I tried to root my HTC One a while back when I got it on contract on Three mobile but failed to so it successfully. In doing so I managed to get the Super SU but it did not work properly. My phone then was labelled ***Tampered*** ***Unlocked***.
A few months after that I tried to get it back to the way it was before, ie when I first got it. I had a problem finding the custom RUU or something? I really don't know how Android phones work and should not have tried rooting it in the first place. I then somehow got it to say ***Tampered*** ***Relocked***.
I gave up trying to do anything as this whole process is very confusing to fix and perhaps easier guides would come along one day. I am now writing this thread as my phone cannot connect to the Three network , as in, there is a sim card but can't get a phone signal or 3G/4G signal. I can't make any calls or connect to the internet unless using wifi. I have tried getting a replacement sim but it does not make the phone work (the sim is not faulty as I have tried using it on another phone). I have tried hard resetting my phone but it does not work presumably because it is still rooted and always loads the bootloader (I think that's what it's called?) whenever I try to reset, or update software for that matter. I have tried all the options in Settings -> Mobile Network Settings multiple times as well as all the options in *#*#4636#*#*
So my question is this:
How can I get my phone signal back? OR How can I unroot my HTC One S-On on the Three UK network in words a moron like me can understand?
OR both haha.
Thank you so much in advance for reading this and trying to help me, I'm really desperate to get my phone working properly again.

Solution
I found a fix by the way, now my phone is factory locked and the signal is back up and running. Super SU has been removed and the software has also updated to the newest version as up to 12th July 2015.

Well anyway your best bet would be to go to your provider's store and get them to contact HTC to arrange a repair. That's the only way, as you can see nobody helped me.

Ok so i had a problem about a month ago that originally got resolved and everything was working perfectly. After some weird interactions with my PC I now have no baseband or IMEI. I have tried reinstalling the ROM that was working but no luck. Instead i just go stuck in a boot loop. If i let it sit for a while i can get it set up via Wi-Fi but it just doesnt work how its supposed to and fails to get a signal from the cell tower

It was a different issue basically last time i uninstalled the OS and had no files on the sd card and i just needed a USB-OTG cable. I believe it had something to do with drivers for the phone. I dont know what it has to do in relation to it but I can confirm that I did nothing to influence the change.
I have full root and can boot the phone up fine but its just the baseband and iemi that are missing however they do show up in the getvar. Im not sure if i should be putting my device on S-OFF and doing an RUU?

I don't think that will fix it. There have been a few threads with the same issue - something to do with a corrupt partition if I remember. Hopefully our resident gurus @alray or @nkk71 might be able to help you out.

Just if i understand correctly, baseband, IMEI etc show up just fine in fastboot getvar all, but in any booted ROM, if you go to "Settings -> About -> Software information -> More" does baseband show up correctly?
and "Settings -> About -> Phone identity" shows correct IMEI, IMSI?
If it's saying:
Baseband version - unknown
IMEI - Unknown
IMWI SV - Unknown
Imsi - unavailable
Then I hate to be the bearer of bad news , but it's a hardware problem,
and I haven't seen anyone able to fix it through software (i've personally tried with one user: RUUs, factory resets, even manually overwriting the modem partitions with good ones => no result)
Here's another guy who had the same problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2696688
(so far i've seen like 3 or 4 incidents)
Sorry buddy
That would be a borked EFS partition (which is individual for each handset so can't be taken from another phone) if it doesn't show them in Settings - nothing can be done other than sending to HTC

Yeah that sucks but I think I still might be in my year of warranty. In which case I noticed that you wrote the returning to stock guide. Would it be an idea to return it to stock or at least to a ROM that doesnt have tampered or unlocked and just claiming it under warranty.

yeah, but in order to return to stock (to set LOCKED not relocked), you need to be s-off... i don't know how long your ROM is stable (before rebooting itself) to be able to achieve S-Off

Thanks for all the help buddy. I'll check back later when the website comes back up
EDIT: I had a long look at the guide post and came up with these 2 downloads. Correct me if im wrong.
First I would need to install this: http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu-zip-m7_google-edition_4-4_3-58-1700-5-zip/ but have to change my CID to one of those listed first.
Then after changing my CID back to the original I would flash this nandroid backup to CWM http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/m7-cwm-nandroid-backup-cid-htc__039-1-29-980-2-2013-05-11-zip/
Then I should find the closest stock recovery to 3.63.980.2 and finally use guru reset to relock the bootloader
Thanks in advance

