I'm new to AT&T builds (usually do unlocked international) and unfortunately my kernel is already patched for the ping vulnerability. What would be the best tweaks/changes/disables/removes one could make to tame the bloatware on a stock non-rooted phone?

Anything that is "disableable" EXCEPT FOR the Samsung Account app. Disabling that causes a lot of problems, namely: no access to Themes, no access to the Galaxy Apps store, no ability to use any Samsung apps that require logins - and you can't fix that without factory resetting.
Otherwise, I just disabled everything that I don't use, which is most of the pre-installed apps that are able to be disabled.

It was rooted before but running stock ROM. I have superuser on there + I removed some of the bloatware (anything sprint related really).
After factory resetting, I didn't bother reflashing the original rom because I can't find it but I still have superuser, is that normal?
And also, if I sold this Tab, will the next user be able to activate it without problem? (i.e. without the sprint apps which I assume isn't required.)
Hello, Is there currently anyway to remove the unwanted stock apps that I do not want like facebook, twitter, stocks etc.? or can it only be done by rooting the phone and installing custom firmware?
I am on standard stock Android 4.2.2 in the UK. Unlocked on O2 network.
Thanks
I dont know if you can remove them without rooting, but you can disable them thus freeing up the memory, you can do this in settings/apps then click on the app you want and click disable.

you don't need to install a custom-rom, but you need root. then you can install titanium-backup and remove every app you want to. but be careful you don't delete important apps for the system
Facebook and twitter should be able to uninstall normally. apps such as stocks could work by disabling them in the apps settings, or alternatively you could just hide them from the app drawer, make sure you turn the auto refresh options and stuff on those apps
Ok I've got my Rogers Samsung S5 Active unlocked, and confirmed by Root Checker and I've installed SuperSU Pro.
I rooted it via this particular method I read at
theunlockr
It reboots and functions as normal, however when I attempt to utilize SuperSU it says that KNOX is installed, it then allows me to dissable which I do and it remarks successful.
What I want to know is what do I do to remove ROGERS craptastic apps, and keep them off, what do I use to get in and modify some of the parameters of the phone, like CPU speed and so forth?
If there are any decent fully working ROM's for a newbie like myself, I'd be happy to throw a go at using one.
Any help with getting the absolute MOST from my device would be appreciated.
Thanks for reading
RW
Go to the play store and search for root. You'll find a lot of apps for tweaking the S5. You have many choices for a ROM because you have an unlocked bootloader. I think you can use the latest AOSP or Cyanogen mod, or if you want to set up safestrap your can run the Dynamic Kat ROM found here. That ROM has an assistant app that lets you tweak a whole lot of things all from the app.
banking app, not baking app, f**ks sake
Hello there. I have been using stock android 7.1.1 for a while and decided to try using roms again (Pure Nexus). One of the apps that i need is "Vipps" its a Norwegian banking app used to transfer money to friends and stuff, but its notorious for finding root. I used to use xposed and root cloak on android 6, but i know well it dosent work with 7. Magisk dosent hide it, suhide dosent hide it.
After installing Vipps it rejects opening promting me with "Vipps does not support rooted devices". Only thing is its running a ROM that comes with no root.
- Cheers, Kristiansja
edit: root checker doesn't find annything either

Go into the root settings and remove root. Mind you this cause some of the features of the rom to stop working. Apps like that are not only looking for root but also for unlocked bootloaders. So if those apps are important to you then might want to stick to a fully stock set up and relock your bootloader.

Go into developer option and turn off USB debugging. After that, reboot the phone and see if Vipps is working. If that doesn't work, I have one more suggestion.
It's probably checking ro.build.tags and/or ro.build.type. These are set to test-keys and userdebug on PN (if I remember correctly) and some apps need them to be set to release-keys and user. It could also be looking for other prop values and possibly also busybox (also included in PN, I believe).
Or BusyBox...

So I was disabling (not uninstalled) a few apps I didn't use on my rooted S9 with Alexis ROM v1.7 (which was working extremely well).
I do not have Samsung account, and do not use S-Pay (or any payment apps). So I disabled Samsung payment Services" and phone immediately locked, and said "Phone Locked" on lock screen and "payment app was removed without authorization." I could not type in password, no options on lock screen. Tried to dirty re-install of Alexis Rom 1.7, no luck. Had to clean install rom. :/
That's why you should disable instead of removing apps.
what do you do? can you reflash stock rom with odin? or it became a brick?

Should be possible to re-enable via ADB then right?

No idea!
They said they fixed it by clean installing the rom.
Had the same problem. Fixed it by moving all Apps again to their place. Need to find out which of the Apps I'm not allowed to remove.
Samsung is really a pain in the ass!

Yeah, and boy do I wish I'd thought of that. I disabled Payment Services on a Galaxy A70 via Titanium Backup -- poof, instant total lockout. Instead of thinking smart (at least trying adb) I reinstalled the firmware, re-twrp'd, re-rooted, and then the whole setup and apps installs again.
