Hi All.
I was trying to install 5.1 OTA update on my phone (Moto X - XT1052), but i got below error while install :

I:Legacy property environment disabled.

Later i tried to install stock kitkat 4.4 (XT1052_RETAIL-ASIA_4.4.4_KXA21.12-L1.26_18_cid7_CFC_1FF.xml.zip) on my phone through adb using below commands:

mfastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
mfastboot erase modemst1
mfastboot erase modemst2
mfastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
mfastboot erase cache
mfastboot reboot
But while reboot my phone got stuck at bootloader unlocked screen.
I tried to navigate to recovery, but there was nothing in there.
Also, when I tried installing same ROM through sideload, it was throwing below error:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Installation aborted...
Can some please tell, what mistake I did here and how to bring back my phone Up and Running ?

so how i am supposed to flash this then?
After some experimentation I cleaned up these instructions a little bit and confirmed this method works for me for rooted (.6):
Here's what I did, real easy:
- Download mfastboot v2 from graffixnyc's thread.
- unzip boot, recovery, system imgs that you downloaded from the OP into the mfastboot folder where the mfastboot.exe is located. Open a cmd prompt on that folder.
- Put phone in fastboot, plug it in:
Code:
mfastboot flash boot boot.img
mfastboot flash recovery recovery.img
mfastboot flash system system.img
For the new radio, download it from graffixnyc's site, put in mfastboot folder and flash :
Code:
mfastboot flash modem radio.img
After you get a successful boot, put the phone back in fastboot and download CF-Auto-root from graffixnyc's post in "General". Put the CF-Auto-Root.... img (inside the zip in the /image folder) in the mfastboot folder with everything else and flash according to his instrucions :
Code:
mfastboot boot CF-Auto-Root-victara-victaratmo-xt1095.img
That's it. Nothing hard about it. Any questions let me know.
Big thanks to both mrvirginia and graffixnyc for their work on this. And of course Chainfire.
*Note- you have to be upgrading from KK for this to work. If you run into issues already on a version of 5.0 and attempt this method to "fresh install", you will get stuck at boot ani. Downgrade and then try this method again. :good:

The files in this OP worked great for me on .6, but .11's so widespread I'm not sure why one wouldn't downgrade to KK and accept the OTA? Then use chainfire's root?

Yes, got the new mfastboot, but I've tried with old as well as mfastboot v1. I was trying to flash .11 but I got this error, so I came here to use these files but also got this error :/
EDIT: Flashed KK and upgraded .11 from there. Can't get a signal though, even after flashing my modem back..
EDIT2: erase modemst1 and modemst2 and then flashing my fsg and modem worked

Anyone else have issues
I'm on 22.39-6 and I am having issues when the phone. Anyone else have the issue where the home and menu buttons randomly disappear? Or text messages don't appear? The only fix was to reboot the phone. I also have unresponsive issues randomly when the phone is plugged to AC power and charging. Just wondering if I'm the only one with these issues. I'm going to flash the new build, but just wondering.
Hello.
From the beginning. I took part in the tests, Motorola 4.4.2. but KK is crap for me, so I unlocked the bootloader, I installed version 6.1 RSD .... and I threw the system 4.1.2 EU (Germany phone I) .All went well with a small problem. when I flash information appears:
dismatched partition entry array crc32
fastboot reboot reason this bootloader.
However, the phone back to 4.1.2,starts normal.,updates are ok,working good but the phone screen flashes regularly when unlocked(in recovery flashes to).I tried with several firmwares EU and GB., with edited and not edited file CFC.XML ( lines gpt and partition).
How to fix it step by step?
Maybe should I install different rom,or again install 4.4.2.
Please help.
Thank you
The KK update updates the gpt.bin (partition table). So when going down to 4.1.2 u flash the system/recovery/boot images on a partition that may be smaller or larger than intended and could cause this problem. This is maybe not true. U maybe can go back by flashing the gpt.bin from the KK update. Can be found in any of the zip files from the BR KK update. Flash it through fastboot. The command on how to flash it should be in one of the xml files in an rsd-lite zip. And than again flash the system/recovery/boot through mfastboot on your device and not rsd-lite.
Use this at your own risk obviously!!!
Oh my so it's not so simple to repair phone.Difficult to find broken files and weak knowlegde of fastboot for me.What do you think...Maybe I should try install unofficial rom based on JB or KK to Razr I ? Are there any roms unofficial?
Yesterday I have read :
INDEX/GUIDE, ALL Things RAZR I and downloaded some files.I have an idea .Maybe should now downgrade from JB to ICS and after that update OTA to JB ? Unfortunally links SBF with firmwares are dead and don't know where to find working. What you think about that ? Is it bad idea?Much easily will be just find gpt.bin (I found it and downloaded from Brasil version of KK ) and flash it somehow?
OK here is solution :
From some reason my phone wasn't recognised in fastboot but command line worked well.
OK so I've installed fresh rom(4.1.2 EU) via mfastboot .
Commands :
mfastboot flash gpt.bin from KK version (oryginaly was gpt gpt_signed from4.1.2)
mfastboot flash motoboot motoboot
mfastboot flash boot boot_signed
mfastboot flash recovery recovery_signed
mfastboot flash motobp motobp
mfastboot flash system system_signed
mfastboot flash cdrom cdrom_signed
mfastboot erase cache
mfastboot erase userdata
mfastboot reboot
After few minutes starts to flashing again.Even on screen "warning unlocked bootloader"
Phone back to life after installing: [ROM][Kitkat] Unofficial Cyanogenmod 11 via TWRP . Nothing flashes ,no problems, everything works great!
THX HAZOU for your help .
Hi,
I have an XT1072 which was rooted and running CM. Since I wanted to install stock ROM, I used the Windows Tool from this forum to restore stock Android. By doing so, I was stuck with Bootloader locked screen.
Since then I am stuck on Fastboot Flash Mode screen (see pic attached).
When I try to connect my device to the same PC or any other PC and try mfastboot or fastboot or any command, it just says Waiting for device. I have all the required drivers installed in all the PCs I tested.
Using the volume buttoms, I am able to select any option, but it wont open any option (such as Normal Powerup or Recovery)
Can someone help?
Thanks
anyone?

