You need to make sure you have Philz touch recovery installed on your phone. Do you have this installed? If not, how did you break your phone to begin with? What exactly did you do?

Do you have a custom Rom or recovery installed? Do you have locked/unlocked/relocked/security warning in bootloader? What version ruu did you install and did you see any error message?

Sent from my HTC Incredible S using xda premium
why is the term 'brick' used commonly.
wen your phone gets bricked, it's called so cos that's all its good for!
it wont start, boot, vibrate, flash lights, sing songs, nothing!
that's the stage wen the phone is good to throw against the wall

HTC One update gone bad

Hello,
I received from phone info that 4.4.2 update is ready for download, I let it download and when it asked me to update I said yes. After update, phone rebooted and I got picture with red triangle and exclamation mark.
What to do? I cannot wait for this to be fixed, nor I have time to wait for my operator to fix my phone, since this will last at least 2 weeks.
It can go to stock bootloader without problem!
How to flash original img to my phone, and let it on 4.1.x until they fix this?
Please guys help me with this...
If it is of any help, I had EU version of phone on Serbian Telenor network.
Cheers...

It was rooted, but I did returned it to stock, and it did get like 2-3 big updates till now without problem (one was 4.3.x as far I remember). It has S-On.
Any hope for me?

Hum, probably a bad flash and the solution it to flash it again, but i guess you can't since it was an OTA.
If you have a backup, you can try to hard reset it from the Bootloader and see if it works.
You could also unlock the bootloader, and flash a stock rom.
You have to google it, i'm sure some other had the same problem.
...so I can unlock my phone even with not entering the OS alone? Will try it tomorrow, cannot do it tonight too tired.

...I just noticed that I cannot install Stock RUU on my phone until I get hboot @ 1.44.

When it happened to me, I just held down the power button for a half a minute and rebooted to Android again and downloaded the OTA again(first time it asks you to install an update, you cancel it, because it's the data that's still downloaded from before and it's corrupted, then you download it again). No unlocking, no RUU flashing.
You just probably downloaded a corrupted OTA data, that's why you got the red triangle.

Unlock the bootloader. Then flash a custom recovery, and then a custom ROM

Problem is that I cannot enter OS at all... only Bootloader (Fastboot etc.), but when phone tries to boot it passes first screen and then stops at loading OS, that's where red triangle is.
Didn't find way to redownload it from bootloader, or am I missing something?

No,if you can't access Android OS, then you can either try to factory reset trough recovery. Maybe that helps.
If not,and if a service center is not an option, then you have to unlock your bootloader, flash the latest TWRP recovery(recommended, you can flash CWM instead) and then flash custom ROM.
How to unlock bootloader, check out this link,it's just above your topic...

...it seems that I cannot mount any of the thingies on my phone, I did unlock bootloader with htcdev, did install custom recovery the CWM, and I did sideload rom to my device, but now I have problem that it doesn't want to go pass the rom screen! ...and when I try to mount something in CWM I get errors, like "E:Can't mount /sdcard"! Good tutorial,I'm glad you found it and managed everything yourself:good:.
It's been a while since I S-offed,but I think Rumrunner will be the best if not the only choice for doing it. But check which firmware numbers are supported and which not, don't upgrade your phone too much:laugh:.

You are doing too much at a time:laugh:. Go slowly:laugh:.
What's your firmware number? Install a ROM that goes with your firmware number. For instance don't install Sense ROM if you have GE firmware installed.
When you get this right, S-off your phone and everything will be easier from there. And like I said, don't upgrade your phone to a too high version because not all versions of firmware are supported(I think so, I'm not sure).

Hehehe, moramo pričati tako, da nas svi razume:good:.
In English:laugh:. You have a 4.3 Sense firmware. You have to find a stock ROM of 4.3 Android that matches this firmware number.
Than go to Rumrunner theme and read instructions about how to S-off you phone. When you're done with S-off, you remove the tampered flag and lock you bootloader.
But first, install stock ROM and S-off with Rumrunner. Then we'll continue:good:.

[Q] HTC logo screen wont boot

I just got my HTC One less than a week ago and today it wanted to update to android software 4.3 I believe. I honestly dont know anymore cause I cant check. I downloaded the update and clicked install. It restarted and now has been stuck at the white HTC logo screen without quietly brilliant. It has been like that for almost 3 hours and actually died completely I plugged it up and let it charge and turned it back on and still stuck on this screen I even tried to factory reset with the power button volume down boot thing. Sorry im not smart with this stuff. When I did factory reset it went to a black screen with a green load logo then went back to this screen. Just made an account to post this someone please help. Thanks.

Hi, guys I need some help solving a little issue I have I unlocked my friends HTC One bootloader and then installed TWRP recovery and then CyanogenMod but I should have to S-OFF first ! What can I do ? Help me the CID is H3G__001 and there is no RUU available for it ...

No need for S-OFF. You should be fine with S-ON. The problem comes with returning completely to STOCK. If you're S-OFF you can completely revert it. With S-ON you will probably have a TAMPERED-flag left and you can only RE-LOCK your bootloader.

[Q] Please help I ****ed my htc one m7 up

Oh god oh god what do I do I'm freaking out
Something's gone horribly wrong with my htc.
I was running cyanogen mod but after having a few issues I decided to revert to stock sense.
So I used adb to relock my boot loader and downloaded ruu.
2 didn't work on my device I got a signature verification error
Now I am stuck in a bootloader at the top it says
Tampered
Relocked
Security warning
Il do an adb fast boot request in a second maybe someone here can help
ok update i can adb to it buy using fastboto devices
Ruu detecting it so thats something good i guess
il tell you what i can from the box and fastboot/bootloader screen
model:htc one 801n
**tampered**
**Relocked**
**security warning**

Flash TWRP 2.6.3.3 then use it to install this rom https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358545524
In the Aroma installer choose options
Stock Recovery = Yes
Stock Radio = Yes
Root = No
When its done reboot the phone. you should be back to stock. Also OTA updates should work

It will install stock with root if you install an OTA you will have to reroot afterwards.
Obviously if you select no to stock recovery you'll stay with TWRP but OTA installs will fail.
One last thing if you ever thought about going s-off do it before you use any OTA updates.
With hboot 1.56 and stock Rom you can s-off with rumrunner for free. If you update to hboot 1.57 the only method is Sunshine and it costs $25 :good:

You need s-off to go back to 100% stock. What was the error rumrunner gave.
It may be some time before I reply, I'm about to sit down to a meal

About the stock recovery, it's normal for it to go to a black screen. After a while it should display an image of a phone with red exclimation. That's normal too.
At this point hold volume up and press the power button to see the recovery menu. Ignore the errors about mount sd card that's also normal

It's totally up to you it depends how you feel about it. If the device still has warranty you will need s-off should you ever want to claim on it. It's also the reason I pointed you to the Stock reset rom rather than the RUU. Because the latest available RUU for your device has a lower firmware version than currently on the device. So you need s-off to use it.
But if your not that bothered then just go ahead and keep the device s-on. It just means that if you update the device and then later need s-off for some reason your only way will be Sunshine which you have to pay for. So i preffer to make people aware of it. But its totally up to you :good:
