This is my first post here, so I apologise if I make some mistakes of any sort .I have recently bought a LG optimus 2x and I am experiencing some problems with it .
The phone is not rootet and I haven't done any software modifications on it ( except installing apps )
The main problem is that the phone shuts down automatically( I know that there is another thread) but , unlike previous mentioned , mine shuts down quite rare ( like once in 4-5 days) but in random activities.
I.E: I was playing backbreaker thd for some time( like half an hour ) and the battery was > 50% . The phone shut down and I had the sensation it was slightly overheated.
Sometimes it shuts down when I plug it into the charger.( more like restarts , cause it displays the lg logon play and shuts down, then does that again).
At some point while I was travelling by train it was shutting down when I tried to call anyone
(battery at 30%).
Also sometimes it crashes when it does media scan / F-Secure scan , but if I start it the second time it works.
Should I take it to the warranty , or it's a software related problem, has anyone experienced this sort of problem?
Is it a software-related or a hardware-related problem, could it be fixed?

Hello and welcome. Yes I would take it back and get a new one as this is not normal. Depending on how the sales rep is feeling that day he may want you to prove something is wrong with it. I would cash in the warrantee now rather than regretting it later
This is a pain in the arse, I've had my Z1 for less then 24 hours and already had it 5 times as I change my display settings.
Screen is there just the backlight isn't switched on.

What firmware are you on? Yeah, it sucks to have issues on a brand new handset especially at this price! Try to check if there's update available. I'm currently on .531 and haven't had any SOD so far.

I'm on .518 and there isn't any updates for me. Z1 sim free unlocked.

If optimised backlight is switched off then it seems to happen anytime to change anything to do with brightness.

I have experienced this bug on multiple occasions as well since I first got the phone. The phone randomly goes to sleep but the backlight stays on. Then I am not able to unlock the phone by pressing the power button and I need to hard-reset it (vol up+power) to bring it back to life.
For me it happened once or twice already even with Optimized backlight checked
happened to me when i was trying to share a dinosaur effect photo in the camera app
I actually experienced the bug on a few occasions right now and can't see a pattern. It doesn't matter if I have optimized lightening on or other functions it will just randomly happen on different occasions.
I have just flashed the newest .534 firmware and soon after the same thing happaned again so I guess it has not been fixed as of yet.

Arrgh! I just experienced this screen bug . And this is for the first time in last 4 days of owning the phone. It occurred while the phone was lying on the table (battery 9%) & I picked it up to make a call, but the screen won't light up. Had to hard boot using vol up + power button. Have not touched the optimised backlight option (still checked). Hope sony fixes this asap!
DAMN ! I'm on 14.1.G.1.534 and I just got this ! it hasn't even been 24 hours yet since I bought this phone. terribly disappointed.this could be such a great device. hope it doesn't keep happening - Sony Xperia Z1 C9602 - wtf sony.

I've had this happen twice since been on 534 firmware and had to use the red button to force the device down. Very frustrating but I think Sony will sort it and all will be good.

i have just about had enough of sony to be honest, i cant believe this is the third sony device in a row where there is something wrong with it, i bought the xperia z tablet, the touch screen was way to sensitive until an update fixed it, i bought the z ultra and returned it because of the sod, and now this, i turned off my phone last night as i didnt want to be interrupted, try to turn it on this morning, the sony screen comes up, then a blank gray screen, rebooted it a few times with no luck, the last time i just left it and eventually it booted to the home screen
and just now, i opened the camera app, just get a black screen, open snapchat to see if the camera works there, nope, it says error with the camera please restart device, so i do, only to experience the sod again...
honestly, with my experiences with xperia, i have had enough, i can put up with mediocrity only for a bit, if i keep on putting up with this crap, it makes me look like a fool

Same here, terrible bug. Screen is actually there, but backlight won't turn on. I have to position phones screen towards the light source in order to go to the screen settings to uncheck optimised backlight option. If it is checked I have to uncheck it to get backlight to turn on and vice versa. Sony, fix that as soon as possible 'cause you got some pissed Xperia Z1 users here!
Im with a uk model and still on the original 518 version, and I've been playing it around for several days but no SOD issue

i using z1 with .534 also facing same problem for past a week. it is dead when phone calls in. have to hard reset too. come on sony, this is issue is not new. we need a solution.
mind you, the phone is not launch in my country but i manage to use it.

