ME572c stuck on settings screen - MeMO Pad 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody.
i have updated my tablet and stuck now on the welcome screen page.
I have installed this version : ASUS MeMO Pad (ME572C)Software Image Version: V12.14.1.12 For WW SKU only* from this page http://www.asus.com/de/Tablets/ASUS_MeMO_Pad_7_ME572C/HelpDesk_Download/
i have fellowed this instruction here :
ME572c recovery
Today I did it : I changed a setting I shouldn't and my Memo became unusable (boot loop ?); even factory reset didn't do the trick...
So now I can make a How-to for recovery and rooting ;o)
Recovery (stock firmware) :
==> You'll need a MicroSD card on wich you have to put a file with you PC (or another device)
Prepare SD :
- Get update file from Asus (mine was UL-K007-WW-11.8.3.30-user.zip for 8.3.30 version and WW device)
- Copy file to FAT formatted MicroSD and rename it "MOFD_SDUPDATE.zip"
Go to droidboot mode :
- turn the K007 on with "Power" and "Volume UP" keys and keep'em pressed
- release "Power" when the screen turns on
- then release "Vol UP" a few second later when the Asus logo disappears
Flash :
- insert MicroSD into K007 slot
- Select "SD Download" using "Vol DOWN" key then confirm with "Power"
==> It will flash the device with the original Asus firmware and reboot to display the first launch wizard...
Not sent from my K007...
I found the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/memo-pad-7/general/me572c-root-debloat-t2992131
Now everytime i boot with power button + volume up i got this screen (picture one and two)
When i try to boot into recovery, the tablet always try to update the system. When an sd card is insert with FW V12.14.1.12 it install it, but nothing changed. When no sd card is insert, a failure come (picture 3)
Everytime after the fifth settings page ( the time settings picture 4) the app go back to first page (picture 5)
I can not get out off the welcome app. even sliding up from the bottom of the screen. Or slide from the top i see no bottoms and no settings

opps. sorry. bad suggestion and deleted

If you see picture 3, just hold power button and press volume-up button. Now you are into the recovery menu and you can do " wipe data/factory reset ".

[Guide] Full Tutorial To Install Custom ROM [GT-P6800]

