Has anyone heard anything about the possibility of a dedicated car dock for the G4? I was a HUGE fan of my dedicated dock for the G2 (here) and am really hoping they release a similar product for the G4. I've never been a big fan of the universal mounts as they tend to be a bit on the bulky side and never look like they belong. The G2 dock had this sticky substance (washable to return stickiness) that was attached to the suction cup so you could essentially mount it to any somewhat flat surface. Here in Minnesota it is illegal to mount anything to the windshield so I was able to sticky-suction it to my very porous dash and it never moved!
The iottie mounts have a sticky suction cup too.

Should check this one out! I am currently using this and for my wifes car for a few months now, haven't had any issues. I for one really hate the suction cups. I like this a lot. My favorite out of all the phone holders I've purchased over the years.

I got the wireless charging case for mine, and so I thought it would be useful to try a wireless charging car dock. Problem is that it gets too hot... Will probably return it and get a regular dock.
anyone using a magnetic dock? I think for these you need to put a metal plate behind the back cover.
Anyone doing this with the G4? Curious which one you got and how it all works.

I am. I've used the Logitech and the Scosche. The Scosche is much cheaper @ WalMart, and works just as well. I have my metal plate on the inside of my case, but have done it on the inside of the phone back as well. Both positions work very well. The Scosche comes with a double sided taped mount that I have stuck to my dash. IIRC the Logitech came w/ a air vent mount.
For the money, go w/ the Scosche. I think I paid $10 for it in the auto section @ WalMart.

be aware of the magnetic car mounts!!
in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/accessories/deal-car-mount-t3163008
there are users which states the following:
does not hold the G4 strong enougth because of the rouch back
can damage camera
focus of camera doesnt work correctly when mounted
navigation doesnt work correctly when mounted (gyroscope, compass...)
I have used the brodit ProClip and holders for years and ill think in quality, those are the best.
In Amazon you can get those:
passive - no charging when inserted: http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B013J7JOXY?keywords=brodit lg g4&qid=1441698061&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1
active - charging when inserted: http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B013J7JE0W?keywords=brodit lg g4&qid=1441698061&ref_=sr_1_2&sr=8-2
!! Attention !! Those are JUST for the plastic backcover and NOT for the leather.
I have asked brodit support and they have confirmed me that
The universal ones doesnt fit. I have one here and the G4 flying around in it because its made for a minimum thikness of 6mm.
So my question is, anybody has tried another brodit holder (for other phone) which fits the LG G4 with leather backcover?
thx

pOpY,
I have used the US version of the Brodit Proclip (ProClipUSA) for both my Galaxy Nexus and the S5 (The one I would like to use is here.) They are fabulous holders for a phone and I loved how it would charge them right away without having to mess with a cord or think about it. You just slid the phone in the holder when entering the car and it started charging. I am also disappointed in the inability to use the leather back with these holders. I think that the problem lies in the extra thickness that the leather case gives the phone and am wondering if you could file down the gap the phone slides into to make room for the extra thickness. At $59.00 I don't know if it is worth the risk, but with the ease that holder provides, I just might have to try it. I don't want to go with the plastic/metal back for the phone and really like the leather look and feel. It can't be THAT much of a difference and should be able to be modified to make it work. Let me know if you discover another option that doesn't require modifications.
Speed...
Addendum; I have decided to order the holder and see if I can modify it once it arrives so that it will hold the leather back. I figure worse case scenario I will just have to purchase the plastic back as I would rather have the convenience of this phone holder/charger than the leather back.
It may also be that the holder material will cause wear on the leather. Let us know how it works out for you.
Work for Brodit MUCH?
Dats a load of Hooey...I've' been using self made magnetic mount (Neodymium magnet size of a Quarter) for 6 months plus on this phone withe NO issues at all.
The magnetic sensor is approximately 3/4 of the way up the back, going up from the base...sooooo...as long as the metal plate/disk is mounted just below the midline
there are no issues! Note; The Neodymium magnet makes for a rock solid mount. Try it, you'll like it.