Hello everybody, hope everyone is having a better day than I am. I will try to keep this short but I am more than happy to provide more details as they are needed.
I picked up a replacement HTC One (ATT) after a warranty claim for a bad speaker and I immediately rooted it. After rooting the phone and before flashing a custom rom it started rebooting itself every couple of minutes. I went ahead and flashed a custom rom (many to be honest) and the phone booted up just fine, however, the phone would not recognize the sim card. I tried the sim card in a different phone and it worked fine. Then, with the sim card replaced, all of a sudden the phone worked for about 30 minutes. After that it started rebooting itself at will every couple of minutes. I decided that i must have flashed a bad file or something so i decided to go back to stock with RUU.exe. I locked the bootloader and ran the .exe from my laptop (windows 7) Now my phone i "relocked" and the RUU flashed a recovery that I can not get into. My boot screen now reads this
***relocked***
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT-1.55.0000
RADIO-4A.19.3263.13
OpenDSP-v31.120.274.0617
OS-3.17.502.3
eMMC-boot 2048MB
(date and time)
this is the RUU.exe I loaded
RUU M7 UL JB43 SENSE50 MR Cingular US 3.17.502.3 Radio 4A.19.3263.13 10.38j.1157.04 Release 334235 Signed 2 - HTC1Guru
Now when I start my phone it loads to the ATT screen with the globe, sometimes plays the chim, and then goes to a white screen with the green HTC. after about a minute it reboots and loads to the exact same spot. It will do this until I enter the bootloader and power it down
I don't know what to do anymore as I have read about a thousand threads and I am getting confused on what the next step should be. I would greatly appreciate a point in the right direction.
Although the POS phone I am using with a modified sim card holder is pretty awesome
Thanks in advance
Get ATT to replace to it again?
there is more back story that I did not go into and i don't know if I can get it replaced again.
Now when I turn on the phone it loads to the initial start up screen where it ask to set up my account and set up wifi. but agian after a minute or so it just reboots and loads to about the same spot and then restarts.
I still think this is fixable
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks
What software version are you on now? I'm not near a computer but my first thought is that because you are s-on, you can not run an RUU that is older than your current version. So if you are on KitKat now, you can't run a Jelly bean 4.3 ruu.
You would need to be s-off in order to do that.

to tell you the truth I don't know anymore because i have tried to load so many different things, how can I tell for sure?
another question...Now that I have a relocked bootloader can I try to rerun the RUU.exe file? I will check my getvar this evening to find the correct RUU but just don't know if this will work with a locked bootloader and no recovery.

Sure will work as long as RUU is same level as your phone
I would try re-running the RUU. Sometimes they don't do everything correctly. But done right, it should wipe your phone of any custom software and take you back to clean stock.
Finally made it back home I wanted to post my getvar all so please tell me if you see something bad

What about factory reset from bootloader?
42 22435958
Well I tried to RUU.exe again and now the phone will load to the setup. I went through that, but it is not recognizing my sim card. I can sign on to wifi which works and I can navigate the homescreens. after about 2 minutes the phone reboots itself and the whole cycle happens again. i tried to do a software update but with out the sim card being recognized it says Network not available. the signal bar has an "X" and it does not recognize when I try to remove the sim card to reposition it.
should I try a different RUU.exe file? Thanks for all the help, I think we are getting close. One thing I think is strange is when I ran getvar all, it has a strange line I noted it below. Anybody know what this means?

really, thats it? No mas htc one for me?
So am I the proud owner of a BRICK?
This was my first time messing with my phones ROM, I am completely new to this, and I bricked my phone. Here is what happened.
I rooted my phone using the guide from htconeroot.com
Everything worked fine.
Then I followed a guide from htconeroot to install android 4.4 kitkat ROM
That is when my phone got stuck in bootloader. I could run recovery with clockworkmod but when i went to the back up file in my sdcard the folder was empty. I tried factory reset and erasing cache to no avail. I finally found a guide by qbking77 called "how to unroot/unbrick the htc one to stock" and have been attempting various RUU versions trying to get it to take. I always get ERROR 155 The ROM Update Utility cannot update your Android phone. After running the RUU I can no longer run recovery with clockworkmod.
I have spent all weekend trying to educate myself and get this fixed but I am lost.

