can be a rom.zip, firmware.zip, ruu.zip, kernel.zip etc etc etc. Try to be more precise, what file exactly (complete name + link)

Hard to know without knowing what file you have flashed exactly and your phone info.
So post the output of "fastboot getvar all" and give us a link to the zip file you were trying to flash.

I never told you to flash the 7.19.401.2 ruu, it was in response to Dusmanas
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61414636&postcount=1700
Relock your booltoader if its unlocked and flash the 7.18.163.2 ruu.zip using htc_fastboot.exe. You'll find a thread with everything you need (file + instructions) in the general section where you had posted initially, thread shouldn't be far in the queue "Lollipop ruu collection" or something similar.
Edit: thanks to our moderators, its now a sticky thread in the general section, you'll find it easily

I had download the PN07IMG_M7_UL_L50_SENSE60_MR_Vodafone_FR_7.18.163.2_Radio_4T.35.3218.16_10.33Q.1718.01L_release_420592_signed.zip
i copy it to sdcard with adb push.
When i install, system tells me that it is unable to mount cache.
I have been downloading and copying the file twice but nothing change.
I made a repair of cache with twrp and nothing change too. :s

Like I said, instructions how to flash the ruu (that you are not following) are in the sticky thread "Collection Lollipop RUU" in the general section. I could rewrite everything down here buts its already well explained there, a little reading won't hurt . If you face any issue using these instructions then post back here.

4.06.651.2? If so you could try some things like different USB Port(USB 2 work best),different cable, different PC...but you may have already updated beyond that meaning you will have to go the long route

Follow the steps in the guide
Do it yourself rather then the RUU doing it...same outcome other then you will have a stock rooted rom rather then a factory rom.

I was afraid you'd say that. Here's my other problem. I can only get ADB to work using Philz touch recovery. And when i try to push the Zip file or anything like that i get some kind of error which doesnt let it complete. I'm sure you've been through this with other people hundreds of times so forgive me. I get a "failed to write data protocol <no status>"

My wife got some kind of corrupt file or virus on her phone and I ended up having to wipe EVERYTHING, OS, SDCARD, only thing on phone was bootloader and old version of TWRP, heres how I fixed it and it worked great.... Download the latest TWRP and flash it via fastboot, make sure you have the latest SDK tools on your computer, sideload the rom of your choice, there are instructions on the TWRP website, you should be good to go....

I have tried the latest rom for htc that was recommended from xda. was told to unlock bootloader push rom to device. then relock device the open twrp and install rom but this will not work because the bootloader is locked.
I am running out of ideas. I have spent nearly 5 days, day and night to revive my m7. followed every tutorial and all instructions thoroughly only to come to the same point. rom not installed.

Please just post in one thread only! Remove the IMEI information from getvar information.
There appears to be a RUU for your device here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/general/lollipop-ruu-zip-small-collection-t3053944
See 7.19.980.5
However your current version main is 7.21.980.35 so I'm not sure it will flash since the device has a newer version already installed. Scroll to the bottom of the page and read the instructions for "How to downgrade with S-ON" and change the current version main to 7.19.980.5 then flash the RUU.
Hope this works for you

^^+1, this should get the phone back to stock without any problem.
@mb_guy This is real mess now lol, he posted at 3 different places, one member telling him to unlock and flash a custom rom (which is ok), another member telling him to flash the wrong RUU without even looking at his getvar and us now telling him to do something different here. Hope he now understand why he shouldn't create 2 threads for the same issues and post in a 3rd one... : Contradictory advice and confusion :crying:
A BIG thank you
I would like to thank the team and their members for helping me Restore my HTC back to normal. It was a very frustrating and time consuming process for a novice phone hacker. but managed to get everything back to normal from this last thread response, and managed to unlock, root and s-off as well, which was the process i was trying to achieve in thew first place. I now have backed up my phone system and kept a copy of the working ROM.
I am sorry for any issues that I may have caused by creating a new forum thread, I didn't realise this was bad online etiquette. It was purely because I was not getting the right responses from the existing threads, and mostly because I am not that familiar with how forums work.
Thanks again and keep up the good work.
Shane.