thnxs to sk806,(go and thank him first)
First, you need to root your device. Download the link from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21584547&postcount=1.
Put the file "root.zip" you just downloaded onto your EXTERNAL SDcard.
Then, power off the device.
When it's off (it'll buzz), press the volume up key (the one closer the power button) and the power key at the same time.
After a few seconds, the "Galaxy Tab 7.7" splash screen will come up. When it does, LET GO OF THE POWER BUTTON, BUT KEEP HOLDING THE VOLUME UP BUTTON.
Soon you will see some yellow writing on your screen saying the device is copying apks, etc. What is happening is you are booting into the tablet's stock recovery. After a bit, the yellow writing will go away, and then you will arrive at a blue menu.
Using the volume keys, select "install from external storage", then press the power button. You will arrive at a menu of your sd card.
Using the volume keys, select "root.zip" and press the power button.
You will again see some yellow writing and your device will be rooted.
After it's done, reboot the device by selecting reboot and pressing power (it may reboot automatically, I can't remember). You are now rooted!
Now that you are rooted, you need to flash the ported Clockwork Mod Recovery for this tablet onto your device. This is a custom recovery that will replace the stock one you saw before and allow you to flash custom ROMs...You can download the recovery .tar file in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21957277&postcount=1.
You can flash the file your just downloaded, "P6800_Recovery.tar" one of two ways: with an app on the market called "Mobile ODIN", it costs a few dollars, or you can download a windows desktop version of ODIN here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19760431&postcount=1. THE MOBILE ODIN METHOD IS MUCH EASIER, AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!! If you choose to use Mobile Odin, proceed to the next step and skip steps 14-20, below. If you decide to go the desktop way, skip ahead to step 14.
If you are using Mobile Odin, you just copy the "P6800_Recovery.tar" file to your internal or external storage. Then open Open Mobile Odin. You will see a menu. Toward the bottom, you will see an option to "Open file". Select this and then navigate to the "P6800_Recovery.tar" it will load it up (you will see it in the "recovery" slot). Then hit "Flash Firmware". Wait while it does it's thing, and it will reboot automatically. When it reboots, you have successfully flashed Clockwork Mod Recovery onto your device.
If you use the desktop version, you need to first install Samsung Kies (Google it) to get the proper drivers for you PC to recognize your tablet when plugged in via USB.
Then, copy "P6800_Recovery.tar" to your PC desktop.
Then, you need to unzip the ODIN 1.85.zip you downloaded from the link above onto your desktop, go into the unzipped ODIN folder and run the Odin 1.85.exe.
You will be shown a GUI with a list of buttons on the lower right side (PIT, Recovery, CSC, PDA, Phone, etc.). You want to click the button that says "PDA" and then, in the file selector, choose the "P6800_Recovery.tar" file.
Next you need to put your phone in "download" mode. To do this, power off the device. When it's off, press the VOLUME DOWN and power keys at the same time. When you see the "Galaxy Tab 7.7" splash screen, let go of the power button, but keep holding the volume down button (so, it's like booting into recovery, but with the volume down button, instead).
You will then be shown a caution prompt asking if you really want to enter download mode, hit the volume up key to select yes. Now, plug the tablet into the USB cable that came with your tablet and wait for windows to install the drivers (as noted above, this is why you installed Kies). You will know your device is properly connected when one of the windows in the upper left of the GUI has a yellow bar at the bottom of it and says COM:3 or whatever port you are on.
When you are sure your are connected, click the big Start button and it will go through the process, and your tablet will reboot automatically. You now have Clockwork Mod Recovery flashed to your tablet.
Once you have Clocwork Mod Recovery Flashed onto your device, the last step is to flash the custom ROM.
Download ROM zip file from the thread, then place it somewhere on the internal or external storage of your device, then power off.
Once your device is off, you will boot into recovery like you did above, press the volume up and power keys at the same time, and when you see the "Galaxy Tab 7.7" splash screen. let go of the power button, but hold the volume up key until you boot into clockwork mod recovery (you will see a blue menu again with a little logo of a hat on a gear.
As you will see, this is a different recovery from the one you booted into before, it is a custom recovery that will allow you to flash custom ROMs!
Using the volume keys and selecting with the power key, first perform "wipe data/factory reset". When that's done, perform "wipe cache partition".
When you have done these two wipes, select "Install zip from sdcard". You will then be shown a list of your sdcard's contents. Navigate to the ROM .zip file and press the power key. It will then ask you if you are sure, and select yes then press the power key. You will now see a little progress bar and a description of what is happening. It takes a while and your device will reboot automatically when it's finished.
That's it, you have a custom ROM on your tab!

This is the tutorial as I wrote it...I suggest you edit the OP with this, or the version above. If you hit the "Quote" button below, you can copy the properly formatted text from the reply window (it will start with [QUOTE: blah blah], have "[*]" instead of numbers, and end with [QUOTE/]), and then copy and paste to your OP. first question:
Why you can flash this ROM with your stock recovery, i look inside the script steve made and found that
-script mounting and unmounting /data and /system partition
-deleting file system from /data and /system partition
-moving file from zip to /system and /data partition
-making busybox symlinks
-installing kernel
-set some permission
All above process is support with edify script from stock recovery...( until now, i dont know if samsung lock it someday) thats why you can install steve ROM...

This is correct. The tutorial was for all custom ROMs to come, not just my tweaked stock one. The fact that you can flash my ROM is because it is nothing too exotic (it's stock...) and the bootloader and recovery on the tab is not locked down. These things may change, and it is better to have the CWM recovery for that reason AND, especially, as noted in the post above, you can make NANDROID backups which you really should do before you flash a custom ROM...
Steve
thx for the explanation !
i now use CWM recovery, flashed with Odin mobile
great tut, but my CHINA P6800 will not accept any other ROM install for some reason. Yes, I have a brain and others confirm it's somehow locked. No f-ing idea how; more research after (endless) travel.

This should be included in the tutorial imo.
so in a nutshell, we're bootloader unlocked, I can get my brand new HK galaxy tab 7.7 and root/CWM right away (like my OG tab) without having to do any Bootloader unlock method?

