Are there any CLEAR back screen protectors that can prevent the rainbow/smudge effect on plastic clear cases?
Problem/Rant:
I use a Ringke Fusion clear case. I really love this case as this is the only case with dust covers on the s6 edge. However, I have a bone to pick with the back film protector that they included in the package to prevent the rainbow/smudge effect. First off, its not clear so it ruins the whole purpose of showing off the back of your phone. Secondly, the film does not cover the entire back of the phone.........seriously......not only does it look bad since it is frosted (not clear), it makes it even more obvious when you can see the outlines of the film through the back of your case....sigh....

I pictures seem pretty clear but some of the videos aren't as clear as I had hoped for. I'm running a tmobile note 4 with rapture rom 8.2 and an anti glare screen cover.

The only reason I haven't taken it off to try is I've installed it so perfectly centered, without bubbles I think I'd be hard pressed to repeat such a feat if I took the cover off.
I'm wondering what type of adhesives are used to adhere screen protectors to the cell phone display. Maybe we can use some of strong, yet removable adhesives to help stick the screen protectors to the curved edges of the Galaxy S7 Edge. Then we can use whatever case we want and not worry about peeling edges.
Anyway, my question is about the types of adhesives used for this application.
Thanks!

There are a few used like silicone and double sided tape. Then you have wet and dry installed screen protectors which I'm not sure what adheres them. You don't want something too strong that would stick because they do get worn and need to be removed

So could I use some regular clear silicone, like from Home Depot, to stick down the edges of a screen protector on the curved sides of the S7 Edge? How optically clear would that be? Would it be easy to remove later?

I wouldn't but it's your phone. Don't know about regular silicone but what kind of screen protector are you trying to stick down that won't stay?! If your having trouble with screen protectors and cases, you can get a case friendly protector. Or if your looking for glass check out the thread about them. I'm running amazingthing and commuter case and it fits fine with no liftingood at all. I like cases but don't change them out often enough. I'd really just prefer a spring holster as that's what I used with my previous non samsung phones..
i have try the tpu protector, current techmology is very difficult to install on phone
The Edge screen with how most of the cases work today has caused me issues with almost every one I have tried. It always ends up getting peeled up at the top and the bottom and often the corners as well. I am considering trying to trim my skinomi screen protector to make it not get in the way of the case.
Why can't there be a tacky optically clear adhesive that we can use on the edges of screen protectors to make them stay down? The glass screen protectors have some sort of silicone adhesive on the edges, why not have that on PET or TPU protectors as well?
So I received my second package from To2c.com which contained my 2 cases & to my surprise another clear Tpu gel case & screen protector.
So I now have received 2 Gel cases & 2 screen protectors free from To2c.com!!!
This review is of the MOFI flip RUI flip case in black.
It cost $5.99 USD bundled with purchase of the phone.
Overall it is quite well made it contains a semi grey clear Tpu case to hold the phone to the outer case.
Time will tell whether or not the gel case separates from the outer as I've had this happen before with this type of case.
All the appropriate cutouts are big enough & clear every peripheral device needed, the speaker holes are not covered in any way & it's very very slim.
What I noticed straight away was if you have the back flipped open & pick up the phone it covers the fingerprint reader...so it needs to be closed or semi closed to unlock :/
This will be the same with any of these types of covers, not a deal breaker but that's where an open faced type case would be an advantage.
Edit:
Cons:
I find it quite bulky when the cover is flipped open to the back, the bend on the folding edge has no give & I don't think it ever will because it needs to roll around the phones edge.
Also the power & volume buttons are impeded slightly by the outer hard edge of the case.
I'm undecided...& will update.
Most tempered glass screen protectors come with an install frame. Can i still use the clear case or will the frame get in the way?
I have a lg v20 atm and if i use a tempered glass screen protector i will sometimes get oil like stains on it. Does the same problem exist with the note 9? I will most likely get a normal 13€ screen protector from amazon.de and just hope that the s pen will still work, that i can still use a case with it and that there wont be any annoying oil like stains
Personally I haven't had any compatibility issues between cases and cheaper screen protectors, since most of them don't cover the screen edge-to-edge. What will likely happen with the cheaper ones is the rainbow effect resembling an oil stain which you mentioned - this happens because underneath most screen protectors is a microscopic dot matrix keeping the glass slightly elevated from the display surface, with glue only on the edges of the protector. To avoid this, what you want is a screen protector that utilizes a full glue structure; in short, a glass protector whose entire surface area is adhered to the display. These are sold less and less, because generally they're very tricky to install on curved glass. You might want to consider products like the Whitestone Dome, which uses liquid UV glue.
You don't need to worry about the S pen - Unless your new screen protector is made of metal, it will work with every film or glass sheet out there.
I've got a Whitestone Dome protector fitted to my NOTE9 and I'm using the Samsung clear case that came with my phone.
No issues at all, the Samsung clear case and Whitestone Dome protector do not interfere with each other.
Just confirming... are you referring to the Samsung Note9 S-View Cover?
If so, most screen protectors shouldn't interfere with the case. The frame you referenced is generally for installing the protector, then it's removed.
I use an S-View Cover. I like it in general, but two things:
1) Anticipate that the cover won't set flat for a while (if ever): Some have used a hairdryer or heatgun along the rib to get it to relax. That helped mine a bit.
2) It scratches easily! If I had a do-over, I'd try to find a protective film to cover it
I've got a Whitestone glass screen protector and the Samsung case has no problems, also have an Otterbox Symmetry case and no problem with that one either. Like was said most glass screen protectors don't go right to the edge so most case should have no trouble.
What tempered glass is everyone using for the V60? I don't use the Dual Screen, so I just need it to cover the phone screen.
Dmax glass was the thinnest glass screen protector I have ever seen for any phone I've put glass on ever.
Came in a pack of two. I chipped and cracked the edge of one with my fingernail simply taking the film off to install it. The second cracked in a couple days later from setting the phone down too hard I guess.
LK glass had poor adhesion. Large air bubbles on the edges of the screen. Bad enough I took it off after a month to try a diffrent brand. Noticed the sticky part of the glass felt subpar after uninstall.
Now using Zagg glass and its okay. Doable for now. However a thin ring shaped air bubble is present on the Zagg around the edges of the screen. It's thin and even, and can't be seen when the screen is on. When off it looks like its gonna start peeling up at the edges.
The issue I had with glass is that its too thick to close the cover if you have one on the phone and one on the sexind screen
AmFilm is what I put on the phone today. Came in a pack of three. Probably the best protector I've tried yet.
Thicker glass, might be a true 0.3mm. No bubbles or rings near the edges. Sticks very well, good adhesive.
Touch is good and looks are good with the screen off or on.
However, AmFilm is slightly (1mm?) shorter and narrower than the Zagg glass.
The Zagg glass was 0.26-0.23mm thick and covered more screen surface. The Zagg covers more screen surface than LK, DMax, or AmFilm.
However, the Zagg never adhered to the screen edges completely resulting in a white ring air pocket along the outer edges of the protector.
The Zagg glass was stuck to the screen very well when I removed it. The outer air pocket never did grow in size, was very narrow, just annoyed me to look at when the screen was off.
Overall the Zagg was a good option, but maybe not for those like me that value good looks as highly as I do.
The DMax Armor glass I tried was so thin, it might be an option for the dual screen case. DMax could have been 0.15mm thick possibly. Really similar to the Baseus ultra thin glass.
It's very fragile stuff as noted above, but again DMax might be as thick as double overlapped film protectors.
For those looking at a good protector here is the link for what I am using. Installs with ease, no bubbles and halos.
