Hi everyone,
I've had my HTC One (M7) for a while now and I've noticed that the battery is slowly but steadily decreasing in strength/life. I know this is normal with any type battery, it doesn't retain its full capacity forever.
Anyway, I've been thinking about swapping out its battery, only I would like to put one in that has a greater capacity than the standard M7 one (2300 mAh). I've been thinking about something along 2800 mAh or so, which is what the M9 has, if I'm not mistaken. Would the M9 battery be compatible with the M7? Also, would batteries by any other manufacturer be compatible?

Greater capacity = bigger
Its not impossible but its hard to tell without having batteries and compares their size. If the replacement battery isn't the exact same size, it won't fit in the phone. If they have the same size then try it, as long as they are the same type battery and same nominal voltage. I remember someone successfully installed a One X+ battery in a One X (300 mAh gain). I wouldn't recommend to use other manufacturer batteries, only use original HTC parts.
Have you seen what is involved in getting to the battery anyway? (Hint: It's under the motherboard)
It is doable with a standard battery but you need to get a battery and a replacement back cover at the same time because your old cover will never be the same. Also be prepared for any number of problems because these are not easy to get right.
As far as a non-stock battery goes the stock battery leaves some empty space in its cover and an M8 battery might fit, bearing in mind that the M8 is a physically bigger phone .
To be honest I'd get a new M8 and sell the M7 rather than replace the stock battery, but if you must replace it have a professional do it.

Yes its not an easy task for everyone but many members did replace the battery successfully with the help of the "i-fixit" guide. Still much cheaper than buying a M8 (400$) even if you replace the cover assy. (12$ for the battery, 15$ for a new back cover). Worth trying before buying a new phone. Local repair shops can also replace the battery for much less (around 100$ parts + labour) than what a M8 or even a M7 cost.
Hi to all
someone have been able to replace the battery with the M8 battery?

I have ordered 2 high capacity batteries for my new HTC HD7 and DHD.
They are simply higher capacity batteries but not made by HTC.
The Desire HD battery is 1600mah (standard is 1230mah) and
The HD7 battery is 1500mah (standard is 1230mah)
My DHD is aweful with its standard battery - I won't even touch it once in the day and after 6 hours it will only have 1/4 left of battery!
The HD7 is much better and seems to last the whole day with call and text use but it is always on its last legs towards the end of the day - I imagine that these batteries will offer at least another 2 hours of good use a day to these phones.
My question really lies in the safety of these batteries... they are not HTC batteries - they are made by some oem somewhere in china I would guess and I don't know if they are likely to leak and damage my phone or not with extensive use. Does anyone have any actual experience with such batteries on their phones?
I did actually buy 2 spare oem batteries for my Nexus One from eBay and have never had problems with them however I have never used them for a sustained period so I don't know for sure...
i am also interested in this. ive seen a few 1500mah batteries on ebay. but my concern is if they are really 1500mah. they could just throw a sticker on there that says so.
as for safety, as long as the batteries output is equal to that of the stock hd7 battery i dont see why there would be a problem
you'll have to let us know how they work when you get em. i might end up just getting one here pretty soon though
It's not recomended and it is risky. Those batteries can really damage your phone and in some extreme cases you can even lose your warranty. You can find this hot topic in various forums, I read a Blackberry user buying one and after 3 months working presumly better the battery started to literally mealt, ouch ! (could have been a bigger ouch btw lol). I'd wait for an extended battery but I'm new to the world of HTC and don't know how they would react. Nokia in 2006 launched a program which replaced some particular batteries and delivered increased cappacity back.
OR buy a 2nd original battery. It's the safest decision and 2460 is still better than 1500
I bought a battery like this for my Treo 700wx. Worked great for awhile and than it started to die really fast. I put back the stock battery and it would even start to die on my pretty quickly. After that, I never would buy another extended battery. Seems hit or miss but just wouldn't trust it again.
^ Exactly. Forgot to add that their cycle life is a lot shorter. While with an genuine one you could go even for years, for an extended one you should expect 6-7 months at best.
Don't buy these batteries. They all look the same and I'm guessing originate from the same supplier. I bought one and it didn't fit quite right, and I worked out the label was misaligned, so I peeled back the label to line it up and low and behold the battery itself said 900mah despite being labelled 1500mah and "replacement for desire hd".
Blatantly trying to rip off users who are desperately trying to get a little better battery life, ironically they are actually getting a lower capacity battery! Beware! Also note, I've had my hd for a month now and the battery life has improved hugely, I always get a full day now! Although its in power save mode by bed time. I have though invested in an external 5000mah portable battery charger for use when I know I'll be away from mains or usb, a much safer option.
Cheers!
Ps this is by far the best smart phone I've owned, iPhone, blackberry storm, palm not a bit as good as this, wish it could deal with outlook meeting requests though, ie accept, reject, send...only fault, and I can live with it for how amazingly it does everything else.

