Twitter links won't work. - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help with an issue I've had awhile and never found and answer for. I can't get the shortened urls from Twitter to work. Ex. Bit.ly links. Tried on my gfs Maxx and works right away. I get a connection error. I feel like this has happened on other phones I've had and I've never found a solution. Should also mention it doesn't work on wifi or Verizon network.

PIE not working on 3G

Okay, I'm just wondering if there is a setting somewhere that I'm not aware of and hopefully someone could point it out. When I am at home and the phone is connected to my home Network ( WiFi ) Pocket Internet Explorer works just fine. Now turn off WiFi, reverting back to 3G, and Pocket Internet Explorer doesn't function. Just loads blank pages continually. The reason for me thinking it's a setting somewhere is because I also have Opera, which works fine on both WiFi and 3G. So while PIE is oblivious to the World around it, Opera's singing along. LOL! Honestly I wouldn't really even care except I have the mod installed that allows PIE to transfer live video streams to TCPMP thus making YouTube and such work rather well on the device. If that worked in Opera, PIE would never be used on my device. Hehe... So, anyway there's my problem. I eagerly await ideas. Thanks!
No one huh?
Geesh, I hate when I find a problem the technical like crowd can't even answer. :\ That leaves ya with... Technical Support from the... MAN... And we ALL know just how extremely useful / helpful those folks are.
Keep in mind that some people don't LIVE on this forum.. (i do though..) and the members of this forum are from all across the world, so people are on at different times.
Your posts are 13min. apart. If everyone could get their solution within 15min i think people that help out on this site should be paid! but thats not the case...
now to solve your problem; Are you on AT&T? if so i'd recommend finding the disablehiddenproxy.cab and installing that. I had the same probelm and after disabling the proxy everything was back to normal.
if i remember the manual correctly, for wifi you want proxy's off...
for MediaNet you want the proxy on

Firstly, thank you. I will try that.
Secondly, please check the dates of my posts. I realize that people do not live here. And all help is appreciated. I waited 24hrs.. And, by the way, I don't get to live here either. It is sheer coincidence that I happened to check back pretty much 24hrs. later on the button. LOL! Well, pretty close for not really even paying attention to that anyway.
Thirdly...
And thirdly, that is precisely why we all love ya! Disabling the proxy corrected the issue. I think that my phone actually came with that active, I don't recall PIE ever working over 3G... Until now that is. I figured it was simple since, as I said, I have Opera on the device also and it didn't care. It worked no matter how the device was connected to the 'net. Anyway, thanks much!

irc connection problems

Hi all, hopefully someone will be able to provide some advice on an irc connection problem i am having.
I have installed on my device zsIRC and smartIRC. Strangely i have had them installed for a while but smartIRC has only just started connecting.
I am connecting using HSDPA and for smartIRC this works fine. It cant resolve the hostname but seems to be ok in using the IP address instead.
when i then try zsIRC it goes through the same connection process but when trying to connect using the IP address i get an error message
connection lost while reading: 10054
then it disconnects.
I have used zsIRC via a wifi connection at home and it works fine there.
Any ideas on if this can be resolved?
One other oddity in smartIRC is that the enter key doesnt work on the keyboard and i have to use the send command on the touch screen....
All help would be greatly appreciated
ps...i have searched the forums but cant seem to find a great deal on irc
I am using Pocket IRC at the moment and All works OK.
Give it a try and let me know if things are better.
I am connected to #xda-devs on freenode right now
Dave
Thanks Dave,
there seemed to be so many out there that i went for the two i mentioned. I've downloaded pocketirc and that logged in first time
now just need to play around with it.
Thanks for the help!
Incidentally if anyone does have insight into zsIRC i'd still be interested so i can compare the various programs.

IRC Commands?
Have a look here: http://www.ircle.com/reference/commands.shtml
This is what I use for reference.
Dave
but with some mobile irc apps i've found differences
smartIRC for example doesnt use / it uses , instead, and doesnt seem to support all the commands
although i see that pocketirc uses the /
also some seem to vary how they do private messages so it can be a bit of a lottery
Only ever tried a Java Applet IRC before Pocket, and that was almost impossible to use, so I don't really have any comparison.

Need help connecting to Internet - AT&T Tilt - Cincinnati Bell

Hi Guys. Sorry to post a new thread for this, but I didn't know where else to look for answers as I have already searched everywhere with no luck. I have an unlocked AT&T Tilt on the Cincinnati Bell (in Cincinnati, Ohio) network. No matter what I try, I cannot seem to get the internet working correctly on this phone. Cincinnati Bell does not carry the Tilt, so they will not help me. I have searched these forums and found Cincinnati Bell's web proxy settings and tried plugging the information in, but have not had luck. What is strange is that when I click Internet Explorer, it actually shows that it connects, but no web pages will open. If I touch the E at the top of the screen, it shows a web session open with a timer counting how long I have been connected, but still no web page access. If anybody has any suggestions, I would sure appreciate it. It seems like it would be something simple as I can see the connection timer, but I am lost as to what else to try.
* I will also be posting this question in general questions in hopes of getting an answer. I realize that double posting is frowned upon, but I am so frustrated with this that I am willing to try anything to find the answer. Thanks in advance to anyone that may be able to help.

Bluetooth File Transfer Question.

I've seen a bunch of threads round here, explaining that Bluetooth OBEX works, and some people even stating success... but none explaining how...
I've recently tried to get this working with a flurry of devices, and I've yet to be able to do it.
Anyone have any tips/how-to to get this to work?! It's a feature I'd love to start using, and be able to show the iTarts in my office...
any help would be great... thanks!
I second this thread. Very similar thoughts.
shameless bump... seems this feature is a bit undocumented... I've been unable to find any information regarding it anywhere... odd...

Anyone get VVM to work on CM RC 1.2?

Tried and tried to get VVM.apk to work on newest build of CM to no avail. I have tried to push it to system app and change all permissions as well. It will instal, but when VVM tries to connect it sits for a couple minutes and always says unable to establish connection to the mailbox, try later.
If anyone has got this to work please let me know how, I would greatly appreciate it and I have seen many others looking for this same answer. Thx.......JZ
I had the same issue when the new build came out. Unfortunately, there is no fix. Something got broken in the background. My advice would be to camp out slayher's IRC to let him know. Unfortunately my power is out due to a massive storm and it's not expected to be back online for days (I'm tethered to my phone right now).
I'm having the same problem. I've tried the VVM app on the market and also a VVM zip update I found on a different forum. Both return an error that they can't contact the voicemail server.
I found posts elsewhere about using youmail or google voice.. I tried youmail but didn't like it. I'd prefer to just have verizon visual voicemail, I don't mind the $3 charge!