Are you serious man i dont work for brodit.
Just an user of their holders
The info i have just read during search an holder for my g4.
I have now bougth one of these Qi charger/holder: http://www.amazon.de/dp/B00QV2WE1Y
I dont recommend it!!
It makes high interferences with my car stereo (UKW frequencies and sound are disturbed when ill plugged in the Qi charger).
Currently i am just using it as "holder" and not as charger.
As holder it works very well for the LG G4 with leather back cover.
Using it now for an month and it does'nt destroy the leather.
Any news from you guys?
Do you have tested any holders which you could recommend for the G4.
Are you 100% sure that the magnetic holder does'nt destroy the camera and/or compass?

I use the Proclip / iOauto combo. It comes with a 3M disk that mounts to the back of your phone or case (I have a clear case). It is plenty sufficient to hold the G4 and after having many Proclip mounts over the year, I have finally found a solution that will only require me buing the 3M disk for $5 in the future.
http://www.proclipusa.com/mobile-de...uct/ioauto-pro-magnetic-mount-red-710305.cmsv
Things to note:
1. I have been using mine for 3 or 4 months and there is no problem with the camera or anything else. Depending on where you mount the disk on the phone you could trigger the "Clock Circle" so keep that in mind.
2. The disk does not fit well under the battery cover (it pushes up around the buttons). It is possible to use it this way, but in the end I took it out and mounted to the back of my case. http://www.gottabemobile.com/2015/06/27/best-lg-g4-clear-cases/

Maybe it is karma or something, but when I purchased the G4 they were out of the leather backed model so I never got the chance to try it out. (I didn't want to wait.)
It was probably a good choice because the ProClip mount is a very snug fit and would have surely caused me problems with a leather back. I honestly think even a skin would make it too tight of a fit, but I might try one anyways because they are less slippery than the stock back. The Invisible Shield was nice on a previous model I carried.

It seems that the leather case doesnt fit in the case.
For now i am going without any case and using the leather back cover.
I have a Qi sticker inside the leather case which works reeally good an i dont want to miss.
So the only way for me is to find an holder for the LG G4 with leather back cover and without any case.

Yup. Brodit, pro clip, Pana vise etc. If you want to do it right.
Sometimes sucks tho bc cases aren't compatible.

I am using the T3 universal with my Unicorn Beetle Rugged. The dash mount is rock solid (2014 Subaru Crosstrek XV center dash mount). I also have an NFC tag on it that initiates a 34 step Tasker task that changes all volumes, brightness, wifi setting, Bluetooth setting, background color, default home screen number, home screen widget (indicator to show what "mode" the phone is in).

I am looking for a windshield (suction cup) car mount solution that will charge my Sprint Touch while in the mount/cradle but does not have a built in speaker. My car has bluetooth integrated so I don't need the hands free capability.
Also, my main purpose for the mount will be to run navigation software so I would like the ability for the mount to easily rotate 90 degrees for horizontal or landscape mode.
I've been looking around online but I must be looking in the wrong places...
thanks in advance.
not exactly suction cup window mount, but I use one of the magnetic mounts for mine in my truck. it holds it in place nicely, maintains access to the charging port, can be turned however you want it, and the metal plate on the back is thin enough to not interfere with putting it in and taking it out of the belt holster. if you have a pilot truck stop near you, they sell a nice magnet mount there.
not really aware of any truckstops near my area... kind of looking for something i could order online. thanks for input though

I bought one off ebay that mounts to the windshield using a suction cup then you just plug your standard car charger into it. Like this.

No, The bottom has prongs on the left and right. The center is open to plug in the charger. This thing does tend to rattle though when the phone isn't in it. It works great with the phone in it.
I just bought this, received it on monday.
http://www.buygpsnow.com/HAiCOM-Cus...-Nova--T-Mobile-MDA-Touch--Dopod-S1__946.aspx
It is so solid. I live in PA, which has some of the worst potholes you can imagine. So far it has not budged, with the phone in it or not. It does landscape really nice as well as vertical.
qwho, how does the HIACOM mount and what does it mount to?
kenper, does that suction cup stay attached pretty well? I'd hate to see my Touch go crashing to the ground... I'd probably cry.
I think i'm gonna get the one QWHO has for 2 reasons. It looks alot less bulky and it is custom made to fit the touch. So what did you end up getting?
It's a not suction cup but I have one in my car and truck. It swivels for everything you will need. You will need to but a mount off the website as well for your particular vehicle.

