Yeah, I know we are idiots. All of our releases have been unstable, full of bugs and missing nearly every feature one could wish for. Please excuse us, but we really can't do any better. The fact that all ROMs that are not based off RUUs are CyanogenMod rip-offs should clearly tell you that we just can't get anything right at all.

Very MIUI like.. Looks pretty much like my new Desire... Great job seeing similar running on the Legend..

You guys don't pay attention to the experimental thread do you? Seriously, over 160 attempts at a nightly build and still nothing that performs up to par with ogo2's 2.3.3 Sense UI ROM. Sure his is lacking WiFi AP functionality, but I can live with that.
I love how you call everyone elses' ROM a rip-off of a CM ROM. Get a life guys, no one would attempt to use your builds unless said person was extremely lazy.

Damn.. Where have you lived your life? 2 versions of stable ROMS is what we have.. original from HTC is 1 - CM is 2.. All roms worth mention is variations of one of those.. (for Legend that is)

I know I'm wasting my time here and I really don't care anyway.
Still I think I have to clarify that I'm not talking about people using some "builds". I'm talking about the source code.
If you want to build a ROM for the Legend (and nearly every other device out there) you've got two choices: Push some files from official releases (RUUs) around and zip them, or compile from source.
As a matter of fact there's no project out there that releases working source code (for anything but Google's official devices) except for CyanogenMod.
Video encoding or decoding? msm* support? Backported code for ancient libcamera, libril and framework support for said ancient libraries? GPS backport or implementation? Kernel backports for Gingerbread? Yeah, good luck finding that somewhere else (no, I don't mean the CAF repositories where we are copying from and giving credit of course).

"Get a life"? Come on, don't be ridiculous.
MD5-sums can be quite revealing by the way. Or boot messages (like "Welcome to CyanogeMod" in MIUI). Some people were even charging for shady rip-offs – that's why the CM team ultimately decided to close down development and switch to "release when it's done".

Sorry, but you didn't understand the concept of a nightly build? There are no "attempts at a nightly build" and they are not even meant for users. Nightly builds are there to see if current code in the repositories still compiles. Nothing else.

Unfortunately not only for the Legend but for most other devices too.
Android was said to be open but in fact it's just proprietary crap again. No developer wants to spend months doing the work of forty CM devs, so they either join CM – or sometimes steal their work declaring it as their own – or use (or combine) binaries from official releases.

If you didn't care, you would be in other developers threads attacking their attempts at making something that just may work better than what you're pushing out.
Face the facts; People want more choices other than CM. I am willing to admit that CM 6.1 was a damn good ROM when it came out, but I can't for life of me figure out why you guys can't live up to the same expectations with CM7.
I have been testing the NewSense 1.0 RC's (HTC Salsa ROM) for some time, and I as I said; Without the lack of AP support, it works well and does not have the crash prone problems that I have seen with 7.0.3, and 7.1 RC1.

Oh Sorry.. Didn't know much of other devices.. Recently bought the Desire and currently using MIUI. Must admit that I believed the MIUI to be a completely rewrite of the Android framework..

You can thanks for that to HTC, because i haven't written a single line of code in NewSense. Only some crappy hacks.
Really, our community is too small and we have a lack of devs, but that's not all. HTC provide to us just ****ty sources. It just sucks!

Btw: this rom here is based on cm7...

I still think Blayo's rom's are the best for Legend!
Been using them for quite a while and I never have had any complain!

Their earlier releases certainly used CM sources with modified framework and apps. I don't know what they are doing now – but as they don't release their sources I can accuse them of using modified CM source code as much as I want without ever being able to prove it so I refrain from doing that.
If you are interested, the UltimateDroid soap opera is a good read by the way.

I'd be happy if they provided the real sources for the binaries they are releasing but as a matter of fact HTC continuously violates the GPL and we can't do anything about that.

Where exactly did I attack emiliano7's work? I'm actually very glad that someone is developing for the Legend and I never stated anything else.
You obviously on the other hand couldn't resist showing your arrogant attitude by addressing the CM team in this thread making false accusations. You can't take a discussion off-topic and then blame others for taking the same train.

