Look for the guide for using flashtool on the page from @flash-
There are great flashtool guides on xda too. Just read them
2nd
Yeah, that's possible too!
To do so, you need to
- Root your phone with Towelroot
- Backup your TA partition
- Unlock your bootloader
- Install a recovery for Stock Rom
- Flash a Rom. I always take Cyanogenmod 12.1 by Mrcl1450 and AdrianDC. You find it in
XperiaSP/Original Android Development
There are other great Roms on
XperiaSP/Original Android Development
and
XperiaSP/Android Development
Just take what you like or try different roms.
Look in
XperiaSP/General/Xperia SP Lollipop Hub
There are great Rom reviews.
You can find guides to all these things here on XDA. Please read these guides. Then you can have Android 5.1.1

Yeah, you can root your phone with Towelroot. The word to google is debloat.
Sorry if I sound rude, but someone has to tell you:
Nobody in here will help you googling a tutorial how to flash a ftf file.
OK, one last time...
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=how+to+flash+ftf+xperia+SP+flashtool
As far as I understand it, XDA is a community of people who want to mod their phones. Themselves. This includes that you read before you ask. Oh you didn't find the answer you were looking for on Page 1? Google again with similar keywords.
Let's think about the number of users who have already used flashtool. Millions! How many of them were noobs in the beginning? Millions!
Can you imagine how often your questions have already been asked? I can't...
There are hundreds of tutorials out there for each and every step of whatever related to mod a phone.
Go and read them! And if something goes wrong, there are thousands of tutorials how to get your phone back to life. I've never heard a phone causing a thermonucleal war because a beginner experimented with it.
Again, sorry for the rudeness of my message, but as you OBVIOUSLY didn't read the "READ BEFORE POST" message of the moderators, I had to tell it to you. That way you won't wonder why noone answers your questions.

OK, I gotta clear up a few things:
Case A:
You want to Update your current old Sony rom to the latest Sony rom.
- Get Flashtool, get your Firmware from Xperifirm.
- Flash it
Yeah, it's that easy
Case B:
You want to have a newer Android that has not been made by Sony. E.g. you want Android 5.1.1 Cyanogenmod. That's what we call "Custom Rom"!
- Root your phone with Towelroot
- Backup your TA partition
- Unlock your bootloader
- Install a recovery for Stock Rom
- Flash a Rom. E.g. Android 5.1.1 Cyanogenmod
These two things are totally diffetent things!
What could have caused the misunderstanding is that you CAN root your phone in Case A. But you don't have to. You CAN add a Recovery Mode in Case A, but you don't have to.
IF you want a Recovery, take Philz Recovery for Xperia SP.

I think downloading the ftf isn't a problem anymore.
Getting Flashtool installed shouldn't be a problem too. The drivers for your device are installed on your PC, right?

Hi,
I have a Xperia T with bootloader unlocked (which removes warranty) and a custom rom, but I want to lock the bootloader again and go back to the stock ROM. I don't know which ROM it is because my friend did it all for me, but he is not my friend anymore and doesn't want to help me with my phone. I dont want the custom rom because i dont see any use to it and some things dont work like WhatsApp and the camera.
So my questions are: Can i go back to stock ROM, if so how?
Can i Re-lock the bootloader so my warranty will be back. Or at least a way to hide that i have had a custom rom?
Thanks in advance !!!

Then you got to be a bit more careful... :/ Did your freind not tell you that you would loose warranty?\
Just flash greg bradleys rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2007736
Read the instructions for unlocked bootloader.. flash probs the advanced stock kernel... then his rom! it seems to be based off stock but a bit better! as i dont know if yo ucan go back to official stock sony or not sorry i dont even have the T yet im jsut basing off my experince from the x10
Flash kernel boot into cwm (pressing volume down repeatedly i think)
Flash the rom and reboot!
I take no resposibilty..

No he told me i could remove it. Also, do you lose warranty for physical damage? Like i have a case on my T but on the corners the matte is coming off a little? I dont know why i care for it very well!
I can't unlock my bootloader, sadly
Unfortunately, a lot of people are complaining about the matte finish peeling off. I for one have it on the lower left corner, and I really baby the phone. I don't even put it on hard surfaces but usually on a school workbook.
Anyway, you can find a lot of information in the following threads:

I dont know how you can remove it... i dont think theres a way to relock bootloader as of now.. i could be worng though! Maybe check out s1tool or osmething google it! And no that issue has been reported its not your fault... if you cna get your bl relocked you can send it back to them for that damage \
Try this to relock bootloader.. but read the whole thread as idk what it could do to your device...

Again i take absolutley no repsobility here!

