Multi window - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

OK This may sound like a stupid question, but I can not for the life of me figure out how to get my multi window tray from the left side of the screen to the right! On lollipop by the way. Lol. Thank u.

Do you see a small arrow sticking out of the left side of the display? If not, press and hold the back button until it emerges. Then press and hold the small arrow and then drag the entire multiwindow panel from the left side to the right side.

Black mark on corner

Does anyone else sometimes see some kind of black shape in the top left hand corner?
yep, but not for a while
have no idea what it is tho
what do You mean? on the screen? I used to have some artifacts on start menu icon, caused by fingerkeyboard 2.1. sorted by disabling bottom bar hiding.
I have the exact same thing. Comes and goes--I've just learned to ignore it.
bronx is right, it's Fingerkeyboard. If you try to click on this shape, you'll see one letter of the keyboard appearing... Probably a bug !
oic,so its fingerkeyboard. thx
no problemo
I got rid of fk and using resco keys now. much easier to press "p" with right thumb now...

[Q] Moving the text cursor

Hello,
I have updated from my much loved G1 (rooted updated to CM6) to the SGS, I'm really happy with it so far, except there is no trackball... and I've found navigating around text to be extremely irritating, especially if the text in say the google search box in the stock browser is overflows, you cant move the cursor to the end of it by the touch screen.
Am I missing a trick here or is this something I have to live with? [long press on text in the iphone brings up a magnifier to move the cursor around, considering TW is an iphone clone I thought samsung would have added something similar]
If you use Swype, swyping the bottom two left keys from left to right will bring up the arrow keys. You should be able to navigate your text with that.

Thanks for that, having no rollerball / D-pad on the SGS was a bit of a pain after having a HTC Hero, but not any more

You're my saviour. Marry me!
Cursor arrows are also available in the normal Samsung keyboard by long pressing/holding down the '?123' button on the bottom left corner.

Why on earth wasn't this told to us by the phone when we first used Swype? This makes things much easier, thanks for the tip!

Yep, they should've added it to the main tutorial. But it's mentioned in under 'More Help' when you long press the 'i' (information) button.
In Froyo, when you click on a text field it brings up a little blue cursor mover, it looks like a blue circle with an triangle on top. This allows you to positon the cursor by pressing on the circle and moving the cursor. It also allows for selection and copy/cut/paste. It is a big improvement over 2.1.

Looks like that option is not available in Froyo (long press and arrow keys) unless i am missing something?

Pull down menu directly into settings

hey, in most other KK roms you have an option that the pull down menu goes immidiatly to settings if pulled from the right.
in sony FW it's only available if you use two fingers, but using the right corner of the screen is far more comftarble than two fingers, did anyone found out how and if this can be changed? i tried gravitybox for KK and it didn't work...
Thanks for the 2 finger mention, I didn't know that and I really like it.
In response to your question, gravity box does not work on 4.4 anyway (Breaks volume buttons) and it is unlikely to be fixed by the dev of GB.
I am sure there is a mod for it in the Home.apk, someone will look into it.
If you pull down from the right side of the screen you'll go the quick settings right away, if you pull from the left it goes to the notifications.
You have to put your finger on the screen right away, not pull down from the bezel down (in that case it works if you pause when the pulldown menu starts showing. The 'glow' initially is at notifications but goes to 'quick settings' after a very short time. Then continue the pulldown.
But as mentioned if you start the pulldown on the top of the screen itself you'll immediately see the glow at the quicksettings if you start at the right.
Hope this is clear
ps. sucky about gravitybox messing up the volume buttons btw, hadn't noticed that yet but you're right. Launcher crashes :/ Too bad as I use various mods of it (rescaling navigation bar, advanced power menu...). Hope a fix will be there soon.

Use Xblast module for those mods, they work fine

Hmmm, that's strange... Works fine here. I'll see if I can make a screencapture-vid to clear it up a bit.
Xblast works fine indeed btw, thanks for the tip!

That's also my idea. Until I have installed Xposed it worked that way. Now with Xposed it doesn't. But if you keep your finger on top of the battery while sliding down you are able to switch while sliding down. Got to get used to it.
This works for me
Just pause until the 'Quick settings' tab goes white (is selected) and then continue to slide down.

That was indeed part of what I was trying to say, but in my case it immediately goes white/selected (and thus to the quick settings) when I start swiping from the statusbar on the right side of the screen (not completely right, say where the 'quick settings' words are)..

You are right - it changes very fast and after a few tries you are able to almost in one swipe.

Is there any update to this problem besides the workarounds posted?
I would prefer to have left-right drag down for notifications-quickmenu like the way my Nexus 7 works.

Any trick to get pen window to work easily?

Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I have a heck of a time swiping from the top corner to reduce an app into pen window. Try it in chrome and see what you get.
I either end up pulling the notification shade or swiping tabs. After 10 tries I might get the window. what am missing?
If your talking about pop up window I was having the same problem, here's what you do.. Swipe the corner of either the right or left side down but go ABOVE the screen a little start from the bezel where there's no screen and you should get it every time.. Hope this helps
Yeah that's it. Sorry, they used to call it pen window on note 3.
I'm still struggling with it.
Lol im opposite of you. They get swype too easily!....though I wonder if screen sensitivity increase have anything to do with it
It also doesn't work on everything.. No homescreen, you have to be on the browser or other applications for it to work..
Pen window was a different thing all. Together where you would draw a little box with the pen and a few applications would come up, this you don't need to use the pen for it to work, so if you're using the pen it might make it harder try what I said using your finger and see if it helps..
I'm not using the pen at all. I just tried it a bunch of times and I get better results (not 100% but much better) if I swipe quicker and from the corner of the PHONE, not the corner of the screen. Just about what Melissa recommended. But for me speed seems to factor in too.
Good I'm glad it's working better for ya! ?
Try near very corner, where it says PM/AM ...starting from the status bar...pull down past the bar, then i towards the center. You'll notice that if you go straight down the shade won't move.
That's usually where I reach to pull the shade down and kept wondering why it wouldn't come down the first time I try it.
are there any videos or picture tutorials of this? I'm really having problems. Granted this is my first Note device, but I haven't ever gotten it to work even one time.

It really is as easy as it sounds. Put your index finger over the front facing camera in the upper right corner of the phone then slide your finger diagonally across the screen towards the bottom left. Works for me every time as long as the app support it. Not all apps work so make sure you are using a supported multi-window app.

Yeah, there are 'dead' zones on both ends of the status bar. After you pull down from the dead zone, just swipe towards the center. You can actually pull down about 1/2 inch and it will still work.
I'm very embarrassed to report back, but I had never turned on "Multi-Window." Perhaps my noobiness will help someone else!
Thanks to all those who offered help!

[Q] Multi Window

Is there a way to move the Multi Window to the other side of the screen?
Yes, you have to push the point and choose the second symbol from the top.

Sorry, I didn't state my question correctly. Talking about when you swipe the right side of the screen from right to left. Is it possible to move this selection window to the other side of the tablet.
Ah ok, now i understand. You want the launchbar on the other side.