Instead of making vague accusations you could have filed bug reports a long time ago. CM is a community project and nothing without its community.
It sometimes still makes me sad that for some people whining doesn't seem to be a problem but as soon as it comes to writing a good bug report they come up with various excuses.

HTC Tattoo and CM9?

So CM7 was a stellar success for our tiny lil device called Tattoo.
Now that CM7 is over, we'll are eagerly waiting for CM9. I posted this thread to know if Tattoo is going to be supported in the CM9 builds. If anyone of you has an idea of what is going on, you can reply here. Also you can use this thread for dev purposes.
Others here, you can list out what features you want to see on out Tattoos running CM9. This can come of great help to the devs until the actual thread comes up.
So when many devices have got early CM9 builds, why not us? arco68 and KalimochoAz, you there?

The CyanogenMod team already announced that one phone which will not get the upgrade is the Motorola Droid because of it's outdated hardware. You know, Droid is really similar to Tattoo specwise. Same CPU specs, same RAM amount, same internal memory.....
You draw the conclusions.

Our device is MUCH less-powerful than the QSD8250, which is a 1.0-1.2GHz CPU and Adreno 200 GPU System-on-a-Chip.

if that is true, wildfire wont get it too.

My guess it it will run. But should be optimized heavily for a smooth experience.

I'm afraid the low resolution will be the show stopper there.

Maybe possible but it will be light version of ICS a few of the ingredients may be removed.
The screen is 2.8" n this is maybe the drawback...

I have installed ICS on G1. Its horrible ROM, Very Laggy and still needs lot of development for smoother experience. They haven't fixed the rotation problems yet. It looks to me Tatto0 will have a hard time with CM 9 because of its lower quality hardwares.

Is it just me, or does the Sprint HTC One seem to be completely overlooked by ROM developers? TWRP for Sprint HTC One is still only 2.6.3.0 despite 2.6.3.3 and 2.6.3.4 being out for other phones for months. Nearly every ROM I have looked at seems to support every HTC One variant except for Sprint. If you want Sprint support, you have to use an older version. The latest CWM for m7spr does support KitKat, and I have been able to install CM11 nightly, but this is extremely buggy, and every nightly build seems to introduce as many new problems as it solves. Is there any stable KitKat ROM that doesn't suck and supports Sprint? Is there a reason developers hate Sprint users? Please someone tell me the answer to this.

Well I'm on the official cm11 from 1/3 and its running perfectly now for me except the browser once l toggled the data to CDMA/lte but that's it. Ecliptic seems to run as good as any other 5.5 on 4.4 Sense in my experience with it. I only use Sense a little because since the 4.3 ota the WiFi doesn't upload data at all and I use that way too much to tolerate that absence but the devs overlook it. Oh well cm it is until its fixed by Sprint.

No offense but if you bothered to do a simple Google search, you'd find that an official 4.4 OTA for sprint is not yet released which is why there is a lack of stable 4.4 roms...

Agree with the need to do a search before complaining about the devs sucking around here (which is effectively what was said, imho).
I have to dissent from the 'no stable kitkit' ROMs, though. For instance, EclipicONE [4.4] is quite stable -- it is, after all, based on InsertCoin and I can't imagine anyone suggesting @baadnewz creates anything other than extremely stable ROMs when he says they're good to go, and @hawknest is clearly no slouch either. I've used EclipticONE since the final test versions for my day to day -- no problems at all and fact it's outperforming my 4.3 ROMs (generally use ViperONE or InsertCoin) handily in battery, speed (I clocked it up to the 1.7 our processor is supposed to be, but even the default 1.1GHz top end runs totally smoothly) and general operations.
Not on a high horse here -- just saying ... I find we do in fact have stable kitkat based roms.

