[Q] just did something "monumentally" stupid... :( - Moto X Q&A

How can I get a ROM loaded on my phone using the following:
Moto X (1st Gen - 2013)
Philz Touch 6.57.9
ClockworkMod c6.0.5.1
USB cable and PC
Liquid ROM and gapps on PC
This is the stupid thing I did:
While trying to get a boot-looping ROM to work, I cleared out my cache, dalvik... EVERYTHING. Then I accidentally erased the restore (while erasing everything) so now I don't even have the backup to return to.
I unlocked and rooted my phone and everything went through perfectly, smoothest root I've ever done on any Android phone (yet another reason why I like the Moto X so much).
Help?

if you can still use the recovery try to load a rom with adb (adb push or adb sideload) I don't remember the correct procedure, search in the forum... hope you have all the drivers installed in your computer.
You can also try to flash stock rom with RDS.
These are just some suggestions, if you search in the forum you will solve your problem!

2 options.... either flash a stock rom using RSD lite....
or if you have an otg cable or an otg usb flash drive copy your backup to it and restore the backup

No problem bro u can use recovery and side load rom or download original rom From Here and flash using RSD lite...
Roms Links : http://www.filefactory.com/folder/dd05c058d3ff8dbe/?sort=created&order=DESC&show=100&page=1

what is, "RDS"?

RSD Lite: I found what it is:
http://www.andromods.com/download-files/install-rsd-lite-latest-version-flashing-tool-motorola.html
"For those who not familiar with RSD Lite, it is a tool that is used to help flash stock firmware to any Motorola devices, it works almost the same way as Odin for Samsung or flashtool for Sony. The tool sometimes became the last-ditch effort for Motorola users to repair their phone or tablet when they get into trouble due to failure flashing or just want to restore their device to stock condition for a warranty claim."

Its almost like you should learn to do these things BEFORE you mess everything up?
Google up on adb push

Help on Entering Recovery and Flashing Please?

Okay .... I have sucessfully rooted the wife's original Verizon Moto Droid and I have installed CWM via ROM Manager. I have performed a backup of her current ROM.
From the looks of things here, I will just load the ROM I want to flash onto her sd card and then flash it via ROM Manager. Is this correct? If it fails half way through the flash, can I still enter CWM via the key sequence to re-flash/restore the phone to its original state using the backup on the card from ROM Manager?
I gave her this phone when I bought my Samsung Droid Charge when it came out back last March. I can flash ROMs & Kernels on that phone all day long but the Moto Droid is an entirely different animal. I want to be sure of my fail-safes before I flash anything here.
Thanx In Advance for Your Help
Okay ... cwm just didn't take the first time I flashed it. I am now able to enter CWM from a powered off state.
[Q] If I flash a rom and it doesn't take half way through the flash, will I still be able to enter cwm and install the backup of her current rom? That ROM is not in a zip format on the sd card. It is a tar file and the other components in a folder.
I want to be sure I can recover the phone if I experience a bad flash before I attempt anything. Remember, this is my WIFE'S phone !!! LOL
Any help appreciated.
Edit: Also, I installed RSD lite on my computer but when I open it and hook the phone up, it doesn't see the phone. At least, from what I can tell it doesn't. I click 'show' device and nothing happens. Is this a flashing tool or do I put the ROM on sd card and flash via rom manager? And the fail-safe !! Gotta have the fail-safe !!!

[Q] Wiped everything using TRWP, now stuck on startup screen

Hello, I'm kinda new to the android scene.
Yesterday, I wanted to restore my phone to factory settings but the s3 mini toolkit said that usb debugging was not on (but it was) so I thought I could just wipe everything using TRWP, boy was I wrong.
I tried to flash my phone back to stock via odin but my computer won't even detect the phone(uninstalled and installed phone firmware). I tried placing the md5 file into the microsd in hopes of flashing it via TRWP but it's not recognized either.
Did I brick my phone? lol
Phone does not recognise microsd or md5?
In first case, try ADB and push some custom rom to phone. Try with universal naked driver.
In second case, try .zip custom rom.
But if it is like TWRP for ASUS TF300, then wipe everything means everything, so you're doomed.

Do you even get a bootscreen? Its possible to factory reset in twrp but i guess you wiped the system partition too
thanks guys! it seems I solved the problem through further use of google
I just reflashed the rom that I was previously on with TRWP and everything works now woot!

Bad situation, need some help. Only TWRP on phone nothing else.

