Usually, I try to let the phone charge while off if the device dies while in use, to avoid the extra heat from turbo charging.
Now, instead of showing that the device is charging, and showing how full the device is while off, it now hangs at the Battery/Lightning bolt logo, and after the device is unplugged, continues to display that, just draining the Battery at this point.
Running stock 5.1.1 with leankernel 2.10.6.

did you figure this out ? it start happening to my phone too .. I guess it's the M2 Preview Bootloader if these animations comes as part of it since this is the only part you can get rid off when you downgrade back to 5.1.1 and the M2 is the only thing I installed since last time I saw these animations

With phone powered up get battery icon with thunderbolt. If unplug thunderbolt goes away. If charging with phone powered down battery icon blinks and stops when remove cable. Must be your device.
It happens to me when I use a standard charger. When I use my turbo charger it works... Something tells me your charger is faulty or possibly the wire.

Ok in short my battery is not charging at all. I have had this kaiser for a month mayb, but the battery for almost a year. I we away for the weekend and forgot my charger so my phone died. I plug into charger and charging light comes on but when i try and turn it on phone boots then dies as it has no power from cable or battery.
Phone is COMPLETELY stock + tf2d.

Any ideas anyone?
I just updated my phone (even tho it has no battery...). So right i went into bootloader and flashed the offical rom, it died at 13% then retarted and finished flashing....idk if it was supposted to do that or not idk. but now it boots and does the samething as if it has no battery...idk what the deal is .
The battery is heating up like its charging...
It remained updating from 13%-100% and didnt die but i dont think it can charge while updating..but after updating when installing it dies as soon as it gets to "clearing storage"
update
i believe i have a mechanical issue now not a battery issue. This is because even tho it says its charging the battery the phone SHOULD be able to boot under power cable only without battery....but it does not....seems i shall be calling at&t....

If you had read the warnings in the flashing application you'd have seen it says to ensure your battery is charged before flashing. If your battery is flat and the phone turns off during flash (which looks like it has happened here) it leaves you with an incomplete flash and unusable OS, no wonder it crashes randomly. If you have HardSPL you can recover from that, but as you said you're completely stock it might be a lot more problematic.
lol no no my friend you miss understand what im saying.
Trust me i know the warnings of flashing(300+ flashes many failed...happens when making ur own roms), and knowing these i flashed anyways. What i was trying to point out was that it went through the flash all the way even tho during the same amount of time it would have died during booting, the flash was successful but idky.
The phone is not crashing randomly it has no battery power lol. This problem has nothing to do with flashing because before this it was 100% stock...
Are you sure the kaiser can not boot purly off external power? I was almost positive i had done this before.
hey guys, my rooted 2.3.4 stock gingerbread optimus black doesn't come on unless plugged in to the charger. the issue started 3 days ago when i was playing virtual tennis sega and it was connected to the charger. at first my phone got very hot and then it restarted.i continued playing the game after it restarted and it later got hot and again went off, but this time blinking as it went off. i removed the battery and put it back but it remained same. i later removed the battery for a whole day and inserted it back the next day but it remained the same. i later plugged it to the charger and it came on and booted all the way to my home screen. i could even use the phone normally, but anytime i remove the charger it goes off. also, anytime i put on the camera while its plugged in it goes off and shows the battery icon charging. i have done a factory reset but its still the same. please help me.
Try another battery
I think it might be loose or dead
If it was software...it would have turned on
could be your battery, hard to tell though, what if it's pluged to the PC?

I had the same issue.. i lost the warranty due to "bad use" and send the phone to a repair center.. It has a broken wire of the USB connector.
If your phone still turns on while pluged to the computer you can use smartflash to go back to stock rom and this will get you back to warranty
phone still wont come on without charger

Opened bike race when the screen froze while opening the game (dark screen).
Pulled the battery but when I boot the screen goes on after 3 secs, stays on for 2 secs then goes into dim mode (i can see it's still on).
However my phone doesn't boot since I don't get any whatsapp messages. Normally it should boot to SIM screen but other apps should run.
X+power or M+power doesn't change much.
I'm guessing mobo/cpu fail.... any ideas?
:crying:
edit: It turns on when I put in the charger without battery! Dead battery?
If you put the battery flat on a table does in spin well. Batteries bulge when they are done. The better the spin the worse it is. It's odd the behaviour that can happen with a end of life battery