Eliptic is super stable. It can't get better than this. Plus it has s2w and s2s

Without tooting my own horn(cuz it ain't me who designs this ROM, I just build it), BS 4.4.205 is one of the best KK custom ROMs around, and I check. It does not have a completely bug-free experience, but for the scale of what is offered in options versus what doesn't work properly, you can't do much better anywhere. Most of the other custom ROMs are still implementing KK. As far as stock or stock-based, the earlier comments are all true. I do feel as though development here has stalled, and in general, Sprint is the ugly stepchild of the carrier system, based on how the phone is designed to run(totally different than any other carrier). Most of the truly gifted and knowledgeable devs have already moved on to the next big thing, which unfortunately, is the name of the game around here. But, I love my m7spr, and although I am not a coding guru, I plan to stick around for a while and try to get more cool ROM choices out there.

I'm getting really annoyed with these 'did you search first, stupid?' posts. Get off yourself. Yeah, there's a lot of information out there, but most of it's junk/spam, obsolete or completely irrelevant. There's so much crap info out there. If someone is unsure enough about something to get to the point of asking a question to get an answer, and you know the answer, just answer it.
Google 'sprint kit kat htc one'. Kind of interesting sure, but absolutely none of that is useful information esp in helping TV4FUN get an answer. Blogspot opinions, link farms copying things over and over, unrelated sprint and Moto(?!) info and random HTC ad crap, etc.
Similar experience to TV4FUN.. IMO there are no daily drivers for KK yet, probably not until Sprint KK and source is released. Much thanks to the devs who are working hard to get there though.

I'm confused about this because little by little we are getting more and more roms for this phone more than when I first got here. A lot of the aosp issue we have the other variants of the m7 have as well and a lot are Google based issues, one reason the devs are having issues is that kit kat has changed a lot even cyanogen him self has said so.
Be patient and remember no one here gets paid for this, they do it out of love for Android and a little respect I believe is deserved.
Edit: Mods should have closed this a while ago because it kills moral.

Ecliptic is good enough for a daily driver. In my opinion so are the nocturnal roms. I have never tried beanstalk so I cannot speak to that. But I think there are plenty of options out there. I guess it just boils down to how picky you are.

I would like to know what about ecliptic kk is not stable? just my 2 cents but most these issues people complain about are self induced due to lack of research or just nit picky! Come to think of it there isn't a single sense rom atleast that I have tried that isn't damn near perfect. I for one am feel very fortunate to be a part of the sprint m7 community

EXACTLY!! And actually I think that with all these batt drain and SIM card issues the ota has presented. One could argue that the custom software here is better than the official versions!

OP you can go to Tmo now they will pay your ETF, get a gsm One if you need kit kat so bad

What ROM would you like to see/use on your L90?

Alright, I'll try to keep this short and simple. I have been developing for various devices over the last 2 years (Galaxy Captivate, Galaxy S2, Nexus 4, Kindle Fire Lineup, etc) The Nexus 4 was my main phone, up until recently. I dropped the phone getting out of the car one night, and now the touch screen is completely unresponsive. So I decided to grab a cheap replacement for the time being, while I order a new screen for the N4. I see some devs have gotten several custom ROMs running for this device, awesome job! When I got this phone, I had no idea it would be developer friendly, what a surprise. This lead me to the decision to start compiling something for the L90. What I want to know from everyone here, is what ROM would you like to see on your device? I've gathered up several choices, so I'd like to start a little poll.
My intentions are to either compile something from source, and frequently update it here for everyone. Or to fork over CM, and customize it myself (via cherry-picks, custom wallpapers, optimized toolchains, performance enhancements, etc) However these builds would be less frequent, unless some people were willing to contribute. If so, then feel free to let me know! Also, please ask as many questions, or make as many suggestions as you want. I'm trying to get my post count up lol. All the development I've done prior to this, has been mainly released on Google+. I figured I would target a larger audience here for now though, until I can create a community specifically for the L90 on G+. I'd greatly appreciate any and all feedback!

Great to see such motivated will. What I'd like to see on L90 is completely stable LP rom, doesn't really matter which one, but out of two I had chance to use - which is CM and Ressurection Remix - I'd choose RR. Dunno if devs of roms such as AOKP and billions of others are making/are planning to make LP versions though

agreed, it would be nice to see a fully functioning ROM whether it be kitkat or lollipop. When i say stable i mean video playback and recording working camera quality back to normal (on all roms their is a lack or clarity,crisp,and focus) and good memory management. If you can get those working i don't care what kind of rom is is

What a nice feeling not having D415 thus those problems...
Also, I think it is impossible to get stock LG camera libs to get to work on custom roms, or - at best - it would have take a hell of time. So I guess quality will stay like this forever...