No problem mate, in the future just remember you can edit your thread title and all your posts if you don't get the right answer or if you have more info to add. You can also bump your thread once a day if you don't get any answer. :good:

@mb_guy This is real mess now lol, he posted at 3 different places, one member telling him to unlock and flash a custom rom (which is ok), another member telling him to flash the wrong RUU without even looking at his getvar and us now telling him to do something different here. Hope he now understand why he shouldn't create 2 threads for the same issues and post in a 3rd one... : Contradictory advice and confusion :crying:

Hi
Just wondering if this ruu that i have installed in this post will accept software updates? I am rooted and s-off. will the update affect the current status?

Yes but root might be a problem. Lot of ppl ended with softbricked phone after installing a Lollipop ota update over a rooted stock rom. Backup your files first, then try to update. If that doesn't work you can always re-flash the RUU and take all ota updates before rooting.

unfortunately set up wizard has stopped working

Hi, i have recently been trying to root my htc m7, but had problems along the way so tried to do a factory restore with TWRP, it got as far as updating all apps but then gave a message "unfortunately set up wizard has stopped working". and i cant get into any phone settings.
I can get into bootloader and TWRP ( phone is showing tampered and unlocked )
Could do with a little assist cos im quite a noob at this......thanx in advance for any comments

Reflash a rom or a ruu. Something on /system got corrupt, a factory reset won't fix anything on /system.
What was the problem with root exactly?

You want to ruu the stock + root rom or a custom rom? Post the output of "fastboot getvar all" (hide your imei and serialno).

Are you sure your version-main is really 7.25.771.551?
You could flash the 7.19.771.21 RUU but since your phone is S-ON you'll have to change your version-main.
file at post #2 of this thread, instruction at post #1. version-main downgrade explained at the end of post #2 (how to downgrade with s-on)
Your other option is to flash any custom rom you'd like from twrp. Most roms are pre-rooted btw. ARHD is good one to start with, stable, looks like a stock rom but with many improvements. There are also some good Sense 7 roms like InsertCoin or NewSenSeven.

Thank you for info, where would i find the stock rom to match my version main, after all, I just wanted to try and "root" the phone in the first place.
If I got it back to original state then maybe i could start over again with proper guidance.
Sorry if I sound like a proper novice............. but i am...........thanks once again.

There is no rom that match your version-main, thats why I suggested that you either change your version-main using the downgrade guide so you can flash the 7.19.771.21 RUU (you'll be able to update back to your current version after) or to flash any custom rom you'd like.
Sorry I understand now, I'll have a shot at downgrading and see how it goes. Thanks for your time and advice.

Post your fastboot getvar all output, but erase your IMEI and serial number from it. That way we will be able to point you in the right direction
What a coincidence!
I'm about to "unroot" my old HTC M7 for my kid so he can play Pokemon Go on it.

Not sure if this "old" device will be able to play Pokémon Go when flashed to the original "old" ROM!
it needs Android 4.4+

This old device received officiall Android Lollipop years ago, so you'll be fine with pokemon go. I'm gonna see if I have my old h-boot stored for you when I come home from work. I think you can go directly to the last one because your phone is s-off, but I'm not sure about that because your h-boot is very old. If you can hold on for about 12 hours, I'll point you to the right direction then

Downgrade your version-main # to 7.18.708.2 using the guide at the end of this post (how to downgrade with s-on). Once done flash the 7.18.708.21 RUU using instruction of this post. Finally you'll have to take 2 ota update so you're back on 7.18.708.51 (if you need to unlock/root again make sure to install update before)

fastboot oem rebootRUU will make your phoned reboot in ruu mode (that black screen with silver htc logo). Once in ruu mode, it's time to flash the ruu using "fastboot flashing zip ruu.zip". During the flashings process you should get an error saying "flush image again immediately", the phone will reboot itself in ruu mode again and the flashing will continue,it's all normal.

If the ruu flashed fine, it's not rooted anymore. Root files are stored on the /system partition which is wiped and flashed back to stock with the ruu.

Flashing firmware or RUU is done using fastboot commands in RUU mode, not with twrp, neither with adb.

Look at the stickies in the general section to find the lollipop ruu collection thread. Instructions how to flash are provided at post #1.