Well now I'm not so sure what it is.
When I put the cable in without battery the M logo appeared and then the charge screen with a ? in the battery (because there was none)
Then I put the battery in and it started charging.
After a while I tried to turn it on but same problem - just a black screen when power it, no logo whatsoever.
Now I can't get it to work without battery either...
edit: I don't think it can be the battery, because the screen stays on (it has power apparently) and it doens't work with cable connected either
But I also don't see it being the screen as it never vibrates like it does when you boot it.
How did it just show the charge screen before and now it doesn't??
I made a vid of what happens when I power it:

The Droid 3 and Bionic are similar phones, and it turns out that the Bionic will not boot up without a battery - it will hang at the Moto logo even if plugged in. See this thread at androidforums.com: http://androidforums.com/motorola-d...via-adb-unable-boot-up-phone.html#post5463741
So, it may be that you just need a good battery pack in order to get to Recovery/Bootloader/Fastboot etc. if the phone will not start or start to Safestrap.

I tried the stock cable that came with my phone (USB) but nothing happens. Screen doesn't even go on.
The light next to the microUSB does go on.
But my phone has never booted with USB (0.5A). When my battery was 0% I always needed a socket charger because it wouldn't go on and charge with USB
When I then insert battery and try again with stock cable same happens as in the video

I'm gonna try my spare battery (original battery) tomorrow. It that doesn't work it must be hardware related because I haven't flashed or done anything to it so it's not softbricked or something.
edit: it team blackhat do send to europe? How would this be different from trying another (working) battery?
Try cutting a USB cable open, hook the red wire to the + of the battery and - to the black and let it charge that way. Also, do you have any MicroUSB charger? I have one for a BB Bold I used to have that delivers I think 1.25A and it could charge my phone from dead (obviously not now with the flex cable having a rip in it).

The little light next to the USB port is the 'It's still alive" light that Moto put in when the battery is completely dead. It's to let you know that the phone *is* charging, just not high enough to boot the phone (i.e. when you let the battery completely die).
WHY they did not make it a standard charging light (like the D1 and D2) I don't know, but that's the only time it comes on. A quick flicker on USB plugin, or when the battery is dead. The light goes out when it gets enough power to boot up.

Well, it's not charging because there's no battery , the light it still on
I really dont see how its the battery because when I put it in without cable the screen turns on and stays on for as long as I keep the battery in. So it HAS power. Today I'm getting my spare battery and we'll see I guess..... don't have my hopes up