Yea, I think I am going to try the one QWHO listed as well.. It's reasonably priced and is apparently sturdy. Wish I could find a mount that had an integrated charger (so that I wouldn't have to plug the phone in seperately of the mount).
Anyone see a mount like that, similar to say an ipod dock?

I bought this....and at 5.00 I was really suprised...it bends to the shape I want, holds extremely well, and has padded sides. Plus, because it has a ratched style holder, it actually will hold other phones. My touch fits like a glove and it makes GPS navigation great! I highly recommend this holder..
Buyer beware folks...
I have my touch for about a month. I bought a gooseneck windshield mount on ebay and it is already broken....the bendable metal broke off.
I am currently going for another type without the gooseneck, probably the Haicom

It's cradle style so the charger is built in. Rotates either way without much effort, and stays in place well. I believe the model number is htchol012.
Yes the one I posted was a suction cup one. Still works great. In fact I was recently in a car wreck, hit on the front right side, opposite of where I had it mounted. Didn't budge! Don't worry, I'm ok.
For charging, I actually plugged in a car cigarette port extender to a 120v socket converter, which my wall charger for my phone is plugged into, all under my seat. I then ran the charger cord up the insulation in the door and it comes out of a seam right by my phone's mount. It is pretty clean and works really nice. So even though it doesn't have a built in charger in the mount, it now works like one if I want it to.

I bought two of those back in the spring - one for the car, and one for my desk. Plenty of room for the USB, so synch/charging is fine. It's very solid, quite flexible, and easy to rotate.
I went this route for my desk, because I couldn't justify the expense of a cradle (I can plug-in the USB myself), and since I use MyMobiler, I really don't 'touch' the screen while it's docked.
DealExtreme isn't the fastest (everything ships from Hong Kong), but they've got good prices, and I've had good luck with everything I've purchased.

Try Scoche, i think thats how it is spelled. I just picked up one from walmart earlier today. They are on clearance right now. There are 2 models that are 20.00 a pieces. One is a suction cup , got longer flex neck , and the other one has a base where you would put in in your cup holder + it came with stickies to stick it to something. It works pretty good. Get it while they still have them. They are located in the GPS section ni walmart.
oh yeah, I got the one with the base that goes into the cup holder.
Hi guys, I've recently become a lucky owner of Leo. The first things I bought atferwards were the normal soft/silicon case, ebay item no. 280510486481 to be precise. It's a very good case, BUT! I can't use any standard car holder, horizontal belt pouch or desktop charger/sync cradle. It simply won't fit in. Has anybody had and solved similar problem? Are there any products into which the "inflated" HD2 fits? Please let me know... I really don't want to end up taking my Leo off the case anytime I want to use it as satnav, and I also want to be able to carry it on my belt while being protected by the layer of silicone... Thanks a lot in advance!
Something like this perhaps.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/QUALITY-HTC-H...DAsAccessories_PDACharger&hash=item1e5a7cd23d
I have a universal type holder which works okay but find the damn thing rattles too much when phone is not in place. I think I paid about £5 on eBay.
That's great, looks quite strong!
So - what about a charging cradle and the belt case?
There are many cases out there with a loose fit so I would imagine with a silicone case would provide a very tight fit to begin with and gradually loosen up. You could also try something like this designed for the TG01 which has larger dimensions than HD2 so should fit. No guarantees of course.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Toshiba-TG01-...ewItem&pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item5191284371
For a desktop cradle I remember seeing a few pictures on here where the HD2+silicone case sitting on the deluxe cradle sold all over eBay. No guarantees of course.
I've got a Tetrax car holder (the one with X) which works great! ->
http://www.tetrax.us/
The tetrax holder looks great. Could you give us a little more details?
- Is it really safe?
- Does the phone stand in the position wanted (not rotating unwantedly)
- The mount vent aren't fixed so when the phone is there, does the weight make the phone "look" to the ground or is it possible to get the correct orientation?
- Does the HD2 need the accessories kit or the back cover works with the magnet?
- Any idea of the shipping cost and time?
Thanks for your experience!

