Hi all.. I tried to change bootanimation in my phone, by moving file to /system/media, in CM12, AICP, BrokenOS, and many other LP ROMs. In all of them it never worked. I was successfully able to change bootlogo.. but never boot animation.
Any help??
Did you change permissions to rw-r--r--/chmod 644?
Did you rename file to "bootanimation.zip"?

But I don't find any tutorial that explains how to change bootanimations in stock roms.
Try here

I got the desired result on top why can't you
I delete "samsungani" file from system/bin/
I renamed "bootanimation" file from "system/bin/" to "samsungani"
I copy "bootanimation.zip" in "system/media/" , and the animation steel dont work.
you must be doing something wrong or the bootanimation is not created properly
to check if bootanimation is OK type su then samsungani in terminal if the bootanimation is played the bootanimation is OK and if not thenin boot animation something is wrong
I tried this bootanimation ( i attached it), but when I type in the terminal emulator "su and then samsungani" it playsa part of an old bootanim. ( not the stock one, the first custom one that I tried). I dont know why he do this. In media folder I have just the bootanimation arhive that I atached here.

I'm trying to get custom boot animations working on a stock deodexed ROM. What I've done so far is in /system/bin: deleted "samsungani" and then renamed "bootanimation" to "samsungani". This got rid of the Samsung boot animation in place of the Vanilla Android one and this works fine (although it is rather crap!).
However if I place any custom boot animation at /system/media/bootanimation.zip it works, but it just plays indefinitely and fails to disappear once the Android interface has loaded. I've tried editing the animation settings inside the zip file. I've also tried a boot animation pulled straight out of the Simplicity v2.1 ROM's zip file which doesn't work either, so it is obviously not a problem with the actual bootanimation.zip as that one must be preconfigured to work on an S5830i.
I must need to change something else but I have no idea what? I tried deleting "bootsamsungloop.qmg" "bootsamsung.qmg" from /system/media which done absolutely nothing.
Bump: I think custom ROM developers should know the answer to this or anyone else please?
EDIT: I worked it out. If anyone wants to know, forget about what I said in the first post. It seems that /system/bin/samsungani is modded in ROMs with custom boot animations as there is a difference in file size. So just overwrite your samsungani with the modified version from a ROM's zip file that has a custom boot animation, such as Simplicity v2.1. Then put your bootanimation.zip in /system/media and that's it.
To remove/replace the boot animation sound the file is /system/etc/poweron.ogg, delete it or replace it.
I always tried to use custom bootanimations on my I9000B running CM10.1, but it never changed, it went straight to that blue android logo.
Yesterday I was exploring the flashable .zip for the ROM and I've found where the bootanimation .zip is stored.
What happens if in the flashable ROM .zip I change the bootanimation to other and flash onmy device? Will the bootanimation change?
Question is answered, it works, changing the bootanimation file in the flashable .zip and then flashing the ROM.
Hi.
Another way is that you peak bootanimation (bootanimation.zip file) from any ROM and file that you want and replace it with root explorer on your ROM and reboot your phone.
It's Work
Hi guys.
I had made a boot animation for all stock based rooted roms.
You just need to:
Extract the file from zip given below.
Change the file name to start.mp4
Replace the start.mp4 file with this file.(system/media/)
Change permission to rw-r-r.
Then reboot.
That's it.
Add more boot animations

Will do. Once I get enough time.
Im trying to change my boot animation manually by accessing /system/media and replace the original zip file. I already renamed the new and old file with bootanimation.zip and bootanimation.zip.bak, respectively. And lastly, change the permission of the new zip file with rw-r--r-- but for some reason, it wont work. My phone wont recognized the new boot animation and would just skip it entirely. Does anyone know the problem and how to fix it? The original boot animation does work if i revert back the original.
Currently running pixel experience 8.1
Update: it seems that custom boot animation only works with pixel style boot animation. i tested dark theme pixel boot animation and it works but other than that, no other custom boot animation works.
