I have been testing the latest KINGOROOT (not Kingroot) root app and had 100% success every time with it on my T805. I performed the process a least 10 times with success every time.
To get root it is required to downgrade to a XXU1ANF8 Kitkat or earlier firmware. If you are already running this firmware skip to step 3.
Video footage is included at the end of this post.
NOTE: THE USUAL WARNINGS APPLY. IF YOU FOLLOW THIS PROCEDURE YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION.
1. If you are running Lollipop then downgrade to the stock firmware for your device as above with ODIN then boot into recovery and wipe/reset
THIS WILL WIPE EVERYTHING OFF THE INTERNAL STORAGE SO BACKUP YOUR STUFF FIRST!
2. Reboot and wait for the tablet to boot to Android. Do the usual setup or skip everything except wifi setup if you wish to upgrade to Lollipop afterwards.
3. Install KINGOROOT for Android then run it. After a short while you will hopefully have success. For me it quickly went to 40% then paused and then went to 95% and then paused for a while longer then said ROOT SUCCESS. No reboots.
4. YOU SHOULD NOW HAVE ROOT. DO NOT REBOOT AS THE ROOT IS ONLY TEMPORARY AS KNOX WILL BLOCK IT. YOU NOW NEED TO CONVERT TO SUPERSU
To convert to Supersu:
Install the Superuser apk and System app remover.
Supersu v2.49
System app remover
5. Run the Superuser app. Hit Continue and then Normal method to install the Super su binary. Wait for KingoUser to ask if you want to Grant root. Hit Grant . If you see a message pop up to disable Knox just hit cancel.
After a short while you should see that the su binary has been successfully installed. Hit OK, DO NOT hit Reboot. Run the Superuser app and make sure it starts ok then close it.
6. Now run the System app remover app and uninstall KingoUser(Now called Superuser in new version). You now have permanent root with Supersu and can now run it and disable Knox.
7. IF YOU WISH TO UPGRADE TO LOLLIPOP OR OTHER ROM THEN NOW REFER TO MY GUIDE BELOW FOR HOW TO PROCEED, STARTING FROM STEP 10:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/guide-how-to-root-tripping-knox-kitkat-t3129484

GOOD LUCK, PLEASE GIVE FEEDBACK :good:
.
Wow good to know! I cant believe you went ahead and actually downgraded that far just to try it xD

i tried you new mode i was on 5.0.2 T805XXU1BOD2 T805
I tried to downgrade to kitkat i use your suggested file from 1 page XSG-T805XXU1ANF8-20140625 with ODIN. in download mode.
after booting i get only black screen with samsung logo.
i tried to go to recovery as u said POWER + HOME + VOL UP then select WIPE DATA/RESET
but nothing happen , i stock on samsung logo with black screen for 5 minute
i went again to download mode by POWER + HOME + VOL DOWN and flash again with T805XWU1BOD3_T805OJV1BOD3_XSG
thanks god im back on Lollipop device is working now and did not asked mi to go to setting.
what was wrong with my steps?
can i do WIPE DATA/RESET - when im running Lollipot , then go to download mode and downgrade to kitkat?
or first i should go for flash kitkat , then reboot and WIPE DATA/RESET ?
after downgarde to kitkat normally the device will log to kitkat, and setting procedure ? or it stock on samsung logo and i should do POWER + HOME + VOL UP
when i see black screen with samsung logo, shall i do POWER + HOME + VOL UP? or first i should turn device off and do the POWER + HOME + VOL UP?
im sure i did something wrong
thanks for your help
You have to wipe data/reset when downgrading to kitkat.
You can do it first before downgrade then flash kitkat with Odin.

