Note: This thread is only for Mediatek devices.
Your phone must be rooted for this.
This permanently changes the MAC address.
So go to Settings->About Phone->Status->WiFi Mac Address and note it down or take screenshot before doing this
EASY METHOD INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Download and Install this app: ChameleMAC
2. Open it and grant it SuperUser access.
(No problem if it says that phone is not MTK)
3. Enter a MAC address or generate a random MAC address(recommended).
Then click "Apply New Mac" to spoof it.

If you need to confirm, go to Settings->About Phone->Status->WiFi Mac Address
If that doesn't work, try the following for MT6582:
ADVANCED METHOD INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Install Hex Editor
2. From File Manager (Root), open the file:
/data/nvram/APCFG/APRDEB/WIFI
3. Edit the bytes : 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09 to your desired MAC address
That's it..!!
Hit the THANKS Button if it worked for you!!!
Deym, I was about to post a similar Mac Spoofing thing.. Kinda lol
Using an app is way better than what I currently use... Hex Editor
Thanks for this dude, ima try this later...

Well, it worked for me.
You can see the screenshots. That proves it.
I tested in Stock Lollipop 5.1.1 (Sprout4 MT6582)
I have no idea why it's not working in your device.
Anyway, edit it manually using Hex Editor.
I'm sure that'll work

I guess it doesn't work with the current custom roms due to current selinux config.
Yeah, I have no choice but to use an HEditor at moment thanks again for sharing dude..

I forget to backup my original MAC address.
Is there any way to get original mac.
Actually i don't have any problem with my new mac because my university has mac filtering and i have registered my previous android and i had just changed my android one mac to previous one.

No, there's no way to get the original MAC address.
Anyway, you won't be needing the original MAC address for any reason.

Thanks for this app
In the second method (mentioning the requirement of root and hex editor) the MAC ID will change to its original value on reboot. For permanent change follow the above steps in the second method. The move to /data/misc/wifi/sockets/ and then delete the file named wlan0. Then restart the device ( wlan0 is responsible for the reappearance of original mac id ). Upon restarting another copy of wlan0 with the mac id entered using the above given steps is nvram is created changing permanently the MAC ID. If u need the original mac id again repeat the steps again. Pls note *THIS PERMANENTLY CHANGES THE MAC ID* valid only for mediatek devices
Verified using HTC DESIRE 526
Will it work on bluestacks 4?
Will the above mentioned method work on blue stcks 4?

Posted this on my Twitter (@ruqqq) yesterday. Not sure how many people use ConnectBot (like I do). But anyway, I took a whole day to learn Fragment API and decided to use ConnectBot as my "test subject". Below is the result:

Code:
[B]Features:[/B]
- Standard ConnectBot features
- ActionBar UI
- Fragments UI
[B]Known bug:[/B]
- While a console is open, if you click the EditText on bottom right, the console will lose focus. When that happens, click the list item of the current console to regain focus.
YOU NEED TO UNINSTALL THE CURRENT CONNECTBOT ON YOUR DEVICE BEFORE INSTALLING THIS VERSION BECAUSE OF DIFFERENT SIGNATURES
GitHub Link: https://github.com/ruqqq/connectbot
APK Link: REUPLOADED
I won't continue developing this and I hope somebody out there would improve the code. I've also mention ConnectBot lead developer in my tweet in hope he see this link and would merge my changes.
I get a force close when I 'sudo tail'
sudo tail?
EDIT: Reuploaded with major bugfix thanks to @mattyboy247 report
Attempting to 'sudo tail -f /var/log/apache2/error.log'
FC's at 'sudo tail'
you meant you ran the command on your server? anyway.. try the reuploaded apk.
With the first APK uploaded, after a connection to the server, I would attempt to view its apache2 error log. imediately after typing 'sudo tail ' it would FC.
The re uploaded one seems to be working now. Thanks for this.
I'll fork your Git for future reference to the code, that way I am not depending on you to see why I'm having problems, and can attempt to correct them
sure. please do. i'm only porting the UI for my use and for learning fragment api. i don't intend to further develop or maintain this.
Love the app,
but is there anyway to disable volume control for the control the text size?
is there a way to hide the host list?

yeah what does it do? Oo
same thing as connectbot, SSH terminal connections but with a modified UI for honeycomb tablets.
Did you send a pull request on github? Best way to get him to merge things. I know for a fact he watches those.
I have a fork with modification to use Search key on a Transformer for ESC. So I'll learn how to use the pull request function with you.
Great app idea! I love it. One problem though - didn't install for me. Running rooted stock HC 3.1 on Asus Transformer. I do have the original Connectbot installed, would that have anything to do with it?

hey arctu, thanks for this, i use connectbot almost every day!
Hello there,
can anybody upload apk somewhere and make a mirror? OP's link doesn't work for me ATM.

