PSA: 5.1 Trusted devices / face unlock - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo Q&A, Help & Troublesh

I saw a few posts about the loss of face unlock in 5.1 but stumbled on to it in trying to find out where trusted device settings went.
In the Security settings at the bottom there is an option for 'Trusted Agents'
Within that you need to enable 'Smart Lock'
That creates a new 'Smart Lock' section within the Security settings page
That contains trusted devices and face unlock but also adds location, carry and other unlock options as well.

Thanks for the info, I really like the unlock features especially in the at home mode.

Thanks for posting, I stumbled upon this myself after a while, but at first I thought Verizon had pulled the feature.

Thanks for posting this

Thanks, Face unlock works again.

Enabling the Hidden Developer Settings in Android 4.2

What i read today here: http://androidheadlines.com/2012/11...-in-android-4-2-youll-need-these-to-root.html
Google has done something in Android 4.2 that is good for some of their older users. They have hidden the Developer settings. For most of their older users, they don’t need these, and might turn them on by mistake and play with them if they are in plain sight. So Google has hidden them to keep that from happening.
When you go into settings, you’ll notice no Developer settings. So here’s how you get around that:
Tap Settings
Tap About Phone
Tap the Build number 7 times, yes 7 times.
Voila! You’ve got developer settings again.
So that’s that. But if we didn’t tell you, you may never have found it. You’ll also need this to unlock the bootloader and to root your device. We’ll be putting up some more Android 4.2 and Nexus stuff over the next few weeks so stay tuned.

This is smart
By all means, its a good idea; but does that mean there no easter egg in 4.2?! I like flicking jelly beans!!
Hello,
This isn't development. Also, this thread already exists in our General section

626vzn , No option to allow bootloader unlock in dev-settings.

Absolutely no option to allow oem unlocking in settings, tried everything i could think of to enable through adb interface and it keeps telling me to enable unlocking. im very familiar with the boot loader unlock process for htc devices and know this model is unlockable. i thought maybe the unlocking option only comes with the payment for verizon phone service but that cant be true because ive unlocked my verizon desire 610 and 620 and theyre both black listed from verizon , i do not understand. is there an ota update that adds the unlocking option ? is there anyway to enable it through a different interface? this is driving me nuts. ive only found one other reference to this problem in all the webs search results but there are ten how to guides depicting how to enable dev settings, tick allow unlocking and type one line of code with pictures and links to htc with even more detailed instructions than the first set lol.
there is no movement on the Verizon 626.. any root guide out there doesn't match possible options.. there are a number of people here on it, myself included.. sit n be patient.. it sucks..

OEM Unlock option grayed out in developer options.

Is there anyone for whom the OEM Unlock option in developer options is not grayed out?
So far from my research, it's always grayed out, so I'm trying to gather information about it, and see if there are any situations in which it is not grayed out.
Tested so far:
European Mate 20 Pro - Grayed out, so bootloader can't be unlocked with code.
Demo Mate 20 Pro - Grayed out, so bootloader can't be unlocked with code.
Chinese Mate 20 Pro - No such option, so bootloader can be unlocked successfully.
i thought it was huaweis new policy to not allow anyone to unlock the BL
Will the Mate 20 Pro sell in Southeast Asia to be grayed out too? Hopefully not, since I wont upgrade my Mate 10 Pro to this flagship if I cannot root the device (fully owned the device system).
Hmm this is a concern to me. As much as this device is amazing, root at the very least is important let alone custom roms! Hmm
**** this is a serious problem !! if they all start to block the bootloader is a real peoblema!
What do you guys root for? Genuine question, I'm sure you have valid use cases, I've just never had a need to.