I appreciate all the feedback so far! I'm an android enthusiast for sure. Ever since I used my first custom ROM, which was CM 7 if I'm not mistaking, I fell in love. From there, I spoke with a few developers I had met, and started learning everything about compiling ROMs. They were a huge help, and they also pointed me to some great guides online. After lots of trial and error, I was able to get my first source built ROM booted up, and running. From there on out, I was hooked lol. With that being said, I'd love to build some new custom ROMs for all the L90 users here. Also I have a few questions before I start the process, so if any L90 dev's see this, send me a PM or something. Just curious about a few things, such as unified builds and what not. I'm going to go ahead and set my build machine up, and get it ready to start compilation. But in the meantime, keep the comments/ideas/suggestions coming in! Also, the poll will be up for 14 days, but I'm sure I'll start building something before then

Just a quick update for everyone. I installed LXLE on a laptop to get my builds going. Unfortunately that distro brought in a lot of headaches. And on top of that, I couldn't get any source to finish a simple sync. (Tried mokee, and cm) I'm not sure why, but my best guess was it had something to do with that screwy LXLE distro. Now I just finished putting Mint on the laptop, so I'll post an update again once I see if the repo sync command will finish without hanging up at 99%

Could you start by a AOSP one? Then go for custom ROM.

Modded stock kernel
A good OC-UC UV kernel would be good for the stock kitkat, i dont need a full rom, its very good with xposed framework! Thanks for your work!

Alright everyone, I got all the issues I was having fixed. Just took some time. Right now, I have MoKee compiling(android version 5.1.0_r5) for the L90. Once it is complete, I'll flash it to make sure it boots up and everything. After that I'll leave a link here for anyone to flash if they want. This is strictly going to be straight MoKee from source, no changes on my end yet. Once I know everything compiles correctly, I'll start optimizing the build and trying to fix any bugs I can. As well as cherry pick features and what not. I'm also looking into the kernel config files so I can try to include a custom kernel(OC/UC and UV) I will start a new thread when all this begins though. Thanks for the support and suggestions so far!

Update
So the build almost finished yesterday, but I ran into an OOM error right at the end. I was using an old dual core laptop with 3gb of RAM, which worked fine with JB and KK etc. So I gave it another gig of RAM, and put a lighter desktop environment on it. Everything should go fine from here, see you all soon with another update!

The MoKee ROM compiled successfully! Now I will fork over repositories to my github, and start the customizations/bug fixes. It will take a little bit before builds start rolling out, but I will start a new thread for that. For those of you that would like to try out the MoKee build, I will upload it and leave a link here shortly. This is straight from source, no changes at all (except what was necessary to get it to compile correctly) It will have all the same issues the latest cm has (camera focus, etc.) I built it from quarx's unified device tree, so it should work on d405, d410, d415. Thanks for everyone's patience!

Would any developer be willing to create an MIUI or IOS ROM for the HTC Desire 626 Metro PCs?

MIUI: Would they- No ; Could they- Yes, but there is not a single reason to do so.

Probably a reference to JoyOS, an iOS cloned theme that was last seen around the time CM 7 was still the most popular ROM. To my knowledge the original Chinese forum which was doing the heavy lifting abandoned this quite some time ago. With the exception of the Goophone I don't think anyone is doing full conversion ROMs which resemble iOS anymore and their systems don't seem to have been dumped and translated yet, which by this time indicates there is no interest.

That explains the reason why there's no more ios rom creation. But, what about MIUI? The os of MIUI has dramatically evolved over the past 4 years. Am I tripping, or is it that no one wants to take a crack at creating a rom for us little guys for devices such as the HTC Desire 626s?