Search for flashtool version 0.9.9.0 and download.
Download .ftf file of the firmware you want to flash and place it in flashtool firmware folder.
Start flashtool.exe and follow instructions. Leave all boxes ticked (wipe dalvik, user data, baseband etc)

You can open multiple question threads in Q&A section but if all your questions pertain to, in this case, flashing a ROM, a single thread should do.
Also, keep in mind that many of the members of this forum will not answer simple generic inquiries. It is up to you to search the forum to find the answers, if possible.

Did I help? please press thanks button
Okay im new and im looking around to find out how to flash a new rom. So i see the thing is i need
- rom manager
- flash clockworkmod recovery.
- press the button to install new rom
**( of course we are supposed to press the button to backup first. whatever i dont need backup if i have everything on dropbox and netqin sync and from there i can have everything i want at any other phone too. i dont care for settings , they are a matter of 10 minutes to download and setup the apps ).
So i try this thing.
1) I go root my phone and i get the first error. SystemBackupTest fails to run. yes i have done it properly according to the guide.
Ok whatever i think. maybe the guide is too old and jelly bean 4.1.2 20b has issues with that apk. i search around and i find the other way to root my phone. i download this file : http://www11.zippyshare.com/v/50635135/file.html, i go into recovery mode and i press root. success! im rooted.
2) since im new i test it out. i start installing whatever i find in google play and start tweaking things ) then i return it back to stock and do other tweaks. now i search for new rom. i read guides here about several rom. i now try it.
i install rom manager , i follow the guide and get error boot image signature. ok i press vol down and power button and restart. i check around here a bit about this error. i found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2241754. so i see that i have to unlock the bootloader. so i find this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2190326. i follow the guide and i fail because i get a message that unlock is denied. searching around i find another thread that sais ROOT MANY ANDROID. oke im confused. i cant find a proper guide around. can we make it a little easier ? can we delete the oldest threads-roots- .. whatever and keep the new ? can we clean up or sort things up please ? the older members of course are pro to all this but the newer ones we dont understand anything. we need one week only to understand where we have to click next......
So for me and any other new guy later on, what do we have to do ? where is a working guide to root the lg optimus 4x v20b and if there is not , then where is a proper guide to unlock the bootloader ? thanks............
Also here ... it sais many many wierd things. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35812268
someone sais where is made from. wt ?? the root guide naver said this is actually for japan, or this is for germany or whatever. every search i do i get to read "new" things scattered around. sort things around. delete old useless threads that get nowhere or pin at start the new ones working on the new firmware. am i wrong ?

You can't flash a rom when the bootloader is locked, can you? That would be a surprising fact for me... Guess you did unlock it but didn't know about it

to flash a rom.. yes..
what kind of rom ? is it stock rom ? or custom rom..
stock rom flashed using different tools than custom rom..
to flash custom rom, you need to flash custom recovery first..
to flash custom recovery, you have to unlock the bootloader first...
that's the basic knowledge

vanir rom. cant be more custom xD i pressed: 3845#*880# which is supposed to check bootloader status and gave me the message: error connection or mmi code is not valid.
Now im thinking if i can flash werewolf kernel in use with vanir rom. is it possible or the kernel has to go with specific roms ?
The command you used only works on LG stock roms.
You can use werewolf kernel but you have to use cm10.2 version

Hi !
I have an Xperia V with ICS 4.0.4 , the firmware is 9.0.D.0.484
And I don't know how to Root it, I've seen a way flashing TRIMMED-LT25i-SOL21_9.0.F.0.195.ftf but I tried and , first it's too hard, and I was stuck to the "ADB SHELL" step (command lines are useless, it do nothing).
So is there an easiest way (we are in 2014) to root an ICS LT25i
Please Help me ...

That method is easy. It even has numbered steps to follow, kind of like the ones they give children in kindergartens... If you had a problem with it, it would have been better to post it and ask for a solution to that; or google it... we are in 2014.
On a side note, if you update to FW: 9.1.A.1.140/142, or FW: 9.1.A.1.145, you might be able to use Doomlords Rooting Kit V17.

Yes of course if you follows it step by step its easy, but it's not really my point, when an abd shell does not do what you want you're stuck..
And yes i've seen that JB firmware arre easy to root but I came from JB and want to stay with ICS for better peformances
Now, I'm trying another ICS firmware for the V (LT25i_9.0.1.D.0.10_Nordic.ftf) because it sounds really easy to root
I'll post the results here , it could help many people
Thank you !

You could also root on JB and flash a rooted stock ICS rom afterwards.