I really dont think you should be doing this procedure as you dont seem to understand what you are doing. XXU1ANF8 is the firmware build number, thats all that matters.

thanks bro for your kind help, and sorry if i made u angry from mi.:crying::crying:
i used this link as u advise:
1. Firstly you need to downgrade your device to a XXU1ANF8 or earlier firmware suitable for your particular model. This is available at http://samsung-updates.com/ or you can use this one XSG-T805XXU1ANF8-20140625 which is for the T805 model only.
but i did not now that Bulid number should be T805XXU1ANF8 not the baseband number
so im in correct frimware now as my BUILD NUMBER IS KOT49H- T805XXU1ANF8
Im going to root now, i think you will get headache from my dump Q when i done

Q before Root by KINGOROOT
1- if i want to stay on Kitkat after rooting, can i unroot any time? ( for warranty if something happen to device )
do i need any special program, or just flash by ODIN the stuck firmware, and root will gone?
2 - if i want to update latter on to Unroot version of Lollipop or higher firmware can i do it ?or i just i stuck on kitkat forever after rooting my kitkat?
3) after rooting to check my knox is 0x0x, shall i go to download mode to check it, or any program can tell mi?
sorry for headache:crying::crying::crying:
You can unroot and go back to stock any time by flashing stock firmware. Knox will remain 0.

Remove battery, insert it after 5-6 minutes and then try to boot. Can you enter download mode (vol down+home+power button combo)? so that further solutions can be provided just in case if you can't boot after removing battery.

Ok good, did you try removing battery?
If removing battery isn't helping and if you are okay with root and custom kernel then flash some safe kernel using pc odin and then wipe to see if that helps. If you don't want to root or flash custom kernel then download stock Indian GB firmware from dr.ketan's thread and flash it using pc odin and then wipe in stock recovery.
Flashing stock GB will allow you to update to ICS using kies or even OTA.
Ok.great!now download any gb or ics rom dr ketans thread or from jeetu signature.
After downloading the rom,you need to download kies on your pc and odin as well.after downloading all this put your phone in download mode and now open odin and select pda tab and select your rom which would be in tar format.
Now connect your phone thru usb cable and after connecting you will see yellow light which means your phone is detected.
Now click on start and sit back till it pass.
Hit thanks button

yes Gingerbread and there is no problem in downgrading, i won't suggest you to flash ICS rom as you cannot wipe in ICS, it can brick your phone, so best is to downgrade to GB , wipe and if everything goes well then update to ICS officially.

That is pre rooted. If you need to lose root and cwm just flash stock gb from dr ketans thread in development section, it will overwrite and erase root.

Can you boot in cwm recovery, if so then did you try full wipe in cwmr or flashing some other custom rom? I have seen lot of users with this issue and then wipe or fresh flash solves the issue.
And have you ever used odin earlier, just want to make sure you have proper drivers installed.

Actually, I was having the same issue as you for about six hours through the night til daybreak. Pittied myself when my experiental process came to a hault ending with the ever-so bright lightbulb beaming from my cranium. Not without the "where the hell where you five hours ago" expression S-beamed across my face. But anyway, all you would have had done is:
1) Hold the Volume Up + Home Button + Power Button (hold this last)
2) When in Recovery Mode, selcet and execute "Wipe cache partition" (FIRST), then select and execute "Wipe data/factory reset"
3) Select and execute "Reboot System Now"
4) Wait a few minutes (not the dreaded and feared time fearing that the damn thing still functions properly). And you should be greeted with the regular, expected setup process.

Hello all
I have successfully rooted my S3 lte and want to install cyanogen on it as this was on my last phone, smashed screen.
Have read what seems like a whole ton of threads and various links here there and every where and am now so completely confused.
is there an older mod that is not very risky to install?
have rooted per This post / thread and the phone is still running. So far so good.
I just need a link to instructions to install the cynogen files to stop my brain hurting.
many thanks
Ian

CM is only running nightly builds, ParanoidAndroid is a little more stable IMO at the moment. ParanoidAndroid 3.97
1. Download this PA 3.97 ROM
2. Download GAPPS too GAPPS 4.3
3. Check your version of CWM recovery, You'll be able to check by booting into recovery ( Turn Power off then Hold power + menu + Vol Up until phone boots then leave go of power button)
Check your version in the top left. 6.0.3.3 is the latest i think.
If your version is lower then download this Zip File and copy it to your SDcard, boot back into recovery like you did to check your version, hit install in CWM and navigate to the zip you just copied, viola you'll have updated your version of CWM recovery.
4.Once back on your phone, copy the first two files you downloaded onto your SDCard.
5.Restart your phone back into recovery mode, do a factory reset and wipe the Cache/Dalvik, i cant remember where these options are located as i use TWRP recovery. But they are there so you'll find em.
6.As before located the files and install the ROM file first then the GAPPS file.
7.Restart phone, you should be sorted and everything should work just fine.
Finally, if you want to use a different Kernal i reccoemmend Yank555 but you must sign up to his forum in order to access it, Yank555 Forum
Hope that helps. Sorry if i came across too simplified