Macrodroid (for automation tasks etc.), system wide ad blocking (directly mod the hosts file without any battery draining app or vpn), titanium backup for app backups, uninstalling system apps/debloating, system app/user app themes (black, making most of that oled screen). Shortcutter, as app that adds loads more quick settings.
With magisk manager, custom modules such as vanced YouTube and the amazing viper4android a system wide equaliser. Some developers create custom performance/battery enhancement scripts that vastly improve stock performance. Plus some custom features roms have app ops which greatly allows app level permission.
Not to mention custom roms with additional features bringing to the user experience. But I'm fearful at present!
I'm awaiting the Mate 20 Pro arriving on Friday and listed my Pixel 2 XL for sale. I've messaged @topjohnwu who seemingly may be the only person who could help with making root possible. But with the bootloader unlock situation this may prove rather difficult. Especially given hearing about the greyed out OEM unlock option, but perhaps full retail releases will allow it, here's hoping anyways....

try with this solution!
You have to reset your device while the sim card is in the device , then in the setup you have to log in to your both google and samsung accounts , then wait 7 days , and it should appear , if it doesnt appearing simply use google to check how to fix the missing OEM Unlock option
I remember the days with the Xperia Z3, where the bootloader was also locked. Still it was possible to unlock it after someone found a way. We know that nothing is secure, so I hope for out great developers to fix this in the future!
Or do you think it will be simply imposssible without the Code?

See attached for my email conversation with Funky Huawei.
Seems that so long as we can check that setting then perhaps they can generate an unlock code with our IMEI number. I've used their service before for firmware flashing, they're reputable.
Just hope it's possible....
We can now offer bootloader unlock codes for all Huawei models (including recent models like P20, P20 Pro, Honor Play, and so on.)
These unlock codes can be provided for free to customers who purchase an unlimited pass from today.
See details here:
So we would just need a hack that enables the tick in developer options.

I guess so yeah, but also I remain hopeful that perhaps retail devices (as opposed to the early release ones that people seem to have early) may have the option....
@BurningRain, you have a retail verison, can please check if you can tick/untick the OEM unlock option in the developer settings?

On older huawei devices (Honor9, Honor10, HuaweiP20), I noticed after the device is totally erased (low level format, cache wiped and settings to factory defaults) : you had to connect to internet to get the OEM Unlock option to not be greyed out.
So maybe it will be enabled on huawei's server side in a few days...

I'm guessing you meant 'google playstore account' by 'samsung account'...
Did you enable it yourself on your Mate 20 Pro ? which cust variant ?
Interesting...
Just watched this video:
4 Reasons I SWITCHED to the Huawei Mate 20 Pro | The Tech Chap
And at 3:10 I noticed that the option (on his presumably prelease device, given he is from the UK but has a 2 pin charger and not UKL 3 pin) is greyed out and interestingly says "connect to the internet or contact your network provider" under the OEM unlock option - see attached screen snip
Hmm.....!

Yes, I have the phone in Spain and I have the same message in oem unlock

Is Samsung 's Find My Mobile available on the Verizon Note 9?

Hi,
I setup my Samsung Account and it says under services that I have Find My Mobile.
I go to the find my mobile website and login and it has my 2 other Galaxy Tab Tablets listed but not my phone.
I look at setup tutorials and the say goto lock screen and security but my settings has a "Lockscreen" and a "Biometrics and Security" sub menu.
Under the Biometrics and Security there is a Find My Device which is set to on and when I tap that I get a page that has the slider for on and below it it says ways to locate device:
options are:
Find my Device
get it on google play
Web
Visit android.com/finf
Google Search "find my Device"
What is going on?
I am a little freaked out.
As I understand it if you use lock like pattern lock that through Samsung's Find My Mobile site you can reset the login if you run into trouble. I almost did run into trouble right after I finish setting the Note 9 up after 3 hours, I restarted it when I put in my Memory Card and my pattern was not working. Got to where I had 3 tries left. I turned it off reset the sim card and the memory card in the holder and it worked. There have been other times where it did not recognize the pattern once or twice but did finally. Not sure if with the curved screen my hand was touching the screen and that caused a problem or what but. I need the phone locked and I need Samsung's Find My Mobile with it's unlocking feature for piece of mind.
One article on seting it up a comment said they were told it was not available on the Verizon version. True not true?
What am I doing wrong to set it up.
I had lookout installed but removed that.
I also have Teamviewer Host and the Samsung Host Plugin for Teamviewer installed is that interfering?
I need a fallnback way to unlock if the initial one fails.
Thank You.