Hi arctu
I just wonder why you used the base ConnectBot.
I prefer the already modified version, Irssi ConnectBot, which sports a bunch of features such as the long touch menu, symbols, device and language specific fixes, etc.
I used to use ConnectBot for local terminal emulating, but then I discovered that one modified for irssi and now I can't do a lot of things on my X10i without it.
I hope you will start to modify Irssi ConnectBot as well.

Unable to access a doc someone shared with you
If you're unable to access a file that you could open before, or if you can't access something that was shared with you, there are a couple of possibilities.
The doc owner hasn't granted access to your account.
You were removed from the list of people with access.
The owner of the doc deleted it.
If you have the link to the file or a sharing email, you can request access to it. Visit the URL, then click the Request access link on the page that says you don't have access.
If you think that you're receiving this message in error, here are some things you can try:
Make sure you are signed in to the correct Google Account -- one of your accounts might have access, and another might not.
Contact the person who invited you to confirm that you have access and that you're visiting the correct URL.
If you're only able to view a file, but not edit it, you can ask the owner if you've been added as a viewer, commenter or editor.

I decided to help many people solve the problem of connecting to the Internet via WiFi access point.
Guidance applies to only those who have an access point or router WiFi, which connects to only a desktop or laptop impossible to connect other devices by encrypting the MAC addresses.
So if we want to connect our android to the internet via WiFi, you will need access to ROOT and ROOT Explorer available in the market play.
The whole procedure is to change the MAC address handwritten.
Photos and instructions:
First of all TURN ON WIFI. Why? Because Nvmac.info the file appears only when wifi is turn on.

1.Install root explorer and add SuperUser permissions and then in root explorer show hidden files.
2.Mounted as r/w and serach data folder.
3.Search .nvmac.info
4.Click for a second on .nvmac.info and click Open in Text Editor.
5.Here edit the MAC address on which you are interested.
6.Click permissions and do r -- r -- r -- (read v group v others v).
7.If the MAC address of the previous kidnap please premissions previously set only write and then edit and click save, then turn off and turn on phone and then delete file .nvmac.bak.
Thats all. Good Luck.
This method does not compromise in any way to your device. You do not have to worry about brick your device or any damage it.

In case of any problem, please write in this post, I'll try to help everyone individually.

Did you test this ? It looks like it's completely changing the MAC of the device instead of faking it .
And even if it does work , what happens if 2 devices with the same MAC will try to enter the same network ?
Just to clarify for everyone what this is intended to do : if a router has MAC filtering on (allows only devices with specified MACs to connect to the network) , you would need to change your MAC and you could connect after that (ofc considering there's no WPA key and everything , it's just an example) . On Linux it would work by faking it with macchanger , but I have no idea if this is stable on Android and if it will damage the phone in any way , as it seems you are manually editing the actual MAC of the device and not faking it .
I don't recommend doing this unless you know what you are doing or unless we have proof that it works . zalukajonet please let us know if you tested it PERSONALLY on Galaxy Mini II and if it worked . Would be nice if this truly works . Thanks!

Yes, it was testing by me on my 6500D (stock rom, kernel oc, root) and working 100%. (my friend got galaxy mini 1 and working too)
Change mac address manually works, and only in this way you can access the Internet if your provider blocks access MAC encryption.
Connect to the network can only one device, although both (PC and android) have the same MAC address. If you browse the internet you do not need a smartphone to the computer was connected to the network ofc either one or the other
Next time I'm going to add a video tutorial on how to do it.
It gives a guarantee that if you do as it is described, THIS METHOD IS WORKING METHOD AND WILL NOT DAMAGE YOUR SMARTPHONE.
Yours sincerely.

If you look at /data, you'll find it in the 2nd file named: .mac.info. It has rw--- permissions so maybe this is the reason why MAC adress is changing every time you connect wifi.
PD: Nope, I've changed the permissions to the one's you have in your tutorial (r-r-r) and it gets changing every time I connect wifi.

I've tried all traditional methods for changing mac address on an android device.
None of them seem to work on Ace though.
I'v even tried a few known-to-work apps.
Any work arounds?

Hey guys! It's me again! I've just solved my imei problem, thanks to mrmazak, now I solved it, I've noticed that I have another problem... I've been reading and the problem is caused by flashing (like I did) with SPFT in format all option....
Can anyone make a back up (with trwp) of the nvram files of the blu R1 HD and attach it to this thread to restore the information?