I am from India and using Z1 (C6902) and its been 3 days since using my phone and thank god, no SOD at all...
maybe since mine is C6902 thats why ... i dont know but no SOD here till now
I have noticed this bug after i rooted my z1. (root via kingo tool), before it was working ok.
So when power off button pressed, screen still active...
after some tries, i have disabled auto-brightness check box. its now more or less working.

You're buying products that are relatively new (except the Tablet Z) and expect no bugs at all? LOL I think you need to step back and look at the whole picture. To be honest Sony releases updates in a fast and consistent manner so you should be happy that do this. Even the Nexus devices have their share of bugs and always see people react like bugs do not exist. There will always be bugs and what you want from a manufacturer is to release fixes.
Hi, me too having this bug. I had this SOD twice since last 7 days. Had to do a hard reset both the times. Waiting for sony to fix it. I think its the jelly bean bug and not the Sony's firmware's bug but can be fixed, i think.
I am from india and on the latest fw. 534.
Please let me know if there is any solution to this available in the market. Thanks in advance.

hey guys, I bought my xperia sp c5302 2 weeks back and m loving this device.Recently,I have been facing a strange problem in which the touchscreen of my device fails to register my touch 70 percent times when kept on a horizontal surface and 30 percent times when holding it normally in my hands.I have tried many caliberation apps non of which worked.Although, I did notice that the problem gets fixed completely if i turn on the glove mode followed by a reboot.the problem re-appears after some hours when the glove mode is disabled.This is quite a common problem and I would like to know if any of you is facing this issue.This appears as a software problem to me but still, your opinions are welcomed.
Should I go to the service centre or if there is anything else that I can try.

Hi. You should try fix touch by 'Android Tweaker' - Tick 'Increase overall Touch responsiveness'. So why dont you keep gloves mode on, i have always on and its ok, no battery drain, nothing.

I'm writing this thread because my SP have a problem i have never seen.
About once per day, the screen freeze, takes stranges colours(like the white turn yellow and black turn grey or green) for about 5 seconds, then come back normally.
I know it's only the screen freezing because the sound works normally during the freeze.
I think this is not a software problem because it started when i was in Paranoid Nexus, i changed my ROM few times (PAC, CM11) and i'm actually on stock ROM and it's still having that issue.
Somebody know what this problem is ?

Hmm... for my sp there is exacly same probliem freeze and colour changes like contast geting bigger and bigger than all works normal and many times i get that probliem on many roms i think this is hardware probliem but as I can say just use phone this probliem is not so bad as its can be :good:
This is a known issue on Xperia SP and it is indeed a hardware problem. It happens a lot of times on my phone with varying intensity, sometimes screen fades very little and returns back to normal, sometimes it completely blackens out and restores itself.
I had a similar experience when I had the stock ROM, used to see weird colors and phone restarted. didn't have that issue on CM11 though.

My xperia z is showing this kind of distorted screen on some images, using every kind of applications.
It happen mostly when the battery isn't so charged. From 50% to 0%
Do you know which kind of issue could be this? Power, battery, motherboard or screen issue?
This is the very first time I see a problem like this.

Back to real world now. So anyone here know how android renders an image? Is it using gpu or only cpu to decode?
Same problem here, after update to lollipop my phone stopped overheat and this problem came.
I never thought this could caused by Lollipop. It's true that this began to happen after switching to Lollipop.
Do you think this issue could disappear going back to kitkat?

I don't think it Lollipop caused because I've just update to Lollipop and all things works just fine except sometimes phone get really hot (50 degrees celcius).
Is that distort image shows everytime or just when battery level below 50%?
Distorted text and images appears also on 100% charging but less than it is under 50% .the more you are close to 0 the more distorsions appears. It appears on the whole UI, not only on certain apps.
I think it is a power system issue, I' ve tried to change the battery but the situation doesn't change.

Well, i think that's hardware fault. I suggest you take it to sony service centre. Explain and show them your problem. Will be nice if still cover by warranty.

same problem here, I had the same problem when I first bought my xperia Z, so I sent it back to the seller who complained that I flashed the wrong firmware why I only did an OTA from 4.2.2 to 4.3 the phone was down graded back I have done several ota since I got it back I again noticed it when I updated to Kk but it was not frequent and only a small portion but when I did an update to lollipop it became very bad

I heat my phone with a hair dryer (mostly on the bottom of the phone) and the problem goes out. Is a temporary fix, works by 2 days
Any one got a fix for this? mine has become really bad i almost cant see a thing on the display anymore