Hi, like I said above, I have tried fastboot and mfastboot commands but when I try that it says "waiting for device" and it does nothing.
I have ADB and fastboot drivers on my pc, and they used to work just before I encountered the above mentioned error.
Not sure how to proceed here.
Thanks if you could provide a workable solution.

I'm also stuck here, anyone has had any luck?

Bootloader should check if boot and system images are correct otherwise it should send user back to bootloader.

I gave this a shot as suggested and I'm getting this error:

Also getting the error:

Out of tricks stock flash + factory reset always worked for me sorry.
I noted my phone model/region before doing anything (xt1072-thea-reteu) got the right fw and it worked fine, maybe was another problem giving the same error "failed to validate system image" unable to boot and stuck in bootloader, weird.... :\
Well thanks for trying.
I've been giving it another shot again and I still can't get past these errors.
Anyone any more ideas or shall we admit defeat?

My phone is in a drawer I'd love to be able to fix it because I really miss Android now but it there doesn't seem to be a solution... I am no giving up hope entirely though!
I tink that I have similar problem with my X1072.
After unroot with Kingroot and install AdAway and TWRP from Google Play I even noticed that I hadn't unlock bootolader.
Now I can't reboot my phone without entering in Bootloader and reseting to factory defaults. After some reboots no data has been deleted.
I have tried to reflash the entire phone but In bootloader mode the phone is not detected by the computer, so I can't flash. I'm stucked. by now

