[Q] How to completely wipe internal storage? - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo Q&A, Help & Troublesh

Upgraded from 4.4.4 to 5.1 rooted yesterday.
I think when I did that, I stored my files from my previous install hidden somewhere on my phone. I have over 6GB of my available space taken up and all I've put on my phone so far is a few ringtones. The only thing that makes sense is that the pictures and videos I had on my phone before are placed somewhere else.
I can't find them though. Does anyone have any ideas? I did try a factory reset before upgrading to 5.1, so that obviously didn't completely wipe my internal storage.

Format Internal Storage

Hi guys,
I think i accidently formated my whole internal storage, i did a hard reset and accidently click return to manufacters settings.
Now i have not one thing in my internal storage and i was just wondering if someone could post up the default folders that usually are there for me so i can make it look like it use to.
thanks,
luke
If you returned to the manufacturers settings, then everything should have gone back to default. All the default folders should be there.
ohk, i dont know what i did then cause theres not 1 folder in internal storage.
Then do a hard reset AND reformat, and you will get all beck - except the data....
for someone else can help this hotfix directly from HTC>

[Q] Reset to rooted stock ICS possible?

Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate (SGH-T959D) that came with Android 2.2.
I rooted my phone and installed Ice Cream Sandwich with the Semaphore kernal. When I did this all my old information & apps were gone and I got to set everything up like when getting a new phone.
I saw that there was an update out for the Semaphore kernal and did a factory reset before I updated not knowing that you can update the kernal and keep all the old info on the phone. Now, I have all of my apps information and folders on the internal memory (no apps installed yet) and would like to know what folders can be deleted and if there is a way to make it like a new phone so I get to set everything up again like new?
I have alot of apps and folders that I don't want to use any more or files that are bogging down the memory.
TL;DR: Is there a way to make my rooted phone format it's internal memory to be like stock so I get to set everything up from scratch?
while not really necessary you can format the internal sd card. I do this quite often but like to copy the entire internal sd card info onto a folder on my pc first.
if you do a factory rest, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache & format internal sd-card phone will be like new...
Thanks, I'll give this a try.

[Q] Used factory reset - can I recover files?

Hi all,
I used factory reset on my phone because I thought I was gonna keep my personal files (i.e. music, photos, etc). In my old android I had a SD Card so everytime I reseted it I kept all of those things. But on my RAZR i since the internal storage is already big enough I didn't even bother getting a SD Card, and I ended up forgetting all about this until after reseting my phone I went to look for my photos.
So my question is: is there a way I can look for these files to see if they are still in the internal storage? And if so, can I do it without having to root (and therefore losing the warranty)?

Consider your files gone. A profressional could try to recovery them but it would cost more than your phone to pay them.

[Q] samsung captivate internal sd card

I had to boot my phone back to factory settings yesterday. before I did that, I made a mistake and formatted the internal sd card. then realized that wasnt what i was supposed to do. I do not know what if anything AT&T or Samsung has in that memory card for operations. what if anything having to do the phone's performance would that have deleted?
No worries, I believe. On a fresh OS nothing critical is on internal SD. OS will restore all needed files/folders on first request/use. I did format my internal storage couple of times (before flashing a new ROM) just to clear leftovers from uninstalled apps and previous OS installations. Haven't had any issues. If you want, flash one more time the OS and you'll see all default folders restored after first boot. Half of them will be empty though, for eventual future use (like folders for Alarms, Notifications, Music, Movies, Pictures, Podcasts, etc).
When I put do a factory reset I usually format my internal storage to get rid of all the accentuated garbage. As mentioned above all the necessary factory files are restored on the reset, only your personal files are missing.

SD Card Cleaned when flash rom, Space still being USED

So I know when flashing roms sometimes it will erase the SD Card, Okay well I forgot about 5 pictures I had taken and was like oh well, so when I went to go load all my stuff back on it, My SD card is empty but it says 6GB is being used, which is about right what it was but there are NO files on it... Where are the files??? Using Root explorer and show hidden stuff on the computer still dont know where the files are at....
did you flash a 4.2 rom?
I wanted to try out cm mod. Then went back to stock 4.2.2 I don't care if I lost some stuff. But its Stikl there but I can't see it.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
i know that your suppose to wipe before flashing a 4.2 rom.
the file system is in a different spot so it leaves the old system there.
I do not know how to get back the free space beside formating and reflashing the system.

Ive already formatted system and it still shows stuff stored there.
Not to sure then.
Only had the phone for a week so haven't gotten use to the file system yet.
I just know it's set up different from other phones.
I had the same experience also... what I did was I went to CWM recovery and format /sdcard and I did wipe user data/factory reset...
This was happened when I flashed 4.2.2 onto 4.1.2 without wiping anything....
transfer everything from your sdcard to your computer then format sdcard in cwm and transfer your files back and they should be in the right place
Ive got the same problem. Stock rom never rooted, "OTHER" in storage taking up 6.7GB.
I have looked at clearing junk files with CLEAN MASTER app but my cache files only takes up 33mb.
Did anyone look what "OTHER" in storage was when they got their brand new phone? Does Sense 5 really takes up over 6GB?
EDIT:
A few people confirmed that the phone have about 26GB of space out of 32GB brand new, so yeah Sense 5 DOES take about 6GB of space!