It is safe - using it for some time now.
The phone is exactly in the position I want it. However, since the holder is really tight to the dashboard, you can't change the direction in which the phone 'looks'.
However, you could use a flexibel arm and put the holder onto that.
What do you mean with then accessories kit? It works with a magnet, so the 'button' must be glued to the HD2, but can be glued to the cover/case or whatever you use to hold the device in.
This also means you won't have to remove the HD2 from the case when you go in your car!!
Can't really tell anything about shipping cost/time, because I bought it here in The Netherlands. (Bought the thing, next day it was waiting on me at home!)
Hello all,
I love my seidio innocase ii and holster combo. I am looking for a car mount that will work with the case and allow charging too. I went by VZW today and looked at their Incredible Case. As stated in the other thread you can't use any case with it. I purchased a OEM air vent car mount, but the charging socket is blocked unless you slide your phone up in the grips (the two grips have holes cut out in the middle). I don't really like this one because the release button is at the top behind the phone. Not this one, but very smiler http://tiny.cc/eahgk
I would like to find one that can turn 90 degrees with a ratcheting action that the car charger can work with.
Bright Idea
I'm thinking about cutting up an old leather belt and gluing a small loop of it on the dash so I can clip my Seidio case on it. I'll let you know how it works out.
Just kidding dbrown! I am seriously eying the universal holder from http://www.proclipusa.com/ which definitely covers the usb port but I'm picturing a hole or slot cut through the side to fix that. All the other universal stuff looks HUGE
Why go for a universal holder when they have one made specifically for the DInc? Unless you have other devices you are planning on using with this. I just don't like their mounting spots for my vehicle, too bad too =/.

We're looking for a holder that will work with the phone and case. I don't want to take the phone out of my case every time I need to mount it on the dash of my car.
I just got this:
amazon.com/gp/product/B003H92LSA/ref=oss_product
But I'm not satisfied with it. Cause to the short neck, The screen is head to the top of my head, and it's not very easy to get my phone on it.
Look for a better mount, still.
i've always used this gooseneck windshield mount from verizon.
you can find it by not specifying a phone under view all mounts..
Part #WINDMNT1
19.99
it fits most all phones ever made, plus cases.....
i have my inc in it tilted so i can access the touch screen keyboard...
i got a universal one from bestbuy and it works pretty good
I have one of these on the way. http://www.clingo.com/car-mounts/universal-hands-free-mount
I think that I would like to the get TETRAX XWAY to mount my DInc. Since I'm a new member I can't post links. Sorry.
I did see a nice video review and it seems like it would work perfectly because you can leave the phone in its case.
my friend got a car dock at the vzw store, the clip part the phone goes into is actually a removable belt clip. you can remove it from the car dock completely and put it all on your belt, pocket, whatever you wanna clip it to. however, there's no case involved in that package. i'm sure seidio has a case/clip you could mod to work with a similar product as i described first.
My plan is to get the car mount from htcpedia and the innocase holster for the Surface. Then either switch out the belt clips (hopefully), or just use my dremel on the innocase holster belt-clip to cut out the same as the mount's beltclip.
A little more expensive, but seems to be the best "factory-type" option I can come with.

I have one of these too, it's awesome! If you want a mount that doesn't stick on the windshield AND works with a case...this is the way to go.
Hello,
I really like the xway too, but not sure if it would work with the inocase II. The case has a ridge that runs down the length of the back of the case. I went with this..
http://bit.ly/9lOy6V. I got the sm410 and currently using the vent grip. Its a little big, but does put the dinc with arms reach if needed. And the power cord is not blocked.
try something from here

i have the air vent mount and it works great with any phone including my incredible.

I have the same one, picked it up from microcenter
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0281093
works well with my innocase active. but sometimes when you secure the dinc in place the mounts grips will press the volume button. its not too hard to position it in the middle of the rocker so it wont adjust it, and it not a problem once you have it set in there.
would buy again
I've tried several different mounts and haven't been happy with any, until now. I picked up a couple of the SoundGate M2 universal docks from wiredforless.com and could not be happier. The install was simple, once mounted it looks great and folds down into almost nothing. I don't know if it's still available, but I used discount code WOOT and got two of the mounts and shipping for $14.95.
AND, it works great with the Seidio case I have.
Great product, couldn't be happier.

i position the left clasps to the bottom and the right ones to the center.. that ensures the volume button doesnt get pressed.