Thanks. But should it turn on when the LCD is bad? It doesn't even boot else It would vibrate once.
Can anyone confirm that the phone should boot when I remove the LCD alltogether? Else it might be a bad LCD or loose connector
Hey guys, I've got a bit of a problem after the latest 4.3 update. My phone battery went to 7% and then suddenly to 0%, upon which it turned off. Now whenever I try to turn it on the red light flashes and whenever I try to turn it on whilst charging (because I don't think it charges if I just leave it plugged in), it just enters a reboot cycle, whereby it goes to the lock screen, shows the "Shutting Down" window and reboots. I have no clue how to fix this.
I don't really care about the phone at this point, but I do have some photos I want to keep from there...
Any ideas? The software hasn't been pampered with.
same here
hey, feeling with you.
I recently updated my Xperia T to 4.3.
While in 4.1.2 the "low battery" behavior was quite weird, as my T did not charge (no red LED), I was able to get it back to life by pressing and holding the power button for quite some time, lets say 5 min. or so, as it was loading then. This was independent from whether it was exhausted (blinking red LED) or "simply of"(not blinking but not charging anyways).
Through this whole power pressing procedure (I just wrapped the cord around the phone several times) the LED was red and the phone was charging, but it did not turn on. After the 5 min. I freed the T an hit the power button again. Now it was booting as expected and did not immediately go off again.
On 4.3 unfortunately this does not work anymore . The phone just tries to boot and enters the reboot cycle as you described (with the difference that it does shut down instead of reboot).
Now first I would like to know, if your T behaved like mine under 4.1.2 (guessing that was your last Version too). From what I've read I assume that wasn't really normal behavior. I think there must be something wrong with the hw, as my 4.1.2 was neither unlocked nor modified in any other way.
Second I would advise you boot into recovery and select boot into bootloader* (if you have installed one) or connect your T to your PC and boot into flashmode (power+vol.down I guess) as it might charges in there. The recovery worked for me, flashmode should work, but I never tried.
Finally I guess chances are good, that your device works totally normal if it gets charged again (just don't let it run out of energy again )
btw. does the Xperia T normally charge while it's powered off? Anyone has send his phone back on warranty because of charging problems?
good luck to you,
wk
*I am using this 4.3 rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2647459) atm, as I have root there. But the recovery is really buggy right now so it just restarts all the time. I'm not quite sure where the "boot into bootloader" option gets you ( never heard, that you could boot into bootloader on an xperia device) but the LED shines blue and the T charges and that's important right?
Yeah, my T would sometimes do that when the battery completely drained. I'd have to hold the button for a few minutes while the red light was on until it booted and started charging autonomously.
Now that doesn't work. It doesn't charge when it's off and when I connect it to the charger and turn it on, it restarts. Eventually though the battery drains completely and the old trick works again, but even when it manages to boot to the lock screen, it shows 0% battery again and restarts.
I've tried turning it on while holding the power+down button and charging. The green light came on and disappeared but it started rebooting again. Same with connecting it to my PC.
Can you remove the battery?
Same thing happens to mine, and i just remove battery, plug it without battery,it starts, then put the battery back on.
And it charges fine.

So I think you are facing the same issue as mine... the phone has no time to charge. So what I did was flash an OmniRom with only the SystemUI apk and launcher apk. The intention was to make the boot time shorter so that the battery will not go down by the time it boots. But it ended up causing a bootloop: it was constantly stuck in the bootanimation. And it does charge during the bootanimation. So I let it be like that for about 30 minutes, rebooted to recovery and flashed the stock rom. And all my data was safe. This is more like a fluke so try it and maybe it would work.
If you can disassemble it, then yes, you can do the battery thing. There is just one screw under the SIM flap. I didn't do it because my screw driver kit was borrowed.
The battery trick worked! Now it discharges really fast though.
5% in less than 5 minutes...

Hi all,
Am new to this forum, I've installed the latest version of Liquid Smooth over the weekend and am impressed by the speed my device now runs.
One glitch that I've noticed is that if the battery is completely dead it simply wont charge. But I've placed that same battery into my other non rooted S3 GT-i9305 and it started charging again. Anyone else had the same issue and may be a solution for it?

When you plug the phone while OFF, the animation is stuck, it's a known issue on current AOSP roms (excepted for latest SLIMKAT build AFAIK), but even if there is no charging animation, it's really charging. That's what I've noticed on Liquid Smooth and other ROMs and also what I've read on XDA for other users.
To restart the phone (because it's stuck), push the power button for approximately 10 seconds without removing battery.

You guys are quick thanks for the fast response. Well the phone was off as the battery was dead. However just before going completely off it was stuck in a reboot loop. I've then removed the battery, placed in back in and then put the phone on change for about 10 mins and tried turning on the device again. The animation battery was displayed but did not display the green stuff. Tried turning on again after another 5 mins still no luck.
But when I've placed the battery in my other S3 it stated changing again. So I ended doing a battery swap on the device.

Offline charging seems to be disabled with aftermarket AOSP roms (unfixable kernel issues ??), so when you totally discharge the battery you end up in a boot loop : the phone starts up when you plug it in and it attempts to start. It wont fully boot because it runs out of juice then it attempts to start up again and it keeps going in this loop.
You have 2 choices if you drain the battery totally with this kind of ROM.
1- Take the battery out and put it in some other charger. It's YOUR current workaround.
2- Plug it in to a charger and hold down power + home + vol up to enter in recovery and let it sit in that mode for a few minutes then reboot the phone.
Let us know if it works for you
