I have an Oct. 2014 model Kindle Fire HD 7, and would like to flash some of these ROMs. However, as I have hardbricked a previous Kindle, I want to make sure this is the right place.

Given your prior activity in this forum you should already know FireOS 5.3.2.1 can not be rooted at present. Only 5.3.1 and below; 5.3.2 can be rolled back to 5.3.1. 5.3.2.1 and above can not be rolled back; device will brick if attempted.

Hi, does anyone have a link location to download FireOS 5.4.0.0 / FireOS 5.4.0.1 for Fire HD 10.1 (7th gen)? I'm currently updated to 5.6.0.0 and wanted to downgrade to FireOS 5.4.0.0.
I managed to snag a few 10.1 on the FireOS 5.4.0.0 and was able to use the Bloatware removal tool.

Downgrading often bricks fire tablets (at least the 2017 models). I believe 5.6 in particular cannot be downgraded, and attempting it may break your tablet.

One must be cognizant of which models can be safely downgraded and to which builds. There are claims 7th and 8th gen models can be successful rolled back from 5.6.0.0 to 5.4.0.0 via 5.4.0.1. I have seen no similar claims for HD 10s.
As for firmware you will need to look elsewhere as this forum is for 5th/7th gen Fire 7 models only. The HD8/10 forum would be a good starting point.

So, lately I've seen a ton of threads for 5th and 7th gen tablets on how to unlock the boot loader and downgrade. Just wondering if there's anything out there for the 4th gen tablets.

Did you used "search" before? I asssume that NO.
This is the wrong forum and please specify your model. HD6 2014? HD7 2014? HD8.9 2014?
I'd like to upgrade this KF HD and I've downloaded a couple of ROM's but I don't want to brick this thing. It's rooted and I've got TWRP installed. I believe this is a first generation HD. It's got 16GB, wi-fi, only a front camera AND it has an HDMI port which I think the 2nd gen does not have. Model number is X43Z60, serial number begins with D025. Is this a Ford or Austin device? Will those ROM's be OK? I've downloaded the lineage-14.1 ROMS.