You can switch out the belt clip on the car kit holster with the Seido clip, I've done it. Just tap out the pins in both clips, place the spring back in between the clip and the holster and tap one of the pins back in. Works like a charm. Now I'm trying to get all the audio and charging done with a modified 12 pin micro usb from the TV OUT cable.
I did reviews on these:

Highly recommend these and I use with my Seidio II.
Hey guys. Ive looked and there are a few threads but nothing seems conclusive as to what is the best choice for a car mount that will fit the note 2 and also work with the s3.
I want a strong suction and something that will hold the phones steady for use as a gps buy not block the screen and must allow for the car charger to be plugged in to the phone.
Need two so preferably something that won't break the bank.
Thanks.

ive got one of these. it opens wide enough to hold my note 2 with my chunky heavy duty case. enough suction force to not wobble either. but only really seems to work on windscreens. wont work on the faux leather dash in my honda civic, but will work on plastic dashes.
I went with the iBolt xProDock for my Note 2. It fits the GS3 as well and works with cases. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1910428 or http://amzn.com/B00AOCSFYC
I love it. It is super easy to insert/remove the phone and it holds it very solidly. I've had it a month and I only suctioned it one time. It shows no signs of weakening. I think the price is definitely worth it.

seems awfully expensive for something with 3.5/5 rating. I think I prefer the clip posted above. i'm going to try to find it locally if not i'll order online.
if there's anything else that would be better please suggest it!
Got the mountek cd slot holder. Couldn't be happier. Doesn't block the road and looks almost like a 2din receiver. Oh super stable too. My old suction one would shake so much and it would be hard to reach while driving
I use the official Samsung Galaxy Universal Suction Car Mount Kit for Samsung Galaxy Phones available from Amazon US. I paid £22 for it delivered to the UK. Very solid, works well with my Galaxy Nexus, S2 and iPhone. Reviews suggest it does work with the Note 2 as well.
You will need to purchase a car charger though, but cannot fault it at all.

I got the same car mount and reviewed it here with pictures:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37487154&postcount=49
The only difference, it was from ebay shipped for only $3.95. Took a little over a week to get here, and it's a fantastic car mount that will hold any phone.
Exomount 2!
I own a few of the Exomounts and one of their newest, the Exomount 2. It is easily the best I have tried as far as a universal type mount.
http://www.arkon.com/Galaxy S III/megagrip-galaxy-s-3-sticky-dash-mount.html
My girlfriend uses this in her 2011 Scion with her GS3. It will also fit the Note 2 with most cases. If you have a giant Otterbox case, it'll be a tight fit. I like this mount because it sticks to the dash and can be adjusted to be around the level of an air vent mount. You can adjust it to different heights and even use it on the windshield.
Her Scion has a textured dash and it hasn't come off in 3 months. Good mount, imo.

thanks for the link. I guess I should have updated the post to mention I already ordered mine.
ended up going with a clip style holder, I like the design more and I want to use the phones horizontally, which the clip seemed to be sturdier at holding than this kind of mount.
let's hope its good!

Since N2 has a big screen, I like to mount it in portrait mode more than landscape for GPS navigation. It lets me look more further ahead.

Arkon makes some of the most durable car mounts! I have this Megagrip since 2.5 years using it with Droid X and now Note 2. What I'm very excited about is their upcoming Slim-Grip Ultra mount that can fit anything from Note 2 to Nexus 7. I talked to Arkon customer support and they mentioned it will be available in a few weeks. Once I get it - will review it here!
The best ones are from ibolt..... check its Web Page. .. !!

Personally I the Breffo Spiderpod, I know its not a car mount but works a treat. just shape it to what you want. Mine uses the vents to hang on, been using it for 2 months now. My Note 2 has never come out, and I just slid it in and out even fits a treat with my flipcover.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Breffo-Spid...19K4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1360079702&sr=8-1
The Samsung i9300 official one works perfectly for me - fits my Note 2 with case, and is also sold as S3 compatible (and in fact I've tried mine with an S3 and works fine). Solid, has never fallen off my windscreen, and I'm just converting it at the moment to have a fixed power plug I can slot the phone on to, though that's probably not an option if you want to use the 2 phones with it.
I second the IBolt for Note2. I have been waiting for it to be released for months now and it is finally out. Although you have to wait for the charging cable until March.
It is built very very well, mounts to windshield, dashboard and has an optional permanent mount bracket also. My favorite part is the phone goes into Dock mode once attached. I have this mount for the GS3 and it is amaizing. Before purchasing it for the S3 i went through three seperate mounts from Best buy, returned them all. None of them came even remotely close to the quality of the IBolt mount.

