[Q] What is the dimensions of dpi folders? - Android Studio

for hdpi,mdpi.xhdpi.xxhdpi ?
and if I'm storing some 20 pictures in my resources folder and displaying them one by one in "imageview" do I have to store these 20 pictures according to there size or dimensions in these hdpi, mdpi, xhdpi, xxhdpi folder? thus making 20x4 = 80 pictures ? :/

DPI : Device independent pixcel
Hey.
Android has device dpi format to display the layout.
Regarding images . if you want to support all devices screen. Yes, You need to make 80 images.
In development as developer we use mostly two sizes
1) Mobile
2) Tablet
When you put your images into drawable folder. Each mobile & tablet will access this.

Hi Guys,
I'm looking for a specific background for my hero.
I've downloaded the 'backgrounds' app from the market and also had a search via google with no luck.
Any idea where I can get a Tottenham Hotspur wallpaper from?
Or if not, how I can convert a picture to use as a wallpaper?
Thanks,

i.e. not the physical screen resolution, but the resolution of the image that is scrolled in the background of the default 7 touchflo (android home?) pages. i dont think its simply 7x width of screen, as it doesnt scroll as much as the foreground

Check the HTC site and see if it lists the dpi (dot per inch / dot pitch) of the screen... but a 72 dpi image should be fine, or use a larger size than 640x480.
As long as its the same aspect ratio it will scale nicely when cropped.
Cheers joe!
I've found something decent, I was under the impression I needed a specific android wallpaper, but the image I found from one of your links seems to work fine!
Thanks...

Any 640x480 jpeg image should be fine for a home screen background, anything larger can be cropped down when you set it

With Custom Android Font Switcher download here : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lee.android.switcher , you can install, 150 fonts that the application proposes, in addition to install fonts in our external storage device, The application consists of three tabs: Local Fonts, and Font Server Settings. In Local Fonts is possible, of course, browse through folders in search of the internal memory of the character set, while in the Font Server are the famous 150 characters, you can set. Obviously you must be connected to the Internet to view all the fonts in Font Server. In Settings, however, find all the settings of the app. If you have problems with the font size, or, if they are too big or too small compared to the ideal size, you should download the application Big Font, download here : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.a0soft.gphone.bfont

Change DPI for the whole system

Hello
i ve got a note 3 with x transformer installed, this app changes the whole dpi of the screen so its displayed way smaller.
i like to have that app on my z1 too but i think that application is for note 3 only.
textdroider dpi app from the play store also changes the settings and it worked allthough it doesnt set new borders so the smaller content can fit the whole screen, its like the screen has the same size but zoomed out , so i cannot put apps on the whole destop and the menu and apps are displayed "small" and dont fit all the screen.
is there another possiblity to change dpi settings?
i found a guide tho where one can change a system file for density but i think that would do the same to the screen as the app did.
ty for your help

[Q]Android studio layouts and preview devices

I have hard time to understand how the layout folders are binded with specific preview devices. I have an app and I'm trying to support Samsung Galaxy s4 zoom device. This device is 540x960 4,3 inches and ~256 dpi as I found. I've created a layout folder for this device with name "layout-w540dp-h960dp", and I created a virtual device according to above values also. The problem is that the available preview devices for this layout folder are nexus tablets with 7", 9" and 10", and If I try to use the custom virtual device I created, the layout folder changes automatic to hdpi layout folder. In both cases the elements need corrections(much more on tablet previews, in which needed resizing and repositioning of almost all elements). Is there any way to bind the "layout-w540dp-h960dp" folder with the virtual device I made, which has the correct dimensions?

How to change background icons in AA apk?

Hi, is there a way to replace some jpg and png icons in the AA apk with new ones ? First of all, I would like to change some background images. I have created about 20 sets of background images (1 jpg + 2 png files each, such as : 2rx.jpg + bXM.png & WyY.png) of home screen icons respecting the format, size and name of the original ones. I tried various solutions but it doesn't work. Or it doesn't start, or it starts but works with errors.
Any solution ideas?
Thanks.