[Q] Phone is always booting in TWRP Mode

I'm new to this forum,
I tried to flash using signed-broodROM-JB-Release-1.zip.
I have followed these steps
Turn off your phone.
Reboot the phone into Recovery Mode by holding down the Volume Up and Power keys. When the Samsung logo appears, release both buttons. When “Android out of the Box” is displayed, tap the Menu button. DO NOT press the Home button during bootup, or else the phone will enter RAM Dump Mode.
On the recovery menu, select Apply update from SD card or Install ZIP from SD card.
Locate the twrp2.2.1-recovery.zip file and confirm that you want to install the file.
Reboot your phone afterwards.
Turn off the phone.
Reboot the phone into Recovery Mode as in step 2.
If you see the TWRP Recovery menu, then you’ve successfully flashed the new custom recovery over your phone’s stock recovery.
1.Copy the signed-broodROM-JB-Release-1.zip file and the Google Apps package to the internal SD card of your phone.
2.Turn off the phone.
3.Boot your phone into Recovery Mode. You can do this by pressing and holding down the Volume Up and Power buttons at the same time. You can then let go of the buttons once the Samsung logo on the screen appears. When the icon bearing an Android inside a box shows up, press the Menu button.
4.Select Wipe data/factory reset and confirm the action on the next screen.
5.Select Wipe and choose Cache. Confirm the action on the next screen.
6.Select Install ZIP from SD card. Select Choose ZIP from SD card and locate the signed-broodROM-JB-Release-1.zip file. Confirm the installation on the next screen.
Once the installation is complete, flash the Google Apps package in the same manner as in step 7.
Go back to the main menu and select Reboot system now to reboot your phone. It would take about 5-7 minutes to boot for the first time.
But NOW my phone is always starting with TWRP Mode...Help??
Is my phone bricked??

How to install
custom rom
******************
You will need:
*PC with Odin 3.13.1 or above
(https://samsungodin.com)
*TWRP .tar image for your model
Flat: https://eu.dl.twrp.me/herolte/
Edge: https://eu.dl.twrp.me/hero2lte/
*Rom
(Stored on external memory/sdcard)
*Unlocked OEM
To unlock OEM
********************************************
Go to settings, phone information, and tap build number until it says developer options unlocked, press back twice and go into developer options turn on OEM unlock
********************************************
1. Put your phone into download mode by turning your phone off, now press volume down, power and home key at the same time until the screen turns green, then release the buttons.
2. Open Odin on your PC and plug the USB cable into your phone and press volume up.
You will see it is connected to Odin, (there will be a blue rectangle saying com(number)
3. Select the AP section and load your TWRP .tar image in there.
4. Get ready to press volume up, home and power button at same time on your phone now press start on Odin, it will only take a few seconds, as soon as the box goes green and says pass, press the volume up, home and power button combo until TWRP splash screen shows up on your phone screen. Now release button combo and unplug USB cable from your phone.
5. In twrp press wipe, then format. A keyboard will appear, type yes and press enter. Now press back to go to TWRP main screen and press reboot and select reboot to recovery. It will now reboot back into TWRP.
6. Press wipe again, then format, type yes, press enter. (Do this 3 times)
Press back to go to TWRP main screen and press wipe, select advanced wipe, check all boxes apart from OTG and SDCARD and swipe. (Do this 3 times)
Press back to go to TWRP main screen and press wipe then swipe to factory reset. (Do this 3 times)
********************************************
Your phone is now completely clear with no operating system and ready to flash a custom rom. When you downloaded your rom, you stored it on your sd card or external storage, you need to do this as when you do all the wipes it wipes your internal storage but not your sd card, that's why it says in advanced wipe don't check the sd card or OTG boxes.
********************************************
7. Press back until you go to main screen in TWRP and select install, select storage, external (sd card) and select the rom zip. Now just swipe to flash.
Normally it will go into aroma which contains check boxes of extra items to add into the rom, this rom however is a straight flash, it will automatically detect your phone model and select the correct kernel and battery capacity. It will say Installation finished when done. Now go back to main twrp screen and select reboot and press system. The phone will reboot, leave it 10-15mins to allow it to load the rom, be patient. Then you will be at the set up page just like starting a new phone. Set up from there and enjoy the rom.

you walk with everything excellent I congratulate you
Many thanks Looks amazing love the fact it's debloated. Downloading now
So far it looks very good, so brisk.
One thing I'm looking for - automatic call recording. I don't know if this version allows it in the usual place in Phone - I haven't found the settings yet.
Strictly good work. Thanks for that.