I was following this dock right up to the point where they said you had to connect the power cable yourself. I wanted a mount that I could slide the phone in onto a power connector, for one-handed operation. I'm now making my own

I get what your saying, but i usually dock my phone when i get into my truck connect it and it stays there until i get out. I don't see any reason for plugging and unplugging it while driving unless i'm missing something?

Me too, it's just the ease of doing this that I want. Slide in, slide out, no fumbling around for cables and getting the orientation and angle right and pushing it in properly... Much rather have a 1 handed operation that I can get in the car, place the phone in its dock, bring the sides in to grip it (easily all done with 1 hand), and have it activate car mode and start charging from the car at the same time. Equally, to get it out I just press a button on the back to release the grip, and pull the phone up - still all easily done with one hand. It's how I've had every other car dock as well. Sometimes when I get in the car I forget to put my phone in the dock, so it becomes even tricker - this makes it very easy.
Anyway, each to their own. I'll probably start a thread about the one I'm making at some point so other people can do the same thing if they want.

I'm interested in your project. I was ruined by the excellent car dock that Motorola made for the Atrix. It was perfect.
Hello!
So I am searching for the perfect car holder for dashboard for the HTC M8.
The official one is very expensive and of course it will be limited for M8 only (no future phone)
So I have found 3 interesting models online all universal and one handed usable:
Anyone tried one of these?

Just waiting for delivery.
Tip: The Brodit passive Car Mount for SGS3 fits also the M8.
Anyone have any other good car mounts they've used with the M8, preferably with a case? That doesn't obstruct the cameras?
The Clingo has poor reviews, they all say after a couple months the green sticky stuff comes off on everything
I've tried 2 previous versions of "EXOMounts" and both had horrible suction, couldn't hold my EVO 4G lte caseless. Weights far less than the M8.
The OSOMount isn't even released yet, not willing to be another guinea pig.
The KitAnywhere looks sketchy at best, its holding an iPhone and doesnt appear it has much more give.
The Arkon looks ok, and is slim, but will it hold the weight of the M8, and not let it go when driving over bumpy surfaces? Will be driving a large box truck soon and need to make sure it can take a shakin and not drop my precious
The Arkon has really good reviews, just would like a hands on opinion from someone with a M8.
Thanks in advance!
I just ordered a Mountek. I had been considering getting one of these for quite a while. I really like being able to attach it inside of your cd slot. Just a note though... they have two versions, a clamp down version and a magnetic one. My first thought was to get the magnetic one since our phone is metal, duh =P. But aluminum is not magnetic, and since I prefer a clear case for my phone, the metal plate would look pretty horrible inside of it. So, if you are using a case that is not clear, I would suggest getting the magnetic one, otherwise get the clamp version. There are plenty of other types of mounts though. But for my particular car, a dash or window mount would be up a bit too high for my taste.
If interested, I can post some pics of the mountek with the M8 once it gets here.
I'm using the 'classic' Mountek nGroove Grip, and it's perfect. You have to remove the bottom legs to get access to the headphones jack and the microUSB port, but the grip is strong enough to hold the phone even without it.
What I like about it is that it keeps the phone close to me and facing directly at me (as opposed to farther under the windshield where you have to lean down to use it or stretch) - and also it doesn't obstruct your view - it's perfect, really.
If you don't wanna give up your CD slot it also fits into just creases in your dashboard.
Highly recommended!
I'm definitely interested in seeing pictures of the Mountek mount and hear about opinions, if the M8 can be mounted in landscape mode and if it keeps the phone stable while driving. Appreciate it!

I have actually this holder http://www.maisondugsm.com/a/produit/produit/1852246/support_auto_avec_ventouse_pama_windscreen_couleur_noir_pour_htc_one_m8.html but one of the side doesn't have rubber or soft plastic so it will scratch my M8 with time so it need both hand to put the phone and pull it without scratching it.
About the Exomount suction, I am planning to stick it to my actual disk pad which has double sided 3M sticky paste to stuck on my dashboard,it's the red thingy on the picture.
Though I wonder if its worth 45$ with delivery charges...
Edit: I have found a tailored made holder for the M8 though I wonder if it won't scratch the phone borders as it doesn't look rubberized where it ''clips'' and it will definitely need the disk pad too for the dashboard mount.

