The nexus image site has two builds listed for 5.1.1:
5.1.1 (For Sprint, USC ONLY) (LMY47Z)
5.1.1 (For T-Mobile ONLY) (LYZ28E)
I'm assuming Verizon users fit under whatever USC is?
Also, I'm coming from build LMY47D - can I flash LMY47Z or do I have to first flash LMY47E, then LMY47I before LMY47Z?
Thanks!
I think it's for TMobile only. It's weird that I just got the update notification on my TMobile N6 though I have an AT&T SIM.
Yeah, I got the OTA alert for 5.1.1 but I'm on Verizon... Only to find there is no Verizon build?
It appears OTA's are going out depending on what build you're currently on. If you're LMY47I or LMY47D you'll get the OTA to LMY47Z. If you're on LMY47M then you'll get LYZ28E.

I was on 5.1 LMY47D. Been rocking 5.1.1 LMY47Z since last week, no issues.
I flashed Z international 5.1.1 on my vzw phone when it came out with the radio bootloader and rom, it works fine. I don't wait for updates that's stupid. We have nexuses. go out there and get it. any rom bootloader or radio works with any nexus device, branding doesn't matter.

The question of LMY47Z being for Verizon depends on how you want to look at it.
Officially, Verizon's current build is 5.1/LMY47E. That is the build that ships on new phones sold by Verizon. Further, the Android 5.1 OTA that was sent to non-VZW Nexus 6s with Verizon SIM cards was 5.0.1/LRX22C -> 5.1/LMY47E. So, unless you've played with manual flashing, or you switched to Verizon after receiving an Android 5.1 OTA on another carrier, your phone should be running LMY47E.
Currently there is no OTA to bring you from LMY47E to any 5.1.1 build and there won't be until Verizon approves it. Once Google gets technical approval from Verizon, the OTA update will be from LMY47E to some other build. That "some other build" might be LMY47Z, or it may be something else entirely. We have no way of knowing right now.
With that said, the fact that you created this thread in the first place means you're most likely willing to tinker with your phone by unlocking your bootloader and flashing factory images. LMY47Z works just fine on Verizon, but there's no way to know for sure if it's going to be the "official" Verizon build or not. Only time will tell. If you're that impatient and a 0.0.1 version number bump means that much to you, then just flash LMY47Z manually and be done with it.
Personally, my Nexus 6 is sitting on LMY47E and I'll just wait it out. I maintain OTA archives so I'm leaving my phone on LMY47E so that I can get the URL to the OTA file whenever it becomes available. There's nothing in 5.1.1 that I can't live without for another month.

Ah I probably should have prefaced my post with the following points:
bought the n6 from the play store before verizon was selling it
unlocked the bootloader and rooted it the second after I opened the n6 box
I flash the individual files from the official nexus images, since I can't use OTA updates once unlocked
I received the 5.1.1 OTA notificaiton, which prompted me to look into flashing the new image, only to discover several for different carriers
I hadn't flashed an update since much earlier in the year, and was a bit surprised to see how the images were now broken out by carrier. It seems like it really doesn't matter all that much, but it was somewhat confusing. I wasn't expecting major updates from 5.1.1, but I have noticed improved battery life, even if there are no major functional improvements. I appreciate your detailed analysis though, as you've managed to explain why verizon isn't mentioned with the available images.

When you got the 5.1.1 OTA, I'm guessing you weren't on LMY47E, right? You must have been on D, I, or M.

Yeah, per my original post I got the 5.1.1 OTA from D. I may have been a build or two behind because I haven't received any OTA notification since much earlier in the year.

The LMY47D and Z are coupled (EU). To find out
I did not flash a new factory image but waited for the OTA message 5.1.1.
After the update my N6 shows LMY47Z.
I did not expect that because Z is labeled 'For Sprint USC Only'. I am in the Netherlands, provider T-Mobile.
LMY47Z will be just fine for Verizon.
The only concern you might have is the Radios or VoLTE.
1) For radios, just flash a radio http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/ref-nexus-6-modem-collection-t2969380 for verizon 47E (the ... .98R version) you can compare with the one that 47Z had (i belive its ... .95R) and see which gives you the best signal all while on the LMY47Z build.
2) For VoLTE, some say LMY47Z works fine, you'll have to see (just make sure you enabled it on your account too), but 47E was the one built for VoLTE.
Its up to you which you want more, a newer build or certain verizon features. You may get to have both!
I flashed lmy47z on my verizon nexus 6, did a full flash with wipe. Has worked great. Took a few seconds to find the carrier in settings after first boot (showed ! as signal until it did). Once it identified as Verizon i was able to enable volte on the phone. No problems at all since.

