[Q] Root 5.1.1. - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6

Is there an actual root that works for this? I want to run a custom rom and be able to use Titaniaum Backup again.

Yes, just Odin the unikernel from the unifed dev forum. After that you can use TWRP manager to flash TWRP. 5.1.1 ROMs are limited at the moment. I'm hoping someone will make a debloated TMo one. I unfortunately rely on wifi calling quite a bit so I need something TMo based instead of the international ROMs

Hey, i have done some hunting around but have not found anything. I am looking for a compatible firmware version that will allow me to flash a custom rom. i have tried a few roms for this phone but all came up saying that its not the right firmware. Is there anyone that has successfully flashed this firmware and running a custom rom. Mainly looking at cyanogenmod, or a 4.4 version that is stable with full functionality

Have you actually rooted the phone so you can load custom roms?

Post does not make sense .
firmware does not flash a custom rom and plays no part in the custom rom you choose .
The only difference is in network access where you may need to change modem .

[Q] Cant flash ROMS from stock 4.2

I have newly acquired a samsung s4 active with 4.2 stock. I couldn't OTA upgrade or manually (keeps failing halfway through), couldn't flash 4.4 ROM through recovery, and couldn't do backups through ROM manager and recovery 3.0+
At this point i'm not sure what i should do. i'd like to set my phone up and forget it.. but nothing is really going easy for me. is this because of the s4 active recovery? why is it so hard to change that darn 4.2 stock rom?

It depends on which version of the phone you have. If you have the i9295, then it really shouldn't be that hard to do what you are asking about. If you have the i537 then you can't really do anything you're asking about because it has a locked bootloader. If you have the i537 you need to check out SafeStrap.
i believe i do have the i537. is there a thread i can check out to help with getting started on custom recovery roms etc?

The i537 has a locked bootloader which means you cannot install a custom recovery or any other kernel. Your only option is to use SafeStrap along with 4.2.2 TouchWiz-based ROMs. Read more about SafeStrap here and a list ROMs that will work with SafeStrap here.
Because of the locked bootloader you will not be able to use CyanogenMod, any CM-based ROM, or any AOSP-based ROM. The only ROM I like using that is different than the stock ROM is the 4.2.2 GPe. Do some reading before you try SafeStrap, otherwise you could brick your phone pretty easily.

[q] a less than intelligent queston regarding leaked update and offcial with flashing

Okay, I am new to this locked bootloader and safestrap stuff so please bare with me.
I am on an official 4.4.2 NC2 rooted Att Note 3.
The question is: Can I install the roms that are based off the leaked firmware? It seems pretty stupid but ooooh well.
I assume I can since the leaked update is still "signed" or whatever it is called.

Hey,
If you heard of any success stories why not? The only thing, if someone unlocked the bootloader tomorrow (Which i don't see happening anytime soon), you might be locked because with every firmware, I feel they try to lock down the device more, so if someone is close, you might be stuck!
Since you're on NC2, if it is based on the NC2 you should be fine, just make sure you backed up everything. Because I had an issue with restoring to stock NC2 read thread below.

You can always make a slot and install the rom without touching the stock. Safestrap should not modify your modem and firmware "Odin does".

Installed Sky High kernel, no internet.

Hey everyone, I'm kind of new to Android overall, so pardon me if I missed some kind of detail.
My phone version is the SM-N920I, and after flashing recovery and the sky high kernel, my internet kind of stopped working on the phone.
Before successfully flashing the kernel, I got into some kind of boot-loop after flashing the recovery.
I read here http://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/help/note-5-bootloop-stuck-os-t3197023/page2 that I could just install the noble kernel.
I found the noble kernel and how to install it through this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...easy-steps-n920t-aoge-odin-twrp-root-t3187422
Got it working, then decided to just flash it to sky high since it's supposed to have good support on gear VR.
While everything seemingly works, I can't connect to the internet. I'm on Cricket mobile.
Wi-fi of course, works but that won't save me when I need GPS or something.
Any help would be appreciated!
EDIT: I am stupid. APN settings were wiped, that was my issue.

I gather you have the Korean variant "L" ?
When asking for help, you should always post as much information as possible, including your ROM, bootloader and modem (baseband) versions. This can be found easily by just viewing the INFO section on Synapse.
After this, maybe you could post me your LATEST stock boot.img so I can compare the ramdisk to what I'm using from the "S". Maybe something needed in the default.prop. You can download the full stock firmware from sammobile.com or samsung-updates.com. Please also state the firmware version you extracted the boot.img from.
If you're using the "i" variant, I haven't any reports in thread.
Cheers

Thanks for the reply. I'm on the "i" variant.
ROM I'm just using the StockyMOD found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/development/mod-v1-0-stockymods-t3254588
Baseband version is N920IDVU1AOH3
Bootloader version is N920IDVU1AOH6
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by posting my latest stock boot.img. If I look up my bootloader on the websites you provided me, the phone is from Singapore, so I'm guessing the latest version would be N920IDVU2AOJD. But I really have no clue, sorry.
I've tried using some other kernel like the arter97 kernel and the internet doesn't seem to work there either. So I'm guessing something must have went wrong when I flashed that Noble Kernel that was supposed to be for T-Mobile. Calling and texting works, it's just internet that doesn't work.

Droid Turbo Issue - Need Some Help

I have a Droid Turbo already rooted with BHB27's Oreo ROM, works awesome. So I got my son the same phone and went about trying to root it and install the same ROM. I had software bricked it but used RSDLite and got a stock ROM installed and now I can boot into Marshmallow. But now the wi-fi doesn't work. I have tried flashing different radios and modems with no luck. I need the wi-fi to work so that I can download sunshine and connect so that sunshine can root. Any advice on how to get the wi-fi working? It might be the wrong stock ROM, but I can boot it. It was previously on Marshmallow 6.0.1 prior to all of this so if anyone has a link to the correct stock ROM I can try and flash it. I have downloaded so many "stock" ROMS I'm not sure which was is the proper one.
Thanks for any advice. Any questions just ask.