Yeah, but my point was, instead of just giving up, you could try figuring out why you're stuck with an "adb shell" that "does not do what you want"... and when finding what was holding you back, you could have posted the answers here for others to find. For instance, I know that if you don't enable USB debugging, adb won't work. I know this because I googled it, because either it's in the documentation, or someone else figured it out and posted it online...
Hi everybody
So I finally flash 9.0.1.D.0.10 kernel (ICS 4.0.4) , It's easiest to root it, with the TWRP Kernel !!
Thank you

Sorry my "technical" knowledge is limited
ROM FILES AND LINKS UPDATED !!
FTF AND FLASHABLE.ZIP LINKS NOW ARE LIVE AGAIN WITH A ROM UPDATE, VERSION IS NOW 23.5.A.1.291 CUSTOMIZED IT (I still use this rom in my Z2 !)
---------------------------------------------------
Introduction
Since I did it, and it seems to work fine on my phone, I decided to publish “my” first ROM. I want to emphasize that I'm not a developer (not any more, too many years away from coding ), but only somebody with “some computer knowledge”. So I will not be responsible of any possible damage or loss of data that the use of this rom may cause… and always remember to backup your phone first !!
The ROM is the result of a lot of “searching and reading” of the following (and other…) threads here on XDA. Thanks to all the authors !!
[INFO] ALL You Need To Know About Owning A Xperia Z2 - Thread by Envious_Data: I started from here, understanding how to backup my TA in order to be able to restore original configuration and warranty, to root the phone, to unlock it and install bootloader, etc.
[4.4.4][LB] Create ROOTED update package from stock FTF (Windows) - Thread by norti: A detailed guide on how to build a 4.4.4 pre-rooted ROM and install it on the phone
[TOOL] PRFCreator - easily create pre-rooted firmwares - Thread by zxz0O0: Tool to build the pre-rooted firmware (flashable.zip)
[TOOL] XperiFirm ~ Xperia Firmware Downloader & Checker [v3.1] - Thread by IaguCool: The tool I used to downolad the original firmwares
Different threads and other sites for understanding the use of Flashtool, on how to flash, how to build FTF files from original firmwares, etc. You can find the tool here. Some “searching” on XDA or Google will help !
[4.4.4][Stock][Noise Cancelling Works] [Fully Pre-Rooted] by shockss and [stock][locked-unlocked][odex-deodex][root][dual-recovery] 4.4.4 | 23.0.1.a.0.167 by niaboc79: two similar works
... etc !
ROM Files
The ROM is totally stock/untouched, I only added pre-root and dual recovery.
Original/stock firmware: D6503 23.5.A.1.291 CUSTOMIZED IT (Italy) - downloaded with XperiFirm, FTF built with Flashtool – You can find the FTF file here.
Flashable.zip: built with PRFCreator ver. 0.5 - You can find the .ZIP file here.
Included (in flashable.zip): Root “UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.40.zip” - Dual Recovery “Z2-lockeddualrecovery2.7.157-BETA.flashable.zip”
So, I repeat it to to be perfectly clear, the only things I did where to download the firmware, decrypt it, build the FTF file and add pre-root and dual recovery with PRFCreator. Nothing more !
Installation
Pre-requisite: To be able to install a 4.4.4 pre-rooted firmware, as the first step of the process is to flash “flashable.zip” with TWRP, you must start from a rooted version of Android 4.4.2 with dual recovery already installed. In the suggested threads you will find the necessary infos to start from.
To install the ROM (or to build it by yourself, in case you want !) you have to follow the suggested procedure described in the [4.4.4][LB] Create ROOTED update package from stock FTF (Windows) thread by norti that I thank again (flash first the flashable.zip file, built as suggested in the norti thread, and then the FTF file with Flashtool, without rebooting and with the suggested configuration, to complete the installation...) !
Some more details: before rooting the phone (while in 4.4.2) I unlocked the bootloader (used the Sony code method ) and then flashed the prerooted 4.4.4 version that works fine even if the Norti thread says that the method is for locked bootloader.
Enjoy another rooted version of Android 6.0.1 !
Reserved for future use... !
So this is completely stock?

Yes, absolutely stock, if you flash only the full FTF file (without exclusions) you will have an untouched original TIM IT branded installation.

... I am not sure I can help you, I did not have the problem you are facing, on my phone the rom still works fine.
If you are totally stuck... maybe you could flash a full stock FTF file with Flashtool and start over again... but I am afraid that by doing this you will loose root...
Anyway I will try to find my "original build files", but I have changed PC and must search in backups... not sure I will succeed... or, if I find the time, to rebuild the flashable.zip from scratch...

My xperia z c6603 can't upgrade from 4.2 to 4.3 please help me,,!!
first wrong selection, second than easy search on google for an custom rom which has a newer version or search for an factory image or an stock rom and than install it I think if you would try google you will also find a great instruction for you phone. But I think it is for you the easiest way to use the tool from sony which you can download anywhere on there website (sorry I don´t know where, I just know sony had made some thing like that) and with this tool you can easily update you phone if you don´t find any updates...But maybe sony don´t made any update :/ I hope I could help :/

why update to 4.3 when you have 5.1 official lollipop. Anyway if you want to install 4.3 download the right firmware (.ftf) and flash it with FlashTool, but remember that this flashing will delete all your data.