Can someone else confirm this?
Yes, it works. One interesting note, though. LMY47Z does not download Verizon apps from the Play Store during initial setup like LMY47E does. That alone probably means that LMY47Z won't be the official Verizon build whenever the OTA happens

Cool Thanks! I finally got a nexus 6 today and ota'ed to LMY47z. I'm bringing it to verizon later for a nanosim. Testing my luck..haha
You won't have a problem. Verizon has all the N6 IMEIs in its database now. It'll show up on your account as "Nexus 6 Non VZW"

Finally verizon did something right for once. Glad to hear.
Just to add my experience to this... when I RMA'd my Nexus 6 from Motorola the new one came with LRX22C. I let it take the OTAs over WiFi before putting my SIM in and it went to LMY47D and then LMY47Z. I then put in my SIM and everything has worked fine.
Also, as noted in another post, on my old Nexus 6 I had flashed LMY47E and the Play Store automatically installed Verizon apps, but LMY47Z didn't do that.
I'm very concerned about this.
I just signed up to Tmobile all unlimited plan and I got a Nexus 6 directly from Motorola, not from T-mobile store, so I just inserted the Tmobile nano sim, my phone is totally unlocked.
Before I proceed to any flashing and do it by my own wihthout knowing if it will work, I want to know who has experience or has changed from LMY47Z to LYZ28E build
My phone is a
Nexus 6
Shamu XT1103 32GB P3A0
Lollipop 5.1.1
Stock
Rooted,
Baseband version: MDM9625_104446.01.02.101R
Kernel version 3.10.40-geec2459
Build number: LMY47Z
Custom TWRP
It seems that doesn't have the wifi calling stuff on any of my options, I could not find any about wifi calling options, I read somewhere that I need to install the LYZ28E build to make it work with WIFI Calling.
Can I flash LYZ28E stock version on my current Nexus 6 build: LMY47Z even when I did not buy the nexus 6 from Tmobile?
Shall it work fine with all other carriers as AT&T, Movistar, etc with LYZ28E?
I have read that LMY47Z is sprint build version, but it works great on AT&T, Telcel and Movistar (Mexico), I have not tried on CDMA carriers yet.
I read that whether you change the OS build version comes with different radios, etc and I don't know whether shall affect other carriers as AT&T, Movistar or Telcel if you later on I want to swap nano sims, because that's what I do, I always swap swims when I'm in USA or Mexico.
Using Wugs Fresh tool to proceed to these changes first I need to go back completely to stock rom + unroot and then flash new build that should be LYZ28E, Am I right?
Please advise about steps that I need to do and if it is possible to do on my Nexus 6 build number that I currently have
I appreciate it on advance!!!

Yes, if you want T-Mobile WiFi calling, flash LYZ28E or a custom ROM that supports those features. Yes, you can use any build on any carrier. I'm on Sprint and I have successfully used every build.

Awesome man!!!! thanks for fast response, take care, I will do it!
it works
Switched a nexus 6, purchased from verizon, running 6.0 (MRA58K), rooted, from verizon to t-mobile today 12-10-15 and the wi-fi calling feature in settings->more appeared. Went into airplane mode turned on Wi-Fi calling and successfully made a call and it sounded good.
Hello,
I still haven't got the 7.1.1 OTA update. Every month I keep getting the security updates for the 7.0 version. I checked my build version and compared it with the one mentioned on google's site and my version is NBD92D ( Mar 2017 ) which according to google is the build for ATT only. I am not using ATT , Infact I don't even have ATT in my country!
Does anybody else have this problem? Do I have to sideload the Image?
Yes, just sideload the image.

I do have the same problem, last night I received update and applied it, after that I've checked the version is also NBD92D(AT & T). My Nexus 6 is bought in HK but not HK official goods and sourced from Australia. However, I am not able to verify my Nexus 6 is not AT & T version and the only way is to trust the Google update program version check, luckily until now no problems notice on the phone.
In the meantime, I do also consider to update to 7.1.1 (N6F26U) but my phone does not popup any update on the system update check, and right now the N6F26U update is removed. Now I plan to wait and see any further action/update from Google on Nexus 6.
@mega23mac: The AT&T Nexus 6 has the Death Star logo on the back and has its service locked to that carrier. If you had one where you are, it wouldn't work at all if locked and if unlocked likely wouldn't get LTE. To verify the model, enter the bootloader. In your case you want to see model number XT1100 in the display.
With that out of the way, if you want the latest 7.1.1 on your device, go to Google's developer pages, download the latest OTA image, and flash it. Waiting for an OTA is pointless with a Nexus device.

That's the suspicious part, my Nexus 6 doesn't have the "Death Start" logo on the back, and I can get LTE, and I do see the model no. of XT1100 in the bootloader. But from the Settings > About phone > Build number, what i saw is NBD92D (the update is from OTA).
However, I am consider to flash the N6F26U as the Android Pay failure is not important to me as I use it not much.
Thanks, Strephon.

Google seems just remove the link but not the file, u can find the link from this forum easily. In addition, now Google release the link again.
Received a notification that the December Security update is available to download but when I check the patch notes it takes me to a Samsung SM-N950U1/VZW website.
I assume this is safe to download, but I'd like to avoid ending up with Verizon bloatware and whatever else comes with the Verizon rom.
Will downloading this update Verizon-ify my phone?
Build number is N950U1UES2BQL2
You've got a VZW SIM inside the device, that's why that comes up. If you replace VZW with SPR or TMO you'll get their specific page

Okay cool, so I'll still be installing the factory unlocked update?
I use Total Wireless (a verizon MVNO) and I can't get updates OTA. I just saw that there has been another security update rolled out (V405UA30b) and I cannot get it because it's for Android 10. Verizon's update utility says I'm up to date with V405UA20g. Anyone know why the utility still hasn't updated? Is there anyway to get the latest ROM?
I feel like Verizon gets slower and slower to update newer Android OS as the phone gets older.
Hope they get it done and sent out soon.
That is strange.
I have a sprint flashed with verizon rom and I got the lattest update (V405UA30b).

Strangely I did a factory reset and the update showed up on Total Wireless. So I guess it is possible to get verizon updates on MVNOs.
