[Q] Swap Moto X nano sim into Nexus 6? - Moto X Q&A

If I swap my Moto X (T-Mo) nano sim into a new Nexus 6 will the service transfer to the N6 or will I have to go into a T-Mo store or call their support? I may go the Google Fi service eventually with their dual sim.

Just did it with AT&T SIM this week, no problem or other action required

[Q] how do i activate my moto x on Verizon

I will be getting my new moto x in a couple days to replace my galaxy nexus. I was just wondering how or if I can activate my new phone and make it the primary phone, without going to a Verizon store. Any info could be helpful. Thanks!
Do it online through My Verizon, or call VZW and change the device you're using.

All the info you need is on the box. You'll need the IMEI and Sim ICCID (long number with lots of 0s). Go to "activate or switch devices" on the home page.
I'm waiting for my verizon version as well. Does it come with a nano sim? Or do you think that'd be a trip to the verizon store? Or just perhaps cut the sim from my note 3 down? Any input? If it helps I ordered mine off contract with the cyber Monday $150 off deal

The sim should be included. No trip to the store required.

Sim is inside the phone already. They include a small pin if you need to remove it but you don't need to. Register the phone and sim using the info on the box.
And if your current device uses a Nano SIM (iphone 5 for example), you can just move the nano sim from your old device to the X.
And of course, you can use SIM adapters to put the nano sim into other phones, if you need to switch back to your old phone for some reason.

[Q] VZW IMEI question

So I have a Moto X (2014) and want to activate a N6. I got VWZ to send me a Nano SIM for the N6 under the pretense that I had bought another nano SIM compatible phone on eBay. I can't just swap the Moto X sim into the N6 because I need it to still work as a separate phone.
So my question is what happens if I use the IMEI from the Moto X to activate the N6? Will it disconnect or otherwise impact the Moto X? I am new to VZW, under AT&T I don't think this would have been a problem.
Edit: Posted to wrong forum, if someone can move this into Q&A I would appreciate it.
Are you adding the N6 as a second line? You only need the IMEI to activate the SIM. You can't have the same IMEI showing up twice for two different lines. Go to a store and copy an IMEI from another phone. Go home one you have the fresh SIM card and use the copied IMEI with CSR to pretend you are activating that phone. After hanging up, pop the SIM into the N6.
Yea I would be adding this as a additional line.
Is the idea to not have the same IMEI on two devices on the same account, or all across VZW? What if I had a friend with a Droid Turbo, would using their IMEI work?

The imei isn't tied to the sim. Just get the sim activated on a line on your account. The device doesn't matter.

Not 100% related, but I was able to buy a Sprint Nexus 6 and use it on VZW with 0 issues. Once the nano sim is active, you're good.

Which nano sim will I use?

Right now I'm using iPhone 6 plus. N6 will arriving today. Do I need to activate the new sim that came with N6 or just remove my iPhone sim and transfer to N6? I'm wondering if the system will automatically detect I'm using the correct device.
You just insert your sim. That simple.

It depends on your carrier. If your iPhone 6 Plus is on AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon, you can just swap the SIM card and everything will work. If you're on Sprint or US Cellular, you can swap the SIM but you'll have to call the carrier first and have them pair your old SIM card number with your Nexus 6's MEID.

On att it already comes with a sim inserted. Just call and activate from your current phone.
use the same SIM... or if it came with a SIM inside, you can change your SIM. the newer SIM the better

Moto X4 Android One on Verizon

Hello all,
My Nexus 6p seems to have that Bootlooping issue, but I bought it at Best Buy so i can't RMA it. My plan is to make a Fi account for 1 month, buy a Moto X4 Android one edition, send my dead nexus 6p back to google (the trade in asks if it powers on not if it successfully boots), and then use the Moto X4 on Verizon. Has anyone successfully been using the android one version on Verizon and if so how well does it. Work? Also am i able to sign up for Fi for one month and then cancel it?
It supports all the correct LTE bands, so it should be theoretically compatible. Whether Verizon will accept it or not is another matter.
Yes, it works perfectly (if you already have an activated Verizon SIM card). To the point where VVM is built-in to the phone app and it supports HD calling.
You also don't even have to pay for a month of Fi. When you receive the phone, immediately put in your Verizon SIM card without booting up the phone, and you're good. Fi only starts charging when you activate the Fi SIM card.
Actually, now that I think about it, I'm wondering if both could be used. I already have Project Fi, and if this phone is dual-sim, could I put a data-only Verizon SIM in it to supplement the Fi coverage?
Fi uses T-mobile, Sprint, and US Cellular towers. If I were to add Verizon into the mix for an extra $20/month, that would probably be the best coverage possible, right?
Can confirm VoLTE and visual voicemail works out of the box. I haven't run into any issues as of yet :fingers-crossed:

The x4 I just received from Fi does not have a dual sim slot. The slot has room for 1 sim and 1 micro sd card. I have both inserted and the tray is full.
Does the verizon version come with a dual-sim option? Do they also allow a micro sd card?

None of the US carriers have announced they will carry the Moto X4 yet. I'd expect an announcement sometime after their earnings call this quarter if they did. I doubt they would allow dual sim on their network though. As far as a dual sim in North America, the XT1900-7 is listed as a dual-sim but idk if it's passed the FCC yet.

Hey all thanks for the replies. FYI i ended up jumping on the Beat Buy Essential Phone $100 off deal, but its good to know if im in the market for a phone again sooner than i would hope....

Quick question, if you put the Verizon sim in first, won't it update the software to make unlocking the bootloader impossible later on? I thought I read to make sure before you use the Verizon network, that you boot the phone either without the sim on wifi or with a sim from something other than Verizon so you could update the software an unlock the bootloader before Verizon slammed the door shut on you. If that's incorrect please enlighten, because I'm thinking of getting this phone to use on Verizon to replace my moto x pure.

This has not been the case, for me on Verizon, with a Moto X Pure Edition 2015, a Nexus 6P and a Moto Z2 Play (US Unlocked).
I have unlocked the bootloader and rooted all three.

Question New Pixel 7 and SIM question

I received an offer from Google for free Google Fi service till the end of '22. I ordered a SIM card from Google and plan on porting over a number from Cricket (from my OnePlus 7T). I just received the Fi SIM card. However, I also just decided to purchase a new Pixel 7 phone. I would like to still take advantage of the free Fi for the remainder of the year (porting over one number from Cricket) but also put my Cricket SIM with my other number in my new Pixel. My question is how do i do this when the Pixel only has one physical SIM slot (i currently have two physical SIMs - Cricket and Fi) and one eSiM slot?? thanks for helping a newbie here!!

Easy peasy. eSim your Fi number and keep the physical sim for Cricket. You'll only have one line active but both lines available (DSDS or dual sim dual standby) for a while. It's rumored that with a feature drop you can have both lines active and usable but that might be a while.
thanks for the quick reply! how do i "eSim my Fi Number"?? also- both cant be active at the same time? that changes everything. i intend to port over one number from cricket to the eSim on the Pixel (a seldom used work number) while keeping my other number active with cricket and putting that physical sim in the pixel - and of course using both. this is not possible?