Right so its rooted without touching the stock recovery, ok.
To flash a new recovery you must connect your phone to odin how you did before and apply a recovery, search on here for "installing a recovery" or google "install recovery on galaxy s3 using odin" it doesnt matter on the model for the process of instructions just make sure you USE THE ZIP i linked you too in my first post. the CWM version 6.0.3.3 zip.

All done now thanks. Could have saved a lot of this if I'd managed to read your first post correctly about the UP volume key and not down.
Just need to experiment with the various themes now.

I saw a lot of confusion about the China Mobile TD-LTE version of the S5 in the owner's thread, also the explained method uses files that are not easily available and that, in my opinion are not up to standards. In general the procedure to obtain ROOT access and install Google Apps is not different than for any other phone and you need to use standard well known resources.
I will assume you are on the latest firmware, not that it should make any difference, but I only tested that one. At the moment the latest available firmware for the SM-G9008V is CHM-G9008VZMU1ANH3.
RECOVERY
1. Install Samsung USB drivers on your PC
2. Download Odin 3.07 on your PC
3. Download an ODIN flashable recovery onto your PC g9008v-cmw-recovery-6.0.4.8-en(0420).tar.md5 - 12.33 MB
4. Open odin, click the PDA button, navigate to the recovery file (tar file) you just downloaded, MAKE SURE only F. Reset Time is selected, do not select Auto reboot, this is very important!
5. Boot into download mode (hold the menu button, power button, and volume down button all together simultaneously until the device reboots)
6. When you see that odin detects your device(a colored indicator will turn on) click start
7. When Odin is done, disconnect the USB cable and pull out the battery, then boot into Recovery (hold the menu button, power button, and volume up button all together simultaneously until the device reboots)
8. Once in CWM recovery select "reboot system now". CWM will eventually ask you if you want to disable recovery reflashing and you'll be good to go (it may not ask, but in that case you are good to go anyway). This happens only at the first boot after recovery flashing.
If you do not carefully follow steps 6-7-8, the stock ROM will reflash the stock recovery and you'll have to repeat the process.

I added some steps to avoid stock recovery reflash, forgot that very important step!
Hi bubbl3,
I was wondering if you have tried to install the gapps without a custom recovery.? The reason I am asking is that when I try to flash gapps with stock recovery I get an error message that says: signature verification failed. Tried with and without root.
I don't have exactly your phone but close, Sm-g9008w.

Yes, sorry for the late reply, you cannot flash the gapps in stock recovery.
Which recovery did you flash on your G9008W, the one in this thread?

No problem at all, just meant I was forced to test a bit in the blind, as it really hard to find any information regarding the SM-G9008W.
Yeah, I used your recovery as your phone got almost the same firmware version(G9008WZMU1ANH3), so I expected that it would work and it worked like a charm.
How much bloatware did you remove with Titanium? I got a few things apps I am not sure if I can remove without any consequence.

Thanks for the confirmation, there's some people that will appreciate as there is no official english recovery for the 9008W.
I basically removed all the chinese stuff and a couple of samsung apps.

@Jaco_dk : there is a specific CWM for the SM-G9008W, you may want to flash this one to avoid any hidden incompatibilities: http://www.studenikin.ru/svarom/files/g9008w-cwm-recovery-6.0.5.0-en(0715).tar

Hi. Even I have the Chinese version G9008W and was looking how to root it with English language.
The link you gave is of a Russian site. Is the recovery in English? Are the recoveries given in OP in English?
Thanks for your replies.

Yes, both recoveries are in English.

