Any way to install twrp without pc - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
My PC is down and I am running cm12.1 with CyanogenMod recovery. Is there anyway to install twrp without a PC?

U could try Rashr tool from googleplay. But i dont use it so cannot say if it work

I used rashr to flash this one
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934529111
Settings don't seem to stick with it, but other than that its doing the job nicely.

Thanks fellow z3c users! If there's newer versions of twrp, please share .

There's atleast a 2.8.6.0 laying around somewhere, didn't have that fancy splash screen though..

[Q] Error message when accessing SuperSU

So yesterday I decided to root my HTC one, after the 4.3 update.
After I unlocked the bootloader, I couldn't root using TWRP because the touchscreen wouldn't work when I booted to recovery. I figured out that I was using an old version TWRP, and once I updated TWRP it seemed like everything was going to work. Now I have SuperSU (updated to the newest version via app store) on my phone but when I try to open the app I get the following error
"There is no SU binary installed, and Super SU cannot install it. This is a problem!
If you just upgraded to Android 4.3, you need to manually re-root - consult the relevant forums for your device"
Uhhhh any ideas on how to fix this? This is the first time I have tried to root so I don't have alot of experience with this. I can't post in the Dev page because I previously had been a lurker and never really posted.
same problem
Same problem here.
I have T-Mobile HTC one that I convert to Google play edition.
After the update to 4.3 I lost the root.
Please help.

I'm not sure what you mean. I can boot into recovery and get into twrp, and now that I have the new version of TWRP it the screen will work. I'm not sure if that answers your questions or not.

[Q] Thinking of rooting note att but have question

Is it possible to unroot after I have my phone rooted and will I still have phone calls/text/data?
Yes and yes

Thank you can you direct me to the how to root?
Towel root . Then install busybox and supersu .then open busybox and follow what it says .
Google it and it will give you everything you need to know . Its realy easy you should have any trouble but make sure you open busybox and use the install within it.

Do i need to back up? im already backing up stuff like texts settings and whatnot with kies 3 what about the stock rom?
I dont think there is a way to backup your rom until you root . After root install safestrap then you can backup your rom through it . What are you on kitkat or jb?
Sent from my SM-N900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
KitKat i already have the apk downloaded just making sure i do it right lol
Ok . Like i said run the apk install supersu and busybox grant permissions in supersu you must open busybox and let it run the install after all thats done then for giggles i would reboot to make sure everthing takes . Try titanium backup to back up your apps and data . Then if you want to go further download safestrap 3.75 and open it and install it then reboot and you should be good . Search youtube for safestrap and watch the videos before you do it it will help alot cause thats where you can destroy your phone if you dont know what yoir doing its also where you can backup your rom .

alright im letting it backup before i start but i have rooted a nook into android and modded a psp so i do know what to do as long i have insrtuctions
What helped me the most was i youtubed everthing before i did it and it realy helped me alot .everything your trying to do is on you tube if you want to watch it first .you can read this forum but it might take you a month to find the answer you want but the info is here.

I have nokdroid installed on my Nokia X2DS and I love it but when the google play store gets updated the screenshots of the apps on the store don't appear and later the play store stops working at all(shows 'connection timed out' 'retry' whereas I use high speed wifi) I have to stop the play store from updating itself by using several apps but I want the play store up to date in my Nokia X2DS. Current play store version is 4.6.17

[Q] I have TWRP Bootloader, AOSP Lollipop, but I can't Root my device!

Hi to everyone! I have to say I'm puzzled about my phone, since I got him I started to do some tweaks here and there, when I still used the stock ROM, I used the toolkit to root, install TWRP bootloader and my first custom ROM in this phone (it was Slimkat btw). Since that ROM was kinda stable, I used for like a year, until recently I flashed via TWRP the latest Lollipop AOSP, I have to say it's great for this phone... but suddenly I realized that there was no Superuser or SuperSU app, so I decided to run the Rootchecker and somehow my device is not rooted anymore!
I tried to Root again with the one click toolkit, but it didn't work, and all other method I tried didn't work either. Posting this thread is my last cry for help to root my device, please help me!
You have to flash SuperSU apk with TWRP.
Use Google to find the last version by Chainfire and everything will be OK

So what about getting root?

Now that many 5C models have the emui 5.0/nougat update, has anyone tried rooting it yet? Also is it still the case that Xposed is still not available for nougat??
yeah theres no android N xposed even abdroid 8 is coming already... i dont see point on rooting without xposed since theres no root adblock apps.
I like to install sound mods and I use lucky patcher to remove ads and get in-app stuff, freedom app as well. They all need root. Just downloaded open kirin twrp for emui 5.0. It's been deleted from xda posts but seek and ye shall find. I also have the revolution recovery twrp for nougat but although it worked for emui 5 beta, apparently it doesn't with the proper release. I downloaded superuser for emui 5.0/nougat so now I'm going to do various backups and give rooting a go.
usually there comes bug fix OTA in few weeks after android version updte, i wait till device is discontinued updates and root thn

Okay, so I was just about to root but then I see your post but can u explain in more detail please why it's better to wait for final ota. And do you know for sure if/when there will be more OTA bug fixes??

waiting for official ota is good to be sure that region is correct so youre able to make calls and text, but NEM-L21 has only one region so it doesnt matter if you use official OTA or use proxy method.
Okay so I have successfully rooted my phone by flashing super user zip file through twrp! Damn shame Xposed framework is not available for nougat though but at least I can install sound mods and can use lucky patcher to get rid of ads in apps and use freedom to get free inapp stuff. Also I use root essentials and L speed app. Beggars can't be choosers

I found this : https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p9lite/development/twrp-t3588356
I just tried it. Both the unofficial TWRP and the modded SuperSU seem to work so far.
Yes I think we used the same files and installation. OpenKirinHi6250 twrp and superuser.zip for emui 5.0. :good:

Seems to work fine so far. But I really have no idea why this TWRP works while the official doesn't. Same about this modded SuperSU.

Have you or anyone else had any problems installing busy box? I tried installing busy box pro(sterricson app) and it would not install. I tried all 4 paths to install to but it failed every time. So I installed busy box pro(jrummy app) and after running a script in the app to mount read/write I was able to install successfully. Just to make sure I install to su/bin, su/xbin, system/bin and system/xbin. I ran a root/busy box checker app.and it says both installed correctly...

I use the busybox installer app by meefik (because it's free software) and it works fine.
Thanks Zarou and iantechie1979, I was looking for working TWRP since days.
TWRP and SuperSu worked for me too (Honor 5C NEM-L51 version B350).

Be careful though, I and some other user noticed that restoring backups from this TWRP will result in a phone with no sound at all. I don't know if this is fixable, factory reset don't put it back to normal.
Other than that, this TWRP seemed, but I can say for sure. In any case, DO NOT RESTORE BACKUPS from this TWRP.
