There is already a thread here discussing the port. Google it "HTC M9 Camera Port" and go to the developer's Google+ page and there is a patch available for download to include the the 4k video resolution.

I came from a HTC M8 and loved the Cam and app. I find the google camera to actually to better than this port. It feels slow and pics come out grainy in some shots for me. Its still great to have this port!

[FIXED] Video recording quality and fps

Hey guys,
So CM10 roms tend to have poor video quality (resolution and FPS)
So I am looking for someone to give ether a fix or a 3rd Party app that can record video at 640 X 480 and at 30 FPS
And since I haven't seen anyone else post about this, I figure I might as well post this in the general section so that it won't be mixed in with all the repeated and noobish questions of the Q&A section.
Thanks
Sparky
Edit:
This has been fixed, check 2nd post.

Hi Reza... What are you doing HERE?!
Apps you NEED if you are running CM10
Being honest, The current build of CM10 is not massively stable (panorama is just ugh...). So i'd recommend at very least you get a new camera app, and "Wifi Keep Alive" (as well as the standard Busybox, Backup, etc...)
I'd love to see this ROM updated and fully compatible with the Desire C! Unfortunately, I cannot do Android programming (yet) V-V

nice camera app from lenovo flagship set with 13mp

Just instal and see the difference. You'll love this camera app with sharp pictures and less noise.
This can be installed on optimus 4x hd. The camera app has functions like hdr , lots of cool effects,
etc.
This app can be downloaded from official Z thread.
I take no credit . Thanks to one who helped to poty this cool camera app.

I like it, thanks. Not perfect, some options don't work (eg. shutte sound set to off still plays) and the gallery is portrait only, but quite good app. Only thing left is to see if 5+ MB pics are corrupted like with stock.
Yup, still corrupted :c
Nice app. Burst and panaroma options make the application crash when selected.
You can record videos in gif format and the gallery application is quite good.

Thnx, I like the app on my 4X HD
Thanks for sharing, really work great on our phone. Though the burst and panaroma mode having bug of crashing, but not big deal to me since never use these 2 features. Importantly is it improve a lot on low light capturing, especially on video mode.
Gallery keep crashing... Camera works on slim..

Can we have only camera apk, without gallery?

try this one too. it works for me. almost everything works(low light is working, amazing one. effect works, front camera works, picture in picture works, video recording works, gallery works). the few things that didn't work for me are the burst mode(don't even try to use it, it will drive you crazy), panorama mode(just crash), HDR(?, not sure, takes picture but don't see any differences).
i'm using cyanogenmod 11 official, today's build.

same thing lol it works great.
after a day, this app went crazy and made my cpu stay at 100% almost all the time.
Deleted it and now its fine
I tried it on CM11 20140107 version and iodak v9.1 and it takes better pictures regarding the frontal camera, while it's the opposite with the main camera.
It has many settings and options and I would recommend it for its pictures taken from the frontal camera.
O.t.: I would like to know if there's any way to improve the brightness of the frontal camera during videocalls..

60 fps video recording?

Maybe this is just my imagination, but 1080p video recording on 4.4.1 seems to be smoother than 4.4 by an order of magnitude. It's darker than before, but If I'm not mistaken, it appears to be recording at 60 fps (which is a feature of the Snapdragon 800). Really cool and interesting.

That's odd, I thought the Nexus 5 didn't support 60FPS @ 1080p

I haven't looked at the EXIF data so I could be wrong, but give it a shot - it's waaaay smoother than before the update. This phone has a SOC that supports 1080px60 recording, so it's not outside of the realm of possibility.
My video recording seems broke now,. Pressing the red button doesnt do anything within the camera app any ideas? Cleared cache dalvik and camera app data. Photos are working fine however

Video recording remains [email protected] It's been improved so it doesn't drop frames as it did before the update.

Is there a way we can verify the framerate on-device? It looks smoother than 30fps to me.

Make sure you're on a stock 4.4.1 kernel. I was on Franco r17 and had this happen also.

Yep, MX player is unsupported on 4.4.1 at the moment. Found "BPSplayer free" and when tapping on info button shows that my video recordings are averaging around 30fps with 4.4.1. It looks much smoother to the eye and preforms extremely well for a smartphone. But no 60fps based on these results.

Well, correct you are. Disappointing, but still a huge improvement.
I really dont understand why Google chooses not to leverage the hardware they put in their devices. Our phone is capable of doing both 1080p60 and 4k30, but it supports neither.

Considering how well this update looks and performs on the N5 camera/video, I can see why one would think it was 60fps. I wouldn't be disappointed. I'm impressed.

I'd imagine it has to do with proprietary binaries from Qualcomm. Android likes everything to be open source, with access for all of us to modify/tinker, but putting all their special "tricks" which may not exist on other platforms (exynos, mediatek, etc) into open source code would potentially allow competitors to reverse engineer their methods. If you're familiar with Nvidia graphics cards on Linux it's the same thing. You can use TRUE open-source graphics drivers that are essentially terrible (no gpu video acceleration for video playback) but have source code available for, or you can use the proprietary NVIDIA drivers that arrive as binaries, no source code, but everything works perfectly on with great performance. They do this so ATI can't reverse engineer their drivers, essentially. There's also the possibility that Qualcomm charges based on which features they enable (they did this WAY back in the day on the HTC Mogul, not including hardware graphics acceleration drivers because HTC didn't want to pay extra).
I also noticed that right away much smoother video! +1 here