Believe it or not rom creation is hard and relies on having the sources available (which not all companies will do--HTC used to be better than most about this which is why I took a chance on this phone) and on having developers who have the phone and are capable\willing to do the hard work of making a complete AOSP or Cyangogenmod version of the base operating system. Only after that has been completed do you usually start to see more exotic systems like MIUI, Mokee, ParanoidAndroid, etc, get ported over. Even then there's a dirty little secret about Android roms:
Most of them never get 100% compatibility and hardware support. Ever. Despite the best efforts of the porters.
I had an HTC One V which did well for its time but the camera never quite made it to 100% hardware support. Same thing with bluetooth. My LG Optimus F3 never quite got anywhere with roms and eventually I gave up on it and moved on to the HTC Desire 626s which despite some solid efforts at producing the slimmed down version I am currently running also does not seem to have any real custom android roms.
This goes back to my first point: Rom creation is hard.
That's why even when people put up bounties and buy phones for well known rom hackers who have produced many ports, it still doesn't always result in new roms. Because it's a lot harder than it looks.
I was spoiled initially, I had an LG Optimus V which quickly had a custom rom built for it with very good hardware support which was lean and clean. There were custom kernels for it and it quickly had all sorts of ports of everything from CM7 to JoyOS to MIUI to Mokee and friends within a relatively short period of time. It was the little phone that could and I mistakenly believed that because lightening struck and all sorts of good things were happening this was how it always was. Not even close to the case.
I got lucky. The LG Optimus V was cheap enough that it attracted all sorts of interest from a variety of the right people at the right time. This kind of thing isn't even close to being normal. Some times you get lucky, sometimes you don't.
So why not MIUI? Well I'm sorry to say but for one thing MIUI is heavy. It's heavy like Touchwiz or Sense can be, and that sort of thing can only be helped with massive amounts of optimization. Sadly not every phone has a developer (or group of developers) who are willing to do that sort of thing for free.
So all I can say is appreciate the level of development we've got and be thankful for the work of the developers who have released a slimmer rom for us already. If you need a MIUI rom for your phone, you should probably track the releases here before buying. If you check the forums, you'll see you are not alone. There are lots of people who want MIUI ports.

Thank you. You have truly answered my questions, even ones I wondered about but didn't ask. I am greatly satisfied with what you have said. I understand that rom creation is hard and it can take a toll on the one creating the rom. It's not an easy task. I to had a Samsung galaxy epic 4g touch, which had all sorts of roms for it. But also knowing from experience, you are correct. It is a hit and miss sometimes with some devices you buy. Maybe as newer devices are created, the ability to create ROMs for them gets harder because of the upgraded technology and coding. I could be wrong. On the miui official site, they is a list of devices that they support. But most of them are old school and i surely wouldn't want to take a step down from this phone just to have miui. Then the newer phones in some cases cost more than this phone(referring to the HTC desire 626). I do appreciate the effort that has been put forth for a slimmed down version for this phone. But what I've asked in previous threads was whether or not there is root access yet for the mm update for the metro PCs version of the HTC desire 626s. No bites what so ever. I'm guessing either there isn't any or I'm just not coming across it yet. Any help on that would be highly appreciated. But all in all, I would really like to say thank you for taking the time to answer my question. I appreciate that. You have brought some clarity to the table. I wouldn't mind help supporting a developer who would be willing to create an miui rom for our device once a cyanogenmod version is acquired.

The custom recovery is posted in this thread and used this> supersu.zip, fastboot flash the recovery and then flash the supersu.zip in recovery. After flashing supersu and booting up install busybox.
BUT don't forget to make a backup, just incase.

Thank you sir for the info. I am unlocked and rooted again. Now, I'll sit back and wait for some debloated roms to pop up for 6.0.1 2.17.1550.1 Metro PCS.

Hey, if you're still interested in Miui, you could try installing the launcher app, see if that gives you enough of the miui experience to get by until someone eventually makes a port?

My bad. Here I found the app in my Play Store history, (from before Google made it country specific?) and installed it. It immediately crashed but stayed open. From there I updated it from within the launcher settings and it crashed again. Just as I was about to give up I had a brainstorm and went back into settings and turned off the lockscreen. This made it stop crashing for me. I hunted around for Beautiful Widgets and replaced the clock and installed miui theme for it and everything looks good from here.
So I installed Titanium Backup and uploaded the app. Hopefully this helps you.