Thank you in advance for any advice.
Well the first thing I noticed is you have an m7 wls, this is the spirint version of the HTC one, completely different to the normal version, so stop flashing things before you really do brick your phone, if you can get into the bootloader then your not bricked, yet, if you continue to try and flash wrong things you stand a high chance of messing up your blocks and partitions. Get yourself over to the m7 spirint forums for help.from here, just search for it above in the find your device box.

Your welcome, not a different service provider, a different phone, it's not a gsm phone.
Hi Guys,
I have been reading around the forum but cant seem to find the answer to my problem. Or the suggestions are going over my head, so hope you can help.
I have a stock htc one m7 that is unrooted but it is sim unlocked. Went to bed with the phone working and then woke up with it stuck on the htc boot screen.
Things I have tried:
- get into HBOOT (which i can), then try recovery. This just reboots the phone to the white htc screen or screen just goes off.
- try and hard reset from hboot, but this does the same and either turns the screen black or reboots.
Both times i have left the phone for a while to see if it is up to anything but nothing happens.
I read about clearing the cache, but I could not get my head around the guides I read, so is there an idiots guide (I usually pretty good with tech stuff but not done much to do with phones etc)
Or any other suggestions. I use my phone for work so would be nice to get it working again without wiping it but most of the stuff should be back up anyway.
Thanks
Tom
From what I have tried I guess I should now try and flash the RRU?
The phone is on UKs EE network, as it is not rooted do I need to flash it with their branded rom or not? If so where can I get that from.
Thanks

Yep that's what we wanted, unfortunately there's no ruu for your phone
If you've got warranty on the device I would send it in for repair.
If you don't have warranty you gonna need to unlock the bootloader to do anything with it. If your gonna do it go here www.htcdev.com register an account and go to the Unlock My Bootloader section of the site and follow the instructions to unlock :good:
Ok. I will do that.
So once the bootloader is unlocked, what is my solution? installing a different Ruu? Or installing a different Rom (or are they the same thing)
Thanks
Tom

Once your Unlocked you can flash a Custom or Unbranded Stock Rom. To be able to use RUU's you will need to go s-off. As your on hboot 1.57 the only way to s-off is Sunshine app. But this costs $25 to use. So I would just go with flashing a Custom Recovery and ROM for the time being. :good:
Unlocking the bootloader void warranty. If you have none, then proceed. In my opinion, your phone has suffered hardware failure and will not be recoverable, hence warranty.
Thanks
Thanks for the help guys. Turns out its still under warranty which is good news. I know with other custom roms you can use adb to retrive info off the device.
Any chance I can do the same, as most of the stuff is backed up except some photos ( last couple of months worth).
If not Ill get over it but just in case.
Thanks for your help so far.

So damn tired of this bull. Waited for this phone from China for 3 weeks (trusted seller). Now for the past week that Ive had it, its been nothing more than a damn annoyance because I would constantly switch out the sim to my old phone because nobody can reach me do to my signal either not working right off the bad or it works with literally full bars and H+ data then DROPS completely and I have no service. My APN is set to Simple's, but I have also tried Tmobile with same results. Tried all kinds of different preferred networks with no success.
Things I have noticed:
Right now I am at home and when I search for network operators, some times it cant even find Simple or when it does and I try to register it says that selected network is unavailable.
Yesterday at one point I had FULL BARS with H+, then after traveling for about 15 minutes on a car, it dropped and once again I had to switch out my SIM to my older HTC One m7.
Speaking of my older M7, it is a M7 GPE edition and it never had such issues, I even downloaded the same old radio GPE phone had on this new M7 GSM and its still not working.
I have tried different roms and different firmware with no success and Im about f**king done with this phone. I waited 3 weeks for it to get here and at this point Im about to just send it back and get my money and never order from China again.

You should send it back, phones from China are absolute crap. One of my friend bought a m7 from a trusted China seller, condition was supposed to be new. After 2 weeks of use the front mic went south. He ordered a new mic and when replacing it we found a lot of evidences that it was a (badly) refurbished phone. Once the mic was repaired the battery died a month later (was good from 100% to 80 then it was shutting down. Average screen on time: 15 minutes... ). We broke a flat cable connector when replacing the battery and the phone went directly to a garbage can. 200$ for 6 weeks...
