Hello guys, I bought an Att sim unlocked, locked bootloader moto X 2013, and I' m fine with stock, but I want to remove some bloatware. Now I'm in 4.4.4 and I heard that I can root my phone, but after a reboot the root is gone, because of the locked bootloader.I want this temporal root to unistall the att bloatware plus some other app. Is it possible?
Thanks in advance?
Instead of temporary Rooting, you could better choose to Disable the Bloats.. (few cant be disabled as well) :s

Temp root was available on 4.4.2 and lower. Once on 4.4.4 you can't root, nor can you use Sunshine to unlock your bootloader then root.

I have a locked Moto X 4.2.2 (latest camera patch).
I used RockMyMoto to root it and it worked fine.
But now I want to goto KitKat..
From what I think I've read, I could take one of two options
1. Go through the SlapMyMoto process to update to 4.4 Kitkat and stay locked
- This keeps stock recovery and root I think?
OR
2. Unlock my phone officially and just push TWRP and SuperSU with adb/fastboot and I'm done?
Is that right? Is it really that simple to root when you are unlocked? I don't give 2 flips about voiding my warranty

The conversation here is regarding unlocking the phone's bootloader, not unlocking the carrier...
I was just referred to this site for guidance on rooting my Verizon XT1096 (Moto X 2014) running Lollipop 5.0. I understand there was a problem with the locked bootloader on this particular device that has been preventing root access. Is this still the problem? Is root still not being achieved? And also, how can I determine if my device has a locked bootloader?
Thanks
Reboot into fastboot menu it will tell you if its unlocked
There is no root for the Verizon version.
Your phone has a locked bootloader, and unfortunately there is no root for it either. Sorry to say, but you are stuck with a stock phone.

Only a TEMP root, with Towel Root, or TowelPie root was possible on 4.4.2 with a locked bootloader.
IF you've never had your phone upgraded to 4.4.4... and you still have 4.4.2 with bootloader 30.B4, take a look at Sunshine to unlock your bootloader, then you can root just like you had a Developer Edition phone...

Hi All,
I have a non-developer edition AT&T Moto X and I'm thinking about going the route of a custom rom now that it's slowed down a bit since it was new. I've had 4 or 5 android phones in the past, and this is the first one that I have not rooted/modified. So, I suppose my question is, if I'm currently on 4.4.4 with my bootloader locked, will I hinder my ability to later root and flash a new rom if I take the upgrade to 5.1?
Thanks for the help!

If you are wondering if you can root or unlock your phone to use a custom ROM, I'm pretty sure for that device there isn't currently any way to root or unlock it, there may be some temporary root methods, but don't really know, but unlocking the bootloader would only be if a new exploit is found with Sunshine, or if the China middleman reappears, which is how I unlocked
My son has a moto x bought in 2014 - XT1052. How can i root it safely, because i am a little afraid of the process. I have in mind that is very dificult to do that in this phone, anybody as made it? I have the OPO rooted and is great, my son wants some of the functionalities that i have in my phone but it needs to be rooted...
Sorry for my english (not my 1st or 2nd language)...
yes possible to root, i've rooted mine with king root, but you need to unlock your bootloader first, then install the .apk file of king root(the easiest method to root moto x), then get twrp recovery and you're good to go !
