Without unlocking bootloader ? can i root the phone ?

I did it with locked boot loader on a z3, getting my z3+ upcoming week and technically there is no big difference I think…
The app is partly in chinese but does not unlock the boot loader for you some no harm done

Bad luck still they haven't cracked new Z3+ code, say unable to root. Find attached pic

guys any buddy can help me add language interface for arabic support i do have a Z3+ 3days back i tied all the stock market rom.

I believe there is a way to root this phone now, but at the cost of losing the DRM keys forever. I'm not technical savvy and so I do not know the consequences of losing the DRM keys. See below for the link to the post which lets you root sony xperia z3+ for both single and dual sims.

u missed the thread title mate. unlocking bootloader & missing DRM keys are not what most of us looking for in the first place for Sony devices.

BTW it seems that bounties like this ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/xperia-z3v-general/bounty-z3-d6708-root-t3059181 ) worked.
Most of the Sony devices of late gained root through bounties like above. So if every owner of Z3+/Z4 shell out a small amount, then we'd have "exploit hunters" on the hunt which would give us a (true) root in no time.
What do you people say?

Count me in with 10€

same goes for me!

How or who can manage a z3+/z4 Bounty??

If you look in v android development there is an unsecure kernel, but this is for older firmware, maybe it works
Edit: you must unlock bootloader for custom kernel, i do not think bin4ry method works for newer firmwares

So right now, we have no root access without unlocking the bootloader.
Hopefully the genius developers will come up with something soon. A little bothered by the bloatware from my provider.
Thanks guys,

Hi funiewski,
I have tried rooting by flashing that kernel but I don't seems to get root when I check with the root checker app. Would you be able to advise on this? I would have posted in that thread but apparently I don't have enough post count.

There may be a way to root without unlocked bootloader
Try this well-known way of rooting Xperia AX in Japan.
I guess it's also possible for V to root.
1. Here is a Xperia VL's old rom and you can flash this kernel.sin and system.sin with V's loader.sin.
I can't post the link, but you can find it in uploaded.net. The ID is 3gvvv3w6.
2. Then, Root.
3. Create /data/local.prop (ro.kernel.qemu=1).
4. Flash V's system.sin without wiping.
5. Replace ric, install Busybox and Superuser.
6. Flash V's kernel.sin without wiping.
7. Do Factory data reset to easily delete unnecessary apps.

Hmm. Didn't know there was any distinction whatsoever, since I thought this was generic as my device isn't from any carrier. The only bloat that I saw (which are removable) are things like File Commander, Evernote, Officesuite.

Does Vroot require these 2 steps as a pre req?

Well, if you find those root tools shady, you can always downgrade and use the perf_event exploit and upgrade via OTA, or unlock and flash a superuser zip.

Does sony store your IMEI number in their database after unlocking bootloader?

Hi Im afraid to unlock my bootloader so I can root 14.2.A.0.290 4.3 on my z1 cause sony is asking for my IMEI number. Will they keep that number in their database or something so that when i restore TA they know I messed with the software and they wont give me a warranty repair?
Not really, I send my IMEI to Sony to unlock the bootloader but I never did. So now my warranty is avoided? I don't think so.
Thanks alot. So does that mean restoring ta gives me warranty back and Sony won't know a single thing?

Yes.
Yes, they will store it, but you can argue that you never used it.
But they have your email and your IMEI, so they can show intent and knowledge.

Sony has your phone IMEI as requested for unlock, they can not prove that you did unlock it.
Therefore unless you phone gets hard bricked in unlocked state and they can test, which would be near impossible to do because a hard brick is a stuffed phone. If you can not boot or repair your phone with hard resets etc, no body can.
As someone else mentioned here I requested it on my previous Sony Xperia Z after I first got the phone, but never unlocked it, because root was really all I was after in those early days, and root became available a week later.
The question was will they store your imei, the answer is yes. It does not mean they can prove you unlocked. What I said is correct.
There has been so much miss infirmation in these forums in the past week I can't keep up with it...
It's hard to sort out the real issues with so many people posting utter rubbish

If is not yet how someone can tell you if it will possible? You don't make sense. Z1s is locked and for sure you cannot unlock bootlader and nobody knows when a Root will be possible or if even will be. The only one thing I am sure, people are trying so you have to wait some time and be tuned on XDA.

If you bootloader unlock status says - NO and I'm sure it says, then there's no chance at all you could unlock it - ever.
For rooting guys already said - I'm sure devs will find a way but it's harder and harder to find exploit space and eventually we would stuck into unrootable devices (on 4.5 or 5.0)

What will happen when unlock bootloader

Hello, what will happen when unlock bootloader? Anybody tried this on XZ2?
Most likely the same thing that happens on all Sony devices, loss of DRM license and some camera functionality. I won't be unlocking it.
I will be unlocking mine the first min I boot it up.

Let us know what happens to DRM keys. Hopefully it's not wiped but I seriously doubt that. Root is what is keeping me from changing my XZ.

Probably the same as the XZP; green pictures.
The real answer is nothing. Sony devices seem to drag on development... More than others in my experience. As tempting as it is, I won't so it until I can fake or backup the DRM keys.
I'm running out of reasons to root anyway.
Also, You will lose Ps4 remote play and you lose X-reality Engine
There will be a DRM patch as for all the previous Xperia devices...