I use both the Tetrax Ego and Fix in my car - Ego for summer when I want the phone mounted over an air vent to keep the battery cool (LONG drive from the South to Upstate NY using GPS and/or playing music) and the Fix for winter/daily driving.
No, you won't be able to use the camera while it's mounted (due to the dash being in the way) but it holds my devices rock solid. I've never had it fall off, even with a charging cable plugged into it. I started using it with my Incredible, and used it with the Thunderbolt, the ReZound, the M7, and now my M8. The M7 and M8 I use/d caseless (though I have a skin on the M8, don't want to scratch this beauty) and it holds perfectly. It does require adhering a small button on the back of the device, but this also has helped keep the camera from getting scratched when I lay it on it's back on a table.
The M8 with a case on it might need the XWay or the FixWay (made for larger devices, they have stabilizing rubber "feet" in an X pattern radiating out from the magnetic piece.)
Really can't recommend these enough. They hold perfectly, and are VERY unobtrusive when not in use.

Sorry, don't have pictures of the holder with the device in it.
I'll just note that the holder is adjustable, you can place it either this way or upside down (it swivels 360 degrees), and the grip is adjustable and strong (I actually got my Nexus 7 to fit in it!)
It can easily be turned aside to landscape, and is VERY stable (you can adjust its rigidness).
I used a Mountek in my old car. The felt lining along the CD slot crumpled up and never looked the same again. Depending on how much that bothers you, you might want to avoid them. I'm thinking of getting a ProClip this time around. It uses a suction cup, which goes on a separate dashboard mount that clips into place somewhere on your dash; where exactly depends on your car and what they've made for it. I read a Honda Accord forum; for that car at least, it's supposedly as stable as can be.

Ok so I must decide between Osomount Quick Grip which looks more solid than the U Grip and the iOttie HERE
My main goal is to have a one handed friendly holder, not bulky and of course not falling
I'm going to order the Arkon, after seeing the review here and the reviews online are all really good. It'll also fit my phone with case, and not block the camera. After some run ins with drunk off duty cops, telling me to get out my car and fight (lol), I like the idea of being able to record out the windshield, or front facing camera without obstruction. Will update with a review after I get it and use it for a few days or so. Thanks for all the reviews / suggestions here

are there any car docks that have the USB built in?
does HTC make anything official for the M8 ?
I went ahead and ordered the Mountek nGroove Snap 2 (http://www.mountek.com/shop/categor...i-use-car-mount-smartphones-and-mini-tablets/).
I drive a 2013 FR-S and suction cups have an incredibly hard time sticking to the surface of the dash. I also like that it doesn't obstruct the view of the windshield and it's much more minimal than their Grip mount. I have two TPU cases, one clear on the back and another all black. Figure I'll just apply the extra magnetic blade to the back of the case I'll use in my car.
Once it arrives, I'll share my impressions along with some pictures.

Yep they have an official one and very pretty but it costs a leg and an arm (above 70$) for a holder you will throw next year when the M9 will be out
I bought this a few years ago for my Sensation and have used it on many phones with and without cases since: http://www.proclipusa.com/phone-hol...ble-holder-with-tilt-swivel-875214-18871.cmsv
I've used it on the Sensation, GS3, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, One (M7) and now the M8. All with and without cases (you just have to adjust it)
Again, it's adjustable and works perfectly with my M8 and my Seidio Surface case. You have to purchase the mount to go with it. It is expensive but you'll never have to buy another car mount again.
Just got my Mountek grip yesterday. Here are some pics with and without the M8. Sorry for the poor quality of the ones with the phone in the mount. They were taken with an S3.

Nope. Doesn't hit any buttons, but does obstruct some of them. Not really a big deal for me, but might be for others. Obviously it also depends on the car, and where you decide to place it. It doesn't have to be mounted in the cd slot. It can be mounted in other crevices. I'll probably test it out in some other spots and see what I prefer.