I've bought plenty of generic batteries and have yet to have my phone blow up in my pocket.
Hey guys,
I'm looking for an aftermarket battery that is SAFE (no dodgy stuff from, i dunno, china?) and gives me longer use than the stock battery. Although the stock battery usually gets me past a day, it can easily drop very quickly after some use.
I was hoping got the GOLD 2680mAh but I can't seem to find it anywhere What other options do I have? Is the 2500mAh one safe? Mugen makes a 2300mAh one but I don't think it's a big enough upgrade to make it worth it.
Also, I don't really want one that requires you to have a new back cover...

Wrong thread mate. We have a dedicated thread about Optimus 4X Accessories
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1652
You will find feedback about batteries too.
in 99% of all cases, it does not make any sense to buy a "bigger" battery...
They don't last longer than stock battery.
The only ting which is usefull, are the big batterys where you need a bigger cover

For example
mabyits wiser to buy one of these external battery pacs and always carry that with a cable.
these 5600 mah packs are dirt cheap (less the 8 euro on ebay)
just stick it inthere midway trough the day and it will charge some and at night just put both on a charger
and theres also 20.000 mah packs for barely 20 euro that charge with either 1 amp or 2.1 amp so thats a really fast way to put some juice in your phone.
you can charge your phone atleast 8 times with that and thats a stunning 32 hours active USE time on a pack that you can carry with you (10x6x2.5cm)
Yep, can't agree more. I use Powerbank myself, packed with 6600 mAh extra juice. Though not too convenient, it's quite handy and does magic in extending your phone usage hours

Hi guys, my M7 battery life is atrocius and it exhibits all signs of dying battery (abrupt shutdown when battery shows 14 %, short battery life, overheating). I am looking for a replacement - if you have replaced internal battery, would you give me a tip for reliable source?
I know that price is no guideline - for my old HDD iPod, I bought several replacements already, they all cost same, but some were amazing, some died after a week. And given the difficulty of replacing M7 battery, I'd rather get a good one at first attempt .
So, any tips? Experiences?
For start, I found one by an aliexpress merchant that sells recommended camera replacement: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/No-p...amera-Big-Camera-Module-Flex/32285421722.html
Here's the battery: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/pro...cement-Free-Shipping/1263085_32285595239.html
Thanks!
Like you said its a pain to replace the battery on the M7 and for this reason I would only use OEM parts and not a cheap Chinese battery. You can check the ifixit teardown for instruction how to replace the battery.
I still love my M8, and given that AT&T seems to have completely dropped HTC, I'm thinking of keeping it a while longer. However, the battery is beginning to flag, and I've contemplated attempting a replacement. However, I noticed that the M8S and M9 have very similar looking batteries, but with a slightly larger capacity (2840mAh vs 2600mAh). I'm wondering if the M8 can use this larger battery, given how similar they appear.
Has anyone tried it?
Also, has anyone tried the BinTek batteries? They appear to be "new" batteries, as opposed to the OEM batteries that are often as old or older than the original.
Thanks!
I will try to fit new m9 battery in my M8 tomorrow...

So how did it go?
Thinking of changing my old battery too and I'm curious if anything other than original will do and if m8 can even use the additional mAh.
Yes I did it. It is a same battery with more mAh. Working great

Amazing. Apps that display battery info still show 2600mah though, right?
Yes still 2600mAh in apps...
Awesome I will definitely be trying this on my M8.
Assuming I can find a seller who has reasonable shipping. E-trade is the only site I can find with M9 batteries, and they are quoting $60 shipping for a $7 battery!
Here I bought my batt: http://www.ebay.com/itm/121970774107?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
And what do you think about a HTC 10 battery can be compatible with the HTC m8???
Yes !!! M8S battery is compatible with the M8
Qoestion about m8 battery
Plz help me
Your phone (M8) after battery change complety packed?perfect?
Thank
I feel as if the stock battery of the device is not reliable at all for daylong use.
Do you think I can get some more juice running, by example, an
Pantona Battery

or an GLK Technologies Battery

best regards.
well I just bought a brand new, sealed in box M7 for £95 so that may be worth thinking about?
I already got one of the Device handed used for 80 euro's. The hardware is like as near mint, only the beats printing is gone.
The GLK Battery may damage the Chip I read..

Get a new phone....
I just did it, for me it's worth it, I love this phone. If it can serve me one more smartphone generation it did it's job and then it's my backup phone with a fresh battery.
I own 5 of these devices. All with the original battery and runs for 6-8 hours with IYTPB and possibly all day with it on idle or sleep. The hardest part would be removing the cover without damaging the rim of the shell and removing the battery from the frame. I would recommend getting the OEM battery as well and not any aftermarket ones.
I got an oem from HTC. Works great so far. The old and new battery had the same lables.
Best way to open the case is via the volume button.