Also remember if you are on another model and not XT1072 you should dl the correct image for your phone from HERE Look if Android 6 is available for your country, if you have gb-de-fr-es you can use the EU stock image.
Unpack everything in the same folder and launch the *.BAT as admin
Hello, I have an AT&T XT1097 boot loader unlocked and was rooted. I had Bliss 6.1 based on CM13 I believe. Read a post about a factory flash of Marshamllow for the XT1095. Which is what mine showed to be after bliss install.
I booted to TWRP recovery to prepare for flash of stock ROM. This is where I screwed the pooch. I went into advanced and selected every available erase option. Now when I try to boot into TWRP recovery it just boot loops (i think) it shows bootloader unlocked twrp tries to start but has error messages about unable to mount files or partitions? It happens really fast so it's hard to see what it is saying.
I can get to fastboot mode and use fastboot commands but TWRP will not start and I have no ADB connection.
I try to update a zip image with fastboot and ot says: archive does not contain 'android-info.txt'
archive does not contain 'android-product.txt'
error: update package has no android-info.txt or android-product.txt
I have it stuck in fastboot mode to stop looping, it won't shut off.
Can anyone tell me what I need to do to recover this little guy?
EDIT: I may have made some progress? It hangs at bootloader unlocked screen instead of looping I got what was supposed to be the factory file dump. Used mfastboot flash boot boot.img
mfastboot flash logo logo.bin
mfastboot flash system system.img
mfastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
mfastboot erase modemst1
mfastboot erase modemst2
mfastboot flash fsg fsg.bin
mfastboot erase cache
mfastboot erase userdata
mfastboot erase customize
but system image failed. error message is:
C:\Users\Scott\Desktop\Fresh XT>mfastboot flash system system.img
< waiting for device >
target max-sparse-size: 256MB
Invalid sparse file format at header magi
Since there aren't any replies, I will take a shot. If you can get your moto to a prompt, have you tried to re-flash TWRP via fastboot? Probably won't work, but ...
OK, This is what I learned. Whatever flash zip I was using just had system.img. The system image will be in multiple sparsechunk files.
What I ended up using was VICTARA_TMO_XT1095_5.1_LPE23.32-21.3_cid9_CFC.xml
This turned the phone into an XT1095 and to cap it off. It gets gets factory OTA updates. It first did an update to a newer version of 5.1 and then it downloaded and installed 6.0. I'm a happy camper. It doesn't have any of the Wonky AT&T apps and I have Marshmallow.
If anyone else needs to recover their XT1095, XT1097 or XT1092
//mega.nz/#F!ow8igZRL!Z7vmN8GOpez2bVMYDvEKkg!IkEVHRxS
Looks like I could have just gone straight to 24.49-18 as that is what the phone is now.
Make sure you know what file you need. I used a RETBR not realizing it was a brazil build. But it was progress as I was no longer soft bricked.
Hi All!
Here is my situation, I have a moto g xt1072 (Jan 2016) which came with a faulty problem, no sound after 5 seconds of been started. I checked everything (Factory reset via recovery), including both speakers, (both working at 7.5 ohms). Do you think a firmware change or a different ROM can help or it's time to let it go?
Base band: M8926_309101.02.03.19R THEA_EMEA_CUST
Kernel: 3.4.42-gef77327 [email protected] #1
System Version: 24.41.34.thea_retes.retesall.en.EU retes
Complation numer: MPB24.65-34
Everything is stock, no changes were made.
Thanks in advance!!!

I used to install custom ROM's on my old Defy + but I things are very different now for what I'm seening. :S

mfastboot download: Done
firmware download : Done
Fastboot: I'm not quite sure what is this about, is this for the new firmware installation? The guide you point says something about downgrading 4.3 to 4.2 and I'm running 6.0 stock.
I tried the first command (mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin) and it got stuck at : Waiting for device.
should I root the phone first?
can I use RSD Lite?

The guide I linked to is not about downgrading. Ignore references to Android 4.3 - it still applies to Android 6.0. It sounds like you have not installed the usb drivers for your phone in Windows. This is a prerequisite. These Moto G drivers will also work for your phone:
Moto G USB Drivers (WinXP/7/8/10 32Bit-64Bit)
Test Fastboot is working by typing: fastboot devices
You may also be able to use RSD Lite - but this again will require you have installed USB drivers for your phone.

my opinion is use RSD lite first, unless there is not a specific firmware file for your carrier/region...
or there is a high rate of flashing failure with the firmware available.
if RSD lite fails, best to post errors from pc and phone here
before try again, if there's not an obvious fix
then try mfastboot.exe
fastboot.exe is generic android, mfastboot.exe is Motorola specific, for moto's unique system.img...
avoid usb 3.0 ports
make sure the firmware downloaded is correct size, verified MD5 is best.
verify drivers are correct when the device is in fastboot mode
I have generic moto instructions in my

i think the tip you gave to avoid usb 3.0 ports will really help, didnt realize i was using the usb 3.0 port
Ok, this is what I did so far: (I'm running Windows 7 64b).
1. RSD Lite 6.2.4: Installed
2. Motorola Mobile Drivers Installation 6.4.0: Installed
3. Motorola Device Manager: Installed
1. I started the mobile into the recovery mode
2. Connected the moto cable to the pc
3. Opened RSD Lite, loaded the new firmware and hit start boton
4. The process reached a "please reboot manually...."
5. The phone starts but with the old firmware in it.
More Updates: I ran mfastboot sequence and every command returned OKAY. The issue still remains intact, sound works for 5 seconds, and the firmware has not been updated.
Any thoughts?

Ok, please check the attachment.
It looks increasingly like your issue is hardware, not software related. The only remaining software option I can suggest is via PC, do the following wipe: (requires working ADB setup - google it)

Can you explain why does it retain the original firmware after mfastboot commandas ran well?
Just a quick reminder. This moto g XT1702 Jan2016, is not rooted, bootloader is locked and has everything stock, it came with Android 6.0 installed.

How do you mean original Firmware? You are flashing a Stock Android 6.0 firmware image.

What I have right now is : System Version: 24.41.34.thea_retes.retesall.en.EU retes and after flashing to XT1072_THEA_RETES_6.0_MPB24.65-34_cid7_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml. I'm still having 24.41.34.thea_retes.retesall.en.EU retes.
