I don't get as much battery life on my nexus as I did on my htc m8, I was wondering if there are roms that focus on battery life
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
no. there are kernels that might help, but battery life is all determined by your use, your apps, your setup, and the quality of your phone/data signal.

I came from a M8. I'm on Pure Nexus and Hell's kernel http://decuro.de/downloads/kernel.php?kernel=222
I get amazing battery life and this ROM is hands down the smoothest without impacting battery. Give it a try.

+1 only I use Lean kernel. 5-6 hours SOT. Had to nix chrome for AOSP browser to get those numbers though.
To the OP, if you're using the Facebook app, consider ditching that and using mobile. Huge battery hog.

What worked for me:
Downloaded Benzo ROM and unzipped. Extracted AOSP browser. Pushed it to system/app and set permissions as needed.

I am on cm7.2RC and i love it so far. Its fast, smooth and works like a charm. But the only one thing i hate about it is that it has terrible battery life. Within 3-4 hours of complete charge my battery runs down to 20%. I could flash a different rom but i dont wanna do that because i'm loving this rc build, well besides the terrible battery life.
Please help.

All juice defender does is disable the wifi and 3g when not needed. I disable them manually from habit after use and because of that battery increase was 0.
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda premium
you can do the same thing in tasker or even more as in juicedefender. Tasker is also cheaper.
Agreed, juicedefender will only disable wifi and 3g connections.
Do it manually, without the need to install other app, and save your battery... One day with wifi disabled you hardly will use more than 10% of your battery (without gaming, just music)
Juice defender no doubt disables wifi and cellular data and ofcorse you can do it manually but it has the option of disabling wireless connections when the screen is off which saves a little more battery life. Get the free version, coz i used the Ultimate one and besides more manual options nothing else is different.

Why would anyone want that? It'd be better just to go ahead and run over the phone with a bus. There's a reason the OC kernels got dialed back by devs. BTW it doesn't make the phone that much faster either. If you need 1.8 another phone is the way to go.

It strictly helps with lag IMO. I just like how my apps run smoothly and I can run multiple apps without the phone crashing & rebooting. Far as battery there is no app or tweaks that will help if you use 4.2. In fact I got rid of my battery apps as they all just eat memory and do things any user with common sense can do.
Sent from my SGH-T679 using xda app-developers app
so did you determine that v6 supercharger is not necessary for our phones if using the latest version of NOS? i only ask because in your sig you used to have v6, but now it's just baked bean with nos.

Thanks ill try that. But by battery life, i meant like does nos make it even worse? Or does it not affect battery life at all? And i have found greenify and juice defender to help A LOT for saving battery.

Greenify is OK but your main battery culprit is Gnow/Maps. Technically Greenify is supposed to be able to hibernate Maps but that is useless as Gnow needs it quite a bit so it gets awaken a lot. I love Gnow and choose to live with that as I use mass transit and those features are needed. However if you don't, then disable Maps and that will increase your battery somewhat.
Far as Juice Defender and the like, they are a joke IMHO. I used Juice Defender for over a year (they haven't updated the app on over a year either) and just like a lot of them you only save battery if you let it disable data and Wifi when not in use. I don't really care for that and can turn those on and off at will myself. Trust me you will see these battery apps are all smoke & mirrors.
Far as NOS consumption of battery, seems to have no effect one way or another.
How do I get AOSP Helper installed on PACman rom ? im sure I cant but maybe later? anyone got a better battery saver for this rom? thanks for the info.
I use Greenify to keep my battery draining apps like maps, facebook closed all the time. It only works on non system apps though.
I've never gotten that aosp helper to install on anything. Greenify is good, green power premium is great also.

Greenify combined with a wakelock detector is the way to go. Once you see what's causing a ton of wakelocks, use Greenify on them to keep them from leeching the battery.

Yes I got green at 5 and found out that most my battery drain was coming from the Facebook app which I put in the suspended or whatever and now my battery life hasn't double but it's definitely better and noticeable I'm going to do the e 40 model eventually

I feel like the device is much snappier. I heard battery is supposed to be better with it as well but I can't confirm. The xda app was never the best , now it is almost fluid o.o. or at least noticeably better. What do you have to say ?
i was told to add this:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/1qbko3/art_broken_apps/
edit: I would like to add that the apps i notice this most is for instance, when i use hangouts and i'd right ALOOOOOOOT with someone and then scroll up at a fast rate, it would stutter. Now, this stutter is nearly gone.
XDA - xda app is one of the most noticeable, stutter has been reduced by such a large margin that you'd have to try it yourself to believe it.
G+ would have the occasional hickup when scrolling through news posts. Next stop would be the play store, it used to stutter a lot as well, now it's become a lot better. Just for the hell of it i compared it to my sister's note 2 and the difference is there.
I doubt this is a placebo effect, i'm even considering to make a video as proof with dalvik on and off for the hell of it.

Well, it's kind of obvious, if you want the best experience for now you're going to want to go with the official 4.4, since the developers need their time to work their magic.
I have no crashes, i'm using ART so far cause i could care less about what's app. I'll report in about battery life observations once i've at least had this thing running for a whole day.
Feels really smooth so far; don't use any apps that crash(thankfully) on ART. Hard to tell with the battery as I came off a custom kernel that was picked for low power usage. Like with any new firmware, it usually takes a few days of my phone running before I can really judge things. Got to give all the apps running a little time to muck things up to get a solid feel for real world performance; but I'm hopeful from what the past few hours performance/battery wise.

I'm not saying it is not buggy, I just want to know before I switch

Just switched to art on today's stock KitKat after running art on nexus 5 port for a week. No stability issues and have 165 apps installed with no bugs. Battery life is improved by approximately 15% and performance is much quicker
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
It's not worth the hassle in my opinion. I couldn't notice any tangible difference, performance-wise. I tried it on SlimKat, though. I may probably give it a second try now on stock but the whole idea of having non-working apps like Whatsapp and TiBu just takes the appealing away for now.
Could this just an elaborate hoax to test the placebo effect of Android optimization? I don't understand the true potential if it.

If you want a kk ROM I'd suggest Nameless Rom under the original android development forums. Not as many features as 4.3 or beanstalk ROM but super smooth and stable with decent battery life. If you like flashing or updating often, mokee is another great rom with ota nightlies that you can flash daily.