OK.
So I'm going to sell my G-Flex. I thought I would just flash it to stock with my .tot file that I have used before. Bad idea it seems when I had custom recovery installed (TWRP).
Now I have a phone with only TWRP on it as LG Flash Tool just wiped and did not flash when it noticed the custom recovery. So now I don't even have fastboot just the recovery. So I can't install the stock recovery as I have no fastboot.
However if I enter "backup" in TWRP it shows only my data is 0mb. The rest seems normal with a /system that is 1690mb and modem and cache seems present. Just no data.
My situation would be better if I had a backup? Well. I don't anymore.
Is there an obvious way I have missed that can fix the phone easily? Tried flashing the MIUI ROM for starters (even though it's missing /system) but I always get error that it can't mount /data , /mpt and /storage and I count mount them in the settings in TWRP.
So all I can get in to is download mode (which I can't flash my .tot from now) or TWRP that is the only thing that boots automatically at every boot.
I had the same problem last week when I tried to install a custom font through Rom Toolbox. ( I was boot looping and could not get computer to recognize device in download mode. Could only get into TWRP) Unfortunately, I had no backup through TWRP that I could restore.
I was finally able to get my Flex up and running by downloading D-Fuse's stock 4.2.2 zip to a flash drive. ( A piece of advice... use a download accelerator on your pc. Otherwise your download could take HOURS. I used "DAP")
I then plugged my flash drive into my phone using a USB OTG cable. Mounted the USB/OTG In TWRP. And flashed the zip from there.
I'm now running smooth. You'll have to re-root and run Freedom Flex again to install TWRP as the stock zip will replace your custom recovery with the stock one. Make a new backup in case you have more issues in the future.
Hope this helps.
Thanks I'll look into it when I get home from work today. Though I have no flash drive for it nor cable.
I can ADB my phone while in recovery and push ROM files to the sdcard. Problem is that I have pushed stock ROM zip 4.4 and tried to flash but it always fails to mount data and mpt for some reason when flashing. Not sure flashing from USB would make a difference.
I know I have myself to blame but this phone has given me a few headaches. I'm just tired of it and might as well cut the loses if things gets too complicated as I plan on using my Nexus 5 anyway from now on.
No matter I fixed it just now. It worked to flash with LG Flash Tool this time. I changed its "action mode" from upgrade dl to board dl and it flashed just fine. Felt a little adventurous there for a while.
I have never had an issue with the flash tool writing over TWRP. But try the LG PC Suite software your phone loaded on your PC. Or download it from lg.com. and open it then at top select mobile devices. Put phone in download mode and then under mobile devices select option restore upgrade errors. That has restored my phone the last 12-15 times I've f#$ed it up. It doesn't seem to have an issue regardless what is modded or added to the phone. Custom recovery or not it works great for me. And youll be unroofed stock out the box with the latest version as well. Bit it will reformat your whole phone. Erases everything. So hope you've backed up to PC already.

I have done that a few times by mistake I would download the rom on a thumb drive and use my otg cable to plug it in flash it from the thumb drive in recovery.
You can also side load it as well, yet I have never done it that way so you would have to search that.
I have also read some say download the rom to your pc and and plug in phone and drag the rom to your sdcard.
If all else fails you can always return to stock via rsd or mfastboot as long as you can get into download mode.
Thanks a lot for your prompt response. I am having Moto x 2013 edition and tried to flash CM11 ROM using thumb drive in recovery mode but the "failed" message was coming , is it a compatibility issue of ROM with My device? As i told that i am new to all these things can you please guide me or share with me a link for any good ROM which i could flash on my Moto x and make it functional again.
Also if i want to get back to my stock ROM i.e. Kitkat 4.4 then how to do it? will i be able to update to lollipop in future?
Sorry for asking so many questions and thanks again for your support.
It sounds more like you should flash your phone back to stock and leave it there until you understand what you're doing. With the number of guides available anymore, the entire flashing process should be dead simple and difficult to mess up. Add to the fact that wiping/formatting partitions always prompts for confirmation before actually deleting things, and it shows that you don't really have any knowledge about what is going on. Keeping your phone stock until you do know what you're doing is only going to save you from having a paperweight in the long run.
Thanks a lot!!!! with your support i am able to flash my phone on cyanogen12
Thanks agian...

Bricked my Xperia T when flashing new ROM

EDIT: I managed to flash stockrom via flashtool, I didn't do anything different so I can't really help others with the same problems, I just kept trying.
But I can tell you the root of all the mess I did: Neowave ROM requires unlocked bootloader, which I didn't had. I'm still curious why it messes up everything and not only /boot
and /system, but I'm glad that everything works again.
So I managed to (hopefully soft)brick my phone again when flashing new rom. (from Omega to Neowave)
What I did:
-flashed new recovery (Philz Touch recovery)
-wiped /system
-flashed new rom, gapps minimal, aosp calendar sync addon and supersu update (all without rebooting)
-then I rebooted the phone, screen was black, no LED, only a vibrate at the beginning.
-PC detects it as SEMC flash drive, the phone automatically disconnects and then reconnects again after ~1min
-Repair with Sony Companion didn't work, it just said that there is no software for my phone
-adb devices said there are no devices
-I can't enter recovery or fastboot, only fastboot worked twice but I disconnected the phone because the Sony Companion said so
Additional info:
-rooted
-locked bootloader
What should I do now?
I wanted a new clean rom because the old one was so damn laggy and had many problems and high battery drain, and I'm going on a vacation
in 2 day so I'm in a hurry. I don't have a 2nd phone because this is already my 2nd (lost my LG G2 2 weeks ago..)
I hope u understand my struggle and take your time to help me, thanks in advance)
NO surrender

When a mistake is always better to return to the " factory " ROM before trying again . I recommend using flashtool . through fastboot , put his boot.img and then a flash the stock rom
I have a TX, roms and testing step that you like . but if the PC recognizes there is hope.
I'm using the google translator . : P