Thanks for your detailed step-by-step instructions. Just wanted to reconfirm in Step 8 when it asks to disable recovery reflashing - do I have to say 'yes' (disable recovery reflashing) or 'no' (don't disable recovery reflashing).
Thanks

Great! I had got this phone pre-rooted by the vendor and he has messed up deleting apps and deleted important stuff like keyboard, etc. I will be flashing latest stock Samsung firmware from Sammobile.com and then try your method to root. Hope that goes through fine. Will I have to flash GAPPS as well?
Also, I hope I don't lose my dual SIM functionality by rooting the stock ROM. Will I?
Thanks

You will have to flash GAPPS as the original stock ROM doesn't include them, also I don't see how you can loose dual SIM functionality if you flash the stock ROM.

I have seen these threads for a while and I couldn't find anything related to my SM-G9006W, even on other threads, I didn't see anything about SM-G9006W. I also recently updated it to Lollilop 5, not sure if that make more complicated to install GAPPS. If you know anything about how to root this phone and install GAPPS, please let me know, I would be really appreciated. Thank you
Hi. G9008W has got Lollipop update. I plan to flash it after downloading from sammobile site. Will this method be still valid to root the phone running Lollipop? Will this CWM work? Of course, I'll flash Lollipop CM gapps. Thanks.

Hi gverma1,
Have you tried it yet?
I am downloading the lolipop update right now, and I was wondering exactly the same if the CWM will work with Lolipop, as I need google play.
I will try and see if Chainfire is willing to make a new CFAuto root for Lolipop for SM-G9008W when I am done with downloading the firmware.

Downloading here myself. But on checking CWM versions for other phones including other S5 variants, the version required seems to be 6.0.4.8 whereas we have 6.0.5.0 here. So I don't think there would be any issues.

Hi gverma1,
I just finished updating to Lolipop, and I installed the 6.0.5.0 and it works just fine.
However it didn't like the PA Gapps Nano, got stuck att starting up apps. So I am going to test some different once now.
Update. The Gapps actually worked after a factory reset.

DOK2 IS LOLLIPOP BASEBAND.
EPE3 /EPG2/EPJ2/EPK2 ALL ARE MARSHMALLOW BASEBAND.THE POINT IS YOU HAVE TO BE ON ANY MARSHMALLOW BASEBAND TO BE ABLE TO FLASH NOTE7 ROMS
Link below for EPE3 firmware extract & Flash this in odin.then you can flash TWRP recovery and any note 7 roms.

I recently flashed Noble Note Edge Rom on my T-Mobile note 4 and now it won't pick up service... Baseband unknown...
I flashed MM_DataFixs7rebootmenu.zip with beastmode kernel now it's picking up but most app is force closing and I can't access phone, camera, edge panel, and a few other apps...so I reflashed the Rom without wiping along with the kernel now everything works perfect except I don't have any service only Wi-Fi...
Need a data fix asap...

Turn off phone and press volume up+home+power button all together for 4 seconds and it will boot in recovery.
In recovery navigate with volume buttons and select with power button wipe cache & data factory reset. And reboot wait 15 minutes it will boot for sure.
your device may get hot but dont worry it will be fine once it boot.

Hey! So let me get straight to the point . . . I used Odin flashed the TWRP recovery, installed SuperSU zip, installed NexusOS-9 ROM, then installed OpenGApps. However, my SuperSU app did not show up and Root Checker says I did not successfully root my phone. I have a Samsung S6 SM-G920T. Did I "root" my phone yet? and how come it shows up as not rooted? Please help. The Custom ROM and Gapps all work but it just says not rooted. Thanks in advance!
Hey I am sorry if I am not regarding to your problem, but how are the steps in installing the TWRP? Many users said that after installing if you try to go to system it will get stuck in a bootloop, can you help me to know how to prevent that.
And I guess that regarding your problem, the room has a different kernel, the kernel is the one that comes with root or not, in this case the kernel of your rom is not rooted, try to root it again.

So once you flash TWRP you press the down button + home button + power button and the moment it blacks out you press the up button immediately and it should go straight into twrp

So after installing normally TWRP without Auto Reboot ticked, I exit download mode and then I immediately enter to TWRP using the key combo. After that do I reboot to system or I need to root it right away?

No you don't have to root right away... TWRP is just a custom recovery to replace your stock recovery.. you can root another time if you want
